My first time getting work done here was today, although theyve put air in my tires in the past. Manager Tim was great, and kind due to the issues I had getting my car there so I needed to reschedule my appointment a couple of times. The staff was thorough & nice; and they suggested work that needs to be done in the future without pressuring me. Im pleasantly surprised by the positive experience.

Tim and the other guy on the front desk are really indecent( Simply laughing at people that they even don’t know who they are) and not a good fit for customer care they just wanna have easy money without serving the customers. Rude and simply they don’t want to get any customers for this business.Just don’t go there because your job won’t get done even after a week for sure. Lazy people..I have seen that pep boys management just replied in same email for all the comments to contact them and provide details. And don’t care about these unsatisfactory experiences had by customers.

Tim, David, and Jordan were great. Called first to ask about specific tires and they had an opening right away to get it done. I got everything done all at once (tires and alignment) and my vehicle has been feeling great!

Terrible experience! Please don’t go there. I will never take my car to them again. Customer service was awful. The front desk guy Tim is rude and not helpful at all. Same with the other Spanish looking guy. They choose people and speak as they want and laughing at their customers.We are not going there to get the service for free. They are not willing to repair your car if it has a warranty. Poor all around service. The only skillful and helpful person was Mr.Clay(technician) but unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to have his service because of the lunatics at the front desk.

Today I went to this pep boys for a clunking noise. I had a tech look at the car and I tried to describe the noise and location the best I could. I was told the noise was normal and that they could not help me. I went home and took my tire off and found that my rear shock needed to be replaced. I replaced it myself and that solved my clunking noise issue. Instead of my issue being repaired. I just got criticism from a tech about my car. I wouldn’t recommend this place honestly.

The manager at the Homewood pep boys is an awful rude individual absolutely awful. There ias bad as Gardendale store I’m starting to think that all Pep Boys in the Birmingham area are awful according to the reviews I’m not the only one thinking this. I wish people up at the corporate level would do something about it!! But they probably won’t every time you write a bad review you get the same email computer-generated. Then no one emails you back they don’t care

Between being overwhelmed with work and unexpected costs for family issues I was BEYOND EXHAUSTED!!! Just came out of the hospital dealing with severe hypertension and my car decides to shake on me. I remembered I had received a business card from Earl Davidson when he came to my hotel on 280. So I decided to stop by Pep Boys to get an oil change and see whats going on. Went in expecting to spend no more than 80 or 90 for my synthetic oil. I was giving an estimated of $695.58!!! I could have cried!! I know its not their fault, but my Lord. I explained I didnt have the funds to take care of all of it TODAY and the guy kept telling me how important it was to get this done IMMEDIATELY!! I instantly felt overwhelmed and almost pressured to try and figure out a master plan. I seen that one of the charges was a filter. I explained that I actually already had the filter and was planning to get it changed but just hadnt had the time. I asked if they could just put it in for me considering a mechanic had shown me it only takes TWO seconds. The guy told me it would cost $17-$22 just to put a filter I ALREADY had in my car. I feel like that was ridiculous!!!!! I will NOT be returning and I will be giving the Regional Vice President, Earl Davidson a call. I would like to take the time and thank Mr. Jordan!! He seen how overwhelmed I was and he tried to give me options on how we can get me back on the road SAFELY!!! His customer service skills were OUTSTANDING!!!! He needs to be the one running the shop because thats a man that knows how to do business as well as TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER!!!!

I went there today to get my tires replaced because the treading started coming off my front tire. After I explained what was wrong, Tim (who was great) informed me of what caused the treading to fall off in simple terms for me to understand (Im not at all a car person) and then explained what needed to be done to prevent this from happening again. When it came time to give me the price of everything, he showed me his screen which displayed all my options and patiently explained what everything meant and why I was getting charged. He never tried to upsale me and was never forceful when I declined extra service. I was also in and out of there in about an hour and a half (which I was grateful for as I had somewhere to be after). Overall a great and safe experience for young women like me who are wary to go get your car looked at in fear of being over charged and taken advantage of!

