We just had a great experience with New England Shutter Mills. The person who came to give an estimate was very knowledgeable and provided great ideas. He also was meticulous in matching the aesthetics of the house and colors. After approval of the estimate (which was super competitive), they started working on the custom, made in the USA shutters. Keeping the work local was important to us.They just installed them and they look better than we imagined. Throughout the process the team was professional, neat, and very COVID safe. We couldnt be happier with the experience.

Wow! Exceeded my high expectations! These are VERY high quality shutters that look unbelievably good. My wife was skeptical of spending the extra money but I wanted high-quality, great looking shutters. My wife and neighbors (and occasional random stranger) have commented on how nice they look! These add an entirely new dimension and depth to your house. Curb appeal is dramatically enhanced.Working with Karl was a pleasure. Extremely professional and easy to work with. Installation was quick and professional.

I spent weeks combing through online sites hunting for genuine wood shutters for our 1929 colonial home in suburban Boston, and never trusted the quality. Then I spotted New England Shutter Mills, and what a difference it was dealing in person with proud expert professionals in my own state. Karl came by the house, took careful measurements, discussed numerous options and details (i wanted traditional hinges, etc). The price was no higher than some of the online sites. And the installation and quality are excellent. Nancy in the office was patient with questions. And the house is transformed. Thanks, guys.

The company was absolutely great. All of the personnel were friendly and helpful in every way possible. The price was fair and they worked hard to have them installed before July 4th including installation in some rain showers. I would give them the highest recommendation. The quality is very high and they care about their work and are proud of it.

Great installationprice was competitive with commercially available shutters that are not even close to the quality and NE shutters is a truly customized product and installation.the paint match was perfect.The installer was great, he took his shoes off each time he entered the house, protected the floors with large pads, cleaned up touched up, all done with no issues.

I just had my blinds installed yesterday Wow I am obsessed with them. They are high quality. The installer was prompt, removed his shoes and was in and out in no time Suggestions were made by Karl because I have casement windows. Customer service is definitely first. I couldn’t be happier.

The team at New England Shutter gave us an A+ experience. The product is beautiful and authentic. The team exceeded our expectations in time and quality. We restored an 1830s cape house and the result was great.

Not a very good experience. Wanted custom shutters. To me custom shutters are made unique to each window. What these people make are production custom. They take measurements of all windows and make the shutters one size fits all. That obviously means none of them fit very well. First installation visit resulted in us noticing they made them wrong. They made the 2 sides of the shutters different (no idea because that is not what we asked for) and put the incorrect side facing inwards. Okay pack up the shutters and take them back to their shop. Next install 3 shutters were scratched and needed to be returned to the shop for a second repair. 3rd time was the charm. Gaps between the shutters are all different, gaps around the shutters are all different and uneven - ranging anywhere from 1/8 to a 1/2. Definitely not worth what we paid in the end. Look elsewhere, you can do much better.

I love my shutters. They look wonderful. The process was very easy, Karl was great to work with and the staff was very attentive. I got a great price with some discounts for ordering all at once. The installer was excellent, efficient and thorough. Love that this is a local company offering wood custom shutters.The only area of improvement would be with customer communication. I was told by Karl that my shutters would be ready in 3-4 weeks. I had to call them at 4 weeks to discover it would be really 4-6 weeks and that they were behind because of a surge of orders. I got my shutters installed around 7 weeks. They mentioned that customers usually call before they get a chance to call them. This is why I gave 4 stars. If they are behind, they should call the customers first. I would recommend them for sure!

I got a set of shutters for my house. They arrived and were beautiful, but one didnt fit quite right. The company came back twice to fix them and made sure they were good in the end. Good customer service and really nice shutters that we are very happy with.

Most important, the finished product was fantastic. Two reason why I cannot give 5 stars. It took closer to 11-12 weeks to have them installed vs the 4-6 weeks I was told when I placed the order. Also when they arrived to install they had the wrong hardware even though it was clearly listed on the project folder. Regardless, Keith did an amazing job installing the shutters and as promised, they do look like they are original to the house.

Karl was both professional and knowledgeable.He was a pleasure to work with and truly interested in making sure that he exceeding our expectations.Our shutter are amazing! I have resisted posting a poor review like this for quite a while. In fact almost two years. Furthermore this is the only bad review I have ever felt the need to share publicly about any other contractor, business, etc generally choosing to keep said discussions internal and private with the business letting them fix things. At this point I’ve got nothing left.I originally chose Karl Ivester and New England Shutter Mills because of all their good reviews and positive experiences from other homeowners and businesses, but it has been anything but for my home. Sure if you’d like dozens of apologies for dropping the ball when Karl feels like getting around to you he will be happy apologize. However apologies only go so far when you’re still waiting for product you paid for to be installed, and when the installation that has been completed was done poorly. In fact when Karl came to re-inspect original install he pointed out things I wasn’t even upset about that he said were not to their standards. Well I don’t know where the standards are for communication and getting things done, but they aren’t there either. Like I said I have dozens of emails back and forth explaining many excuses as to why the job hasn’t been completed, yet it is still not completed near 2 years later.Today was the latest example. After I spoke to Karl 3 weeks ago on Jan 18th he was supposed to follow up with email and show up on Jan 28th. You guessed it. No email, no show, but another apology for dropping the ball. His words. Also his words were to pick a new time for this Monday 2/4/19. After sending back a response you guessed it. No email, no text, no phone call, no show today. Very disappointed in the product quality; even more disappointed in the extreme lack of professionalism in making good when you know your work did not turn out as promised.Perhaps most discouraging is that as a business owner when you have an unhappy customer you should be the one reaching out trying to make it right by the customer. Instead in this scenario I am the one that has had to initiate contact at least 4 different times generally with large chunks of time passing in between to keep any lines of communication open in hope of rectifying the current incomplete job status.Also discouraging was that the installer knew the shutters weren’t right from day one. I had been at home to let them in before work and in my process of getting ready came downstairs. You know when you enter a room and someone stops talking because they’re discussing something they don’t want you to hear? Yeah that was the installer talking with the owner Karl that morning. I should’ve known at that moment yet I waited to see how it would turn out, and this is why I am where I am with semi completed install of shutters that don’t look right and if I take them out all my woodwork and trim has been damaged and will have to be fixed just to get back to where I was prior to install.I can send along photos of poor install and emails to anyone looking for elaboration. Also happy to update and / or remove this posting entirely if Karl and New England Shutter Mills can make good on their original contract and promise to qualify and customer service. Otherwise this is my only recourse at this point for a disheartening experience overall.
