Cleanliness is so appreciated carts wiped down all workers in masks. We came here to buy some quick groceries. Sarah was our cashier & she was quite rude. My sister & I were with our grandfather. Sarah was ringing up some limes & proceeded to ask our grandfather 3 times how many limes were in the bag & did such with an attitude. Our grandfather does not speak a lot of English & she did not even give him a chance to respond before continuing to ask with a poor attitude. It was obvious how many limes were in the bag & unnecessary for her to speak to us in that manner.

I have always liked the Fareway stores. It reminds me of the way stores used to be when the workers would carry the groceries. I did not buy much today (1/30/2021) because most of the merchandise seemed over-priced. The Fareway in Washington, Iowa always have wonderful deals, so I was disappointed at the prices in Iowa City. The staff was friendly and kind. The store was clean except a few of the isles only had enough room for one cart. Their parking lot was plowed out and clear. Really, my only gripe was the pricing.

I love this store, but masks are not required by all, so I tend to go there less often right now. I hope they increase organic selections throughout the store too. Id love to get all my produce there too, but I prefer organic. the folks are friendly and helpful, prices good, and meat counter awesome!

I have never had a issue with the store itself but this morning I was very taken back by a employees rudeness. She spoke rudely to coworkers as was very unfriendly while we walked out to my car. I completely understand having challenging mornings. If I had been her co-workers I would of definitely spoke up. Otherwise as always it was a great visit

MY FAVORITE MEAT STORE.

I love going here for the produce and the meat counter! It also has small carts for kids, which my son loves. It is a smaller store, so occasionally I cant get what I need here. But overall, I cant think of any other reason I wouldnt recommend this store. They also have amazing customer service. Many of the employees know and greet me and my kids by name. Completely genuine and amazing customer service. Love that they help you out to your car as well. Thanks Fareway!

Found the meat right in the meat section

Fareway is a great place to make a quick stop shopping for everything you need. They have a great meat market and you can get special cuts if you ask. They also have some rotisserie chicken and a few side salads. Decent selection of produce also. Look for their weekly sales as they occasionally have a great deal.

I have been in Iowa City for 2.5 months, and just driven by the Fareway on my way to other grocery stores. Big mistake on my part. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the simple and easy to navigate layout. I found everything I was looking for with ease. When it came time to check out, there were two registers open, so a line was forming. They called for more cashiers, and seemingly out of nowhere, three more showed up, and checked everyone out quickly. I had two bags, and the cashier offered to help me out to my car with them. What a great place to shop, would highly recommend, and I will be shopping here again.

Awesome store. Has tons of food, and the staff is awesome. Fareway has amazing prices as well. This is also my favorite fareway, and fareway is my favorite place to get food. They also have a large varity of meat to choose from. So, if you want food at good prices go to fareway!

Best grocery store Ive ever shopped at! The size is just right, not so small that they dont have everything and not so big that I get lost in there. Great selection of all kinds of things from canned food to an excellent meat counter. They even do propane exchanges. And the staff has got to be the friendliest ever. They take my groceries out and load them in the car for me every time, I dont even have to ask. It doesnt even matter that theyre not open on Sunday, Ill come back a different day to shop because the experience is so good.

The people are on the ball .Must be good management see the same faces in there all the time. The prices Change daily so stopping in 3-4 times a week is well worth it.I dont like wandering large grocery stores after work when Im tired and my feet might be sore.

I came to Iowa to visit my boyfriends dad and the first store I come to, Fareway Grocery, happens to be completely racist. The second we walk up to the register, some boy comes running up to the register as if the lady cashing us out had a panic button. We ended up having a total of 5 bags but the man insisted on helping us out to our car. Us, being in our 20s said it was no trouble and we could do it ourselves but then he argued that it was store policy and that he needed to bring the cart back in. We agreed and walked out to our car noticing an older white couple, in their 90s with two full carts and no one helped them out to their car. We also saw an older white gentleman whom had one prosthetic leg and a boot on the other, and he received no help either. Its funny how the people that seemed to actually need help received nothing, yet the one black guy needed to be followed. Its 2018, and I have never been so disrespected in my life. As we were leaving, I said Merry Christmas to the lady cashing us out and she laughed at me. I would not recommend this store...especially if you are of color.

The store is clean, well kept, prices are competitive, staff is diligent and friendly, even during these precarious pandemic times. Some shelves were empty.

Only bad thing is they arent open Sundays! But they have cheap produce and supposedly good prices on meat (not sure, Im a vegetarian, but my friends tell me so). A lot less selection than bigger stores but good enough and cheap

Employees are helpful and courteous, store is clean. My biggest complaint with most all Fareway Stores including this one is they fail to offer large family meals such as in the frozen section like lasagnas, mac and cheese ect...They seem to cater more towards the Seniors and single people who live on this side of Iowa City. We live just 5 minutes away in a new condominium community but we find ourselves having to shop at Walmart because of the lack of variety Fairway offers two larger families and their prices are a lot higher even for their store-brand items.If youre looking to just stop by and grab something quick for lunch or a gallon of milk on your way home from work its in a great location, but if you want to do actual family grocery shopping I do not recommend this Fairway or any others for that matter.

This is my favorite place to get groceries. Only a local butcher can surpass their meat counter, and a lot of those dont have the same variety! I grew up on their Fastco brands, so its like returning to my childhood everytime I have their cookies, bread or milk.

I shop at this grocery store most often. Their produce lasts the longest, they have the best prices, and if they dont, they price match other grocery stores ads. The employees are always super friendly, especially the cashiers. The checking out process is very fast, and if lines start to build, they immediately call for additional cashiers and baggers. The people who bag your groceries will take your groceries out to your vehicle, no matter the weather. I would like to see more vegetarian food (e.g. tempeh), as well as additional gluten free and dairy free options that are priced competitively with more frequent sales on these products. They do have tofu though!
