Ive been coming to this store since I was 5 years old in the mid to late 90s. I started going there when I started taking Piano lessons, then through school band, and then through me discovering my true love, Guitar. I have easily spent thousands of dollars here including 4 guitars and 2 or more maps, dozens of pedals, and countless accessories, as well as having them fix or setup my guitars and other instruments. They by far have the best prices, but most of all OUTSTANDING customer service beyond belief! Ive been in MANY many music stores around the country and this is by far the best one Ive ever done business with. I cant recommend them enough! Thankyou Musician Supply for all your help and business all these years!

Fair prices on the stuff I need. Friendly service too (not like the corporate guitar center environment). After a few more visits Im editing the review... I just had my Taylor 12 string acoustic electric setup. I was worried that since I couldnt set it up myself that it might require a neck reset. The luthier quickly set my mind at ease and accepted the guitar. One day later I received a text message saying that my guitar was playing great and ready for pickup!?!? The total was under $50. Of course Im sure the price will vary, but I can say that this is now my favorite guitar store and all of Columbia and Lexington greater area. Cant say enough good things about these highly skilled and pleasant people.

Recently purchased a Fender Jazz bass and Fender Rumble 100 amplifier from this very fine shop and had a great experience because of the outstanding customer service that Jeremy provided to me. I am a beginner bass player and Jeremy took the time to orient me to all the fine Fender basses the shop has available and then let me test play them, assisting me with tuning, using the volume and tone knobs and operating the amplifier. It was like getting a bass lesson for free. Then on top of that, they gave me a great price on the Jazz bass and amplifier, definitely lower than anywhere else I could find. If you are looking for an instrument and lessons or guidance or just a good deal on that instrument you are looking for, Musician’s Supply in Lexington is where you need to go. It’s a large shop and they’ve got everything. Jeremy hooked me up with everything I needed to enjoy playing my new bass and was very helpful. I also felt good about the fact that he is a certified guitar service/repair technician. So, if I need help with an adjustment or service in the future, i know I can get the help I need. Check this place out. I will definitely be back for strings, gear, music, service, advice, and anything else I need for my musical needs.Thank you guys,Ritchley

So much to say:Extremely knowledgeable staff - whatever question I have whether for live sound, recording with interfaces, guitar tones, drum accessories, you name it these guys do it. I have been a customer since 2014 where I bought my first amp from these guys. They give fair value for trade ins and have a great selection. Plus they carry XL jazz iii picks - you wont find that at guitar center! Support local these dudes rock!

Musiciansupply quickly repaired the tuning keys and restrung my guitar with new strings at a very reasonable price! On another occasion I bought an electric guitar from them. Not realizing that the neck could be altered to better fit my hand; at their suggestion, made the adjustments without any charge. Once again, they earned my trust!

Extremely Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff! I haven’t played guitar for many years so needed some advise on my purchase. Miles was great! He answered all of my questions, was patient and spent as much time as I needed to make the right decision. He didn’t try to over sell me. Love my new Fender California! and they’re prices are less than the internet! Unbeatable! Do not buy online! Go see the experts! save money and aggravation!

What a great experience I had dealing with the staff at Musician Supply. 2 weeks out of major surgery and out of work for the next 3 to 6 months. Took some guitar lessons many years ago and since I’d be sitting around I decided to buy a new acoustic guitar. With some experienced help I decided on a Art and Lutherie roadhouse. Called and spoke to 2 different guys on 2 different days. Each one was as nice and helpful as the other. Not only did they place the guitar on the side for me after the first call, BEFORE I decided to buy it, but also had it restrung. Needed a couple of accessories as would be expected and the salesman was very professional and knowledgeable in helping me out with the add-ons. Shipping was needed, as a 3 hour round trip was out of the question, and he offered to try use a secondary vendor to get it to me sooner. Can’t say enough about the service provided. Just hope I can do my part and get the use out of the guitar it deserves. Thanks.

I purchased a new LTD by ESP Bass from Musicians Supply during October of 2012. The staff was helpful and friendly. They offered sound advice and input with ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE TO PURCHASE. This is a huge plus in my opinion. As a musician, I feel like we know better than anyone what we are looking for, what we like and what we dislike about instruments and accessories. I have walked out of more than one music store because I felt like they were pushing me a certain way, or trying to sell me a given instrument. This was certainly not an issue at Musicians Supply. They answered my few questions thoroughly, then went on their way; allowing me as much time I wanted to test instruments and play. The result? I love my new bass. It feels great, and has great tone. As far as Im concerned, LTD / ESP provide the best value available in guitars and basses today. If youre in the market for a guitar or bass, I encourage you to give an LTD a chance...see how you like it.If youre in the market for anything at all to keep your music flowing...its tough to beat Musicians Supply.

Great service and wonderful selection for students or beginners. They have an extensive selection of accessories for almost any instrument. Their guitar and amp inventory is mostly Fender and mostly priced a bit higher than the big box stores, but that’s somewhat standard for a music shop in the suburbs. However, I wouldn’t let that stop me from allowing them to at least try and earn my business if I was looking for something specific they don’t currently carry. The staff is incredibly friendly and the guitar techs have an obvious passion for what they do. They will even save the paper from your strings and put the date on it so you’ll know how long it’s been since your instrument has been strung. I would recommend Musicians Supply to any parent of a child who’s in the marching band, the orchestra, or just wants to jam out in the garage with their friends. Especially when you consider the protection and upgrade plans they make available for student purchases. I would also recommend them to any guitarist who hates stringing his own instrument.

