Went there on a rainy afternoon just to get a quote and turns out they were able to get my car diagnosed AND fixed in less than 2 hours. José the mechanic did a walk through over everything he checked, found and fixed as well as recommendations on what I should get fixed in the near future. Having to get my car serviced has always been a chore I didn’t look forward to, until I found German Car Depot. They’ve serviced my mother’s car for years and treated her and her Mini Cooper so well I actually switched to a German-made car just so I could use such a trustworthy, honest and convenient shop. They take the time to do a great job and yet I always have my car back in a very reasonable amount time.

Work was done promptly as scheduled. I like the pictures and recommended maintenance they send you via text after they inspect the car. I was able to speak with the mechanic which was very helpful as I am a garage mechanic myself but do not own a home anymore and do not have access to my tools in storage. I had them change the oil and filter on both my Mercedes and BMW. They also did a brake fluid change on my Mercedes. I asked them not to touch my tires as I have nitrogen in them and this shop does not offer nitrogen. I will continue to use them and provide reviews after each service.

You have scheduled my oil change and agreed on July 24th at 10am - this is Saturday. and what ? you were closed !! Do you know exactly how to change the oil? They are constantly replying to reviews with we have no record... to cast doubt and remove blame so I have included one of the many receipts as proof, showing how costly even small repairs are here. Especially when not done properly and on top of that, damaging other parts of the vehicles in their care. Now you know they lie when they say perhaps you are referring to a different shop. No. Its definitely you!Took my 2004 Beetle here because of reviews. Several times actually. They fixed my driver side door, charged me twice, and now my window wont go up at all! Makes a horrible sound. Now I have to find where to leave my car with an open window!They fixed my AC and now it only blows extremely hot air. They changed my headlight and it went out shortly after.The only thing they did that has actually worked out has been a simple oil change, which they charged over $100 for! Every other result has been a nightmare!

This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of working with Rich and Scott. This last time the tow driver told them I had stickers all over my car which I told Rich no that was not true. However, there was no tow truck had the equipment nor the experience in towing a 2002 Mercedes which had lost all power to include the front end suspension was completely sitting on top of the tires. Even with Rich telling me since it was an old car which had been sitting for a year I may think of not investing in the car or I should have a mechanic to come to me. The car only has 129, 870 miles which is nothing for that car. I ignored Rich and called roadside service and they sent out a tow truck and I had it towed to the Mercedes dealer. Bought a battery and the suspension only needed power. I’m a stubborn woman I called German Depot again after getting my car back from Mercedes dealer and told them exactly what I needed and of course they agreed and said I need engine mounts which I agreed as well. Due to all the potholes in Chicago I didn’t doubt it for one second because I’ve had to replace them on my Mercedes here in Chicago. I like their transparency because the stop light report is what I get at the Mercedes dealer here in Chicago. Plus my initial visit in 2019 was good. I knew they could fix my car. My girlfriend, Dr. Cash picked up the car as promised the next day and she said, it drives beautifully.I just wish they had worked with me more in trying to get my car initially to them....I guess I trusted them more...because they are good and professional

State of the art car diagnostics,! I was not aware several issues had to be fixed ASAP due to faulty sensors never had a warning. , The guys suggested what issues required attention and which ones could wait a while. European car repairs are always costly but they are very reasonable unlike my car dealer.. What I liked best is their honesty, never pushy nor took advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge and I value that immensely. Thank you guys, you have a new client 👌💋

I located German Car Depot (GCD) through a Google search and am I glad I did! The previous shop that I used had no customer service, rude and acted as if they were doing me a favor. When I called GCD to schedule an appointment, Scott was thorough, patient and answered all of my questions. Excellent customer service! The Schedule A service was due on my 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300. I was able to wait for the car and it was done in 2 hours. Most shops keep the car for an entire day and you have to rent a car. There was a business area with WIFI that I was able to work while the service was being performed. These guys are GREAT! . Dont even consider taking your car elsewhere.

After I wrote the review on the German Car Depot, the owner contacted me because he wanted to know what happened. After I told my side of the story, he was concern and offered his apologies on the matter. I have to say that I did not expect his call. I will give the German Car Depot another chance, but when my car breaks down again…. Hope that it doesn’t happens soon.

The staff was friendly and receptive. Did a great job getting the work done and quickly as I was waiting for the car. Just moved from out of state. The only minor item was that I asked to not inflate my tires as they were filled with Nitrogen (garage doesn’t have nitrogen) but according to the car all tires were inflated more than how I had them. Will need to now go to Costco and have them deflate and re-inflate the tires. However, I feel they did a great job so will be back. You also get a digital report on your car which was handy that showed pictures of items they will watch for the next visit.

