Im so glad I discovered Specs! Im fairly new to requiring prescription glasses. I had been under the impression I needed to purchase glasses at my optometrist office since they immediately send you over to the optician after your exam. I recently have felt the need for lighter frames but wasnt due for an exam. I knew there had to be an easier and more economical way. I had spent a fortunate at my optometrist office over the past couple years. I acquired my script and after searching out my options online I came across Specs Optical. I spoke with the owner, Steve, and he was so down to earth and pleasant. No appointment is needed. I wasnt disappointed when I arrived...it was well worth the 30 minute drive! First thing I noticed was the relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I was cordially greeted by Steve. I explained my situation and he helped me find two pairs of frames and ensured they fit properly. I also brought some frames to be fitted with new polarized lenses. I was amazed at the deal I received! Im highly impressed by the quality of the lenses as well. Ive done business with Steve twice so far. I brought him another pair of unique frames for lenses and they turned out perfect as well. Had a wonderful experience with Specs with a great selection of frames got sunglasses too! I love my glasses the quality of the lenses are excellent! I made the mistake of going to America’s best with my last pair of glasses and was highly disappointed it was so refreshing to go to a place with quality products! I recommend specs to everyone!

I have to agree with the other reviewers here - Steve is the best around for a pair of glasses. Fast turnaround, upfront pricing, great selection. And on top of all that, he treats you like a human - not just another customer. Don’t waste your time elsewhere.

Excellent service! I came in, without an appointment, with broken glasses from a different company and he was very helpful. More than willing to try everything he could to fix them or put the lenses in a different frame. Unfortunately, they were beyond repair. I ended up getting a whole new pair that he helped me pick out. Lots of cute frames! Affordable, too. Much less than a doctors office!

Amazing! I had tried progressive lenses in the past but was very disappointed and hated them. This time I had Steve make my lenses. What a difference! I can see far away, midway and close up just by moving my eyes! No more bobble head action trying to find the sweet spot.If you wear bifocals or progressive lenses, you MUST come to Specs!

I dont review often, but I feel a moral obligation to help anyone reading this to know that place is the most genuine and transparent business Ive ever visited. The doctor here has 35 years experience and is the only one you will speak to, hes extremely down to earth. The prices are literally 50% cheaper from all competitors with the work quality being much higher than all others as well. YOUR GLASSES WILL NOT BE SENT TO A LAB, they get worked on right infront of you and are done within 15min (made me a fresh new pair in less than that). If this place had more coverage than the big brands, I promise they would go bankrupt.

If your looking for glasses with no hassle or hidden fees WOW this is the place! Great customer service and wonderful staff. Steve went above and beyond to make sure I had exactly what I needed…and he did it all in 20 min! That’s right 20 min I had a brand new pair of glasses made! All of this was done with the owner Steve sharing a pleasant conversation while I was able to sip the beverage of my choice ( that’s right he has everything from water, soda, beer, wine etc.) with great music and atmosphere to relax while they work on your glasses. I called day of, after dealing with 3 main retailers who did not have availability for 2 weeks and one up to a MONTH!! I was lucky I came across Spec Optical online. I called and Steve who pleasantly picked up and said “Come on in now and I’ll be happy to help you!… WOW. I came in with just the glasses size, specs etc. and he handled everything else with excellent customer service and a good all-around positive attitude. You can tell he loves what he does and is happy to help anyone with getting the right pair of glasses. Not only did I get the perfect fit and glasses, but he gave me a great discount oh and did I mention it was all done in 20 min!!! If you need glasses day of, and don’t want to deal with the main retailers pulling your stings and emptying out your wallet/bank account due yourself a favor and call Steve at Specs Optical.

I went there today 4/8.. I went at 11:15 I was done by 11:40. I love the space, it’s very clean and Steve was very nice!!!! He was so helpful, I really enjoyed my experience and will be back.