I would 100% recommend this shop. I came in for an issue with my car where I wasnt quite sure of the problem. Clay drove it around and was candid with me that he thought it wasnt an issue that they could help with (transmission). I super appreciate them taking a look and being honest that it wasnt something that they could fix. Will always recommend them because theyve taken care of me with any issue Ive had and theyre super helpful every single time.

My car got stolen and stripped. I was having the worst day of my life and I was trying to find somewhere that would inspect my car, even when I couldnt honestly afford it. Everyone here is has been sweet and amazing to me, but Tim Harris did an OUTSTANDING job!! Helped me tremendously and that is something I could never thank him enough for. I will most definitely be back to get my alignment done or anything that is needed in the future. Again, thank you everyone 🙏

The guy I talk to twice now is just unapologetic when ive been there. The first time he said I needed tires and I just got them not all that long ago and when I asked for what my mileage was when I got them (I got them at another pep boys) he said the system wouldn’t show him. Which isn’t entirely his fault but still no sympathy. I came back to get the tires changed with an appointment and they said they couldn’t do it. What’s the point of appointments if they’re not honored? Just really frustrated with the system and their staff.

I will now go here for everything. After work,I had a tire emergency tonight. I had a nail in my tire and required a new tire. I have an odd size smaller tire. The first place I went, didnt have my size, the second place I went, their tire machine had just broken, the third place I went was closed, i then try Firestone on Greensprings, the lady working there wouldnt even check to see if they had that size, because it was 6pm and they closed at 7pm. I then went to Pep Boys. There was one technician and one person working inside, Craig Barnett. Mr. Barnett was so very nice, he new I was about at my witts end. He checked for the tire size, went and pulled the tire himself and had it installed all before 7pm. The technician was very kind as well. So willing to help me. I cant thank them enough for there kindness. I will alway recommend this place.

These guys got me out of a jam last week. I am from Huntsville, AL and I got out of a work meeting at about 2:00 to find I had a screw in my tire. I recently switched to a Tesla M3 and apparently it has special tires. The first place I went was scared to even jack my car up because of the battery on the bottom. I spent the next hour on the phone calling all the surrounding tire stores. When the people at this Pep Boys answered the phone they said, we work on them all the time please come over. They had the tire in stock and within about 40 minutes they had replaced my tire (the screw was too close to the outside of the tire to patch) and I was on my merry way back to Huntsville.

From the moment I walked in and no one greeted me, I knew it was gonna be a bad experience. I stood at the desk for at least 2 minutes and I didnt even get a can I help you? Which is kinda weird. When I finally did get their attention I talked to someone about getting my wheel bearing fixed and he tried to charge me $2000. Im not a mechanic by far but I know a wheel bearing fix does not cost $2000!!! You think Im about to give you $2000 and I didnt even get a simple hello when I walked thru the door?! Seems to me you didnt need my business anyway.

*** Editing this to 5 stars because they went above and beyond to fix this problem. Excellent customer service. I forgive you! :)I read on their website that you could be seen for an appointment. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change last week specifically so that I could come on my lunch hour. They even sent me a text the day of reminding me of my appointment! (No mention of not being able to fulfill it....) When I arrive, they tell me that they only have one person doing oil changes and 8 appointments, and the appointment only guarantees that the oil change will get done “that day.” What a load of incompetence and nonsense. Don’t put the option for appointment in hour slots on your website and then text me a reminder if you can’t make appointments happen. I will never be going to pep boys.

The service was bad. They did an alignment on my truck and it still rode horrible. I took it to another shop and they told me my cv axel and my lower control arm were worn out. They replaced it and Ive not had any problems since and this was all done the same day😡😡

Absolute lifesavers. I was travelling through Birmingham on the evening before Labor Day and blew a tire a few miles from this Pep Boys. I got myself and my car there just a few minutes before 5:00pm when they closed. By all rights, they could have closed and put me off till the next morning, leaving me hours from home in a tight spot. Instead they went above and beyond. Brian and Bray stayed almost an hour after closing making sure my tire was replaced and I was safe to get back on the road. Bray, the mechanic, did an especially thorough job, not just replacing my tire and sending me off so they could start their holiday - he took the time to point out even minor issues that I should check out when I got back home. Polite and professional, I cannot recommend or thank them enough.

