Ive been ordering food from Great Giant - Soul Food Town for months and until recently I would have rated them 5 stars. My favorite used to be their wings which were big and meaty, and delicious. The past two orders though spaced a couple of weeks apart were very disappointing. Instead of the colossal sized wings I have gotten with previous orders, they were so much smaller, some even on the tiny side. I dont know if theyre having supply chain issues, or just trying to make more money by buying smaller wings, but I think this will be the last time I order chicken wings from them. I probably will order other food from there and review that separately, but the declining quality of the wings deserted this 2 Star review.

Sunday 10-24-2021 I purchased some greens from the deli. Got home and after the first fork full. I noticed that the greens were crunchy. I been eating greens all my life and I and never had crunchy greens. DONT EAT THE GREENS Disgusting!!!

Ordered through door dash. It was fast and on time. The ribs were very good. The meat was falling off the bone. The sauce could be better. Its a corporate BBQ sauce like Gordons or something. Still good enough to rate 5 stars.

The food is so delicious and truly reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. True southern soul food. The portions are so big too! Definitely will order again in the future.

I usually like this place as I’ve had their food twice before. But today my food was all bad. My pork chops were fried way too hard. The meat was way too dry & seemed old. The candied yams had some sort of green stuff on them. The greens were tasteless & had way too many stems. I ordered extra cornbread because I loved their fresh cornbread and they gave me cornbread in a package!!

Chef Lopez is so professional and nice. He deserves a raise and that spaghetti is delicious❤️

Everything we ordered was great! The chicken strips were crispy and had a lot of flavor.

The food came hot and let me say it was filling and delicious! A nice comforting food for a winter day! Im skeptical about soul food restaurants because it dont live up to my expectations bit boy I was pleasantly surprised! I will tell everyone to give this place a try. Great food!!!!

Oh my goodness... this place has wonderful soul food, huge servings, greens, ox tail, black eyed peas, delicious cornbread!! Cater-your-party-worthy. Yowza! I have come home

Food in the deli is not good anymore it use to be delicious! I wish those old workers where there cooking because the the Hispanics thats cooking now dont know what they doing yams where watery not sweet chicken had no season spaghetti was watery I was not satisfied DONT think Ill eat there again.👎

The deli macaroni and cheese is nasty, the greens had so many stems and barely enough of the actual greens, the cornbread was too mushy & sweet. Whoever is the cook needs to be taught how to actually cook because this is not it!

The meats are horrible there chicken feels slimy the ribs taste super cheap just stick with the sides have always have good luck with side items

I had to update my previous review of 5 stars as I’am disappointed today with my order. I ordered a catfish dinner, chicken wings, baked spaghetti, mashed potatoes with gravy and yams. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly and appears to have been rushed, It’s rubbery and has no seasoning. The fish I had to completely throw it out, it was undercooked and had no seasoning as well. The spaghetti had a few burnt noodles and that lacked seasoning as well. So basically almost $40 and a tip to the DoorDash delivery driver down the drain! I have no desire to even try the yams or eat the potatoes. I’am a regular customer and I always enjoy the meals but today I’m not sure if I’am going to continue to patronize this business. I ordered a taco dinner yesterday and instead of refried beans I received black eyes peas and I tried to give the benefit of the doubt but today this food is terribly unacceptable!

The food was double foiled perfectly so my food was nice and hot I appreciate the packaging and handling if the food especially during covid. Ive never been this impressed with delivery much appreciated!!

They have everything, especially more authentic Mexican ingredients. Everything way more organized than Meijer too. Plus you can get a 10lb bag of chicken nuggets and i think thats just swell.

I dont live in the area but everytime i be with my sister and shop here people speak genuinely and someone is always clean ...dude picking up the parking lot for example. Someone in charge has a eye for detail and its appreciated.

Its a ok store just when you dont feel like going out a bite but far as the greens in the bag Collard greens Mixed greens mustard greens they can to alot better

Everyone is willing to help. If product isnt on shelf...someone will go in the back and get it for you. Also they dont just disappear into the stock room never to return😏. Looks like theyre doing some renovations which is great! I hope to continue shopping there as long as it is safe and clean. It would be nice if all the store fronts in that strip did something to make it more appeasing to the eye. More trash cans would be nice...and a good scrubbing of the parking lot would really help. Overall though I dont mind shopping there. I have to add that I had a problem with item pricing so I talked with the owner and all Im going to say is he made it right, although I was at fault after he showed me the error...which again was my fault, he still insisted on going above and beyond. To me that makes all the difference and Ill continue to do business with them. Thank-you.Sincerely a satisfied customer. And Thank-you for making a difference in the community.

The store was very clean and well appointed with popular items the is very convenient and practical to purchase for every day use. GREAT selection of many kinds of meats and seafood. The store has a lot of frozen meats and seafoods in bulk for purchase. They also have a hot and cold deli with many variety of foods to tantalize the taste buds. All summed up its a GREAT PLACE to shop with convenience.

