Outstanding service in a beautiful setting. The staff and Doctor were professional and polite. This was my first eye exam in more years than i care to share. My outcome was great and I credit everyone for making me feel like i mattered. The visit, frames and lenses were easily affordable.I highly recommend A1A Family Eyecare and VSP vision insurance.

After moving to the Jacksonville area from St. Augustine, I was happy to learn that my long time former eye doctor was affiliated with A1A as well. My first appointment at this location was terrible. I had a 4:30 appointment and did not leave until closing time (6). I was fine with the wait since I didn’t have anything else scheduled and most of the employees were friendly until it was time for them to close. Dr. Gebhard(?) seemed a little frazzled, but I’m use to this behavior from other situations so it didn’t bother me too much. During the contact lens training, an employee by the name of TARA rudely interrupted and stated “We close in 5 minutes, wrap it up or you’re gonna need to reschedule.” Her tone was extremely rude. Up until this point, I had ignored the long wait time, even though I came after an 10 hour work day and was still having a positive mindset. But I do not take kindly to unwarranted rudeness. I explained Taras behavior to the Doctor and it was brushed off as “Oh, she’s just having a bad day”. LOL won’t be back.

Worst experience ever at an eye care establishment. I was told that I had “really great insurance” and they completely maxed out my benefits. Waited over 2 months for my glasses and they claimed it was the lab’s fault. When they did finally come in they were obviously the wrong prescription. Tried to get them corrected and they realized that they couldn’t even read the doctor’s handwriting on the prescription. Horrible experience. Avoid this place and look elsewhere.

The staff is great and the office is very clean. Anna at the front desk is always very friendly and upbeat. You never have to wait and the doctor spends plenty of time with you.

Whoever read my old glasses prescription you should get your own eyes checked

This is the second time Ive gotten my eye exam and prescription from A1A Family Eyecare. Ive also taken my son in for an eye exam, and have my daughter scheduled for next week.The doctors and exam portion are great. The techs know how to time the glaucoma-test between blinks, the retinal photography is so much better than being dilated, and the doctor is friendly and efficient in fitting a prescription.The office staff shines. Two years ago, a woman spent over an hour helping me pick out new frames, when I wanted to change my style. She didnt have to -- there were a number we could have settled for, but she wanted to make sure we got the BEST frames... and we did! (And they wound up being one of the lower-priced options... they were just the option that looked the best on me!)Today, the same woman was there to help me. She remembered me from 2 years ago. I wasnt able to get new lenses for my (now obsolete) frames, but she helped me quickly find another pair. She also helped me navigate insurance benefits so that -- with a pair of glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses -- I got the maximum savings.Ill come back again, and would recommend this place to anyone.

I was so impressed with the customer service and solutions today visiting A1A family eyecare for the first time today. I am highly recommending them for sure! I had a pair of glasses that needed repair, I did not purchase these glasses from this optical shop but was having a hard time finding a place that sold the Silhouettes. I called ahead of time and was told I didnt need an appointment. I walked in and was greeted by friendly front staff and was immediately assisted. They were able to fix my glasses in a very timely manner, same day!! Cant ask for more than that! And extremely reasonable price at that! When it comes time for a new pair no question I will be returning! Thank you for a great experience today!!

Their service is absolutely excellent! I loved the staff and they made me feel right at home. This will definitely be my home go to eye care Center. They will be getting my service & money for a long time lol.

By far has always been best eye care all around. Just wish they hadnt moved from their beaches location. But it is understandable, almost every retailer did.

My wife and I went there for prescription sunglasses. Andrea and Rainey provided World Class customer service and were extremely pleasant and accommodating. These ladies really get it!

Would give 5 stars for professionalism and good work...however I give two stars because they maxed out my benefits and made me pay out of my pocket when it was not necessary. The goal for them was to dry my pockets. The eye exam was very expensive, and they supplied contacts for 3 months supply overpriced. When I checked I could have gotten a year supply with an outside company for the same price...RIP OFF REPORT...

I have been wearing corrective lenses for 32 years and during that time I have seen many many eye practitioners, and unfortunately I have to say my experience with A1A Family Eye care for my recent contact lens eye exam was by far the worst experience I have ever had. First, I was told that my sister and partner could not be in the exam room with me because the doctor had issues with being claustrophobic, then they tell me my contacts I have been wearing for years were discontinued and the manufacturer didnt make them anymore, which is untrue. They attempted to put me in another brand and when I complained about how uncomfortable they were they then were able to order me my brand/type I have been wearing for years; come to find out the brand/type was still very popular and being made they just lost their relationship with the company and didnt have them in stock. When they gave me my trial contacts they were the wrong prescription, TWICE! I had to go back to my previous eye doctor and get that prescription from last year and then they just adjusted their prescription to match the one I had previously. I would not recommend this eye care establishment.

Caring, accommodating staff and excellent diagnostic eyecare and treatment. Dr. Horning is a game changer. He and his vision therapists gave us hope and through dedicated work and corrective lenses my son now has binocular vision, can perceive depth of field, and is improving his ability to actually see letters on a a page. We deeply appreciate Dr. Horning and the entire crew at A1A.

I highly recommend A1A Family Eye Care. As a person who had Lasik 7 years ago and who previously had horrible vision, I was hesitant to go to an optometrist instead of an opthalmologist. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of attention, care and expertise provided to me by Dr. Horning and his staff. They took their time to accurately diagnose me and were extremely thorough. Dr. Horning was very attentive to my concerns and- something I find extremely lacking in the health industry- actually showed he was actively LISTENING to me. I didnt feel like they were just selling glasses or contacts to random people. It took me a long time to decide on a pair of glasses and the staff were very helpful, patient and engaging even though Im sure my indecisiveness was a bit annoying.If you need your eyes checked, this is a good place to go. If you are concerned about a more serious issue with your eyes, this is still a good place to go and if you really need M.D. attention, I feel confident they will refer you to someone great.

Did not like the experience at this clinic. I am totally disappointed, the staff is not easy to work with. The school bus was delayed so they denied my sons appointment because I was late by 4 minutes after the leisure time. The staff are rude.

Dr. Horning is Amazing with difficult cases & especially with children (pediatric patients). My child is legally blind & was misdiagnosed by more than 2 other pediatric OPHTHAMOLOGISTS in Jacksonville, causing her to miss/go past the critical period/age range for treatment. We had to travel to Shands in Gainesville in order to find *One* Eye Dr who would/could take her case (rather than leaving her disabled 4 life). After reaching the limits of treatment @ Shands, my child still had significant vision issues so I researched VISION THERAPY & found Dr. Horning. My child improved so significantly that we were all Astounded!! Grades improved from a high C to Straight As, the Drivers License Vision Test was passed, EVERYTHING was better - honestly, I thought my child would never drive. We cant thank Dr. Horning enough - he changed our lives for the better! Also, unlike many doctors, he has carefully chosen his staff & they are the nicest, sweetest, most accommodating people weve come across. Dr. Horning is extremely patient, calm and kind to EVERYONE - even the kids who squirm in the chair & cant tell better or worse when asked during a refraction. I wouldnt go to ANYONE else & Ive worked for one of the largest ophthalmic manufacturers in the nation for many years.
