Weve just dropped our only vehicle to Texon Motors, and Clay. Our initial experience was outstanding and a first. Texon motor center is hands down the best auto shop in Houston TX. I bought a lemon of a truck and the motor blew on me within 6 months later anyway I found Texon motor center and CLAY the main mechanic there had it rebuilt and it runs like new. Texon rebuilt the engine on a vintage military jeep I restored. The guys did a phenomenal job as you can see in the pictures-it is pretty to look at and runs beautifully. In spite of the fact that it isnt an engine they work with everyday, they didnt hesitate to take it on and work with me to source military parts, when needed. We literally dropped it in, hooked it up, and were running without missing a beat. Cost was very reasonable and the work was done on-time. I would use Texon again on my next project.

My first experience with Tex On was in 2019 with a new engine installation. I remembering being so anxious about getting the car back but Clay was so great about wanting to return the car to me as if it was brand new. Worth the wait for sure! Just recently I brought it back in for struts, suspensions, and to get rid of a horrible sound, and they worked diligently each time to get my car back to running smooth. Even drove with me, so I could show them what sound I was hearing and James knew immediately there was a problem. Each time I bring my car in they greet me with so much respect and as a young woman, it’s great feeling that you are receiving great care for your car and not being dismissed or taken advantage of, happens far too often. This is the second vehicle ive had rebuilt at Texon, still driving the first one and at 70,000 miles. The guys have given me nothing but great service. With the cost of new vehicles now days, it just makes sense to update your current vehicle, an enjoy riding in your classic!

I had my engine rebuilt in a 2007 yukon 5.3 engineand picked it up on 7-19-21. I liked the price and warranty.So far good with the performance of the engine.Mr clay was upfront with prices and overall good customer service. I needed some additional parts after the engine was broken down. Mr clay called before any work was down and he explained the reason for the new parts. There were no surprises with cost of the engine being rebuilt, which I like.I would recommend this shop.......the reason I chose them is because my cousin had a rebuilt engine put in his 96 chevy about 3yrs ago and its still running strong.Ed

Contacted Mr. Clay concerning my 2001 Ford F-150, and explained what was going on with it, and what I was looking to have done. He provided a date in which to drop it off on and also provided towing service, when it proved to be non drivable. Brought my truck in for v8 5.3l engine swap, Clay was the guy I dealt with. Nice,courteous and knowledgeable,..he let me know what to expect from the beginning. Got the entire engine replaced and other things such as radiator, motor mounts etc…. I can’t and won’t give a final review because the vehicle has been stalling from the first day that I received from Texon until today May 7, 2021… I’ve ordered catalytic converters to see if that’s contributing to this stalling and if it checks out then I can finalize my review… I’ve taken it back to Texon Motors because the engine turned but wouldn’t crank up until after 30 minutes or so when I went shopping at Sam’s the day after I first received it back from Texon…. It has stalled several more times which I’ve reported to Texon as much as I can…. Texon said they ran it through a diagnosis but couldn’t find the problem(s)….,

The service was excellent and I was happy with the time it took for them to complete the job. They installed a remanufactured engine in my vehicle about 3 years ago and it has not skipped a beat since, it still rides and runs like new. It really surpassed my expectations.