After a month of failed attempts at Vision Works to get anything I could see out of, I brought my favorite frames to Specs Eye Bar, and in 45 min, I had 4 pairs of glasses that I could see perfectly out of. Their courtesy and attention to detail is greatly missed in bigger chain stores.

No one should go anywhere else for glasses. You just have no idea what you are NOT seeing until you gave gotten glasses from Specs!!! You can see at night, in the rain, amazing!!!! Great experience! My cylinder was -4 and was made in 3 business days!!! The fastest, cheapest way to get your glasses is to come to specs eye bar! For the first time in my life Im able to see out of my glasses! My prescription is so strong my whole life I thought the only way to be able to get the right prescription was to go to the supposedly two best in the state..... I will never go anywhere else except Specs....unless I dont want to be able to see out of my glasses! I am so glad I stopped here! The owner can do any prescription and I still have both arms and legs! Im so used to paying almost a grand for my strong glasses and when he said less than a quarter of that I couldnt believe it and that included my frames!! The owner puts his heart and soul into his customers being able to see out of their glasses. If you cant see he will do what he has to do so you can. Come in and see what everyone is talking about at Specs eye bar right off highway 29 in Greer, South Carolina! They even do sunglasses too!!

I am currently at specs optical and to say Im impressed is an understatement. From everything to the relaxed environment to the high quality of the lenses. Also frames are sold for a very good price. I was in and out of the door with lenses put in within 20 minutes with an ice cold beverage. The gentleman who owns the shop is very down to earth and you can tell that he loves what he does. Steve Pitman is an amazing man. The hospital lost my sisters glasses, she was in the hospital in critical care and could not see who was talking to her or what was going on around her which was very scary for her. I went to Specs at 5:30pm and Steve stayed and made a pair of very affordable replacement glasses for me to take to my sister. I will always be grateful that he took the time to care and help me when we needed a compassionate and caring person.

I went in to Specs Eye Bar yesterday and was truly impressed! Steve the owner took a genuine interest in my situation and was very knowledgeable and willing to help and go the extra mile! I hardly recommend Specs Eye Bar to anyone needing eye care / glasses ( they actually make most of the prescriptions right on the premises and they are made by the owner himself who has about 20 years+ experience making lenses. I was looking for an eye glass place and we just happen upon this place. As we walked in the owner made us feel at home. He told us they didnt do exams on site but he was very generous to set me up with a eye doctor he knew. The same day I went to the eye doctor and then back to Specs. Well I thought it was going to cost me a fortune, but to my surprise it did not. The owner helped me to pick out glasses that were just right for me. He explained everything so easily to understand. He even gave us a discount. He had my glasses by the next morning. I was wowed! I have never received such great and kind and helpful service before then i did the day I walked into Specs. I recommend this place to everyone. It was very affordable and friendly and very very well worth it! Will be using this place forever!

I can safely say without hyperbole, the glasses I got from Steve are the best Ive ever worn in my life. Previously, I had settled with bargain glasses, and that was certainly a mistake! As it turned out, the glasses I had been wearing for the last two years had the focal point set too low, and Steve identified that flaw. Thanks to his expertise, the neck pain I had been experiencing due to tilting my head to see clearly is gone completely! The service was also great; Steve provides a personal level of service that you dont get at the big chain stores. Steve and Gwen are the best. I purchased my last pair of glasses from Carolina Vision 3 years ago before the warranty was up I had to replace the lenses. And once again my lenses are scratched and peeling. I called Steve and the next day went in. The boutique atmosphere is so welcoming. I got my first pair of glasses last year from Specs and I absolutely love them! The Prada frames are so cute and its amazing how much clearer I see now. I recently got a pair of prescription Ray Bans that are perfect. Steve also helped my mom pick out a great pair of Tory Burch eyeglasses that are her new favorite pair. Fast, friendly and very knowledgeable! Steven informed me about different options of lenses by asking what i wanted and was looking for and then pointed me in the right direction. This was my first pair of progressive lenses and boy did he deliver. He had clear predictions as to what i would be facing by having to get used to progressives. Due to the expert measuring up front they were a perfect fit and took very little time getting used to them. Ontop of the professional salesmanship he offers warranties on his products that are double that of the competition so you can get that new eyewear without the constant worry for the future just in case something DOES happen! I highly recommend this optician for all your optical needs!

