First time visit! Very convenient location. The coffee was exceptional and the employees were very courteous! They have several seating areas sectioned off and the lay out is really neat. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you are near by. They have snacks and baked goods as well! Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just paid $6 for a decaf latte with coconut and barely any caramel drizzle or whipped cream. It wasn’t filled up all of the way. I waited 7+ minutes because they could not get the decaf to pull without grind in the ramekin. Not to mention, I am a professional barista, and could’ve made this drink in under 2 minutes - just wanted to try out another coffee shop on my day off. Staff seemed disoriented and unknowledgeable. Would love my money back.

I love the coffee but I was so disappointed in the owner!!The young ladies were helping multiple customers and one seemed to be in training with the other lady. There was a lady in front of me being helped while the other was actively grinding coffee. The phone rang and no one answered. There were people waiting behind me and someone came storming down the steps. It was the owner, Jeff barefoot. He talked to the girls like he was their father and they were out late with boyfriends. He told them if he calls they better answer the phone and the milk needed filled up and then stormed off. The girls says yes sir, very politely and we made sure they knew we felt that was so inappropriate and tacky. The coffee is phenomenal and deserves 5 stars but the inappropriately addressing the staff was without a doubt uncalled for!! I drive 2 hours to get coffee in bulk but I dont know if I can come back after my experience 😞 I hope this review helps others realize the importance of how you should appropriately treat staff and especially with customers around....I hope the owners can kindly do better in the future!

Black Chicken Coffee House is a cozy little place. Its homey furniture allows you to kick back and relax while enjoying your coffee, tea, latte or one of the many other drink selections. Dont forget to grab a muffin or other treat at the counter. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. There are gifts to buy for yourself or someone special. I will say that it is not my first choice for coffee, but thats me. Im very picky. The coffee was tasty and the muffin was too. The atmosphere is relaxing and not rushed. Its definitely worth a visit.

First of all, this pumpkin coffee was one of the absolute one pumpkin coffees I’ve ever had!! I love how customizable the coffees are. I couldn’t decide between pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice so the lady working said I could get a mix of both with the white chocolate. It was amazing! 😍 it was a very neat place and I look forward to going back when I’m in Lexington again!

Love it! An old school 2 story house converted into a very cool, eclectic coffee shop. 2nd floor is off limits though and if you Google it the backstory of how it came to be was really inspiring for me as I just moved here as well. Support your local businesses!

This place is THE local place to get great coffee with a wonderful easy going atmosphere. They’ve created a huge menu of delicious coffee drinks. There is something for everyone’s taste. The owners and staff are welcoming to everyone and all are super nice!

Black Chicken will have you hooked the second you walk in with that aroma. Oh my goodness. The smell of coffee beans always makes me feel at home. I try to get a different type of drink every time I go. Im hooked on their cold brew. With bigger coffee chains coming to the area, it is SO important to support your local businesses if you want to keep them around. The staff is always so nice and willing to help with any questions you have. For sure worth trying if you havent dropped by before.

I know they have selflessly put in tons of thought and time into making their place somewhere people can go to relax, enjoy excellent coffee and desserts, spend time with friends, and just be still for a moment in our busy world. It is definitely one of my favorite retreat spots anytime we are in Lexington. I always order frozen coffees. They are always perfect. The service is fantastic, the employees always helpful and friendly. Quiet and quaint. Adorable place. And the cookies (which are baked elsewhere) are wonderful as well.

Absolutely the best coffee I have ever had. Ive tried 10 different flavored lattes so far and each one is better than the last. The Black Chicken has stolen me from Starbucks, they are even better and have that small town charm on top of it. If youre in Lexington dont miss it.

Really enjoyed the staff and atmosphere of this shop. It has a very friendly and family oriented feel.I ordered three different drinks a small one shot, hot whole milk vanilla latte, iced coffee, and a medium two shot vanilla latte. The hot latte was pretty good, nice and smooth and not too sweet, ice iced coffee was alright and the iced latte was yet to be desirable. I am thinking this was just a bad drink, which happens to everyone. When I visit in the future I will stick to the hot drinks though and give their food a try as well.Thank you for the quick and kind service. This place was amazing. There is a great coffee selection, prices are reasonable, and the people here are so kind. The coffee shop is in an old home, so it has a great, cozy, historic feel. It is the perfect place to stop in and just get a drink or to sit and work for a while. There is also a great selection of handmade gift available.

The quality of their coffee is AMAZINGand the best you will find in lexington, pricier, but worth it. Options on top of options, and good food to compliment the coffee.

Here are the reasons I have to give this three stars. It is not clear where to go when you walk through the door (and no signs to be of any help),the coffee cups sit upside down an the bare counter exposed to everything, the top of my cup had dirt on it when the barista handed it to me, and the barista was eating when I came in and she did not wash her hands before serving me. I must say the people were kind and helpful with any questions I had.

Go to if youre in Lexington. Its a great coffee shop inside a historic home. Lots of seating and plenty of fun things to buy if youre looking for something local as well.

Cold brew was awful. Bitter, no flavor, worse than starbucks and that is tough to do, as cold brew is supposed to be very forgiving. Prices were good so its ok for a quick brew or a blended drink. Their flavored coffees are probably pretty good, but Im not a fan of flavored brews. Coffee has flavor on its own and if most of your beans are flavored...then that probably means you are starting with low quality beans. I do not recommend.