I took my car here today to have two tires plugged from nails. Even though I had an appointment it took over an hour for them to tell me I need to purchase 2 new tires they could not plug them. I took my keys back and me and my son drove across the street to Omega tires, telling my 14 year old that they were trying to get over on me. Omega fixed both of my tires in 15 minutes and only charged me $15! $300 at pep boys vs $15 at omega. Shame on you guys for trying to take advantage.

I have been visiting this store since last 4 years for my cars. Only complaint I used to have was time. They generally took longer than they said but workers were really friendly and helpful. This time I found everything different.1) lady at the counter was so so rude.2) they first said it would take 2 hours but they took full 2 days for service.3) they no longer care about their customers.Maybe owner changed. But from now I will never visit this place. Please save your time and go somewhere else.

Ive gotten several major repairs here over the course of the past year and theyve done an amazing job. Unlike with other repair shop Ive never had to take the car back in after getting it back. The problem has always been identified quickly and accurately and fixed within a couple days as most. The employees are always polite and always call to confirm repairs before performing them, providing easy to understand explanations of whats wrong and why it needs to be fixed a particular way. Usually its an actual mechanic that does the call too, which is nice. Theyve even given me a discount on one particularly expensive repair that saved me a ton of money. In the end, Ive been extremely satisfied and this has become my primary repair shop.

If you live in Homewood Alabama and you’re looking for a mechanic shop you need to go to Pep Boys on Green Springs HWY. The reason why I gave them a 5 star rating was because they went beyond what is expect from a typical mechanic shop. It’s rare to find-especially during this pandemic- front desk Employees that interact with Bad tempered customers All day long never loose their smile. Today I witnessed multiple employees do this At Pep Boys and the one I interacted with was Ms. Theresa.I’m thankful to see that there are still companies out there that don’t allow how They are treated to determine how they serve. Pep Boys culture is Powerful, meek and unique, they never allow other people’s bad days to effect their focus on serving with a smile.Thank you for the smile and great attitude Ms. Theresa. What I thought was a wonderful experience turned out to be a dud and a migraine. I have attempted to get my Road Hazard Claim fulfilled here twice at the recommendation of the Warranty Company. The first time I did not have the mechanic call the warranty company and did not follow the claim exactly so I lost out on the reimbursement.. I’m out $100 but it’s okay. It was my fault. Now imagine when a week later I have to repeat the entire process with a different tire!! God love construction... I ask the mechanic this time to call the road hazard company and am actually encouraged to do this by the warrant company as this shop was recommended by the warranty company themselves. So as I stated, I asked the mechanic to call them for me. He seemed confused but once I explained it was a road hazard claim he seemed to understand. Four hours for a tire replacement later and a week after the repair is complete.. I find out this mechanic never even called the warranty company.. even though that’s what I was recommended to do by everyone involved and was told that he had. I hope you have success maintain business and Thank god I kept the tire so I’m only out $100 instead of another tire and the $50 I had to pay for the half job. Good luck if you go here.. bare minimum work with no accountability for actions.No one wears masks. No once socially distances. Never saw anyone wash their hands.

I have used this repair shop for a year. I’ve had more ups than downs with it. I’ve had to replace a fuel pump here and they tried to charge me $900 for the part and I found one on their website that I could have shipped to the shop for free for $200. That was the only issue I’ve ever had. My last service was getting my tire replaced which only cost $120 with warranty, labor, and taxes. My tire purchase made me eligible for one free year of Pepboy’s road side assistance which I plan on using. The staff is very friendly and personable. I will remain taking my car to get it serviced at this location.

Attention Uber & Lyft drivers: Make sure you bring your own inspection forms, they do not keep them on hand, nor will they notify you of this over the phone when you call to make an appointment. There is a UPS store nearby, but it isn’t open if you’ve made an appointment at or before 9:00 A.M.

Had an issue where my car broke down on i-20 as I was traveling from Virginia to Louisiana. Had my insurance tow my vehicle to this location and the staff was super helpful. They were able to tell me why my vehicle broke down and actually contacted a local dealer of vehicles manufacturer, and found that the issue with my vehicle had to do with a recall and the maintenance on the vehicle was covered by the manufacturer. They also waived the fee to diagnose my vehicle. This definitely saved me a ton of money and headache. As a guy from out of state I will 10000% recommend these guys and gal to anyone from any part of the US. Thanks!