I purchased two pair of glasses in May, 2012 and the quality of the frames( Prada & Vogue) and lens is excellent. I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years and the lens that I use to have in my glasses ( I will not name the brand but they are advertised on TV) dont even compare to the quality of lens I have now. Everything is so crystal clear. I use to take my glasses off sometimes at night when I drove because of the glare but that is not a problem now. I live in Simpsonville, SC and it was well worth the drive to Spartanburg, SC for the excellent customer service and care that I received. Specs Optical is AWESOME!!!

We went in to see Steve not knowing what the outcome would be since never having tri focals let alone any bi focal glasses in my life. I fought it till the end fearing that wearing any bi or tri focal glasses would diminish any chances of seeing like anyone else on the street. Well Steve taught me that not only would I be able to see, but able to see crystal clear like I should. Steve did not lie about anything and my vision is so much better then I could have ever imagined. He advised me that the HOYA lens would do the trick for me and having a -8.75 prescription I can see better now then in years past! Thanks Steve!

I have lived in Spartanburg many years. I prefer to spend my money with local businesses who really understand what quality and customer service is all about. Recently my vision prescription changed dramatically and I was also encouraged by my optometrist to change to a new frame that could be easily adjusted and with better clarity. My old prescription used Kodak progressive lens and lightweight Silhouette (sp) frames from another large family provider. I spent 2-3 days on the web doing detailed research on progressive lenses and who makes the best, the various quality levels, and who sells what. I found that the pricing to some is akin to selling used cars...not very reassuring.After many many web searches and numerous phone calls I discovered that Hoya makes superior optical lenses for a variety of applications. Hoya sells worldwide but manufacturers in the U.S. and has a large lab in Greenville. They also have specific high quality optical providers throughout the upstate. Specs Optical in Spartanburg, owned by Steve Pitman is one.Previously I had also used Varilux Comfort progressive lens. They are sold by a high percentage of opticians in our area. Pricing for Varilux Comfort lenses was all over the chart, from a high of $1,300 at Lenscrafters, no Im not kidding you, in fact I called them twice to verify the price, to lower prices from Alva Pack, Wilkins, Costco, Sams Club, etc.. The add-ons such a scratch coating and UV protection can add an additional $100 plus onto the lens price.I called Specs Optical and talked to Steve late one afternoon. I told him of my objective and intricate research and listened to his advice. I was impressed with his care, concern and most importantly knowledge. He explained the huge quality difference between Hoya progressive lenses and the many other types of progressive lenses available.I went to his store on Hyw. 9 the next day with my prescription in hand. I needed a very durable frame since I have Parkinsons disease. After about 45 minutes the right Hoya progressive lens and a very good frame were purchased at a price point way below my budget. After a few days I went back and got fitted. The Hoya lens are crystal clear, with no distortion. They have UV protection and scratch resistance built in at no additional cost. The fitting process was explained in detail. It felt so good to be treated with respectThis has been a fairly long review, however it just starts to scratch the surface of how much my new lenses and frames have enhanced my quality of life. I highly recommend Steve and Specs Optical.

Went in for replacement glasses. Wanted something lighter. I was shown the ZeroGframes, which are so light you can hardly feel them. Before I could ask about lens weight for my perscription Steve was explaing about the Hoya lens and its superior optical clarity and lightweight. Have received my glasses, their fit and weight is just what I wanted. My vision is crystal clear with these lenses, much better than the oldpair. Wore them last Sunday to play golf, glasses felt great, no slipping or sliding around, made it much easier to find my ball in the woods. Wish I could say it also fixes your golf swing but I guess thats asking a bit much.Liked these glasses so much Ive ordered a pair of sunglasses also.Great, Professional service and a quality product.
