I gave this place a five star rating a few years ago, but I had a weird experience an evening last week that I didnt like. As I was LEAVING, the guy at the front (who was chin strapping his mask) was oddly confrontational with me in terms of why I was wearing a mask (are you sick? Why are you wearing a mask?). He also asked me what my age was and seemed to be making fun of the way that I talk. Im not sure if he was trying to flirt or if he was just being rude. He did at least try to help me find what I was looking for because I was about to leave without buying but I had a weird feeling about the whole thing so I just left as soon as I could.

Smelled awful inside. It was not crowded and very quiet. Had a good fabric selection, but Im worried the fabric will smell like whatever was in the store (it was fine). The guy at checkout was chatting endlessly with a customer while the line built up. Then he was very rude to the person in front of me. I showed a coupon on my phone, and he grabbed it from me and started messing with it to change the brightness without my permission. I did not enjoy my time at all and will drive farther to go to a different location next time.

If you are a frequent visitor, you can have their catalogue mailed to you and save with their coupons. The store is in a big center, and is very popular with homemakers especially. You will definitely find something to decorate your home.

Great service since Im starting and learning to use a sewing machine they help me gather all tools and cashier was really nice and helpful. He help me and was patience to explain how to use a coupon since Im really bad at tech or apps.

I received ABOVE & BEYOND customer service today from Maryann & John! Thank you!! They were both fast with packaging my 3 separate buy-online/pick up in-store orders & John assisted me with using my coupons, and patiently adjusted one of my orders when the color in store was not as pictured online. This store has an extensive & unique fabric selection even though it is a smaller building compared to the other locations.

I can almost always find exactly what Im looking for. Today it was pumpkin material. But dont go without the app- the coupons always add up!

I went to Jo-Anns fabric on Weslayan about 15 mins after they opened. I walked in and asked for burlap. The employee said, They moved it to the back! She didnt even point to which direction in the back!!! I went to the back of the store to look for it on my own! I finally found it and walked to the fabric counter to ask a question about the dementions. I put the bolt on the counter and an employee from that Department walked up then said, Is that burlap? I said yes, she said I cant touch it, Im allergic! Youll have to come back when the other girl gets in! That is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! If you are unable to fully do your job, you should not be working by yourself! The Management should do a better scheduling staff!

Outstanding customer service from Vivian and Kim this evening. Very friendly, helpful and professional. Even though we came in close to closing they both offered courteous assistance and we did not feel rushed. 10 ⭐s

The employees were not very helpful. Maybe everyone else that comes in is frequent Flyer, but this was my first time. I went to check out with my discount fabric that was measured but no ticket. The check out person gave me an attitude. I told them and the person cutting the fabric that it was my first time. Neither cared and acted like I should know what to do. They just sat there until I asked where do I go or what do I need to check out. Maybe it was the end of the day and they were just ready to go. Also the check out guy didn’t want to give me my receipt so I just left without it. Personally based on this experience, I rather buy online or visit another location.

The employees are super nice, extremely helpful and well mannered... Prices are a bit high on somethings thats why I rated 4 ⭐s other than that great job ladies!!!

I enjoy shopping at the Katy location more than the Wesleyan location. Its a much larger store, better selection, and more staff to assist.

Not much in the way of customer service. Quieter than a library. Yards of fleece and flannel, but very little selection in cotton licensed sports teams.

Very helpful and professional staff even at the final operating hour. They answered all of my questions and helped me get the proper fabric. As a person of color, it was very refreshing to see employees who looked like me. It made me feel even more welcome and comfortable shopping and I thank management for that. Great sales and selection, as always. Thank you.

Well let me start saying, I come here a lot. I love my crafts but I have never came this location. I’m not sure if Maryann had a bad day, but she was frustrated with me when I was just asking questions about coupons. I spent $60 and usually there’s a nice coupon for me to use first the first One j showed she was so quick to be like “you can’t use that” ok weird that’s fine there were more so I showed her my app she rudely said I can’t use them after I asked her why she talked to me as if I was a toddler instead of just explaining it nicely like I was talking to her I said no need to be rude and continued to be annoyed at me. Hey I just like to save a little coin, sorry if it’s so hard to ask for. First time none of my coupons were used. I hope her day gets better. Won’t come here again that’s for sure

Wish I could give zero stars. There’s rarely ever anyone to help and God forbid you even ask for help from these people. The chubby black guy at the cutting counter is rude and I pray he heals from whatever gives him such a terrible attitude

We asked 3 people for help on our visit. All three didnt made us feel comfortable. We felt like we shouldnt be asking questions and just buy what we need and get out of their way. Even the store manager looked annoyed when we asked her for help. Our question was where their outdoor fabrics were in the store and their pricing. Apparently some pricings are well hidden and you should know that.

