These guys are awesome. My car broke down with transmission problems. I had it towed to their site based on others recommendations. The identified that the issue is the transmission, but then also took the added step to call a dealer and find out if it was still under warranty. They called to let me know that it was and that I should have it brought to the dealer instead. You dont find this type of honestly and integrity often, these guys are great.

I had my 2008 Ford Escape transmission rebuilt by Capitol Transmission in February of 2019. I was very satisfied with the job. Brian and Paul were friendly, professional, and extremely supportive. Their price for the rebuild was the lowest of two other transmissions shops that quoted me.In November of this year, I took my Escape to a well-known brake shop because my front brakes were locking. This shop was expensive, yet could not guarantee that their service could rectify the issue. I decided to call Brian at Capitol Transmission, he told me to bring it over, he checked a few other things, and then opened the brake lines and everything was fine. Might I add that he did all of this at NO CHARGE!Last week during a snow parking ban in my town, part of my exhaust system detached, my own motor club was extremely backed up due to the aftermath of the storm. While I was waiting for them, Brian called after I sent him a video of what happened to the exhaust and to ask if I can have my Escape towed to Capitol. Brian called his own towing company and had my Escape brought to the shop. They reattached the exhaust pipe at NO Cost to me! I asked why no charge? He said that this is what we do for our customers! There is so much more I can tell you about this wonderful family-owned business, and the extent of their generosity to me, but I’d need another full page to do it. Capital Transmission was highly recommended by a friend. He said theyd take good care of me, and boy was he right! When my car wouldnt reverse, I had to get a tow to Capitol Transmission. They figured out the problem was a recalled defective part. They were able to get me moving again so I could drive the Dodge to the Dodge dealership to get the defective part replaced. They were professional, very friendly, and didnt charge me for what they did. Its a family atmosphere there. And all the guys were very nice and friendly. Top notch service in every way. I had extra problems with the transmission but they were fixed and my truck runs great now. It took a long time for me to get my 2000 S10 truck back but that was due to the pandemic. I went to Capital for a repairs on my transmission which I thought was gonna be major but it turned out It was minor, they were able to do the repairs quickly and efficiently, I had my car back within a few hours . The transmission on my 2012 Toyota Sienna van started slipping in cold weather and needed a rebuild at only 89,000 miles. This was a huge disappointment! But the low pressure approach, solid reputation and professionalism displayed by Paul and his team made my decision much easier and less stressful. I checked with my local Toyota dealer but the transmission replacement they offered cost more and only came with a 1 year warranty. The 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty and strong recommendation from my local mechanic made it an easy decision to go with Capitol.

After spending $1300 with others, trying to figure out and solve a problem with my Explorer, scheduled to leave for a very long road trip on a Monday, I found myself in this shop on Saturday morning, desperate for answers trying to keep hope alive that my family and I could still go on the trip with a later start. Its been about a month now and my Jeep Patriot drives like a dream. My transmission went out and I did not to mess around with business that did not specialize in transmission work. I told them my concern with my vehicle (making a noise underneath the carriage) and how other mechanics didn’t know what was going on or said they could not find the issue. As a single woman, short, and with grayish-white hair, my past is littered with car mechanics who were less than honorable. My current car mechanic (Burhoes in Bloomfield) told me that Capitol Transmission - a family owned business - would do right by me.I arrived early, before 7:30. Two mechanics, greeted me on their way to the shop. I looked carefully at the store front. A pegboard with paper orders...neatly arranged. The desk was neat, orderly, floor swept. A wall with notes from grateful people...would I be among them?It turns out the transmission was fine. My car computer was the problem.The computer is no longer made by the manufacturer...but they found one they thought was reputably rebuilt. The cost came in at half that of a new transmission. I received a one-year warranty! They back their work!While I was there, a tow-truck driver was bringing in a car. Paul was adamant that the driver be given a generous tip for his work. That spoke volumes to me as well.Dont hesitate to use Capitol Transmission. They are respectful, approachable, and handled my car and me as if I was a friend of the family. Thanks guys!