The Rating of NO STARS is unavailable!And before using this place based on the A+ BBB rating (like me) or these cherry picked 5 Star Google ratings - do what I failed to do...view the 15 very real complaints posted to BBB website, and pull up the yelp! reviews....then decide whether you want to chance dealing with these car destroying crooks!The most compressed account I can give is as follows:My vehicles engine began to break down so I opted to repair versus replace due to the payoff of the vehicle being so close to completion.I found Texon Motor Center online and trusted them to fix my car based solely on their A+ BBB rating and (in hindsight) doctored reviews.The repair was never to my satisfaction even though I gave Clay the full authority to do WHATEVER was necessary- with only one request...let me know the cost asap so I could keep a solid record of how much was spent and why... basically a blank check.Tally $4600 (not for used engine...just to rebuild existing)What I received for my generosity was a vehicle returned to me not only barely running properly, but they also broke parts and rigged them back in place, left off bolts, put others in the wrong places and topped it off with a blinking check engine light. I had to replace the Harmonic Balancer ($180) less than 90 days after supposedly getting my entire engine rebuilt. The damage was most likely already done as a direct result. A little over 18k mi. later the engine bearings, likely damaged by Harmonic Balancer issue, failed. They [Texon] of course required me to fund and arrange transport ($200) of my vehicle back to their facility for warranty service-over 35 miles from where it broke down! The prorated warranty forced me to pay half the repair cost of this visit - roughly an additional $800. A point to ponder...The initial rebuild only took 8 days...this warranty repair took SIXTY (60) 2 solid months!!Tally $5780I was fed up with how long I had gone without my vehicle (that still had FULL COVERAGE INS. premiums AND a note being paid). I came to pick up the car after being told it was ready only to get LESS THAN A MILE away before it began shaking, running badly and the check engine light began blinking AGAIN. I called Texon [conveniently closed]JUST MINUTES LATER from a near by gas station and was told to bring it back AGAIN Monday (this happened on a Saturday). An additional week goes by so I called for a status update and kept getting the runaround. So rather than call again I showed up - much to Mr Whortons surprise. He of course ran down a grocery list of excuses...things that were hard to find, had to be machined or shipped in...yaknow the typical mechanic BS. He goes on to say the reason for my cars issues - his diagnosis - was just 2 bad fuel injectors. He then tells me hell putem in FREE if I go buyem. To which I replied Why the hell would I only replace ONLY 2 injectors in a V6 engine with OVER 200k miles?!?!? I requested that he just give me my vehicle because 60 days was plenty of time for him to repair the car in the first place, but he had not. I also bought ($50) and installed 6 (not just 2) new OEM injectors AS WELL AS both right and left ENGINE VARIABLE TIMING SOLENOIDS ($80) and guess what...none of that was the problem.After all this I called Clay at Texon and said I will accept HALF the blame in this fiasco since I made the mistake of choosing Texon...so that being said I feel a 50% refund would be fair for all involved. His reply...Youre trying to extort me. Nevertheless, he refused even a partial refund.Tally $5910$6000 later and I still have a vehicle in need of an engine. I finally got a chance to get the vehicle to an ACTUAL QUALIFIED MECHANIC SHOP for a computer diagnostic. This is WITHOUT informing them of all of the nonsense that occurred with Texon. Two cylinders have no compression...diagnosis-I need to give them $4200 for the engine to be REPLACED (not REBUILT).

Ask for Clay, he will make sure you get everything you need.

Great experience with Texon Motor Center! Had the stock 305 V8 rebuilt in my 1991 Camaro RS. I dropped the car off and Clay explained the process to me and gave me a 3 week timeframe for the repairs. He called me several times to update me on the status and talk about any additional parts I may need. 3 year 36k mile warranty!! I’ve got about 500 miles on it now and it runs like it did when it was new. I’ve called back a few times with questions and Clay has helped me out right away. Great service, Great product. I did not appreciate getting the vehicle back and the black fingerprints inside and out had not been cleaned up or paper mat removed and trashed. I did not appreciate giving my patronage to your shop with no complaints not trying to get over on you in anyway and to be met with someone might have jumped the fence broke into your vehicle and damaged you passenger side door. I would have appreciated someone who Ive done business with to say Heres how I can help resolve this or theres nothing I can do you roll the dice when you bring your vehicle here. Great customer service, always answered the phone and happy to answer any questions. As for the work performed, top notch. I wasnt quite ready to break it in, as in put a lot of miles on it. But hurricane Laura happened and my hometown of Galveston issued a mandatory evacuation. 4 hours NW to Austin, no issues at all. I have a 1969 Chevy Impala that I took to Texon Motors to have the engine rebuilt. I wanted to keep it all original. 327 with mild upgrades. I was allowed to go to the shop and see the process of engine removal and break down, cleaning process and all. I took plenty of pictures and video. Clay and his team of guys are awesome and very professional. The car is back on the road and didnt have any issues with the work. I am very happy and highly recommend Texon Motors. I have pictures and videos to back them up and their awesome work.