In response to your reply, I appreciate the gesture. I appreciate the invite back to try for a better experience. Understand that I was having a wonderful day until the man I dealt with closed the saxophone case and clearly said I can see that youre not going to listen to me so, bye! . This was the first step of unnecessary! Never, ever!!! Should anyone treat a customer this way. This man took my knowledge of business as an insult because I understand how business works. He acted insulted and then retaliated by blowing me off. Lucky man! Very lucky that I was as calm as I was. The saxophone boy has no clue about the world. He did not have a father growing up. He took his guitar to a shop to be repaired last month and when he got it back (a week later) it broke immediately. This costed him $80. I myself and very well rounded and I apologize for my outburst. The customer service representative should have heard me out and tried to help me from there instead of getting an attitude. As a matter of fact, its people like him who cause crime simply by ignoring a rule of thumb. In most cases the customer is right but if not then, let them speak and carefully try to explain. This is an example of poor quality of the company. If you insult people this way you can cause people to become violent. I was calm and cool. I simply stated that I know how things work and just need parts, not to hear about the fact that you wont sell me certain items but you will repair it for me. Totally insulted my intelligence. Lets have a showdown in repair work if you must prove something. I assure you that you will find shock! I need parts please! Im a perfectionist and I dont trust someone thats more interested in making a buck instead of making a customer happy. So sorry that I asked for parts instead of an explanation or should I say business talk. If I was the store owner he would be warned or maybe even fired! He is very poor at customer service. In my company, I excel in customer service. I hear people out and I have patience and if Im insulted, I maintain patience and try to calm the situation. Never will I say I can see that you wont listen to me so, bye! Never!!!! He acted as though he was worth more or he was my superior! I then, (feeling challenged) returned the gesture and challenged him back. He acted like I was a child not realizing that I was a grown man! Apparently, bigger than him. Terrible! Just terrible! While youre thinking about it, maybe you should teach him how to smile, be polite and for the love of his company and maybe some compassion for his fellow man, patience!

The staff is a mixed bag. On one hand you have genuinely nice people who want to help you out, let you play some instruments, or just talk about music for a while. Then you have these crotchety people that give you dirty looks and act like youre trying to steal something. I fail to understand businesses that allow employees to treat their customers like trash. I recommend Sims music store in Columbia. They have a much better selection and a more friendly environment for any musician.

Since my last visit to the store my opinion has actually changed some, I spoke with a man who was actually extremely nice and let me play a bunch of different guitars, he also told me about the stock that they were expecting so I could know if anything that I really liked was going to come in soon, he was very nice and very polite and I enjoyed my experience overall

I go to the one in Irmo mostly and it is always awesome. Jon, the gentleman who teaches my daughter, has done wonders with her playing ability and desire; hes also pretty cool to talk about The Doctor with too. But the whole staff have been nothing but nice and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this store. As to the prices, you are always going to be able to find stuff a bit cheaper on the net, but I like to support local (I know its a chain, but locals teach, manage and run the place; and if your love is music and you dont play a whole bunch its a good place to work.). Plus I like the human experience and being able to return stuff if its not working out.As to the guy with the bad Lexington store review. Ive been in there once to buy a couple of minor supplies and they were really knowledgeable and helpful there as well and not overbearing. Thats just one mans visit though.

I went into the store based on a recommendation from a friend. I went to the one in Lexington by the Food Lion. From the moment I walked in the staff was within a foot of me the whole time and acted like I was there to steal something. The employee that did this didnt want to let me play anything just kept asking me what I wanted to buy today. I felt like I was at a used car lot not a music store. I have been playing guitar for over 15 years and just did not like how I was treated. I ended up going to Sims Music on Saint Andrews Road and they were friendly and let me play whatever I wanted without hesitation and offered me free lifetime adjustments and set up. I ended up with a new Gibson Les Paul Custom and a new GT100 which I love and they even taught me how to use the GT100. Bottom line Musicians supply gave horrible service and was high pressure and the staff seamed very arrogant. I would NOT recommend them to anyone for more than buying strings.

I had a very bad experience in this store last time I went. The instruments are very good quality, but are priced a little higher than average. Ive been in this store to buy simple stuff like strings and a tuner but its expensive. Almost 40$ for a set of strings! I can buy the same strings online for like not even 30$. If you tell them you want to buy some strings they automatically grab the daddario strings, I feel like you have to give them an explanation of why you want a different brand. I use ernie ball for my 5 string because the scale is slightly longer and they are the only ones that Ive tried that fit my bass, plus I personally think they are much better, but last time I went in there they told me they havent had those in awhile. Normally the people there are fairly nice, but this time when I went in I asked a guy if it was alright that I played an instrument and he acted like I was interrupting him and Im pretty sure I heard him whisper yeah kids in here can get aggrivating, he might have been talking about something else but it really sounded like it was directed towards me. You can get a very good instrument from this place, but if you want good customer service and a more fun environment then go somewhere else.
