Great supermarket for Asian groceries. Prices are fairly decent, and the shelves are quite well-stocked.

The store is just not the same since covid. Its inventory and variety have been reduced. Probably due to the lack of tourists and nearby office workers. I hope things will get better soon for all the stores in Chinatown.

Large oriental supermarket conveniently located on Canal Street in Chinatown, just a few minutes’ walk from the subway station. They occupy three floors. Kitchenware in the basement. Large variety of Japanese beauty products take up the entire top floor. Beauty product prices are heavily marked up. Cooked-to-order food is also available on the main level.

This supermarket is a wonderful and magical overload of a variety of different products. There is a meat stand in the front, ceramics and cookware downstairs, with spices, snacks and much more on the first. They do not have bags*, nor sell any, so make SURE to have your OWN. They import snacks from other Asian countries, but still have some American food. Today, someone was asking specifically for an Asian branded barbecue sauce. As I read the ingredients on my mushroom seasoning, I could overhear all the workers communicating to find this man his specific BBQ sauce, and he did! My favorite part of this whole place is their tea selection downstairs. They sell loose tea by the weight (so far, I have their basic green one. But they have Oolong and many others.) With the other cookware downstairs is their vast selection of chopsticks. This is really a great supermarket and the best Asian one Ive been to :)

Kind of bare bones store. I always walk past it, but never go in. I finally needed to go in to pick up some stuff for a friend and there and there is no fresh food whatsoever. No grocery. Its more of a large Chinese Bodega than a grocery store, which I was suprised at since I grew up near a Kam Man that my parents shopped at regularly and thats what i was expecting when I went there.

I always shop here when I visit NYC. Downstairs has a great selection of loose leaf teas you can buy by the ounce. Also the cool teas that open into a flower in a glass tea pot - beautiful and tasty. Gorgeous and extensive ceramic selection from inexpensive soup spoons and bowls to beautiful one of a kind ceramics. Tea pots, soy sauce bowls, cat food plates with cats on them, sake sets, etc. So many choices I can never make up my mind because I want them all. Upstairs is a fast food counter, candy, snacks and refrigerated goods. Great selection. I recommend stopping to see what catches your eye.

I first went here on a whim after buying Chinese puer tea at Tenren around the corner. Kanman had a more diverse selection at 1/4, or less, of the price. They have both packaged and loose tea. The loose tea comes in 100lb bags which is displayed in large 3 gallon glass jars which are clearly priced and scooped into plastic bags in whatever quantity you want. An amazing find that is tucked away in the back of the downstairs floor. I recommend highly.

Has an interesting selection of Asian items. But in short, also has bad customer service. I will never come back again. For full and long story:My uncle gave me a $20 gift certificate that was expiring the next day. I knew of the store, but never went in because it was a little far for me. However, I was thinking of stopping by since I recently heard about the Asian selection from my sister. Went to the store the next day, got $20 worth of meat. Wanted to continue exploring the store, but holding the meat was too cumbersome. So I paid for the meat while forgetting to use the certificate. Continued to shop for another $20 worth of items but forgot to use the certificate again. When I left and was a foot past the door, I finally realized that I forgot to use my certificate.Went back immediately and asked them if I could get a refund for the amount of the certificate. The cashier and the surrounding workers just told me there was no way they could do that and to just buy more stuff to use the certificate.I would not have came in that day without the expiring certificate. I had already spent quite some time walking through the store and purchasing $40 worth of items. I was ready to go, it was Sunday evening, Ive had a long day. To have to spend more time to buy another $20 worth of items was pretty frustrating. I could see that it was my fault for forgetting. But it would have been nice if they tried to help me out.Not only did they not try to help me, they said in a pretty rude and mean way, How could you forget to give the ticket? Youre just trying to get cash for it. Thats your problem. There is nothing that can be said or done.I spent a decent amount of time walking around the whole upper level and I know the cashier remembers me since I just walked out and rung out twice with her.Do I believe that they couldnt help me? Not really. They just talked among themselves about the blunder I made. I think this could be considered as being disrespectful and bullying. Even when I was walking around the store later I could hear them gossiping about other customers and co-workers.I even told them that it happens (people forget) and that I think they can help me but dont want to and thats not good customer service.Eventually I asked where the manager was. A guy pointed to another guy just standing at the front of the store looking around. I went to him and he said, Im not the manager, the manager is not here. I said, I think you are the manager... I suspected that he was lying, unless the other guy lied? He wouldnt look at me or say anything else. Im pretty sure he knew my situation as he was standing pretty close to the cashiers and workers that were talking about me. They were all congregated around the same area. Walking away I said, I am not coming back here ever again.I was so upset and tired that I was tempted to just walk out without using the certificate. But not wanting to waste the $20 and the reason for my trip, I walked throughout the whole lower level and the entire upper level again. I finally got another $20 worth of items before they closed.I just felt like no one really cared or wanted to help me. And if they really couldnt, they could have been more nice about it instead of being so mean. I am a young Chinese person and everyone I spoke to were older Chinese. Great way to turn off even your own race of people and the next generation of shoppers.Although the store selection was pretty good, there are other Chinese grocery stores around the area that I can go to. Or I can just go to the Trader Joes and Metro Acres that is way closer to me. They have healthier food, less problems with refunds and way better customer service. Although I do like some of the Asian items I found at the store, it is not worth the indignity.I also looked at the other reviews. It seems like a lot of the good ones are for the store selection, the bad ones for the customer service.

The frozen ramen, dumpling, and wonton section is pretty expansive but beyond that and sauces there really isnt that big of a variety of Chinese/Asian market stuff.