Where do I start? Andy Williams, this guy is on point. He knows his stuff and will help where he can. They machined my block, head work, etc. I brought most of my parts from them. One month and a half later, Im putting the engine together and something is wrong. I called Andy, he states bring it in ,we will take care of it. At that time it did not matter who fault it was he just wanted to get it fixed. Thats true service to me. Thanks

Normally dont do reviews but used reviews while doing research on rebuilt motor replacement. Texon Motor Center had best warranty, fair price & great customer service. Replaced motor on my 2001 Chevy Suburban with 283K. Now runs great again with an extended warranty for 100K or 4 years! Texon received a vehicle from Bastrop for engine replacement to give a picture of their reach. Highly recommend them!

My Dad took a 1985 C10 truck engine to have it reconditioned and left with his cleaned long block.We will definitely use these guys in the future.They are professional and true to their word.Great guys!

10/10 DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL! My husband took his motor in for a long block repair (total cost was roughly about $900) and they did a short block, which was causing the truck not to run. We had to pay a different mechanic to diagnose this (an additional $350) and advised us to take it back. We called the shop and after being put on hold multiple times because no one knew what to tell us they finally said if we took it back to them they would see what could be done to fix it. So we had to pull it back out of the truck and take it back. Once we took it they told my husband they would give him a call as to when it would be ready. A week and half went by and after no one called, so we took it upon ourselves to call. When we spoke to one of the employees there he said since it was just a motor its probably on the floor in the back somewhere, we had seen multiple back there when we initially pick up the motor. Finally after like 5 weeks they called and said it was ready for pick up. We got charged another $300 at pick up. Money isnt an issue but we had to spend unnecessary money on something that should of been done the correct way the first time. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND TAKE YOUR BUISNESS ELESWHERE.

This is my 2nd time using Texon Motors. 2 new engines on 2 different trucks. Everything was great the 1st time around and everything is good this time also. 3,000 miles in and running strong. From start to finish Texon were wonderful. I have a 2009 F150 with about 195k miles on it and I was having massive engine issues which ultimately meant I needed a new motor. Having this truck fully paid off, a new motor was my option. I wasn’t looking for payments of a new vehicle. I looked on google for a reputable shop and I came upon Texon. I called and a gentlemen by name of Clay informed me of their process.I had the truck towed in on a Thursday night, and by the following Friday I had a call that my truck was complete. I couldn’t believe that from our first phone call he would complete the engine replacement in 7 days. To say I’m impressed was an understatement. Clay kept me informed every single step of the way, something that no other mechanic/engine builder in the business does.When I picked my truck up, Clay invited myself and my son back into their shop to show me the process from the beginning to the end. I can honestly say this shop in the #1 engine builder in Texas for sure. When you’re sending thousands of dollars with someone you don’t know it’s hard to feel comfortable, but Texon was a different feel. The engine on our 1997 Ford F150 seized two weeks before we were going to drive it to our son who is in the Navy in California. The truck only had 125K miles on it and was in overall great shape so we turned to Texon for help. Not only were they were able to replace the engine at a good price and work with us on a few extra things that we wanted to get done, they were able to complete the repairs within our timeline so we didnt have to postpone our trip. Clay was honest and kept us informed every step of the way. We picked the truck up on a Tuesday and left for California on Thursday morning. We put a lot of faith in Texon that we wouldnt have any problems on our 1800 mile drive and Im happy to say that the 22 year old truck performed beautifully with the new engine. Thanks, Texon!

