I had been taking my car to Tom Wood Subaru for 3 years until I received the worst treatment an auto service shop has ever given me. Up until this point, all the repairs done to my car were excellent and I received very courteous and conscientious service(Kyle Hendricks). There was once an isolated incident where they lied about my headlight being out when I dropped my car off for an oil change, but I was willing to overlook this, and continued using them. For some unknown reason, my representative change from Kyle to another man. When I picked my car up from minor repairs, he quoted me how much the entire car would be to have everything fixed. I informed him that I would do the repairs later because I didnt have the money at that time. Then he launched into the most condescending, disrespectful, and unsolicited tirade of explanations that seemed to go on for 15 minutes. He berated me, bullied me, and tried his hardest to intimate me into the repairs. When I wouldnt acquiesce, he acted like a child, and gave me back my car, which was covered in a mound of snow, and told me to leave. This happened over a year ago, but its something that I still think about, because Im remain so shocked by the treatment I received. Although the dealership might know a lot about Subarus, it still has a lot to learn about treating people in a professional manner.

Love the car. Feel like I got taken advantage of a little bit. Spoke with one salesman a week prior about coming up to check out the car, he got me preapproved beforehand. Found out he was actually gonna be out of town so he passed me off to another salesman who was gonna talk to me avout pricing and looking at the car. That salesman passed me off to another salesman the day I showed up, and this one was under the impression that the initial salesman and I had already worked out a deal, only to find out I hadnt even seen the car in person yet. Id asked about pricing and my interest rate several times throughout this process and got no answer up until the very end.Normally, Id have taken my time and shopped around more, but Id already made a pretty long drive to get there and needed a replacement car by Monday. All that only to find out at the last second while signing the paperwork that my APR was over 15%, which I expected with my lack of credit history. But I also got an almost $8k fee to even get the loan, which nobody even talked about, I only saw it at the last minute because I actually read the contract.I like the car a lot, but ended up signing into a contract at almost double what the price should have been. Kudos to the shady car salesman for not communicating how badly they were about to screw me. Nice car, but wouldnt recommend shopping here.

They have good communication everything is done in a timely matter whether your buying a car or receiving maintenance work you will be satisfied they are the real definition of team work I highly recommend .

Wonderful experience buying our first Subaru! Ken, our sales rep, was awesome! He was extremely knowledgeable and found us exactly what we wanted at a great price. Ray, our service technician, was excellent! He made sure our new (to us) car was in perfect condition. Everyone in the dealership was friendly and helpful. Chad, in the finance department, was great! He did everything possible to get us a great deal and make the process quick and easy. Will definitely be doing business with Tom Wood Subaru again in the future!

I had exceptional service on my vehicles extended warranty repairs. Brandon gave me all the information I needed to help me develop a maintenance schedule. Everyone at the service desks were helpful and quick to solve problems. I thoughtlessly left my wallet in the rental vehicle from Sixt next door. Onephone call handled the whole mix-up. Your service dept swiftly took care of the recovery. I live out of town and couldnt directly resolve it. I really appreciate the sincere thoughtfulness.

I’m from Wisconsin and was looking for a 2021 WRX Limited and there wasn’t one anywhere around. After searching far and wide I found one at Tom Wood (in shipment) and put in an inquiry. From the start (Mid-August), the salesman Peyton gave me all the info I needed without any gimmicks or pressure. He even gave me space during the weeks of my wedding and honeymoon, when they actually received shipment of the car. Upon my return to the country, we resumed the sales process and when I made a final decision he made the purchasing process easy, especially from so far away. He went the extra mile to provide great customer service.I rode 5.5 hours to pick the car up and the great service didn’t stop there. Upon arrival, I was impressed how friendly everyone was and that he took the time to get to know me a little bit and kept everything easy and low-pressure. Without a doubt the best car-buying experience I’ve ever had.The WRX is amazing, as is Subaru as a brand. I only wish Tom Wood Subaru was closer to me, it completely blew my local dealer away. My wife purchased a new Forester from them earlier this year and the experience didn’t compare. If you’re around that area, I would 100% recommend.

The service department here is excellent. I worked with Ryan and he kept me up to speed on what was going on and was honest about what needed to be done. They were able to put a new transmission in my Forester within 3 days of dropping off at the shop. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough for your Subaru service needs.

