As always The quality of the product and the craftsmanship are always top-notch. They turned around shoot in a sports jacket for me in seven days. Beautiful quality I’ve been going here for about seven years now and I’m never disappointed everything fits first time, everything looks amazing, the quality is second to none and lastly I can always count on Sal when I wait until the last minute.

This place is a great family owned business. I was inquiring various shops for a specific dress and this is the only shop that took time out of their schedule to call me back. Even though they didnt have the exact dress I was inquiring, they provided me with numerous other beautiful options. My mom and I felt so comfortable with Ms. Angela and her granddaughter. They found my mom the perfect dress for my wedding and Ms. Angela altered it perfectly in such short notice. This family is so personable and trustful, I cant go elsewhere in the future.🥰💕

The dress that I purchased is lovely, but if you are going to buy anything here and are told a size please make sure that you get measured elsewhere as well, I didnt and paid $235 in alterations.

So my second experience even trying to do business with Conte and both times Im left wondering how this place is even in business. Theress never a car in their parking lot besides their own (I live around the corner). This time I needed measurements for a tux for a remote wedding. So I call them just now and ask if they could provide this service, and Im told they dont do that service. Confused I ask you guys are a tux rental center yourself right???. I knew the answer, however the gentleman on the phone said He (I guess meaning boss) doesnt let us do that service, there is a place in Ridgewood that offers that. Well guess where Im going when my kids need a tux, yea that place in Ridgewood.

This is the best men’s and woman’s dress shop in New Jersey , the service is better than any department store , family owned and expert tailoring , I would recommend this shop for the Oscars Ceremony 👍

AppallingEdit: Since Tony has found me on Facebook and keeps messaging me about this, I guess Ill elaborate so hopefully he stops.I had a horrendous experience here that ended in me needing to purchase a new suit a week before a wedding because of how this man mangled my suit.

I was shopping for a mother of the groom gown and Conte’s had a good selection of high quality gowns you didn’t see in every store, however had I known the wife of the owner was going to be so hard to work with I wouldn’t have given them my business. My dress was a $1500+ gown after alterations so you would think she would treat me with some pleasantries but to the contrary, every time I asked for something it was like pulling teeth and almost ended in an argument. It got to the point that I just wanted to pay for the dress and take it as is just not to deal with Angela. At the end the dress was still slightly big at the top- breast line but I didn’t care. I don’t like to be mean but Angela should remember that the one paying is the customer and not the other way around. At least that’s how she made me feel. Not a good experience for such a special occasion!

They have a beautiful selection of women’s evening wear and an awesome selection of tuxedos/suits. The Conte establishment, is a traditional tailoring workshop nicely & privately tucked away. I have to thank Sal for his meticulous custom tailoring. The hand tailoring techniques is its hidden gem with measuring details I have never expected. My countless years of different venues posed no problems for a suite with complimentary accessories. There recommended suits were spot on for my office dailies, a night on the town or any affair where exceptional style and quality are a must. Conte’s efforts in the finer details are remarkable. Highly recommend! I was in need of a tuxedo rental within 3 hours the day of an event. Stopped in the store and spoke with Sal who was extremely accommodating and assisted me with everything down to the sock/shoes! I couldn’t have pulled this off without his help. He is extremely prompt and professional and the service he provided was not 5 star but 10 star! After my experience I wouldn’t shop anywhere else. Thanks again!

Wow this place is awesome they took care of my suits in one day !! I recently lost a bunch oh weight and needed emergency alterations I’m from Wayne my towns tailor closed so I asked around and almost every person said the same thing TONY CONTE..Just be careful because the store doesn’t look like your typical tailor shop it’s like a high end Madison Ave/ Rodeo Drive Boutique with incredible merchandise at great prices, I ended up buying 2 Made to Measure Suits that I picked up the next week with a perfect fit !!!GO GO GO !!! Ive been using Tony Conte Formal Wear in Hawthorne for over thirty years. Theyve produced custom made suits and alterations perfectly for me throughout. Ive recommended friends (who became satisfied lasting customers) for alteration work in the tailor shop, rentals from the tux shop and dresses from the upstairs boutique. All top level, expert caliber work was produced right there for us all. Highly recommended.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I have been using Tony Conte Formalwear for about 4 years now. Every event that I attend I wouldn’t even think twice about going to Conte to have me fit for a suit or tuxedo. The staff is more that appreciative of their customers, and want you to look and feel your best. Every suit/tuxedo that I have gotten was altered to perfection and fit me like a glove. The quality of their products are impeccable, and I’ve never had a suit fit more perfect! I am always complemented on my outfit at events, and I tell everyone to go to Tony Conte’s! They will have my business for years to come! I promise you they will not disappoint!!

