I agreed with others said about this company. They lied and are not ethical. I had their service for 13 years and decided to cancel the service in Dec. They would not let me go!!! They denied/ignored my written request for the cancellation. I did not realize they did not inactivate my account until the fire truck pulled up in front of my house because we were working on the fire alarm and triggered a false alarm. I did not think they were still monitoring it. I called them and they denied i had sent a written request. I had proof to show them and they still would not cancel my account!!! What kind of company this is? Dont ever use them!!! They are expensive and raise rate every year! I have been a long time loyal customer and this is how i am being treated!

(Monitoring Dept)Horrid place to work. Glad I was able to escape the ball and chain. A good amount of yes-men work here and if hired, youll soon come to realize this. Hiring processes is trash and needs to be a little more rigorous as certain employees they have hired seem to be gassed up on themselves, which in turn leads to a childish environment within the workplace.Also, turnover rate here is high so they try and reel you in with incentives which are pretty much just a gimmick to try and keep you in the door.

This is a horrible unethical company. I was a paying customer for 5 years and when I moved from my residence to a new home, protection one wouldnt let me go. During the rise of Covid-19 epidemic, they demanded over $500 to finish out a multi-year contract. They said I had to reconnect their services wherever I go. Their sales people told me if I move I can go, otherwise I would not have signed with them. The new resident has even connected services with them but they are still chasing me for money.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. Awful experience. I would never recommend them to anyone. In fact I Will go out of my way to make sure people steer clear. They come to your house acting they they are giving you all this “free stuff” and smooth talk their way into a ridiculous contract. Not to mention the tech installed the camera upside down and the doorbell never works. Go with anyone else anyone. A dog camera and a bell on the front door would be better. If I can save one person from the headache I experienced, the wasted money willBe worth it.

Had service with this company and it was terrible , the panel would go off in the middle of the night for no reason or say there’s no signal . They charge u if someone has to come out to fix a problem caused by there faulty equipment. There’s other companies out there that will monitor your home with better equipment and offer a better service for less. When you try to cancel with them , they say you’re still under contract because of a verbal agreement over the phone. Be careful when giving them the pass code because that’s what they’re using as verbal consent .

I hesitate in giving them 1 star. I WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone. Horrible customer service, and they do not follow through with what they tell you on the phone. Keep very good notes if you do use them. If you do not plan to use them the following year and you miss the deadline for cancelling by 1 day, they will charge for an entire year, then tell you that you cant use the service that you just an entire year for. Was told our company would get a refund for the amount we paid and was not able to use, if landlords went with their service. Now, after landlords went with their service, they know nothing about it...Really?

WHEN I CALLED TO CANCEL THEY SAID I HAD A 5 YEAR CONTRACT, THE SALES REP SAID IT WAS A MONTH TO MONTH. PLEASE HAVE THE REP HIGHLIGHT THE AREA WHERE IT SHOWS HOW LONG THE TERM IS SO YOU DONT GET STUCK WITH A 5 YEAR CONTRACT. WHEN CALLED TO CANCEL. THEY HANG UP, TRANSFERRED TO A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT, GAVE ME A DIFFERENT EMAIL / PHONE NUMBER TO CALL. JUST DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN MAKE SURE THE SALES REP SHOWS YOU WHERE IT SAYS FOR HOW LONG THE CONTRACT IS. READ THEIR REVIEW MOST PEOPLE THAT GAVE THEM 5 START ARE EMPLOYEES AND DONT SAY ANYTHING

Stear clear of Protection 1. We signed up with ASG (who was great), they were bought by Protection 1 (not good), and they were bought by ADT (next level HORRIBLE). They wont let us get out of our contract that renewed another year in October. The only recourse that I have is to warn others to stear clear!!!

Seriously.Since the ADT buyout, these guys are a joke.Literally, I cancelled my service over a service issue. Not worth arguing when a I found a local provider for less than 1/3 the cost.I also cancelled my commercial account...all over an issue with their customer service and 1 account manager acting like complete jerks on the phone.Management never bothered to return my calls either..that shows a disregard for my business.Thanks guys!

