I would highly recommend Dr. Connell and the staff at Volunteer Eyecare Halls. We just moved to the area from Illinois and needed to find a provider in our insurance plan. The staff was so friendly and accommodating every time we called. I have a difficult eye condition to fit contact lenses and was very impressed with Dr. Connell and his expertise and the time he took to explain everything. I was fitted with lenses and this was the best fit and acuity I have ever had! And I also had to be seen a week later due to an unexpected eye injury and the office fit me in that same day, Dr. Connell diagnosed the problem, called in the medication, and I was better in a couple days. Plus...they clinic plays Christian music in the background which means a lot to me personally!

Dr. Connell was excellent. He treated me and my kiddo both with such care and concern. I didn’t feel rushed or tied to a clock. He treated us as though we were the only patients he had. He was patient, professional and understanding with me and my contact needs (no easy task). I couldn’t possibly recommend him any higher.

Everyone treated me with respect and helped find glasses my insurance would cover. Very helpful and patient. Dr. Connell was very outgoing and answered all my questions. Can not wait for my glasses! Wonderful service!

I was definitely scared to go in for my diabetic eye exam since I hadn’t had one in a few years... staff was super friendly, and the office was very clean, and set up nicely for social distancing. Dr. Connell was absolutely fantastic and made me feel at ease during the whole process. I would recommend to everyone, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my eye exams.

A COURTESY call would have been appreciated instead of driving 30 miles round trip for our appointment time to hear that Unfortunately, your glasses havent come in yet.

You will be hard pressed to find an eye doctor with the chair side manner of Dr. Connell. He treats your eyes as if they belong to him...and they do. Dr. Connell never fails to take any and all necessary time to explain your results and answer all questions. Make it a point of seeing optician tech Meotia as she goes out of her way to insure you get precisely what you need in New glasses....and nothing you dont need. Absolutely better than 5 stars consistently.

I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment with Dr. Connell at Volunteer Eyecare in Powell! He did a thorough exam, including my diabetes eye exam, and explained all his findings in great detail! My opinions were not brushed off, but taken seriously.The staff was also excellent. I had picked out some frames from the offices website. I tried them on and loved them! I cant wait for my new glasses to arrive!

Took my eyeglaases for an adjustment last, they snapped the leg off the frame. They did however cut me a check for the frames but they shorted me $11 dollars from what the receipt said? The whole process has left me frustrated as the frames were deadstock designer etc. Please use caution.

The physician and exam were excellent? The office staff is in serious need of classes in customer service. Called twice to come back to office for things that they forgot to do! No apologies, no explanation. My time is just as valuable as theirs and lack of acknowledgement, apologies, offers to correct actions lead me to give this dismal rating. It will be interesting to see if I get a response. No phone call from office mgr all day today after office staff was well aware of my dissatisfaction.

Had gotten glasses for my daughter at the Hall’s office recently and was pleased with her service. When the earpiece fell off my glasses yesterday morning I was left without functional glasses. I called Volunteer and was given an appt that morning. Once there I had a very thorough exam which included also very thorough explanations of medical problems noted by the optometrist. New glasses was chosen and my damaged glasses were checked but were unable to be repaired. From the receptionist to each staff member who helped me I appreciated their friendly assistance.

I found the doctor to be great. However, these are the worst glasses Ive ever had. They scratched almost immediately. Then, my puppy got them. Although I paid extra for protection, they refused to repair the puppy bites.

Excellent practice. Dr. Connell has been nothing less than excellent with me and with anyone I’ve recommended him too as well. He explains your eyes to you very well and keeps you informed on choices that are available for you.I actually look forward to my yearly now. The staff is also great and as helpful as you could ask for. I definitely give this practice the 5 stars.

We LOVE Dr. Connell. So much so that we followed him from his last practice to this one. He has always been so patient and kind with our entire family. From my husband and myself to our hyper boys he has continued to always show the same professional yet personal care. We have a variety of eye care needs and he has always excelled in caring for each individual need. The staff is also very impressive. They never give you anything short of a sweet smile and a pleasant greeting. Whether it is phone care or in person they make sure you get the help you need.

I have been a patient at the Halls Volunteer Eyecare office for almost four years, and the care I have received has been consistently excellent. Dr. Steven Elliott and staff are a great group of people—professional, experienced, and kind. My eye exams have been thorough and comfortable. The office has a wide selection of nice looking frames for eye glasses, and the time interval for receiving new frames and prescriptions is thankfully very short. I look forward to my annual visit to the office. I can’t say that about all my medical appointments!

Been coming to this optometrist since 2005. Dr. Hammer is an amazing optometrist. The entire staff makes you feel welcome and they are very friendly. Please consider this practice if you are needing an optometrist. I promise you wont regret it.

This is an amazing practice I have yet to have a bad experience here! Dr. Connell is great and extremely patient and caring. He takes the time to listen and do your exam right and make sure your getting the right prescription! The staff out front is helpful and will make sure you are happy with your frames before you leave. This last time there was an issue with my prescription being ready on time but they made sure to get it fixed and keep me informed of the situation! We will continue to use this office for a long time!

Best eye exam I have had in YEARS! Dr.Elliott took his time until he got the prescription right. I could see so much better than with my old glasses which were only about 6 months old. The proof will be in the glasses themselves which I am picking up next week. Thats the only reason I am giving a 4 star instead of a 5 (reserving one for the glasses). Will update my rating next week.

Dr. Connell is fantastic. I have had issues with the front of the house, however. Twice, I have arrived at the Halls location to pick up/drop off during posted business hours and have found the door locked with no one to wait on customers. For customers, it might be worth a phone call first, before making the trip. For the business owners, it might be worth investigating whether my experience was a fluke or a pattern.

Dr. Connell and his staff have been amazing from day one. He answered all of my questions about having lasik surgery and referred me and things have been awesome. Now seeing better than 20/20 and Dr. Connell is doing great keeping up with my checkups. Highly recommend!!! Thanks everyone.

Im in the construction business where things just happen to eyes even though I wear shatterproof lens. Dr. Elliott immediately took care of me, got me to Baptist Eye Clinic within one phone call. Been going here for years and Dr. Connell is the best! He genuinely strives to do what is best for his patients. I have been going here for several years and wont go anywhere else because of him. He always works with me and remembers what we discussed the previous year. He is never afraid of trying different things to get you the best results.

I had a piece of glass scratch my eye and walked into Volunteer Eyecare on an emergency basis and even though Id never been there before, Dr. Connell took me right away and helped me. He was great!

I can see!!! :) I was having a very difficult time with my vision, after the eye examines were over it was clear I needed a strong Rx. I picked out my glasses when they were ordered and in, in about a week-week and a half. my insurance covered most of the cost. Wish all businesses in Knoxville were as courteous and professional as these guys!! Good experience. I recommend them.

Amazing eye care. I have Macular Degeneration and Dr. Elliot gave me a thorough exam and went over all of the results with me. The biggest surprise was when I received the glasses that hed prescribed I could see! Ive been going to a different doctor for four years and have not been able to see with the new prescriptions. Was told that was the best he could do. Not so! Awesome to be able to see!