Some stores keep moving away, but it doesnt matter because people who appreciate them will follow. This is one of them. Ideal place for homemakers who sew. Store has a great selection of fabrics, plus a lot of items to decorate your home. You will be glad to stop and shop!

Great material variety and good prices

I love that joanns is an accessible fabric store in Houston, because there are not many. But I wish they would sell more modern, popular, wearable designer fabrics..whoever buys fabric for joanns should be freplaced with someone that is more fashion forward. The selection has been horrible, and I have visited mostly all of the stores in the surrounding areas of Houston .

Extremely rude cashiers and apathetic managers who try to patronize their customers and change up the store policies at whim when they don’t want to do their job.

Veina or Reina was just wonderful this morning. She was engaging with all of the customers and quite knowledgeable about store policies. She made all of the customers in line smile this morning.However the other associates at this location didn’t even acknowledge me. Even when I went to get service in their areas they just looked at me like they were expecting me to say something. These ladies can sure use a lesson on customer service.

Great service, good prices, good selection. The store was very organized for the nature of the business. Im a novice to crafts but I was able to find what I needed. Id go back.

Rude customer service from the older woman in the back, perhaps it was a dumb question but we just had interacted with her 3 min before and she seemed normal. Was also a bit rude to a man who also asked a question ,maybe dumb question in her eyes, before us. Nobody was rude we didnt do anything besides ask. Maybe some of the other employees are nicer but they avert their eyes when someone approaches the counter so it is hard to say. Maybe go to another fabric store.

Worst location. They get really frustrated and have absolutely no patience when you ask them a simple question about stock availability. The store was empty and I was the only customer in need of assistance. I asked if they had a certain different color of an item i was holding and after them misunderstanding that i wanted the exact same color of what i was holding, they lashed out on me and blamed me for them scanning and searching for the wrong item. They get confused and frustrated at you when they misunderstand but when you ask questions and try to clarify, they get even more annoyed. Shannah and Celia assisted me today. They also obviously do not care about sanitation during the pandemic. At the register, the cashier was touching her phone during my transaction.

Found what we needed pretty quickly. Checkout was backed up.

Warning! JoAnns refuses to ban customers open carrying weapons in their stores. We cant identify who is a mass shooter until its too late with people walking around with ARs. As a military family we support concealed carry not open carry. Walmart changed their policy and they carry fabric so Ill shop there until JoAnns changes their policy.

I ordered needles online bit went inside to pick them up due to not being able to find felt squares on line. I kept getting an out if stock message. Every color I wanted was there in the store.

Always can get in and out quickly, even when getting a lot of fabric cut.

I ordered online for a store pick up here. I was emailed saying the fabric was ready on a Monday.... called the store over 20 times 2 days in a row for curbside with no one ever answering the phone, no ability to leave a message, the store was then temporarily closed the following day then I received an email on Friday reminding me I had a fabric pick up which I just laughed at, then a few hours later I received another email saying my order was cancelled because the item was no longer in stock. I understand its crazy abnormal times but in order to pick up curbside the phone has to be answered.

Small store. In my opinion, they need to install new LED lightnings since the store was a bit dark. All the shelves are close together and you can grab whatever you need quickly without spending too much time.

The staff was very rude. Cashiers and staff were coughing and not covering their mouths. And there are a lot of elderly people who are much more vulnerable to the virus. The staff there needs to be educated on the proper infection control procedures.

I was greeted by a friendly face and i found what i came for and the price agreed with my budget. Plus i had a coupon in my email to reduce my total. I highly recommend this store

They receive the fabric early every Wednesday, but they dont put them out until they want and the cotton fabric area emty. Some employees are talking and other on the phone. They are around 12. Some employee are not kind when you ask them for something.I when to the store today (08/20/20) they had a lot of Astro fabric. When i get in i saw an american man about to pay two full roll of Astro fabric, two diferent one. They did not limit the fabric for him because he is an american, but all the time i go there including today they only sell 3 yards to me. If they want to sell 3 yards it is fine but should be applied for all people. This is call thiscrimination and this is ilegal. They limitted the fabric to me because i am hispanic. A black woman sell the two roll of fabric to the man and limitted The fabric to me because i am hispanic, later dont speak about rac.ism.