I heard about Texon motors from coworker who used them for head rebuild. I had a lifter blow up in engine, my cam was scarred up bad, and my motor also had a rear seal main leak, so I decided to let them install a reman motor and I would keep my old motor for a swap project. They offered a 3 year warranty as well. The agent Clay was super friendly and spent time showing me the shop, machines, and explaining the rebuild process.They rebuilt and reused my heads upon request. They reuse externals as most do but returned all parts that were mine. When swapping motors the sensors (cam, knock, oil, temp, etc) are reused as a norm but moving around old parts can cause issues. So after getting vehicle back there was a knock sensor alarm but Clay (sales agent) said bring it in and they fixed it and replaced with 2 new sensors (both!). I later learned they had installed a high flow oil pump because that provided better lubrication and oil flow to bearings so oil psi is 60 instead of 40 but it’s better for new motor. The engine runs smooth.My advice is since you are getting a new engine with new oil and new coolant just go ahead and buy new sensors (cam, oil, temp, knock) for about $200. Buy good ones like OEM or Duralast with warranties. Buy them yourself and Clay will install your parts and give you old ones back as spares.My experience has been great!! Straight and honest communication and support when needed.As a customer in the world of new technology/video I would love to have a video showing my engine being built. Showing the bearings, pistons, cam, etc being installed. Maybe that could be a service rebuilders offer in the future. 🤠

These guys were honest and didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. The engine change in my 2015 Chevy Impala was completely in a professional and timely manner. They answered all of my questions and kept me posted on the progress. I was nervous however, they reassured me my car would live and they delivered above and beyond my expectations. My car runs like it’s brand new again and it was done right the first time. I have a little over 1,100 miles since having the remanufactured 5.3L V8 gas engine installed in my 2009 Suburban in early Dec 2019. Very pleased with the engines power and performance so far. They did a great job and appreciate that they communicated with me throughout the process and allowed me to furnish incidental parts such spark plugs and the valve lifter oil manifold which saved me some money. This is another quality job just like the work they did on the cylinder head for my sons 89 Supra a few years ago. Highly recommend Texon Motor Center if you need engine work done.

This is the second time my mom has used Texon Motors and has been very pleased. She referred a friend of hers to them also and they were very pleased also. Not sure what all Texon does but I do know that they rebuild motors and I would recommend them highly. Staff was very friendly and we have had the vehicle back for about four days. Clay was the gentleman I was dealing with but I’m sure they’re all just as nice to deal with.

It’s been almost a week now since I’ve had my 351M on my 78 pickup rebuilt. Clay, Dean and the rest of the staff did what they told me they were going to do. A few days later than promised but that’s because they went the extra mile. I immediately noticed a few minor details they threw in there for me cosmetically that they didn’t have to do. Upfront and honest was what I was looking for and they gave me that. I waited to get some miles in on it before leaving this review so it could be an honest opinion. Even the mechanics working on my truck were supper nice when I came up there to clean some wires and such up in the engine compartment while the motor was out. The machinist let me look at my block so I could get a look at the date stamp. I know I got on their nerves but it was all smiles. It’s been a little over a year since Texon Motor Center rebuilt the motor on my 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 with the tow package and the 6.0 liter engine. I deliberately held off on writing a review to see how the rebuilt motor would do. So far, my truck has had no problems. It’s actually getting better mileage too. It was averaging 14.5 mpg before Texon rebuilt the motor. Now I’m averaging around 15.7 mpg. I brought my truck to Texon because the oil pressure read zero and the motor started knocking and blowing smoke out the exhaust when started. Clay diagnosed the problem as a loss of oil pressure due to the cam bearings being worn out. Clay gave me a quick tour of the shop where we discussed what parts they would replace and price. I agreed to have the motor rebuilt. I did request to have my engine rebuilt and not swap it out for another. Clay said it wouldn’t be a problem as long as the block was repairable, if not, they would have to swap it out and I would have to pay a core charge since the block was bad. The block turned out to be in good condition and I was able to have the original motor rebuilt. As mentioned before, the truck has been running great without any problems since Texon rebuilt the motor. I would recommend Texon to anyone looking to have their motor rebuilt. I would also like to mention that Clay and his staff were very friendly and professional. They got my truck back on the road which was a lot cheaper than having to buy a new one. Thanks TMC!

Never call to let u know to pickup your parts. You dont inquire about your parts being done theyll sell them.

I was very impressed with the engine building service I got from Texon Motor Center. Clay and the others were always attentive, knowledgeable and clear in their explanations. They promised the engine would be ready within 2 weeks, and it was ready in a weeks time. Car is working well, as I expected. Very good quality service!

