This place likes to take your money for driving records and say they’ll pay you back. But they never did. They want you to do paperwork and testing on your own time and won’t let you start work till you do it. Then they have you work and they don’t pay you. Also they think about themselves and expect you to work crazy hours and making them come first over your personal life. Worse place ever.

Very friendly service staff. Explained & discussed any recommended work that needed to be performed. Applied coupons I didnt even know were available to discount my overall bill. Helped me order new plates to pass inspection.

Purchasing a car from Mark Bernier was a great experience. From the moment I reached out with a question on a specific car, Mark was responsive and extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle, features and price. While walking me through the process, everyone was great and made things very easy. The dealership is clean, inviting and nobody there is pushy, just truly inviting. Marks attention to detail and my satisfaction is what keeps me coming back! We have purchased 2 cars through Mark and are looking at a third this summer/fall. As you may go through the reviews for this dealership you will notice every time a customer has an issue with this dealership, a perfectly crafted defensive response is crafted. This is how this dealership will treat you, like your the issue and they never do anything wrong. I understand that the bottom line is to make money but customer service needs to be improved tremendously. Maybe this dealership should focus its time on hiring better qualified service agents and especially managers.

I was really impressed on how well Commonwealth takes care of the customers. The minute I beeped my horn, an employee was there to check my car in for service. He reviewed what I scheduled and asked if I had any questions. Once we agreed on the service, I was given a time frame and directed to the waiting area. My car was finished and ready to go on time. While waiting for my car, I was so impressed at how much cleaning they are doing to keep their employees and customers safe during the pandemic...way above and beyond!! Anyone that is holding off to have their car serviced because of COVID should feel very comfortable waiting inside the waiting area.

Sales bait and switch. Spoke on the phone multiple times about the model we wanted. They said they had it and to come in the next day with a check. We did and they tried to sell us something else. Huge waste of time

I just leased my second vehicle from Commonwealth but my husband and I have been bringing our previous vehicles here for service beforehand as well. I love VWs and my husband prefers Hondas so it has been the perfect location for both of us.From the moment you step in the door you always feel incredibly welcomed, respected, and relaxed. Mark, Jeff, and Bob were a seamlessly team with putting me in my latest lease. Cassanda was great via text as well! I had a 2018 Tiguan and was interested in the R-line Tiguan (a difficult trim to get your hands on these days). They were patient and kind while I test drove a Passat but they knew what really wanted and were able to get me into my price range (saved me money with the recent grad discount) and before I knew it I driving home in my 2021 Tiguan R-line and I couldnt be any happier.Extra shout out to the Sales team who makes every time I need to come in the most seamless process as well. After being inundated with professionalism, relief, and exceptional knowledgeability at Commonwealth Volkswagen I felt it absolutely necessary to formulate a review! Car shopping is beyond stressful for me yet I was eased during this process working multiple days on a purchase with the Manager, Mark Bernier, and many other friendly faces at this location. Mark’s level of patience and expertise as he went over a variety of vehicles, their functions, and the processes that come along with a newer car purchase (insurance, dealing with the registry, getting rid of the old car, ECT) was immaculate! I have never had such service buying a car before (usually a nightmare)! He got me into a vehicle that I absolutely LOVE.. even down to the color. Commonwealth VW is my go to for all my buying and service needs! I always refer my family and friends to Mark Bernier cause I know he will treat them right and do all he can to get them a good deal. I live about 45 mins from Lawrence and have closer VW dealer to me but I will drive to Lawrence every time because the guys are my favorite.

On 03/26/2021 I had a Great Experience on a wonderful day at Commonwealth Motors Volkswagen. When I went to this dealership I was approached by the sale person Hans Malebranche he had ask me very polite for my name and if I needed any help, I told Hans that I made appointment to look at a new car, he then said he will show me around and then explained all the features on the 2021 VW Tiguan SUV that I was looking for. He was really helpful and well knowledgeful of all VW vehicles. Mark Bernier was great on the closing financing sale, I felt very pleased and confident with my purchase. At the end of my sale Bob The paper handler guy I dont remember his last name he was great. Everyone there was very friendly. I will recommend this dealership to anyone who needs a New or used vehicle.

DOES NOT CARE ABOUT COVID. While I was waiting for an oil change this morning I witnessed 2 staff members not wearing masks, one staff member take off her mask to talk to me, and a customer not properly wearing a mask (around his chin). In a time when COVID-19 is stronger than ever, this is completely unacceptable. When I confronted the front desk staff about this, he asked who did you see not wearing a mask? I had to inform him that it was the two men STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM - men who he was just previously talking to!!I will say, their service team was professional and their dealership appeared clean. Its their sales, BDC, and check-out staff that need to get their act together.

