Fantastic LYS. Although the store is small, they pack a lot of great stuff in there. They update their stock often with interesting, fun, new finds and have trunk shows to showcase specific yarns. Besides having a great yarn selection they also have really neat embroidery kits, enamel pins, bags, notions, etc. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they create an inviting, inclusive atmosphere.

Cute little shop. The owner(or whomever was working) was very helpful and offered to spin my yarn for me and bag it all back up. Lots of selection almost couldnt decide what to get.

The cutest little yarn shop! Can’t believe it took me so long to visit. The staff working were very helpful and friendly! It’s nice chatting with other folks who love knitting. I also love their commitment to social justice, it means a lot to me. I can’t wait for the pandemic to get under control so I can attend some of their events!

This is my LYS, I tend to spend more than anticipated everytime I stop by and for good reason: they have a lot of great stuff! The staff is always friendly and helpful, they also give guidance with projects, which is what I usually need. Definitely worth the stop when youre in the city!

Condescending, abrupt, and rude staff made me feel terribly embarrassed for no reason at all. I am scarred for life. I’ve never been treated that way before.

The most woke yarn shop and Ive been to yarn shops all over the country. . Theyve got yarn from near (like dyed locally) and far (like other countries). They also have notions, other crafts, cute souvenirs of Kansas City at various price points.Friendly, patient, eager, inclusive staff. They also give you space when youre just looking, letting you take time to browse. Yarn Social has made a great effort in getting their online shop up and running for distant-shopping, and they do online pickup as well as curbside pickup. Right now you can also book a video-time with a staff member to shop virtually which really goes a long way towards what I love about shopping with a local independent store instead of online.

If you are thinking about picking up a new hobby stop into Yarn Social. The service is exceptional and the selection is so large it can be overwhelming. But, the owners will help you find what you are seeking (and point you to new opportunities).

I dont understand how a business just randomly closes on a day of normal businesses hours? And there was nothing on the website indicating. Drove a special trip down here, extremely disappointed.

I was looking for local yarn, and this is the place. They also have a wide selection of beautiful yarns from all over. The staff is soooo friendly and helpful. Such a fun place for anyone who loves to knit or crochet! Thank you ladies!

I love supporting local business. I went in for yarn for a baby blanket. I was looking for cotton yarn. There were two people working and about 4 customers. One woman was engaged with a customer and giving her excellent service while the other was working on a task. No one greeted me when I entered. Its a very small shop. It was clear I needed help but didnt want to interrupt. Finally after about 5 minutes someone asked if I needed help. She hurriedly showed me a few things and went back to a personal conversation with her customer. I couldnt find what I was looking for and was put off by the lack of willingness to help. Im going to order what I need online. The selection was fine. Staff seemed knowledgeable but should learn how to help multiple people. Its not a self-service type of store.

I love this place!! Wonderful customer service and just a friendly, cozy atmosphere not to mention amazing skeins everywhere. Cant wait to go again.

Trish has made such a warm and welcoming space in Kansas City. I love the knitting and spinning social hours and am there most every week at least once. Im so happy to have Yarn Social in my life, although my bank account is not as thrilled.... : )

I could hardly wait and stopped in the day after the soft opening. This yarn shop has a beautifully curated selection of the most beautiful hand-dyed yarns available....Hedgehog, Primrose, Lichen and Lace...oh my. I’m looking forward to attending knitting evenings in the “living room” and meeting the owner, who has really great taste in yarn!

Yarn Social is my home away from home. Its a beautiful well-stocked shop with friendly, knowledgeable staff welcome to all skill levels and yarn crafts. But more than that owner Trish is committed to making an inclusive community for crafters. Open social hours (prepandemic) are a place to meet friends and visiting knitters, get tips and tricks, have a snack, and compare the latest project everyones working on. Its truly the best yarn store Ive ever been to.

Fantastic new yarn shop in the West Plaza neighborhood. Owner is friendly and helpful. Selections include yarn from local textile artisans in a variety of weights and colors. Accessories such as knitting needles and crochet hooks are also kept in stock as well as a small selection of notions.

Yarn Social is a very well-organized shop with many beautiful yarns and accessories. Trish has knitting and spinning get- togethers that are fabulous fun. She has done a spectacular job!

The customer oriented service is top notch! The website encourages both calls and text messages; I chose texting because my day is hectic with work and family. They responded promptly, and helped suggest additional storefronts that could assist me more (since I needed something more than supplies). They are so nice and wonderful!

They technically had the yarn brand I was looking for but only in two colors. I called ahead and assumed that yes we have that brand meant yes we have a wide selection of that brand.

Awesome yarn shop full of beautiful indie dyed yarns as well as some great standard yarns. The two ladies working there when I visited were friendly, kind, and helpful. If Im ever back in KC this will be my first stop!

I drove up to KC from Parsons, KS. The staff were friendly and polite, and I walked away with 2 skeins Id only ever seen on the internet and 1 skein Id never heard of before. Pricing is fair and reasonable, and all available yarns I could see were of fantastic quality. Loved it!!

Friendly and fiber-knowledgeable staff. Great, wide selection of indie-dyer and staple yarn which is displayed by weight, dyer, and color making it easy to find what you need. Unique finishings like ceramic and bamboo buttons and garment closures were a pleasant surprise.They do carry knitting needles, stitch markers and the like, some of the chic knitting books like Pom Pom, and some kits. This is a great place to go if youre just getting started or if youre an established yarn artist.

This is by far my favorite yarn store! They stock an awesome selection of beautiful yarn in all colors, plus lots of other useful items and cute notions for all your fiber art needs. Everyone at the shop is friendly and fun to talk to and the overall atmosphere/vibe is extremely pleasant and uplifting. 5/5 stars for sure!

Love, love, LOVE this shop! A great addition to Kansas City with an assortment of yarns not found in other shops - great taste in yarn :-). Very inviting living room that is a great place to sit & knit (or for significant others to relax while us fiber enthusiasts enjoy the treasures in the shop).

I was visiting Kansas City from out of town and this is the third yarn shop I stopped at on my personal yarn journey and I am so glad I found this place. Not only is the selection incredible, the space is friendly and bright and adorable, as are all of the staff. Such genuinely good vibes and my only complaint is that I dont have a yarn store this nice near me.

Very upset after my first visit to the store this afternoon. I recently moved to Kansas City from out of state and I am looking for my new go to yarn shop. I was excited to see one so close to my home with great reviews and was hoping to even join in on the social nights that they offer.I asked if I could use their yarn baller and they said no, that it can only be used for yarn bought in store. Thats fine, but really rubbed me the wrong way as someone who intended to buy yarn and supplies for years to come...and only needed to ball some yarn to finish up my current project. I certainly dont understand that business logic, as it would cost them nothing to allow someone to ball up some yarn and they could have gained a forever customer this afternoon.I didnt feel welcome here at all and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Nice selection of yarns and notions, but most important is the very helpful staff. If you are a beginner they are happy to help you with anything you are struggling to accomplish or understand in your pattern.