We got a flat while stopping for lunch on the way through. We stopped by one repair shop close by and they said it would be several hours. Took the car to Pep Boys and Stephen got right on it to get the car into the garage. He was very friendly and helpful. We were in and out in no time. Would highly recommend if your car is in need of work or new tires.

My husband and I were traveling home from vacation with our 20 month old when the unexpected happened... a tire blow out! We still had a very long way to go, over 410 miles left. Unfortunately, my husband was unable to change the tire on the side of the highway due to the lug nuts being on way too tight (big thanks to the company we previously used for oil changes and tire rotations). Because of that, it warped the lug nuts and the lug nut wrench that came with our 2017 F-150 truck did not fit. We waited on the side of the road for roadside assistance and while we waited, we called around trying to find anywhere that had the tires we needed. We talked to someone at pep boys that was able to answer our questions quickly and had some tires that were the size the truck required. My husband decided to go ahead and replace all 4 tires since they had 50,000 miles already on them. The man we spoke to was very friendly and kind and stated he would have the tires down and waiting for us to get there. We finally got the roadside assistance and arrived at pep boys an hour before closing. They were so generous and very helpful. The employees there kept their word even though our arrival was delayed longer than we anticipated. The whole crew stayed after while they diligently worked and helped get us back on the road. They kept their doors open for my husband, myself, and our daughter when they very easily could have said it was too late to do that big of a job. I want to extend a HUGE thank you to this crew for ensuring the safety of my family through your work and extending your duties beyond your operation hours. We are very grateful for you all! 5 stars!!

The service was good. The time the service person gave me for my service was very accurate. The waiting room was clean and comfortable, but the TV service was not working well. It was broadcasting like it was a storm outside; on a clear day; then it eventually stop broadcasting; also no stirrers for the coffee. Very cordial and friendly Staff. Will go back and hope that the rest of the comfort amenities are working and available then.

So, I had a appointment at 6 Pm for Wheel Alignment at this store which I made online. When I arrived at the location, an old gentle man said we will not be able to service since they are too busy. Well then I said thats fine, but I had to do oil change as well so I asked if they could do it since it would take less time. First the guy said yes they could do it. But, when I told them that I had a coupon which is $20 off. Regular price was $74.99 so it would be $54.99. Then he said we can only do $89.99 and $20 off on that. So basically he was not accepting the coupon from Pep Boys website. He said he wont care whats in the coupon which I had. So when I asked him why he wont take that coupon, he got angry at me and behaved very rudely. He acted like he would pick something in front of him and hit me. Worked with Stephen there and he was fabulous. Took time to explain what needed to be done for my scheduled brake pad replacement, was up front about possible additional charges but said he wouldnt do anything that wasnt necessary (which he kept his word on). I will say, I dropped it off 9am on Sunday and got it back at 3pm so, took a long while but I lived close by so I went there to wait so its not a big deal to me as it may to others. I hope to return there for tires in another month or two since they seem to be a forthcoming bunch and helpful with discounts as well :)

These folks are very skilled. I had issues with my suspension and was sent to Rays from a different shop. Apparently they get many referrals from local shops; this alone suggests how exceptionally skilled they are!All of the staff whom I encountered were very friendly, personable, and demonstrated genuine concern for the customers.They were able to diagnose my issue within the first 30 minutes or so, after a different shop worked all day the previous day on my car yet failed to fix the primary issue!Ray was empathetic with my situation as Id already spent over 2K on repairs at the other shop the previous day and they were not able to fix the main issue; in the end he adjusted and gave me a very fair price for the repair.Now, the suspension on my car feels like new! I also appreciated that Ray called me later in the afternoon to check on things; other shops have not done this.Overall, this shop is very skilled, honest and have exceptional customer service. I would highly recommend them.

