This is a decent place to get in the water on the intercoastal side of the island. You got to watch out for shallow spots in the water but other than that its nice the people are extremely helpful.

Now seriously, yer some newbie from the sticks and never fished the island. The owner will sit you down and using decades of knowledge of the island steer you to the right place. Really, this is your first stop if you want a go at shore fishing.

The staff at Galveston Bait & Tackle is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly . Theres absolutely nothing wrong with the ramp and either side may be used to launch. Theyre among the first to get bait in and among the last to sell out. I have no idea what the review before mine was talking about and it sounds like he doesnt either. If your boat gets damaged while waiting to load it on the trailer then the operator failed to take wind/wave direction into consideration while securing the boat, which is boating 101 and entirely his fault. He is obviously a very inexperienced boater that had a bad day and caused some damage to his boat. Giving a poor review must have made him feel better but the rest of the reviews speak for themselves. Best bait/ tackle shop and boat launch in a 20 mile radius.

This ramp is not for the average fisherman. Plus it is so busy everyone cutting each other off. Dangerous. Plus literally 5 minutes after we put live bait in our live wells they all died.

Walk in and th 2 people working (not wearing masks) got onto me for not having a mask on. Will NOT be back to this bait shop...ever. I would suggest the same..very, very rude.

Yes you can get beer, but no you cant get fishing license here.

Easy to get our boat in & out but the live shrimp we bought we awful. We got 2 extra large shrimp and the rest of the container was filled with mini shrimp. Didnt make for very good live bait.

Beat bait shop in the area hands down, always has bait (dead or alive, but more often than not alive) , it is always fresh, the people who run are very friendly and helpful! 10/10 always go here before a good fishing trip!

Friendly place. Live bait has always been a generous scoop, and kept in great condition. Triple boat ramp for a nominal cost. Very conveniently located right off the interstate and a short boat ride to West Bay reefs, offats bayou, galveston channel.

Every time I come here it always looks closed. Gave 3 stars because its probably me thats always there at the wrong times. 😆

Over the years this place has steadily declined. You can only launch from one side of the ramp. When the wind comes out of the south or south east it makes it a challenge to trailer your boat. I got some dock damage to my boat waiting in line to trailer mine.The guy that runs the place is accommodating !! Wont be back. They need major improvements there.

It was great to connect with Savannah, a former student! Everyone there is environmentally aware and willing to support the fishing line recycling program...easy to work with! The sun shines brighter because of how much Savannah and her staff care!

My son and I usually fish with a guide out of Pelican Rest. We decided to get our own boat this year and were a little nervous about taking her out the first time. This place was easy to launch and the people were super friendly. Thanks for the advice. It was cold and windy but we enjoyed ourselves.

Smittys formerly, has a new owner. They shop has been completely renovated, the live bait tanks have been expanded. Employees are courteous and prices are fair! They close at midnight for nighttime fishing peeps!

Great place to get stuff to fish with. Not outrageously priced. Guided boats begins Nd end there. All in all great fishing day, nice people, good place.

The staff was very friendly and quick to help out and get you what you need. Prices were reasonable. They are one of few bait shops that sell live bait (shrimp and minnows). We returned the next day to shop again since we were so pleased with everything.

If you have a boat they will cater to you however if you dont they are horrible to you even if you buy things at their shop u r not welcome to fish on their property even if noone is around you, which means off the rocks, I saw her kick a dad and two kids who where fishing with kiddy poles dad wasnt even fishing, there was just no reason for it we were not near anyone as they have ran down boards with nails sticking out everywhere, we actually cleaned up many cans, bottles, lines that were there, double stay away, plus u can get all of ur tackle needs anywhere else cheaper

Good place for live bait before launching

Usually they have good size shrimp but when I went on Saturday I paid full price for tiny shrimp. :/Ill look next time. The trust is gone. They should not sell tiny shrimp. The fish take them right off the hook.

Didnt go in, just jumped on my guides boat and booked it out to the fishing hole. That being said they seemed to have everything youd expect from a bait stand. Croaker, shrimp, beer, a cleaning table, and a place to take a piss. Nice atmosphere and really good location!

Galveston Bait place , is a very nice place to get baits, i like going there, the employees there is very friendly, if you are a Fishman, go check them out when you need some bait.

Went out fishing with captain Ralph frazier with me and my 2 daughters and we had a blast. The captain was terrific, we caught fish and my kids had a great time. Cant say enough good things about it. We will be looking forward to doing that again.

Galveston Bait and Tackle Rocks!! The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The bait is top notch. Store is fully stocked and everythings fresh. They have it all from sunblock to sunglasses so as soon as you get on Galveston Island you can be on the water in no time. They are your live shrimp hook up! Cant say enough good things. If there were six stars I would give it!

Saltwatersoul sells the brand here. The service is Amazing ! The ramp is easy for Saltwatersoul to launch their boats from there.

No live shrimp

The staff is great. Bait is true. They dont cheat you like they guys down the street with little quarts.They need to stop holding bait for people who show up late. And sometimes dont even show up at all.The dock needs repair...still. and way to many people who dont have much etiquette drop the boats off here.Turn your lights of so the guys backing boats are not blind at night.Three people should be able to park in the ramp but you as always have one guy parking crooked taking up all three spots.If you see someone having trouble please help them.Some kind of line or markers would be nice to help park on the ramp straight. Or even a light aimed at the ramp. Its pretty dark at night

Bait always available. Dock falling apart. If you have a boat longer than 22 feet its hard to launch because people dock behind the ramp. Huge hole in the ramp on the north side. Trailer fell off in it and ruined my fender.