After a local dealer attempted to overcharge for a few simple parts I called up Tom Wood for an inquiry. I was helped by Tyrone (Parts) who went above and beyond all expectations I had. He even verified parts against my vin and told me I may want some extra bolts as well. Since I am not local he also said I should check out their online parts catalog as all my shipping and tracking would be updated more there. Thank you Tyrone for saving me over 150$ compared to a competing dealer. I will from now on push anyone looking for parts locally to order through you all. Exceptional experience working with Tom Wood Subaru. Personable, friendly, and professional staff ready to assist you with buying a new Subaru. Tony Birsfield, my Sale & Leasing Consultant is extremely knowledgeable about the entire line of Subaru products and was happy to let me test drive various products with different engine sizes so I could comfortably make my choice. No pressure but a lot of information on each of the different models really helped to make the right choice. The vehicle I chose was scheduled for delivery to the dealership within the next week. Upon its arrival, Tony called to schedule a delivery appointment. The financing portion of the transaction was the best I’ve ever experienced. Max, the finance specialist encouraged me to bring in my lease vehicle for appraisal (I was intending on just turning it in) but they were able to give me a higher trade in value which we applied to the financing and saved me close to $100 a month. Great service with a focus on helping the customer. I’ve owned and leased 17 vehicles over my driving life and by far this was the best experience I’ve ever had. Thanks to Tom Wood Subaru! Service representative was friendly. He said the 2 recalls would take 1.5 to 2 hours. I went to the visitors lounge to wait. At the 2.5 hour point I went in search of an update. I was told my SR went home sick and they guessed I had not been passed to someone else. They apologized. Things got to moving after that. Just shy of 3 hours I was able to leave.

Lou was fantastic!! He went above and beyond to make sure we were getting the vehicle we wanted, especially since we live three hours away in Illinois. He even took a video of the inside and outside of the car and highlighted all the vehicle had to offer and sent that to us before we decided to drive over to Indiana. Once we arrived, Lou was so personable and accommodating and walked us through everything thoroughly and efficiently. Finally he had the vehicle looking beautiful well we hopped in and drove away! I purchased a 2016 Subaru outback from Tom Wood Subaru in January. Dan Ryan made the process hassle free. The vehicle had high mileage and was sold AS IS - I understood the terms.The vehicle was great through my first Indy winter and I was confident that I made a good choice with Tom Wood Subaru.When I had routine maintenance in April the customer service experience left much to be desired.Last week during the heat wave the radiator hose popped off, releasing steam and coolant.I contacted the service department to see if my vehicle could be towed there for service. A service rep named Brandon told they were swamped and it would cost ~$135 for diagnosis but weeks before service could be rendered.I had the vehicle towed to another technician who immediately recognized the problem. The radiator hose was not attached properly. This issue should have been noticed if a proper inspection had been done during regular maintenance at Tom Wood.I spoke with the service manager, shop foreman and the general manager but only received a series of half-baked, dumb-witted excuses.I can not and will not entrust the safety my family to service from these people. Im terribly disappointed but not at surprised.

Stopped in, without appointment, for maintenance (just oil change and tire rotation) and they were very friendly upon arrival. They said it’d be an hour due to how busy they were and a half but they did it in less. When I went to pick it up, the car was (complimentary) washed and ready to go. The employee was very good at explaining details about the car check up and about upcoming appointments. Great experience and waiting room!

Always great service here. Went in recently for a recall appointment which required overnight service. It was very easy to secure a courtesy rental car next door. The advisor assisted with filing a claim on a warranty for tire damage (saving me $200). Only downside of the experience was the proposed cost of a brake fluid exchange, which was quoted around $190 (no thanks, pretty sure that can be done for ~$70 at Midas).

I dealt with a salesman named Dan Ryan who was cheap, fast, and good which are the three hardest requirements to meet. He put me in the vehicle of my dreams in less than an hour and we got the car transferred in about three days. I’m still waiting on one piece of paperwork, but other than that I would recommend Tom Wood Subaru and especially Dan Ryan as a salesman to anyone looking for a new or used car.

I have had my Subaru Outback since Feb. 2014 and I love it. And so far each time i have gone to Tom Wood for something I have appreciated the explanations.....warnings on status of car parts.....and the price has been reasonable. The workers are always professional. And this past time Cody was very prompt, helpful and I very much appreciated his efforts on my behalf. It was a very very busy day with many customers before me and I was told there might be a two hour wait....but i am sure it was not at all that long! Plus the waiting area was confortable and had wifi. I was thrilled! Thanks.

Excellent service, no pressure from sales or finance. Honestly the best experience Ive ever had with a finance manager.I changed my appointment time, and they were able to accommodate. I hadnt had much to eat before coming into the store and asked where the vending machine was - I was escorted to the only machine in the place, in the mechanics breakroom, to get something - no hesitation. Thats an employee-only space, and they were perfectly willing to bend that rule to make me comfortable. My wife had to leave for an appointment, so we asked to see the finance manager to complete our transaction quicker if possible - they were able to accommodate us.A great car-shopping experience all the way around.