Possibly the worst accounting and customer service Ive ever experienced. They call me HOURS after my brothers alarm goes off and tell he theyve never reached him. I call him and he says hes been home all day and the alarm never went off, but Protection1 sent the police and the fire department to his house several hours earlier. This is not a good company at all. When my contract ends, I am gone!

Beware of this company -- they will increase your monthly payments and state that have authority based on a renewal clause in the contract. I did not even sign on with Protection 1 -- they bought out ASG and started regularly increasing the monthly automatic withdraw payments from my checking account.

Are there negative stars? The alarm wont set, the technician cant tell us why, or fix it. On the phone forever, and getting a penalty to move to a different service. This couldnt be any worse.

Worked here for a year. The work culture in the monitoring department is awful. They promote rude uneducated ppl who know how to follow directions. Management sucks, the director of the call center is petty. This is only regarding the monitoring department. High turn over rate

Had one of the thermostats installed a year and a half ago. It quit working properly. Had my house hot late July early august!!! Called company to get replacement since the part was under warranty and was told it would be two weeks before they could get to me...yikes

Protection1, previously ASG, provided home monitoring for me in Dallas, Tx for many years. The monitoring equipment and service were reliable and excellent.In July 2016 I moved to another home in Dallas and tried to start monitoring service at the new home while continuing service at the previous home, pending sale. The alarm permit that I had at the first home would not cover both homes and was not transferable to the new home. I applied for a second permit simultaneously with making a request to Proteciton1 for service at a second site. This was refused by Protection1 during three different calls that I made. Their refusal was based upon my not having an alarm permit number. Because of pets and an elderly family member, I was reluctant to not have the new home monitored for 7-10 days while I waited for the new permit. I called another national firm that agreed to activate the system, monitor the system, and provide cell phone notification to me in the event of a problem. They simply asked that I forward the permit number as soon as possible. This seemed reasonable under the circumstances and continued service has been excellent.When the previous home sold in late September 2016, I called Protection1 to cancel service. I explained why I had been forced to change monitoring companies. Protection1 reviewed their call log and agreed with the sequence of events I recounted. I requested that the cancellation fee of $703 (18 months remaining service contract) be waived under the circumstances. A reduction to $553 was their best and final offer.Beware of this pitfall.Robert Thomas

I would give negative rating for protection one if possible. Theese guys are the worst in sneaky business practices. I got the service disconnected many months ago but they want to pay me since there is a 30 day written notice clause. They knew my home wasnt being serviced but still want to get the money. Run away as fast as possible from this.

This companies customer service is the worst ever. To get disconnected you have to be punished and charged a disconnection fee of $100. I did not switch to this company after they bought ASG and now I am being charged a service fee for the monitoring even though I did not renew my services.

I was with ASG security system everything was good but since protection 1 bought ASG I been having the bad experience with the whole company they are making it hard to cancel the service, it has to be written letter they raised the price plus I can never meet a manager to talk to about my service . So yea lone star

Im posting this review so that potential employees are aware of what it is like to work for their monitoring department. I was hired as a temporary agent (we had NO issues with our temp agency) amongst multiple new temp hires, and the job seemed great at first. They made it seem like there were so many benefits to working for the company, but what they failed to do is fully prepare us for the job.We were given 2 weeks of training to do the most basic functions, however, we were not properly trained on how to handle the utterly disrespectful customers they have, or the nasty and rude police/fire dispatchers we speak with everyday.Some of the customers had a point when being upset due to their systems malfunctioning constantly. If your calls are majorly due to equipment not working properly, then something is wrong with ADTs products and services.Not only this, but this company FAILED to train us on Quality Assurance Standards. They gave us ONE class on just a FEW basic guidelines we needed to follow to be graded well by QA. Well... a couple weeks later they start grading us on things we were NOT AWARE OF. It is unfair to grade us on things we were never trained on.The command team I had (not the supervisors) is very inconsistent. You can overhear them gossiping and even complaining about new hires and their mistakes. Not enough command members to support the load of questions/requests new hires have, and there are supervisors there that can help answer those questions, but you dont really hear from them.
