The place is great and has a nice selection of amazing instruments but if it’s not there, no worries! They will have it shipped to the store in a few days. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. My only issue was waiting to check out. Their so helpful they run out of staff members sometimes to get you checked out. But from my experience I would rather get that great service and just wait a few mins more to get checked out. I’m sure I will be back in there to get more!

Overall great place to do business with. Lots of items in stock and found some great deals. Their guitar tech, Joe, did a setup on my Aria Pro bass and did an outstanding job! My 33 year old Aria sounds like a brand new guitar. I had planned on selling this piece, but after playing it Ive decided to keep it. The action is much improved and the tone sounds amazing!Would recommend to anyone!

Went in to see about buying a book for learning keyboard and to see about getting information on lessons. When I was walking in, Im currently on crutches from a foot surgery, and although there were several employees around none offered to help with the door. The entire time I was there no one asked if I needed any help or even looked at me. There were a few other customers in the store but there seemed to be a lot more employees then customers and not have a single person ask if I had any questions is off putting. When I was leaving there was an employee by the repair station and while I was struggling with the door he still didnt offer to help. Its a little difficult to open a door while using crutches. Was my first and will likely be my last time here.

So, just got my first guitar. Have no idea what I am doing but I am exited to do it.Guitar center staff is the most passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly staff that I have had the pleasure to speak with. They are excellent!The guitar I wanted had to be ordered. They helped with that. A couple of the strings were broken when it came in. They fixed them without a second thought. I asked what I needed and they sold me not the most expensive, but what they thought was the most appropriate.And all of this while they were crazy busy. Never losing their cool, never jumping over one another or shortchanging their service to any of their customers.Cant say enough about the staff here. Thank you all!

Great place if youre into music like me, but they have a horrible DJ section. Ive been a DJ for over 25 years, and Everytime I visit there and every Guitar Center, there DJ section sucks. Im sorry to say that but check it out and you will see what Im talking about. Everything is always broke or missing and the staff try to help you but they really need someone that just works in that section that knows what they are talking about. It could be so much better, thanks.

Picked up my SG today. Awesome guitar. And the two guys there that helped me were great. I was excited and they were excited that I was excited..lol. Its my first guitar of my own. This acoustic has tortured my left hand and Im so grateful for the smaller neck. Two guys helped when I ordered,i had no idea what I wanted. No pressure, Lucas maybe was one of them. It was slow and they opened an Orange amp,told me to just plug in and figure it out. They would wander back over to say hi. What A Great Experience for this Guy. Bought my first ever guitar there. A really nice, low-end acoustic that was really beautiful. However, they did not have the one I wanted (and could afford) in a box in the back. So, I had to take the guitar on display. Its in good shape of course, but, I wanted that fresh out-of-the-box feeling Id imagine one gets after purchasing their for guitar. I walked out without a case for my new first guitar and did not receive any special deals on a set of strings, picks, a strap or even a beginners book on chords or scales or something! So, spent $155.00 on a $120 brand new guitar plus tax and strings and picks and a strap. They never even mentioned, Hey, how about a caring case to protect your first and brand spanking new guitar?

I called this pathetic excuse of a music store asking about a foot tambourine, and the associate said they had two available, I told them that I lived far away, and would be arriving shortly to purchase. When I arrive they of course didnt have any, and he said that the two that he mentioned were broken. Ill never spend a single penny at this store ever again. Not only did he lie to me on the phone, he wasted my time by driving an hour away. If you need music gear just get it through sweet water online. Hell buy it from Amazon. Just dont support this company, Ive had other issues in the past, but this is my final straw.

I will never buy another thing online from guitar center. I bought a Rogue 090 from guitar center online could not get it to tune. Started tuning and buy the time you finished the first strings were out of tune. Went and bought a new deltalab tuner still not able to tune . In the process of tuning the 4 th string tuning peg stripped. I took it to guitar center it was gonna cost me 80 dollars to fix a brand new guitar. I paid 67 for it on sale new 76 days ago . Didnt notice that it had spider web cracking damage on the back side until I carried it outside to go to guitar center witch probably happened in shipping. Live and learn . I am done with them. P.S. having a local business look it over and fix it .

All I have to say is Joe the guitar tech is phenomenal!! He installed some lambertone pickups in my guitar along with a 920d harness. Not only was he helpful, explained EVERYTHING, kept my guitar in stellar condition. But he was extremely personable and is an absolute asset to this company. If he ever left I think I might be done with this place... he is the saving grace of this place thus far for me. I will continue to spend money if he is there... excellent tech

I went in here yesterday (4/9/21) with every intention to purchase a $3,000 Gibson Les Paul and an amp. After standing on the floor looking up at them and doing my best to flag someone down to let me hold one for over an hour, I gave up.I purchased a couple items I had already picked up and went home. The guy working the door had to check me out since there seemed to be no one else work and during the checkout I wasnt asked a single question about my visit.Im surprised some businesses in this area make any money. I know I wouldnt be happy as a business owner if my staff were letting sales walk out the door.After leaving here I stopped by Open Chord on Kingston Pike and the staff there was amazing. They didnt have any electric Gibson Guitars, but I did try out a Suhr and its pretty amazing. Im considering it Instead of the Les Paul now.Update: I did eventually purchase (cash) a $3,000 guitar at open chord and its amazing. Im completely baffled that this guitar center cares so little about their customers. Maybe gibson isnt what it used to to considering they sell their guitars at such low quality service centers. Ive been to several live music events at open chord since this original review and open chord is an amazing local business. If youre Interested in an amazing guitar or great live music, check out open chord and skip the hassle of the non caring large chain called guitar center.