Everyone I spoke with at Texon Motors were knowledgable and professional. They were very up front with pricing and what work was going to be done. I usually like to visit a place before I spend that kind of money, but I felt comfortable enough to let them do the work based on all the reviews I read on BBB.

Great people I have been dealing with this company for more than 20 years. Excellent machine shop and engine repair services. They have built both stock and High Performance engines for me and never had a issue with anything. I have raced their engines several years between rebuilds and never lost a engine. If a engine can hold up to the high demands of racing it will certainly handle the streets.

The staff at Texon Motor Center far exceeded my expectations and provided an unbelievable level of customer service and quality work; especially Dean and Clay. In my dealings with them, they were honest, straight forward, communicated well and conducted themselves with integrity. They made me feel like I was a long-time family friend and not just a customer. My past experiences with other mechanics had me nervous about doing a major repair like replacing my engine. Texons extensive knowledge of motors and their customer service put me at ease and reassured me that my truck was in good hands. My truck is once again running great and I have my new friends at Texon Motor Center to thank for that.

I highly recommend this shop. Their repair costs were reasonable, completed in the time frame quoted and friendly people. They are my go-to shop from now on.

Overall was a good experience, they seem to be very honest and take pride in there work. Have had a couple issues but they have had no problem giving it a look over and fixing whatever needed to be done. I have had a knocking noise that comes and goes, so will be taking it In to get looked at.

Great job on changing out my engine. The job was completed ahead of schedule. Checked everything under the hood to make sure i could drive it after the engine was replaced. Clay and team worked with me on installment plan. Great customer service from clay each time i called to make a payment. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a engine replaced.

Clay was very helpful and informative when breaking down everything that he would be doing to the car knowing that I dont know much about engines. I was also very impressed with the amount of time it took for them to rebuild the entire motor. The car runs great with no issues thus far. It also came with a full warranty which is ultimately what made me decide to go ahead and have it done. Texon was recommended to me by a friend and I will be recommending them to anyone else I know in the future and if I ever have another issue either with this car or any other I will give them my business again.

This place is magnificent I recommend this place to anyone who wants fast and very professional great service. I talked to Dean through text and told him my situation. Wanted to get my crankshaft polished and cleaned he told me that it will only take 10 minutes to do. Highly recommend this place. They go over every detail for your repair needs and let you know the exact cost you will spend. Very friendly people and great service.

Quoted 7-10 days for repairs and took almost 4 weeks. Communication from them is pretty much non-existent. I always had to call them to check on my vehicle. Once repairs were done I had the vehicle back for less that 48 hours and had to take it back for additional work which of course was additional cost and took a few more weeks.

This company and the people working there are great.. my contact person was Clay, he is very nice and informative.. they took my truck, changed the motor and had it back to me in about 1 1/2 weeks... after I got it back I had a slight problem which Clay and the guys took care of without question.. I highly recommended them!! It’s nice to deal with honest people!

I regret doing business with this company! I would not recommend Texon Motor. I paid $4,300 for a rebuild /re-install on August 3,2017, the engine locked up on November 30,2018. I only got 15 months/23,000 miles out of the engine they installed in 2017. I paid an additional $1,600 on December 28,2018 and it took them 23 days to repair the engine the second time. The warrany only covers 50/50 after 1year/12,000 miles. The factory engine lasted me 11 years/244,000 miles so when they tried blaming me for not maintaining the oil, I wasnt having it.

Text these guys got a quote via text. Then called and klay helped me from start to finish. He let me know what to expect and answered all my questions. The truck is running great and has never sounded better. So far so good with the motor. They saved me a chunk over what a local repair place had quoted me.

My dad and I both brought our vehicles here for repairs. He had been here before and said they did a good job, so he thought this would be a good idea. They were able to slip my car in for repair quickly and get the job done. My car seems to work perfectly again. It took them a little longer for my dads truck, because he had to have more work done than I did. But he says he is happy with the job they did, as well!