I’ve been using GCD for at least ten years and there has never been ANYTHING bad or negative to report. The guys treat me like a friend and have always come through as promised. The only comment I can add is “OUTSTANDING IN EVERY RESPECT”. The only reason I wouldn’t go there is if I had a factory new vehicle with an OEM warranty - but I’d DEFINITELY return to GCD IMMEDIATELY upon the end of the factory warranty! Thanks guys! 👍👍👍

Recommended thru Repairpal website. Needed to replace air spring on 2007 Mercedes ML350.Mechanic checked vehicle and stated possible issues. Was quoted price for repair and estimated time to finish job. They sent text to update work that was being done and estimated pick up time. Picked up car later that day, no issues 5 days later. Professional place. Price overall was fair (quality work is not cheap and for a European car better to take to a specialist). First time using this shop. Would highly recommend.

My daughter and I were in town for a short trip. The night before we were supposed to drive home my Audi would not start. We were able to get it jump started, but I was terrifed to take it out on the road and have that happen again or get stranded. First thing the next morning, I called around and none of the regular shops could change the battery in an Audi. Luckily I found German Car Depot. They were so close and fit us in right away. Not only did they quickly fix the issue, but they went above and beyoned and topped off all my fluids, checked the air in my tires and they didnt say they did it, but I am convinced that they added a magical solution to my windshield. It rained our entire drive home and without wipers my visibility was perfect (no fogging/nothing). I wish we lived closer so that we could use thier service all of the time! Used to service my car in BMW Miami but overcharged me and used my car most likely to go home as I add extra mileage when I picked it up. German Car Depot was amazing, attentive and customer-orientated. I brought my car (2005 VW Passat 1.8T) to them to run a diagnostic on a check engine light as well as check for oil leaks through the engine bay considering I just bought the car. A few days prior I took the car to another shop that did a horrific job with tons of negligence. I told my concerns to Scott, in the front office, and he assured and reassured my mind throughout the process of the car. He was thorough with explanations, and even took time out to answer a list of questions. The technician that worked on the car also did a full walk through when we picked it up to describe the work done and what to look out for with these cars. All in all, super knowledgeable and very well rounded experience. I would greatly recommend taking your car to them. They will get it done right and in a timely fashion.

My experience with GCD was great. Everybody I spoke with were extremely nice and accommodating. I love the email system that they use telling you the condition of your vehicle. I was originally scheduled to take my vehicle to the dealer and they beat their price by at least half.The only issue that I found which I am mentioning only to be completely honest is, I did not think the time that it takes to look at the car or repairs was explained completely as I was under the impression that my car would be ready the same day as I was off the day I brought it in but had to work the next day and would have needed it but luckily my wife was off so I took her car.That’s it. I don’t expect fast work as I do expect my vehicle to be fixed correctly and I think they did that 100 percent.

I went to GCD for a $150 pre-purchase inspection on a BMW I was interested in buying. They told me it would take an average of 1.5-2 hours to inspect the car. An hour after I dropped the car off I called them to see how much longer it would take and they told me they were done. When I arrived back at GCD I saw an inspection report and the mechanic who inspected it listed that the car had an oil leak coming from the turbo return line that was estimated to be a $500 repair. I bought the car based on this inspection that other than some wear and tear that I can wait on, it only needed $500 in immediate repairs. It turned out the car had 3 oil leaks none of which came from the turbo line. The oil filter housing gasket, the oil pan gasket and the valve cover (cracked) and valve cover gasket leaking oil. I also had to replace the serpentine belt in the first week I owned the car due to oil leaking on it and the original water pump which went soon after (A BMW Mechanic would have noticed the water pump will probably need to be replaced soon due to typical replacement needed on older BMW’s). I’ve now spent over $4,000 in repairs in the first 1,500 miles I’ve put on the car (and that’s from a reasonable Indy Shop). I never would have bought this car if I knew about these leaks/problems. In retrospect, they should have cleaned the engine, driven the car and better determined the locations of the oil leakage. I would have been happy to pay the additional cost. I realize it’s not an exact science, but then tell me that the oil leak(s) could potentially amount to thousands of dollars and the turbo return line leak is only a best guess.To make matters even worse, when I arrived home from buying the car, I found damage on the back bumper that was not there when I inspected it. GCD claims that they definitely didn’t cause the damage. The only reason I gave them two stars is throughout it all they were always nice on the phone when I talked to them.

As a first time customer, I was impressed with the customer service here. Great communication & follow up. Also felt better giving my money to these guys (as a small business) versus the Porsche dealer. I’d recommend the shop for sure.