Very low selection

There are no more bookstores. Bookstores had a great smell and you could browse for an hour and then spend too much money because you just couldnt decide. So, instead of bookstores, you can now experience the strangely alluring draw of JoAnn Fabrics (and Crafts)... somehow more fascinating than Michaels. Definitely better than Hobby Lobby. Go. Look at stuff. Last time we went, we spent $200. Seriously. Its true. Let yourself be beguiled.

A bit smaller than other JoAnns Ive been to but still has plenty of everything! Good selection of fabrics and notions. Checking out was fast, even though they were busy, thanks to having enough checkers.

The store is small, but they manage to fill it with a lot of good products at good prices. Plenty of helpful friendly employees too. I gave 4 stars because I would have liked it to be larger with even MORE great products at great prices.

It was a great experience! Store was well organized and well kept. The yarn sale was fantastic but there was not enough selection. That was disappointing but I spent $50 for what Im sure would have been well above $100 at Michaels even with their 40%off coupon. I would have given 5 stars if the selection had been larger.UPDATE 9/14/19 I went to this Joanns about a week or so ago and am sorry to say the selection of yarn is even less than before. The store still has great friendly service but if they have almost no yarn - only one aisle - then what is the point of going there. There is a Micheals right across the street so maybe that is why they seem to be going out of the yarn business. Still...very said to see this happen. I have taken a star away for that reason.

Joanns has the sweetest lady working there that helped me check out. I cant remember her name but she is tiny and foreign (maybe from India if that helps). Anyway she took her time and helped me with the coupons. I appreciate her kindness soooo much.

I bought here very expensive silk to color my Easter egg and they said is silk but is not because i spend money on real silk and i couldnt get nothing on my egg i could do only with one peace other one wasnt silk!!!Very unhappy customer

Nice little store with pretty good selection for size of store.

I love JOANN’s so much. Right before work I needed to return some things, so I googled to see if a JOANN’s was close to my job. When I got there it was extremely busy. It is a very small, crowded store. One of my biggest problems was that the store smelled. At my regular store it smells like fabric, but this location I don’t know how to describe it but it was wretched. It was so horrible that I didn’t want to linger around at all. When I made it to the register to return my items their system was EXTREMELY slow. I was there for 15-20 minutes trying to return my items back onto my card. Finally the cashier gave up and gave me cash back, which I was a little irritated with because I didn’t want that. I will probably never go to this location again unless it’s an absolute emergency.

This place is in a not so nice neighborhood and the store itself looks like a dark creepy warehouse. The cashier was definitely not happy to be there. Will not go back again unless they are the only store that has the material I need.

Honestly this is my first time doing into the store and I was surprised how helpful everyone was, granted and I dont care but no one really talked and it was creepy quiet. Apart from that everyone in the store is extremely amazing on helping me out.

My tailor(Marcellos near Richmond and 610) told me about this place. I had to fix some buttons on one of my wife’s winter coats and the staff at this Joann’s was very helpful. I found the exact buttons I was looking for and my tailor was able to stitch the coat in a timely manner.

Called for 20 mins never picked up the phone.

I ordered online 24 hours ago for store pick up I have not received an email stating that my order is ready. Came to the store to check the status of it and they told me that is would be ready until tomorrow. I only ordered 2 yards of fabric and it is taking them 2 day to fill it. They are only letting 5 people at a time.

The staff here is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They helped me through my first few visits to a fabric store lol and gave my husband advice on materials and tools to buy as Im starting out. They also are really good about finding all the applicable coupons in the app to get customers the biggest discount!

I love this store, hate the location. Ghetto feeling. Unorganized. Sales people dont know where stuff is OR even worse... WHAT stuff is. That alone is exhausting. There are only so many words to describe muslin.....a very basic but essential part of Patten Drafting. Also its very small. They dont have everything.

Service not a strong suit.

The store looked dark and felt gloomy even before i step inside. When the door opened, the air felt very thick with the smell of what im guessing is hundreds of burned insence trapped in a poorly ventilated building. I tried to endure it but it was too much for me.

The girl restocking fabric couldnt tell me where they had the snoopy fabric. She gave me a funny look.

People are very helpful and their selection is great.

Maryann was very rude. When i was next up to the fabric counter, she ignored me for a bit then looked up with an attitude. She yanked the fabrics from me and called me this one when talking to her coworker. The young black girl and shannon were both very kind and professional.

Never come here without a coupon. Get the 20% off coupons at least and make sure the items are on sale too. They have most of your fabric needs but you will always pay the price even with sales and coupons. If you forget a coupon though you’re out of luck. The customer service is awful so don’t expect any help.