I love what the new owners are doing with this store. Prices are starting to be more reasonable. Still needs help on a lot of items. Especially the frozen food areas. But the meat department is really reasonable now. Before i would never grocery shop here. Everything was way too expensive. Now i get weekly ads texted to me so i dont miss a sale. Even the fresh deli food cooked daily is going down in price. Suggestion: come down on the price of side dishes for meals and the deli should have a menu and price list daily because there is different food out daily. No one knows how much anything is unless you ask someone. My only complaints. Great job new owners keep up the good work.

I love this neighborhood grocery. It feels like the stores my mom shopped at when I was a kid. They have a surprising quantity of produce, dairy, and meat. The store looks great with the new management and makeover. Im grateful for the investment in our community.

Not enough workers for such a large crowd of shoppers. Costumer service was superb. They have a deli with fresh homemade products and you can smell the food as soon as you walk in...its delightful, stop by.

Love this store great sales and nice people........ If something not on meat shelves ask and will get it for you if they have it...... But sales are wonderful..... Got a hot meal stop to get lunch or a dinner to take home........ This place is the boom!!!!

Just moved back to town & was looking for the old “Food town” meals I got as a little girl growing up, but came across way better. It’s like Sunday or thanksgiving dinner all year round. I’m satisfied they passed my “Food town” taste buds🤗

Store has been under new management for a while now. The selection has vastly improved (still could use more low sugar and diet options). The deli/buffet staff does an amazing, authentic job with their recipes.

First time there. Everyone was friendly, nice selection of groceries, and meat. Produce was very fresh, and the store looked very clean. Id recommend the great giant.

A great store that has all your needs so glad its no longer Duthlers anymore. The new owner has done wonders with this new store, good variety or meat, hot soul food dinners that are really good. Store has everything u need definitely recommend this store.

Very pleased the new owners are making improvements to this store. We deserve a good quality grocery store in our area . Why should we take our money to other neighborhoods and make them rich... when we can spend it right here in our own neighborhood . By doing so..we keep the employees employed and the store open for business. I had stop going to the store for the following reasons...meat dept sucked and unfavorable characters hanging out in front of the store. But now I can see things are getting better as time goes and Im happy to be able to go back to the store and continue to spend money in my community. Pps..now if Dollar General could get their act together....it would be a win win!!

Clean, large, and has everything supermarket. Walking distance, from apartments. Conveniently located, reasonable prices groceries. Fresher fruits and vegetables. The best meat department ever. Selections, of a huge supermarket. Priced very compatibly.

The new owners have really stepped up their game the store is much better than it was.....very clean and much more pleasant to shop in and prices are still relatively low. I will definitely be shopping there again

Staff was friendly. Parking was crazy. Sale start from Wednesday to Wednesday. They are having a sale on party wings. $5.99. ( only 3 per customer) spicy meatballs $1.00.

If its frozen its cool to buy..you will come across some spoiled meat If you buy anything thats fresh..(raw)

The store itself wasnt too bad. Customer service was good. My only issue was the people who hang out , outside of the store. Aggressively hit on by a group of men, that were loitering. Thats something the store cant control (I think). I wont be coming back anytime soon. Not by myself anyway. Its disappointing.

Staff is nice. Its a total hood store. Fresh food is lacking, either from lack of attention or bad shipments, which is sad because everyone needs food that is good for them. But when I go there for fresh produce it is sometimes more than not moldy mixed with ok produce.*edit: since the new owner has taken over produce and it’s freshness have improved greatly!! The neighborhood thanks you!! The products have also greatly improved as well and the staff has remained consistent in their niceness lol :)

The greens taste like they came out of a can and they taste vinegary the cornbread is sweet and mushy the baked macaroni and cheese is spiral noodles do not waste your money or your time going to this place to get any food the staff is rude they dont even say hello they dont say thank you they dont say youre welcome they dont even answer your questions about the food and just act like they didnt hear you this is the worst experience that Ive had you not go there

Lines where extremely long AND SLOW! I’d recommend going somewhere else if u can prices are a little high also got the 2/5 strawberries n one of my crates had 7 bad ones 😩

Very clean atmosphere nice cashiers just ran out of everything I went for the bacon and sausages that was advertised an they didnt have any a lil disappointed they were just stocking shelves at about noon but with the weather I cant be too upset but overall it was nice.

This place was in worse shape but its better. Much needed improvement still though, Meat is overpriced, frozen solid, and some times mysterious looking(#repackaged and old). Wine is overpriced, and the produce is in shambles and expensive. I could understand damaged produced for a cheap price but not for more money. Go in for chips or something but DONT SHOP HERE if your on a budget, looking for sales, or dont have an eye for shopping.

Prices were fine. Place very clean. Very busy not enough check out ppl. Order gravy over pork chops one of the chops were burnt and corn was dry. Dressing was ok. I dont know if I will order hot food again.

I love their soul food deli. The hood still call this place Madison Food that name will never changed no matter who and what brought (own) it.

Staff was very helpful & I seen a lot of old friends that still do there shopping at this location after many years in the community.

Do not buy fresh meat here.. buy frozen products or boxed foods.. breads..but that fresh meat is always bloody and feels slimy..I couldnt rinse the slime off..it was 50$ wasted. awful!

A great grocery store you can find everything you want in this one particular store. The staff is very helpful and their attitudes are very nice.