Our experience with Commonwealth Motors has always been a very positive one. When we heard the slogan “shop us last” we decided to give this place a try. Our first experience with a new young salesman helped us when we were in financial stress and no one else would give us a chance. We made good on that chance and today as we were servicing our lease... we decided to just take a look at a new addition. We met Tony L. Another young salesman with a kind heart, a desire to build a client base with trust and honesty and in 5 minutes I knew I was talking to the right person. After test driving four cars and paying close attention to my wants and needs Tony not only me a car but my partner one too! Two for the price of one... brand new and absolutely what we can afford. We had been putting off doing this and were sharing one car. Today, by chance we met a gentle man who I believe had my best interest at heart and am now sure I git the deal I needed when I would have continued to not have faced my fears of being unable to get the best price. Boooo. The 1st delay in the maintenance shop was that they ordered the wrong part. Not sure how a Volkswagen dealership doesnt know what part to order for a Volkswagen. After a week of delays the vehicle is being pulled out of there and we are taking it to a local shop. Essentially, a week to fix the parking brake. Definitely shop them last. Way too much drama for a few simple procedures.

As I am writing this, on Sunday, October 18th, 2020, my vehicle is still at the Commonwealth VW shop for the past 2 months. I dropped off my 2015 Volkswagen passat on Monday, the 17th of August 2020 because my EPC light and my check engine light was on. I have to let who ever is reading this know that I do not usually write bad reviews for businesses unless I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of service that I have received. So far, I am more than unhappy, I am extremely anxious and I hope the owner reads this and contact me because I have never heard of service taking more than 2 months to properly diagnose and fix a vehicle. I have to mention that Dave has done the best he could with the updates, and to his credit, he is trying the best he can with the info he receives from the technicians. However, I have stopped by there numerous times and it seems that my vehicle is not getting the attention that it deserves. I have remained without a rental since August. Their rental policies seems different from other dealerships because I have to rent it from Enterprise which at the moment is not possible for me. Or I was told that I may need to rent from another rental company, pay the fees in advance and I will be reimbursed later. Can you imagine renting a vehicle and not knowing for how long or how much the fees would run up? I did the math, my rental fees would have been close to TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for the 9 weeks. WOW!! I need a RENTAL ASAP!!! THIS CANNOT CONTINUE!!! I am very patient. I want my vehicle to be fixed in a timely manner. I just want to receive weekly updates from Dave, possibly every Thursday.Respectfully,Mr. Lafortune

Anthony Vancini is by far, the best salesperson I have dealt with in all of my experiences in purchasing/leasing vehicles. He is attentive, efficient and provides an experience that is unmatched. I appreciate that the sales person, sales managers and business manager work as a team and each of them is knowledgeable about the deal. Nothing is disjointed. The sales managers, Marshall and Marc knew the vehicle I wanted and worked with Anthony to make it all happen. Benny, the business manager, has managed to make the paperwork part of the process to actually be fun and not a painful experience. Anthony, Marshall, Marc and Benny are an exceptional team.

Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly--they were authentic and trustworthy. I never felt like I was being manipulated, as has been the case when Ive shopped for cars in the past. NEVER buy a car here. Sales people promise things they cannot do. In my experience I used to lease a car for 2 years and it was about to end on August, the sales people guarantied me that last payment would be cover by them but 5 months later I got a bill for the remaining month. Ive connected with the Finance people but they said the Sales person no longer work there and that they cannot make any clarification. I ended up paying the remaining month which I would not have any issue if they hadnt promised it.They lost a loyal customer, not as a dealership as the entire company.

Working with Chris Leblanc was a great stress free experience. Chris was professional, friendly and helpful throughout our first leasing experience. We are very happy with our new Jetta and look forward to doing business with Chris and Commonwealth Volkswagen again. High recommend giving them a chance especially if you are thinking about a Volkswagen. They had plenty of cars on site to look at and were more than happy to get me into the car I wanted even if they did not have it on the lot.

Friendly welcoming environment without high pressure tactics to sell to their customers. I am unsure why Commonwealth would say shop us last I shopped with them first and felt absolutely no need to go anywhere else. From my initial contact with Marshall to make an appointment to the service that I had at the dealership with Mark and Edwin I was beyond impressed. I recently went to Commonwealth Volkswagen for my 40,000 mile service. The staff was very pleasant and informative of the service to be provided. The wait time was quicker than the estimate given. The waiting area is comfortable and they had donuts and coffee and TV to keep me occupied while I waited. It was an overall pleasant experience.

Our experience could not have been a better one at Commonwealth. Purchasing a new car in a state other than the one we reside in seemed like a daunting task to get the correct registration, tags, etc...but both Chris and Marshall went the extra mile to ensure a smooth transaction and kept us updated on the process daily. I brought in my vehicle for maintenance and ended up having to get another car. Long story short articles were stolen from me I made numerous phone calls and was given the run around. I will never return there,and made sure all my friends and family never use them either. Very disappointed!In response to your reply, I do not have the wrong dealership. I worked with a sales rep named Tony. I still have the text messages proving I tried to claim my stolen articles and was brushed off! Secondly the vehicle brought in for service was not a Volkswagon. I used your service center because it was actually recommended to me. The cost of maintenance was so high I ended up purchasing another vehicle thru one of your sales representative.

