A great experience in quality workmanship, communication and hospitality. The owner and general manager, Marty Martell and Laz, respectively, were in communication with my wife and I during the project which involved significant damage to the hull and swim platform from Hurricane IRMA. The facility is clean and well organized. All personnel we met were hospitable and courteous.

Great operation here. I have had the please of bringing multiple boats to Norseman and have had great experiences. Very knowledgeable staff and crew. I’ve had everything done from bottom paint, to cutlass bearings, to electronics and pumps. Also great job on wax/ polish and detailing. Marty and Laz have the yard looking great and are very attentive to the customers. All hands on deck! Keep up the good work.

Owner Marty was able to help us out after the Miami boat show. Got into a slip and pulling out boat out onto a trailer. They have a GREAT operation going on there. Polishing, painting and fixing boats non stop. It was amazing watching them pull huge boats out and put back in with care! I would recommend this place by far for your boating needs. Thank you again Marty for all your help. We will be talking to you again soon. Your friends at Outlaw Performance Boats. Larry & Leslie

Norseman was recommended to me by members of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club several years ago and I have had my Catalina 30 in there for bottom work, gel coat and fiberglass repair and new canvass. Most recently after damage from Hurricane Irma, the owner, Rick Heron, personally scheduled my sailboat for repair and finished the work in timely fashion, the boat looks like new. Rick and his employees have always been attentive and want to be sure work is completed to satisfaction. May not be the cheapest but over the years I have found the company to be reliable and trustworthy.

I started using Norseman about four years ago on the recommendation of my Dad who used to bring his boat there back in the 80s. I have used various yacht maintenance companies and yards here in Miami which was fine for smaller jobs. However, when it comes to more complex projects, Norseman can handle anything you can throw at them. Since I started using them I have had many discussions with other local boat owners about their service. Norseman is generally perceived to do the best bottom painting work in Miami. They also understand the meaning of the word deadline, which really matters to me. Is Norseman the cheapest in Miami? No. Are they the best for all around yacht maintenance, repairs, and bottom work? Yes.

I was selling my boat last week and we needed a quick haul out to check the bottom. Rick and his team were ready to go and got the boat in and out in a heartbeat. They were paying attention to the details and without our request or charge they pressure cleaned some grass off the boat to be sure we ran perfect for the survey!! Thanks Rick boat got sold we couldnt have done it without you!

Make sure you are seated when you open the invoices. Recommend you sleep on your boat while it is there and personally document all work being done or set up remote video cameras to document to the minute every hour they attempt to charge you.

Both the owner and I were happy with the service we got at your yard and the boat ran very well back to West Palm without any problems. Thanks out to Rick and his crew for a job well done.Rob Richardson

Rick, has no care for a clients satisfaction. I went over for a full re-hull of the fiber glass and gel coat plus a detail wax and compound.Price was fair leaning toward expensive. I thought…I’m going to pay a little more but I expected a superb job. Gel coat and fiber glass was done well (as a matter of fact-his employee that does the gel coat and fiberglass work was very good and a pleasure to work with)…the detail work (which he sub-contracts) was horrible, the boat was filthy when I picked it up.When I pointed out a few thing I was not happy with Rick was extremely confrontational and his sub-contractor got into a verbal argument with me as I pointed out his shoty work. Rick offered to knock off $300 from a $8000 bill...I was not happy but went on my way...not a good experience!

Called and talked to some guy who informed me that they do not build boats/ships despite their name in an uninterested and annoyed tone before hanging up on me. After calling back I found out that they must not have any interest in selling them either. Not really sure what these guys actually do but I wouldnt give them a dime regardless of the quality of whatever work they do.

Dont be fooled. Rick will try and rip you off every chance he gets.I went for their for bottom paint and stupidly agreed to additional work. The only thing they did well was the bottom paint. Everything else...lousy job with outrageous pricing. Then they surprised me with ridiculous invoice without giving me total beforehand (or my approval) and told me they needed CASH or wire transfer (probably anticipating my dissatisfaction!).The prop shaft seals they replaced are leaking due to improper install. The trans leak they charged me 1000s to fix still leaks! I had to finish the polish and wash and do the bright work myself.Maybe he ran a good shop in the past, but now he is lazy and greedy. Dont get snowed by Rick. You dont want to be his cash cow to be milked like I was.I dont know where these other reviewers got their boat serviced, but it certainly was not Norseman. FAKE or PAID REVIEWS! How can he have 4.4 rating when 50% of reviews are 1*???

I made arrangements to ship my sailboat from Miami to San Diego. The manager Rick confirmed the date by e-mail to deliver the boat to the yard. When I arrived he claimed to not remember until I forced him to review his e-mail. At that time he required I call the Trucking Company and delay pick up by one week. After the delay they prepared the 44 foot boat and loaded the truck. On arrival the mast and forestay have damage from lack of proper packing. The entire experience with Norseman Shipbuilding was bad start to finish. I urge you to take your vessel somewhere else. They cant be trusted to do what they say. They are not the company they use to be! Rick ALWAYS wants paid first! He knows his work is substandard. Most work he sub contracts and wont stand behind.Beryl ShearsShare reviewEdit reviewDelete review