We went here to find mother of the bride & mother of the groom dresses at the same time and Angela was incredibly rude. She REFUSED to show anything to the mother of the groom until the mother of the bride had chosen a dress first. She kept showing us things but saying youre not getting this anyway and when we told her our budget she told us we belonged over there and pointed to the back of the store. She then began yelling at us not to take pictures of anything even though none of us were trying to. She made it seem like she didnt want our business. She was very condescending and we left after 20 minutes without buying anything. We found dresses at the mall that we liked better than anything here and at a fraction of the price. will never be back. Dont bother with this place.Update:2 days after posting this review Angela Conte had the nerve to call and say that she was “nothing but nice” and that she “let them try my (her) dresses on” and requested that this review be removed. Obviously that’s not happening. Especially after a phone call like that. Let this be a lesson to the Conte’s about customer service.

Great shop. Been in the community for a long time. You cant beat the knowledge and experience that the owners have in mens and womens fashion. Ive used them a number of times for both and all I get is compliments. Manager always tries to work with my budget. i like to go on off-hours to get undivided attention.

Wife left a review, Im just reviewing what happened when I returned the suit. I explained that the jacket was too small and bunched at my shoulders and the sleeves went up too much. Rude guy, replied with, do you stand like that all night. No, but people do eat and drink. Moving on..he stated that the shirt and jacket were both perfect fits. I tried them on and he said that since hes a rookie hell bring out a 50yr vet. A fellow employee. Now of course, he says they fit fine. The shirt said 3xl, but rude guy said it was only a 1x. Im a large! The sleeves were too short 32/33. All of my shirts are 34/35. The amount of excess material on the shirt was excessive. He replied with, its tucked in and under the jacket...his replies tell you a lot about him snd his way of business. In other words, dont mind the huge baggy dress shirt cause its ticked in and no one can see it. Guess its not a real complaint.Needless to say, the guy at the counter is arrogant and rude. Instead of trying to make things right, he brings out an expert to say how it is the right fit. I shouldve brought an expert with me too....Will not be going back and Ill be sure that every review site knows how this place operates.

I was so tired of going in and out of dress shoes that for my up coming event I almost declined my invitation due to time constraints and aggravation. A friend of mine told me about Tony Conte’s in Hawthorne I looked it up and saw some beautiful dresses on line , I called, an appointment was necessary...I was a bit curious about this but I was told it was individual attention to me ....I liked this idea...I met Angela a personal styist she helped me find the most stunning dress IN MY BUDGET which I think is important to convey. Because they have dresses from $500-$3000 mins you all are gorgeous but in the past I tried stuff on in other stores that were unaffordable and the heart broken had to leave empty handed....I hated that feeling ....but here Angela knew exactly what to service me with and I said YES TO THE DRESS nothing better than that feeling you will be stunning!!!! Oh almost forgot she even helped me accessorize (except for shoes) one stop shopping.To make the experience even more complete my husband who was with me to help me decide on my dress, found a new suit for himself to wear for the same event. The men’s suits are beautiful great fabrics And up to date styles and colors and custom tailoring for the perfect fit which he says he hasn’t had in 20 years ..... we have found a hidden jewel... it’s a must try place. Appointment is necessary for the womans boutique the service is second to none ( and I am not an easy fit she alters every item so it fits perfect omg!!!!)

Never rentuy from these RUDE people. The guy has the worst attitude ever. Not accommodating at all. The worst people to deal with, honestly dont know how they are still in business. So many other businesses in the area to choose from ,strongly suggest using one of them.IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS COMMENT: This was never about budget. Budget was never even discussed!! We tried to keep our business in town but ended up going to Biltmore Tuxedos in Ridgewood, where we received phenomenal service and had our choice of top of the line tuxedos. I hope Youre ok. After reading these reviews it seems like youre losing a lot of business. I highly recommend Biltmore Tuxedos.

They do a good job on your first order then they start seriously slacking. Had to go back to them several times to have them fix their own mistakes, not the greatest place in my opinion.

The front guy was very rude and nasty but decided to go through with a suit for my husband anyway. We picked up the suit and the only thing that fits him are the pants. Im livid right now and they will hear from either my self other my husband tomorrow.My Husband was in ny for pre-wedding celebrations and could not pick it up or try it on prior but since they measured him we presumed since they are professionals the suit would fit him properly. We were completely wrong.Typically my husband is a large in a shirt and the gave us a 3xl with sleeves too short.Today is the wedding and we have to borrow a different shirt and jacket. Not worth the hassle or aggravation.

He HAS OUR merchandise that was brought back on November 25 ,2019 because the clothing that he claims were altered were literally falling off with a belt on !Never refunded our $1700