Worst car buying experience I’ve ever had. I Had an agreement with sales rep (Hans), had my car appraised and left deposit, the following day I called in to finalize it by giving them the title etc... it turned out they made a mistake by 8grand, and we’re cancelling The sale.. commonwealth wouldn’t honor the agreement or Make an offer even close to which had been agreed on....I would avoid this dealership at all costs, conmen in suits....

My experience was excellent at Commonwealth Motors. I was very pleased by how caring and understanding both Matt and Hans were towards me. I was in an awful situation trying to get trade in a vehicle that I had purchased through another dealership and it depreciated significantly within 1 year since I purchased it and they did whatever they could to get me out of the situation to ensure that I would be able to get as much for my trade in vehicle in order to purchase a new car from them. I couldn’t be more happy with everything they did for me and going the extra mile to try and figure out ways to help me cancel my previous warranties, etc. I am so happy with the service I received and my family has been purchasing vehicles from Commonwealth Motors (specifically Volkswagen) for years and this is my first purchase and will definitely not be my last. For the service center. These people will scam you and take your money. Came here a little under a year ago for an annual check up on my Jetta. It was supposed to be a free service. I wait for about an hour and a half and a gentlemen came out to talk to me. He said that a part needed to be replaced on the back brakes. Apparently they were rusting. He said it would cost $45. I said okay go ahead $45 is alright. In an hour the car was ready again. It wasnt fully explained to me exactly what need to be replaced just that it need to get done and it would be easy. Because of this I didnt second guess them. When it came time to pay I was handed a bill for $480. Apparently the man heavy Boston accent made the $480 bill sound like $45. I explained that I had not agreed to this. When I gave them the go ahead to replace the part I said $45 sure I can pay that today. I was scammed. There were no apologies or acknowledgment of wrong doing on the part of the service center. I was told once the parts were on I needed to pay and they wouldnt take them off. I would NEVER recommend this place. Honestly the worst part of it all, is that my back breaks still squeak a year after they put this new part in. Whatever they did only made things worse. DONT GO HERE.

What a joke this place is I stop by to drop my car off for service since I was in the area. They didnt do anything I ask them to do they didnt balance the wheel they didnt check the brakes all they kept trying to do was upsell me on some wheel bearings that didnt need to be replaced. Stay away from this place I swear if I could give them negative Stars I wouldnt even give him a star at all.

I had to take my 2001 VW Beetle into the dealership after I suddenly lost my power steering. The staff there is so friendly and professional. They fixed my car very quickly and kept me in the loop the whole time. I personally dealt with Dave. He spoke in a way that gave me full confidence in him, the staff, and the company. If you need help with your VW, take it here!

We turned up ready to buy a car on the day. Showed up at 9am as soon as they opened. The poor sales associate was trying to find us cars to look at but between her not having a list of cars and prices to pull up and the stock of cars that were not on the lot or somewhere else on the lot, we drove one car in 3 hours. Went to another dealership down the road and drove away with a new car in less time. Not to mention they offered us a better deal on a certified car and an additional $1,000 for our trade in.This wasnt the sales associates fault, they just have a really bad system for their sales team to track inventory (she was using the website) and the inventory listed online wasnt actually on the lot. Poor management in my opinion.

This is the second VW weve purchased from Commonwealth VW. Very happy with the dealership. Sales and finance staff are very considerate and accommodating. Got a great offer for our trade and the purchase was easy. Our past experiences with the service department have been very satisfying. The entire team is terrific and they work hard to earn your business. You can shop them last but save yourself the trouble and shop them first!

Awful/Spiteful owner. They didnt have the color car i wanted so i had to go elsewhere. I even offered the sales girl, Scarlett $100 cause i felt bad.Now for service they took my appointment and cancelled it and tried to push it out over a month to spite us. Good way to earn future business. Go elsewhere where they actually care about their reputation. I was told the owner, Charlie, had them do this. Dont let them pretend they care about the community with their nonsense ads.Shop us last should be shop us NEVER.

Took my VW in for its first service, had an oil change and tire rotation. I even received a complimentary wash as well! Always loved Commonwealth as a dealer not because I live so close but because they are a quality run family facility! My parents bought cars from them since the early 2000s.

Great service and trustworthy service advisers.I have been using this dealer for the maintenance of my 2006 Passat (2 years). The hourly rate is identical to the regular garage down the street. For the same price I am getting factory trained technicians and warranty. I have always dealt with Mark Defrancesco. He is very honest and explains all the suggested repairs. I really like that he understands that it is a 10 year old car and never tries to push me to do unneeded repairs. Always gives me a great price as well. I am in and out the same day with great shuttle service to and from work.

I originally had a Honda HR-V in mind. Our salesperson, Jesse Allen, was great to work with, but it was simply out of our price range. We wanted to keep working with Jesse, so we decided to look at VW Jettas -also at Commonwealth. Jesse kept working with us the next day and helped get us a great deal on an awesome car.