Employees are rude as hell, and are reluctant to help you out. When asked if I have a mask, I replied with I am vaccinated, which is true and that there is no mask mandate in Tennesee anymore. The employee then asked for my vaccination card that I dont carry on me and said regardless if I am or not, I must still wear a mask or the police will be called. Since I just wanted to go look for a new guitar, I grabbed my old mask and went in only to be treated as if I wasnt actually there. Dont ever come here, go support your local music stores that actually care about you and what you need. I have zero intention on ever coming back here for anything

Well, I see its not just limited to one certain Guitar Center that Ive visited across America that has very rude employees. Every Guitar Center Ive patronized has had very rude employees except for the Guitar Center in Macon, Georgia. This location in Knoxville so far has taken the cake in rudeness. I understand that we have a pandemic and should wear masks, however due to my health, I am unable to wear a mask and after explaining this twice, I was still asked to leave the store with 20 grand in my pocket to purchase a new sound system. So, I left this store and drove to Sam Ash in Nashville, Tn. and wound up with a better deal and had money left over. I would not recommend any Guitar Center to anyone except for the Macon, Ga. location. Guitar Center sucks all across America.

Always friendly. Always accessible.And I was one of their first customers in May / June after they reopened after several employees had contracted COVID. It devasted their store and thats why they stick to a mask only policy.

I said loudly, Excuse me, can I get someone to take my money???. He says, I will be with you in a couple minutes and begins to walk away. I’ve spent around 3,000 dollars at this location over the past few years. I went in the other day to try out an expensive piece of gear I’ve had my eye on. After waiting a while the manager Rico opened it up to let me try it. He stood there and hovered over me I guess to make sure I didn’t break anything, like I’m a kid or something. While I was trying to hear the gear and determine if I wanted to buy it, I hear the manager complaining to his staff that he can’t help other customers because β€œhe had to stand here and watch me.” It was honestly very distracting and he made it feel like I was being such a hassle, just trying to play a piece of gear just like every other customer is entitled to. I’ve noticed an entirely new staff compared to this time last year and honestly they’re nowhere near as friendly or knowledgeable. After trying the product out for 15 minutes or so I decided to wait until my next time coming in. I have some gear that I bought from GC I’d like to sell back to put towards the new gear. So I check out with a small purchase of some things I needed and the cashier with long hair, partially balding on the top, basically guilt trips me for not buying the gear that day. I explained him the reason and that I would return to buy it and he decided to smart off to me. I guess he thought I wouldn’t notice. He says β€œoh so just the strings for you? Sick dude.” I mange a retail store and I get that it is a performance based job and he was probably missing some type of financial benefit from me not buying it from him, but that is no excuse to carry yourself in an unprofessional manner. Due to the staff’s behavior I am most likely not going to buy the unit they have there. I intend to use it for studio purposes and a rack mounted version makes more sense and there’s a used one on GC.com for a few hundred less than a new pedal version. I hope this is a lesson learned for the staff, or at least hopefully, someone in a management position above them reads this review and it catches someone’s attention. After my last experience at this store I think it might just be my last time shopping there. I’m typically not a guy who leaves bad reviews but I just felt I needed to put this out there.

Unfortunately I took my 13 year old daughter here today. She is a budding musician playing guitar and ukulele and was thrilled because it was her first visit. I was looking to buy a keyboard and guitar accessories. I calmly and kindly explained to the manager that I had a medical (heart) condition and was unable to participate in the mask movement. He then embarrassed and berated me in front of the entire store by threatening to call law enforcement. It is such a shame that individuals must be punished for having medical conditions. I hope others will take this into consideration before shopping here.

Yesterday was the third attempt to purchase from Guitar Center and it was another failure. My husband has tried to purchase a guitar and again it took forever for his to get the case for his guitar only again to get a substandard case that was not the case that comes with the guitar he wanted to purchase. The experience of purchasing a guitar should be a great experience since it he wanted to purchase a over $1,000 guitar only to get a cheap case because the staff could not find the one that comes with the guitar not to mention the staff lied and said it was the correct case. 3 times is a charm for us and will not purchase from guitar center. They really need to get organized and not try to rip off the customer with what ever case they want to get rid of so buyer beware and do your research before buying.

A SALE LOSTDrove over an hour to buy a PRS S2 Custom guitar or the PRS SE 24th Anniversary guitar. The website lead me to believe it had both, but upon arrival to the Knoxville Store it only had the SE Anniversary guitar which I was considering of buying. My plan was to purchase one the guitars along with an amp for my keyboard and cables and accessories for both. After waiting patiently for the three sale persons to finish with two customers, I thought one would assist me. I decided to approached a salesman and asked to retrieve the anniversary guitar and asked about the S2 and told him I had some questions. After he retrived the guitar down he handed to me and said they didnt have the S2 and walked away and went to front with the other two associates and played with some cables and thier phones or whatever was more important while losing other sales along with mine as other customers started walking out. My wife was upset and approached one of the associates and told her I was interested in a purchase and she told her the guitar had to be ordered and continued on with her associates.Long story short you lost a big purchase along with other potential sales. I will be buying from one of your competitors and I will follow up with a post of the sales ticket to show and prove what poor salesmanship sales accomplishes*0 Dollars*...Dont waste your time and gas. Your money can be spent in a place that wants your business.