Paul and the team at Capitol are the absolute best. From the start, their professionalism impressed me and continued right up until the completion of the job. I had gotten quotes from other transmission shops that were sometimes as much as $700 more than what Capitol quoted me. I took my 2000 Chevy Blazer to two other shops in my area. One said my burned up wiring harness issue might lead to computer and transmission issues and I should consider junking the car. The other shop only had one guy capable of working on wiring harnesses and he was out indefinitely so they refused the job. Their estimate was over $1000 to start based on labor hours.Capitol BEAUTIFULLY FIXED the wiring harness and charged less than both shops estimated by a LOT. I realize that there is not a worse car problem than an intermittent condition that wont fail when the car is brought in the shop. In my case Paul just refused to give up without partially disassembling and testing everything and even replacing a probable cause switch. After that he returned my car at NO charge.My family has been using capitol transmission since the 80s. As far as Im concerned, there isnt any other outfit with a really professional workforce but also has always had a family feel with total honesty that is hard to find anymore. This story began as far back as in 1994 and as recent as July 2019. My first car was dying and it limped into Capitol Transmission & Auto Care. Brian looked at my old beat up 87 Ford Expo and shook his head in disbelief. I was in love with my car, and the transmission was failing, it barely moved. It worth no more than $500.00, but I needed that car to get to school and work. Brian worked it out for far less than the real cost....Fast forward to 2019. My 2009 Nissan Rogue stopped on the highway and again I found the best Transmission shop in all of Greater Hartford! Again Brian/Paul gave me a price which bettered the Nissan Dealership by over $2000 and a warranty that was again far superior than the dealerships. After the repair was done, I heard a noise in the back as I made turns. Brian again like an angel, took the time to fix an UNRELATED PROB;EM , the rear differential. It needed to change. Brian/Paul from Capitol Transmission Auto care came through like the Undisputed Champion of the Transmission World. He fixed the prob lem FREE OF COST!! He not only save me a bundle, but he saved me my sanity. I had a blown transfer case and went in for a full rebuild.I received the truck back to find 4 wheel low range was still not working.Paul and Brian told me tobring it right back.After a few weeks and numerous labor hours and parts being replaced at no extra cost to me, a mouse nest was found in the fuse box along with wires which had been chewed to bits.Brian, Paul, and their team fixed all of this damage which had occurred prior to me even owning the truck and refused to let me pay them for my it.I was torn between rebuilding my old case and throwing a junk yard case in the truck to try to “get me through” , and I am so glad I didn’t go cheap on this one.Thanks guys!

Had a transmission event on late Friday afternoon before labor day weekend and they were more than happy to receive the car via tow that Saturday morning as they were already closed on Friday. Took the car in Saturday AM at the appointed hour and checked it out the Tuesday after the holiday. They were very patient as the cost to replace was more than the book value of the car. They were patient as I decided what to do. The easy going approach and customer service they provided me i will recommend them. Eventhough I ended not replacing the trans I would recommend them on the easy going approach instead of high pressure want to make a buck some other repair places would have pushed.

If you’re looking to get work done for your car and want a high quality job done, then this is the place for you! They’re family owned so its the best option if you’re trying to support local run business. They accepted my cars warranty which was awesome. I had a motor issue, thought I only needed one motor replaced but turns out while they were checking out the one motor they noticed the other motors in the car were not in the best condition. So all 3 were replaced as a courtesy, which was awesome and didnt cost me any extra (since I did have my warranty). Basically, their customer service was great as they answered all my questions. They even kept me informed on the status of my car by calling to give me updates as it had to stay the weekend to have the job completed. Thank you, Capitol Transmission!

7-10-2019: My 2010 Subaru with 160,000+ miles making noise. My mechanic had put on new tires a month ago and attributed noise to perhaps transmission problem and sent me to Capitol to check it out. Brian test drove my vehicle and determined new tire noise. Capitol Transmission took care of one of my vehicles 15+ years ago and I had very good results then. I have a 1969 Chevelle with a TH350 transmission that needed rebuilding. Brian from Capitol Transmission knows cars. He walked me through options and provided a super great price. More importantly, their work is great. He let me see the other cars he was working on and they do all types of transmission work. Not many shops would do that. Most of their cars are newer but they definitely have a mix of old and new. There are not many knowledgeable, reliable and honest shops out there and Capitol Transmission is definitely on that short list of shops. To show you how honest they are, they found some other minor issues with the engine that I would have paid them to repair (valve cover gaskets leaking) but Brian figured out after talking to me I could do it myself. Instead of running up the bill, he told me the issue and let me fix the problem. I would take any car there and know that they are keeping costs down while provided A+ work. If you have any transmission or engine issue, go straight to Capitol Transmission. They are not just transmission specialist. They do it all. Paul and Brian are running a first rate shop.

Not the way anyone want to start their day but recently after running errands I got into my Chevy Uplander and it would only work in reverse!!! I had previously did business with Capitol Transmission so we gave them a call. We spoke to Paul who told us to bring the vehicle, which we did. Also, our previous warranty had expired because there wasnt a lot of miles on the van they removed, rebuild and installed the entire transmission for NO CHARGE!!!! Really, who does that? I have had my transmission rebuilt on my truck at other facilities in the past. This is by far the best transmission shop in CT! I used the night drop to get the work started and only spoke briefly with Paul and Brian. They diagnosed the issue and I agreed to have them perform the repairs.When I picked up my vehicle the bill was exactly what we had agreed upon, even though some more parts were required to do the job right. Very professional people to work with who stand behind their work 3yr-100,00 mile warranty.