Made an appointment for an oil change and service rep told us it would take 45 minutes. After an hour *and* 45 minutes our car still was not taken into the garage, and the sales rep was not proactive in giving us any updates. Total job took 2.5 hours... for an oil change. Luckily the extra time in the waiting room allowed us to watch other unsatisfied customers. Comforting knowing we weren’t alone in this mess of a business.

My girlfriend had a bad experience last year. She spent $1600 to fix her air conditioner. She got a new compressor and her air still didnt work...the former manager then quoted her $1200 for a blend door actuator. She asked to speak to the manager and the guy at the counter loudly told her that he WAS the manager. A blend door actuator is a $90 part that I installed in 40 minutes in a 2005 Accord. Guess what? The part wasnt faulty.We took her car back a year later so I could talk to the manager. Fortunately, the fomer manager has moved on. The new management team and the technicians are great. RANDALL, RANDY, NOEL, and the rest of the crew spent two days diagnosing and fixing the issue for free. This is the friendliest staff I have ever met at a car repair center and my father was a mechanic for 30 years. I will be servicing my vehicle at this location from now on if this level of service is the norm. This is a great team and I would have no qualms sending my mother or girlfriend to this location. Watched this man ram my car over the speed bumps, for one, after abruptly asking for my key and telling me absolutely nothing about what was going on. They told me an hour and after an hour and a half, I find my car sitting with the keys in it.. they never let me know it was done. There was also a foul smell in my car, like spilled oil.

LONG wait times!! Listen, avoid this place at all costs!!! Even if you have e to drive a few miles for the next place, trust me it would be worth it not to come here! Inside associates dont even acknowledge customers when the come in. Facility is dirty, trash not taken out, etc. Slow, slow, slow consistently, as if its their culture. 💩👎🏽

I made an appointment but upon arrival was told they could not work on my car that day because they had too many other cars to do. The employee was kind in explaining this and tried to help me make a new appointment; however, it was incredibly frustrating to have rearranged my schedule and missed other events to make my appointment on time only to find out that it would not be honored. He explained that they become too busy in the evenings to do 5:00 or 6:00 appointments, which is understandable, but those times should not be offered if that is the case. It might be a great place to go otherwise, or you might have more luck calling ahead since I made my appointment online.

Went there this past Saturday ten minutes before they were to close. I was stranded over 100 miles from home. I would have understood if they had been upset with me coming in so late. But they went above and beyond with how great they treated me. After less than 20 minutes, 2 new tires were installed. Mr. Randy Chappell and the whole service staff should be commended for thoroughly excellent service. They truly cared. They didnt want me driving over 100 miles a damaged tire. Craig asked me to leave a review so here we go! I had a rough morning, car wouldn’t start, had to wait until noon until my roommate could come home and jump my car off. I came in about 1:30, he told me it would be an hour or two so I got my roommate to come pick me up. About 4;30, Craig gives me a call and tells me everything went well, all they did was change my battery bc it was so old and the alternator. He also looked at my vehicle as a whole and gave me an estimate of how much it would be to fix everything that was wrong with my vehicle. I came to pick her up and paid about $180 for everything total, excluding all the stuff on the estimate. He asked me to leave a review as I left so here it is! I highly recommend you guys come to PepBoys and join as a member. Lots of benefits when it comes to yearly maintenance and oil change and great customer service! Poor service, would not take my car there again, not even to get air put in my tires. The manager told several lies after installing an alternator in my daughter’s car. First of all, they did not ask if I wanted an OEM or aftermarket part. Only told me that my warranty company would not pay for OEM. I talked with my warranty company and they said they would have gladly paid for an OEM part, which was only about $30 more. The bottom line is that the aftermarket part is not putting out enough voltage for my daughter’s radio to work properly, especially when the air conditioner and lights are on and steering problems, which could be hazardous. The warranty company was willing to talk with the manager and stated if they would change out the part, they would pay the difference. The manager was not even willing to reach out to them; therefore, this left me no other choice but to go higher up the chain to try and resolve my issue. The warranty company did give me some good advice and said it’s best not to take my car to places like Pep boys or places of that nature.

