Incredible service and a great environment! The patio is super cute and such a wonderful place to sit when the weather cooperates. The bar inside is beautiful! I absolutely loved the artwork on the walls and wanted to sit inside only so that I could keep looking at it. The brussel sprouts were really good and the spicy chicken sandwich was so good! I got the vegetable salad and it was just okay. The drinks were fun and made all in-house. It was a great experience all around.

We loved this place, and included it in our mix of restaurants, despite closer options. We realize that staffing is an issue everywhere as of late, so service may not be better than perfect. We realize that prices have gone up and fees are added, with no explanation as to why theres an extra $1.50 fee on the bill, which aint a deal breaker. (But its nice to know youre paying an arbitrary fee, just because, before you get the bill. Im sure there was small print somewhere I missed.)But add to all of that the fact that the cheeseburger I use to love at Nighthawks just aint as good as it use to be, and I no longer have a need to return. We have fond memories, and and had more than one New Years Eve dinner there, but that chapter has ended. You wont be disappointed if you dine there, necessarily, but the reasons we went back are no longer reasons to return.

This place does meat and cheese well. The bacon Mac and cheese is thick sauced with thick cut back, and I would describe it as southern style due to the heartiness. The burgers have a great flavor, but I like the Reuben sandwich even more. The fries are tasty, but a little over salted for my preference, however that rich flavor is a signature of all the dishes here.

We got an order to go. Their patio was very busy and we had to wait 25 minutes beyond our pick-up time to get an incomplete order. One of the burgers had no bacon, both of the medium burgers were beyond burnt, and no fork for the salad. The best part of the meal was the kids chicken strips-- the breading was super fine cornmeal. Finally, for that price I expected something greater.

One of my goals is to try all the spots in the Twin Cities that have mac and cheese. Nighthawks has so far been one of the best! I went in July - and I believe since then theyve changed the mac - but I still really recommend coming here. All the food is really tasty, the whole spot has a cool, old school vibe, and the staff is the nicest in uptown. Get yourself some good breakfast food and a specialty cocktail.

Review №42

First and foremost, I have never written a review because I never feel it necessary and it’s generally a waste of time. If a place is crap, I don’t go back and that’s the end of that. However, this incident struck a chord that I couldnt let go.TLDR: We were served raw chicken, given a discount of 6 dollars and no apology.Heard good reviews about this place so we decided to go. The place looked nice--I was praising the atmosphere and how nice it was. We ordered a hotdog and decided to wait 20 minutes for happy hour to order a sandwich and beer combo. The hotdog was fine, but the chips that came with the hot dog looked like they were from the bottom of the chip bag. We also ordered fries. When the fries came, they tasted bitter as if using old frying oil. Notably, the fries were bagged frozen fries, nothing like hand-cut fries (other reviews will affirm to that). I had 4 fries stuck together that were super soggy, which also confirms their frozen origins. Here’s where it gets bad. When the chicken sandwich came, it looked amazing. One thing I noticed, but didnt really cross my mind immediately was that the chicken was a bit lopsided in size (See pic). I split the sandwich in half as best I could. I proceeded to hammer down the fries first because, although the fries were terrible, I hate wasting food. This would also have allowed me to finish my meal with what I thought would have been the better part of my meal, the sandwich. My girlfriend had finished her sandwich part first. When I grabbed my sandwich after having already bit two big chunks, she pointed out that my chicken looked raw. I dropped it and looked and was shocked that it was indeed raw. We waited a bit then waved the waitress down. In my mind I was going to be very courteous and let them redeem themselves with their consequential response and actions.I told her, “I think it’s raw.” She looks for a second and my girlfriend chimes in and says, “it’s raw.” I was taken aback when her first response was, “the cook always puts a thermometer in the chicken. I watch them put it in.” She continues to stare at it. To help her case I said, “the chicken was really lopsided so that might have been why it was not cooked evenly.” However, my reason for mentioning that was to see how she responded. She didnt offer an apology and really showed no true acceptance of their faults. The whole time I’m being cordial to see if she responds how I hope any establishment would if something this appalling happened. Hardly an apology was given. She retreats with the dish to determine what sort of “discount” we would get. She returns with the bill with everything full price. I thought, “seriously” but she returns again to give the “discounted” bill. I looked and saw an “employee” discount of 6 dollars. The happy hour meal was 12 dollars for a sandwich and a beer. The beer, if purchased alone would have been 7 dollars. Essentially, we paid 6 dollars for the beer and a potential bout with food poisoning. As we left, there was not a single utterance of an apology. They clearly don’t understand the severity of the consequences of food poisoning. The waitress herself was very soft spoken and standoffish and seemingly lacked the skills as a waitress at a seemingly well-to-do establishment. Total bill was 22.90 with the 6 dollar discount.I think it was just shocking that no apology was given nor was there any other staff that came to apologize for their mistake. This place was promising until this happened. Never again.

I gave them one star due to whoever saying I was untruthful . This is a local business and I would never falsely give a negative review but I stand by why I said. No one was masked up and no one was social distancing at the bar including the bartender .We ordered take out. I ordered the French dip and girlfriend had the fish and chips.Wasnt impressed, when I went in there was a total of 11 people at the bar and none were wearing masks. Bartender wasn’t wearing a mask, cooks, waiter and so on.Now for the food, they gave me a tiny container of au jus . The meat was dry and the fries were soggy. The reason I gave the rating two was because the meat even though was dry was seasoned nicely. Her fish was bland but the breading was good. The tartar sauce was good too.Overall not a great experience , I understand that a lot of people think the pandemic is over but it isn’t and the food was great.I won’t go back again.

I wanted to like it so badly (I live close), but the unfriendliness of the staff and lack of communication to the customer just makes it an uncomfortable experience every time.