These guys are the best. Last summer my wifes van had to get a new transmission when we got stuck returning from vacation just as we hit the CT. border. They came highly recommended and now I see why. They are knowledgeable, professional and were able to get her car back on the road in no time. Just this week my car had an issue and I truly believed I was going to need a new car as my car was not worth investing much money into. Imagine my surprise when I spoke to them the next day and they said it was a simple, inexpensive fix and the car would be done right away. That is what separates the good places from great places - outstanding customer service. That is what you get at Capitol Transmission and that makes them great.

We had my husbands 1999 Ford work van fixed at Capitol transmission. They were wonderful! The price was more than fair for the work that they performed the transmission was rebuilt and extensive break work was done. Paul and Brian were professional and friendly. I would recommend them to everyone!

I highly recommend Capitol Transmission and Auto Care. Paul and Brian were professional and diligent. Capitol Transmission extended courtesies that I would have otherwise had to pay for if those tasks were performed by any another shop or dealership. No matter how many times I reached out to Paul and Brian, they were always patient and answered my questions in a pleasant manner. If that is not enough, I received quotes from three other shops/dealerships and Capitol Transmission’s quote was lower and offered a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty. If you have transmission issues, look no further! Take my advice and bring your vehicle to Capitol Transmission.

I had a transmission rebuilt by capitol for my Ford-E-250 in 2014, unfortunately the transmission went bad after about 1 year and 3 months. I went to see Paul at Capitol and explained what happened. He had greeted me with kindness, was overly apologetic for the short coming of the transmission, and asked me to drop it off immediately. I did just that and without any questions asked, my truck was returned with a BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION!!!! Ive recommended these guys to everyone and I wouldnt take my vehicle anywhere else. Capital Transmission was recommended to me by another mechanic about 18 months ago; who was unable to diagnose the transmission issue on my aging foreign car. Brian, Paul and their team are very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely courteous. I was given a quick and honest diagnosis which was far better than what I was expecting. They fixed my car and it has been running perfectly ever since. When I had a transmission fail on an older SUV they repaired it for a fair price and the truck is still going strong. You don’t find this level of professionalism now a days – in any industry!! I had to drop the SUV off unannounced in the middle of the July 4th holiday weekend and they not only gladly accepted it; but they had it repaired by Tuesday morning! They know how taxing car repairs can be and they are upfront, honest, and timely in getting you back up and running!! I highly recommend them and encourage everyone to give them a try. You won’t be disappointed and I bet you will recommend them to your family and friends as well!!

Hands down most friendly shop around, I for one don’t let anyone work on my truck, and I mean no one, but I had a lot going on and the transmission blew so I decided to give Capitol a shot, and from now on anything transmission wise I will have Capitol transmission do the job. I had an issue about a year after my trans was rebuilt and they were nothing but understanding and nice people to deal with it’s not just a place to have your car worked on it’s a place where you go to have your car worked on and be comfortable and have a great conversation. Thank you Paul and Brian for all your help I will be recomending you to all my friends and family if anyone is ever asking about a shop. Also very reasonable pricing and best warranty around.

Had my transmission replaced by Capitol a while back. The price was reasonable but the warranty was what made the decision easy. Dealer offered a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty, Capitol offered 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. Says something about your work if you are willing to stand behind it 3 times longer than a dealer would.

Great WorkI’m at 75k on the rebuilt transmission they did. Like others have said, these are regular guys, not techs sitting behind a computer. You deal with the owner. This is the place to have your transmission rebuilt, or other work done. They really know what they are doing with transmissions, and the owner cares a lot about the work they do. When I talk any dealers, mechanics, or tow truck drivers, they all say Capital Transmission does solid work. Plus, I know they back it up. Rebuilding a transmission is never cheap, but it will last, and their other work is not at rip-off prices like Firestone or the Dealer. Highly recommend.

They were very helpful and courteous. My car needs a new transmission, although I am unable to afford the repair at this time, they were kind enough to help me look into other alternatives as well as giving me the diagnostic for FREE! I highly recommend this company.

I cannot say enough good things about these guys. I was completely lied to by a big chain automotive repair company about needing ALL new struts on my car. They guys at Capitol test drove it, checked my car from head to toe and informed me my struts were fine. They made some excellent suggestions for maintenance on my car which has hit 100,00o miles. They are were honest and up front about everything. This is my new car maintenance place. I will tell everyone I know to come here. Finally, a place I can rely on!