I scheduled my 60,000 mile service and a couple other possible repairs so all would be completed prior to my husbands surgery on Wednesday. We dropped off my Forrester late on Monday the day before my actual morning appointment. Upon arrival, Todd VonBlon explained that they would not be able to complete the work as scheduled on Tuesday. Though disappointed, I completely understood. (One of the techs had lost his father and another had called in sick, etc.) Due to the scarcity of vehicles, I wasnt given a loaner vehicle, and I understood that too. It turned out that my Forrester was finished on Friday afternoon. Todd and I communicated frequently so I would know if/when I needed to arrange a ride from Cicero to 96th Street to pick up my vehicle since my post-surgery husband couldnt drive. Over a several day period, I gained trust in Todd and when I picked up my car on Friday afternoon, the total cost was exactly as estimated. When I service my Subaru again, I will ask that Todd be my Service Consultant. The only reason I did not give my service a 5-Star rating was due to the length of time I was without my vehicle. I certainly feel confident that my Tech, Alex Howard, did a great job servicing my Forrester.

First, let me say that I purchased my Outback from Tom Wood and have allowed them to perform all my service for the last 3.5 years. I cannot recall any issues or problems that would compel me to take the time to write a review.Over a month ago I saw a notice that a software update was recommended so soon after I went online to schedule a service appointment. The soonest openings were a good 3-4 weeks out, so I scheduled a time. On the day of my appointment, I was there promptly at 7:30, along with many other customers. The service advisor promptly checked me in and I reminded him I was there for the update, but mentioned my oil was close to needing changed. He suggested the I get my past due 30K service, which included and oil change. Since I had come with the plans of waiting, I asked about how long it would take and was told a minimum of 3-4 hours. He said there was a restaurant down the street if I wanted breakfast, but I decided to get a ride home. Before I left (about 8:30) I asked the rep if he would call me later when my car was done and he said he would.Here’s where my dissatisfaction comes in; About 5pm I still had not received a call, so I called and asked for my advisor. I got his voicemail and left a polite message. About a half hour later, I had not heard back so I called again and asked for a live person. I admit I was frustrated and the gentleman I spoke with even asked me to calm down, because not once in my interaction with my rep was It ever suggested that my car would not be done the same day. I explained that I was well aware there’s a shortage of workers out there. I even heard other service reps mention to their customers while I was getting checked in that “we probably won’t get your car done today” and “we are backed up from yesterday”. My reasoning that this didn’t apply to me was that I had made an appointment and my service rep upsold me on the 30k service. My cars service had not even been started, so it was left for the night.So the following morning I waited till 8am to call about my car again. I figure this might get most of the morning rush done. I called and asked for my rep, but again got his voicemail. I again waited about 30 minutes, no reply and called again. At this point, all I wanted was to make sure my car was done by noon so I could get to an important appointment. Thankfully, it was completed with 10 minutes to spare.So my advice to Tom Wood is very simple: communicate! If my rep would have clearly said to me that it would be best to plan on the next day because you were very understaffed in the service department, I may not have liked it but I would have understood. Just about every business is experiencing this right now. Follow through! If you tell a customer you’ll call them with an update then call them. If you have a concerned customer who leaves you a voicemail, return that call promptly. It also wouldn’t hurt to apologize every once in a while. I’m sorry your car is not ready. I’m sorry I didn’t communicate clearly. I’m sorry I didn’t return your call promptly. Finally, recognize that when a customer makes a reservation weeks out, they expect that to be honored as a high priority. Yes, you also offer “walk in service” and there are always those “emergencies”, but a person who plans ahead shouldn’t be penalized. Recently we went to a favorite local restaurant for a birthday. It was a busy Saturday night and we waited and waited for our food. Our inattentive waiter didn’t help things much, but the real frustration was that we were sat near the front and there was a steady line of people picking up call in orders. The owner came out and admitted that they were short handed and they prioritize the will calls. But he apologized and sent a few appetizers to the table. We had a good meal, we forgave them, but have no plans of visiting them again on weekends at this time. Most people are very understanding if they know what is going on. Communication, under promise and over deliver!

Went in for an oil change. Got the usual tire rotation & change of cabin air filter. All of that went well. However, the reason youre getting 5 stars is your service guy, Cody. I recently purchased a new iPhone, and could not figure out how to synch it with my car. Not only did Cody do it for me, he showed me how to do it myself. Above & beyond. My service advisor, Brandon, explained the entire process well so that I knew what to expect. I only had a recall repair and a diagnostic done, but they treated me great. We called to get a price for a full-synthetic oil change. When the car was finished, Cody the service writer charged us a higher price. I complained and his response was “that is a problem we have had with that receptionist. We’re talked to her, but she is still quoting the old price.”He offered a $25 discount on our next service, but why would we ever do business with a company that cheated us. He cost Tom Wood a customer. We will take our business to another Suburu dealership.