Where do I begin - I bought two new tires from Pep Boys in 2016 with the hazard warranty and free Rotate & Balance for the life of the car, as well as, lifetime alignment for the car. Every time I have taken my car for a rotate and balance the air pressure is inconsistent - every car tire was set at a different pressure and lower than the recommended pressure for my car, (Every Tire PSI was set to: 18 psi, 25 psi, 26 psi, 32 psi) on another occasion the tire pressure varied per tire but had entirely too much air, (42 psi was put into the tires and my car recommends 32 psi max) both times I had to return to pep boys and have them fix this and remind myself to check the air pressure before leaving the store, due to it being a reoccurring issue at this location. The only reason I have stuck it out and continued to go there is the fact that I paid for a lifetime alignment for the car, which each time I return Pep Boys the woman at the front/cashier does not have a record of this and every time I have to search for my receipt of purchase and show them. The turn over is so high at this Pep Boys, there is never a familiar face to build a relationship or trust. Today the cashier called to inform me that I need to purchase two new tires, have all of my struts replaced and pay for the alignment because there was no record of me purchasing the life time alignment. They told me that the Rotate and Balance, as well as, the alignment could not be done without replacing the struts and the tires cannot be rotated and balanced without purchasing new tires today, then continued to argue with me about my purchase for the lifetime alignment, a person I have never met or seen in the store before, telling me I had to pay for it. I have never been spoken to so rudely or encountered that much confrontation over a service I am PAYING for, they quickly called me back and said they found the record in the corporate files for the lifetime alignment and the car is ready but they could not do the rotate and balance without the purchase of two new tires. For OBVIOUS reasons I do not have my oil or transmission fluids changed at Pep Boys due to the track record on my tires, I had my car inspected and the oil and transmission fluid changed at the Dealership a week before this visit for my rotate and balance/alignment trip to Pep Boys. I need two new tires, but based on the life of the tread I can go another 5k miles, this was discussed with the Dealership last week, in which they preform a vehicle safety inspection at every service. Pep Boys refused to do a R&B without me purchasing two new tires, not to mention they originally claimed I needed to have all of my struts changed and that they could not align my car or do the R&B without paying for the struts to be replaced or purchasing tires today, which has nothing to do with struts on a car. They told me that who ever serviced my vehicle must of missed the struts, when I told them it was the dealership, they did not have much to say after that and suddenly the alignment could be done and was free of charge, but the R&B they would not do without purchasing two new tires. Needless to say, my next purchase for two tires will not be from this Pep Boys all credibility has been lost, todays service was the final straw

I had a flat with no spare so I used pep boys tow service (relatively easy) took an hour and half to get there. Tow truck guy was cool. Dropped it off at pep boys and they were kind enough to let me know that my tires were probably still under warranty at another auto store which I didnt even think about! So they gave up the tire business but Im definitely coming back for everything else.

The staff was gr8. My car broke down in a neighboring parking lot, and a staff member came over to make sure I was ok and jumped me off. This allowed me to drive over to Pep Boys to get my car serviced. Mr. Raymond Winnett kept me informed of everything that was going on. He was very compassionate and very professional. Most importantly I wasnt hit with any hidden fees/surprise charges. My wait time was very reasonable.

I had to get my car towed and that was a long process because it was through an outside company (I think) but the friendly workers made it so much better. I was stuck at Pep Boys for a couple hours, and I was frustrated and exhausted bc my car, but the customer service was phenomenal. Craig is the one who took care of my car. He updated me on what was going on regularly, and worked diligently to find the parts I needed for my car and order them. It wouldve taken a couple days for my car to be finished, but they somehow managed to do it in 3-4 hours. Great experience other than the $600 I had to drop haha

I got a great deal on tires online on Friday, made an appointment for 10 a.m. on Monday. Apparently they had to go to a different location to get my tires because they didnt get them in advance of me showing up. That being said, it shouldnt take two hours to get from the Greensprings location to the Bessemer location and back. Long story short I sat there for almost four hours to get new tires. If they had told me they couldnt start my appointment for 2 hours I could have left to do other things and eat lunch and come back when my tires should up instead of sitting there and not getting anything done all day and getting hangry.The lady at the counter was nice about it and as helpful as she could be, but they really need to communicate better and be better prepared for pre-scheduled appointment requirements.