After Tom Wood Subaru had my car for two weeks, I had to call the service department to check on the car’s repair status. The person in the service department who answered wasn’t sure about the car’s status. I was told if I didn’t hear from anybody in three hours I was to call back. I did not because it seemed to me that they should call me. One week after that they called to let me know the car was done. The link the service department sent to me to get updates on the car’s repair status never worked after having tried it three different times. The good news is I had a Tom Wood courtesy vehicle for the full three weeks my car was in the shop. So far, the work to have the rear bearings replaced and a partial engine rebuild seems to be worth the significant repair bill.

Today I purchased a 2021 Subaru Forester and had the BEST experience at Tom Wood Subaru! I made an appointment with Gregory and from start to finish he was phenomenal!! He made buying a new car so easy and the process was SO much faster than any other dealership! Not only that, but he took the time to make sure I understood all the ins and outs (and loads of buttons) on my new car. He made me feel valued and so safe! I would highly recommend this dealer. They are worth the 120-mile trip from north of Fort Wayne. And they have ensured we will take the car to them for servicing. When other Subarus are purchased, we will go to Tom Wood Subaru.

If you get Ken Voogt as your salesperson don’t waste your time. He responded to me quick at first, but once I asked him if they deliver long distance he just said that it “not worth the hassle with the current marketplace conditions”. I guess saying that made him stop replying to my emails. I sent multiple emails to him asking if the vehicle is still available and that I’ll come down to the dealership to test drive. I live in Wisconsin too, so wanted to make sure the car is still available and not waste my time. Been about a week now and haven’t gotten a single reply back yet.

Express service for an oil change/ 6k maintenance is great at Tom Wood Subaru. I like that you do t have to make an appointment and can just drop over when it’s convenient. There were 2 cars ahead of me, but Will & Fredo got me right in & out within :45 minutes! And a free car wash to finish the service visit! Great job!

Had a great experience purchasing a new Outback at Tom Wood...especially during this time when finding a new vehicle that meets your needs is difficult with all the parts and chip shortages in the industry. Dan Ryan was our salesperson. We went to look for a vehicle assuming we would likely have to order one and have an indefinite wait for it to arrive. They had one vehicle on the lot that came somewhat close to what we were looking for but not a color we liked and missing some key accessories we were looking for. Our salesperson Dan got busy looking for something closer to what we were looking for and was able to upgrade a vehicle already in production to include everything we wanted and the color we wanted if we were willing to wait until June when it was scheduled for delivery. This was acceptable to us. About a week later Dan notified us that the delivery of our car had been moved to May. Less than 3 weeks after making our visit, we were able to drive home our new car with everything on it we wanted. Dan spent quite a bit of time the day we picked up our car going over and educating us on all of the technology advances on this car and that is a lot. To this point in time, I dont think we could have had a better experience buying a new vehicle.

We arrived at 11:00 for our service and finished at nearly 1:30. I had a similar service at a national brand service center where I was 10 minutes and never stepped out of my car. While this is a complementary service it was still paid for when we bought our car. It takes way too long and you cannot schedule it and leave your car. It is simply not worth the complimentary price. We watched as mechanics often stood around for several minutes chatting and not working. Tom Wood needs to improve their timeliness.

Prompt service and a thorough explanation of everything that needed to be done to the vehicle as well as cost for 60K service for 2014 Outback. Todd even offered a loaner vehicle since the service ran over a day. I know most hate to pay for dealer rates, but sometimes you do get what you pay for. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

I purchased a hood air deflectors and all 4 door I window deflectors + installation at another “NonWood” dealership in Florida. Two days later, while driving at interstate speeds headed to Indiana, my hood deflector partially became loose causing a true driving distraction. Upon arrival in Indiana I drove straight to Tom Wood Subaru. Service manager examined the 5 new deflectors installed in Florida and stated parts were All improperly installed and missing many clips, leaving clips screwed exposed. Tom Wood immediately ordered new parts and properly installed all new deflectors within 3 days (time to get in parts). Fantastic service. All my service will be done by Tom Wood in the future. Sorry Florida dealer.#happy Snowbird

I will say the customer service is good. Everyone is friendly and nice! However, the service overall has been horrible. The first time I went to get my car serviced, my car was returned to me with oil in my backseat. When I cleaned off the oil, it left a stain. I called to speak with someone about this and it was never resolved. I went back hoping it would be different, it wasnt. I found out there is an additional oil leak that was not noticed during my first visit. I inquired why it was missed since I was informed the engine was taken out. I was informed that my engine wasnt taken out so there was nothing they could do. Not only will I have to spend more money to get it fixed, I was lied too about the service my car recieved. Im incredibly frustrated by being misinformed and the poor care of my car.
