I love this place, and have been shopping here for upwards of ten years, however I dont think Ill be shopping here as often anymore.I had my first racial profiling experience here after almost eleven years. A short, elderly Caucasian woman with glasses who was working the self checkout lane, made sure to stand directly behind me, limited my ability to move out of her way. She stood in the middle of the aisle directly behind me, watching every move I made, and didnt break eye contact. She made me feel very uncomfortable because I felt like I knew exactly what she was doing...She didnt attend to anyone else and stayed there watching me the whole time I was harmlessly scanning my items like everyone else. When I skipped bagging some juice (which I scanned and selected skip bagging to place back in my cart) I ended my scanning and paid for my items. With authority, she asked if I even scanned the juice (which she saw me scan since she was standing theirs watching intently the whole time...) I kindly told her yes, and began walking out of the store. She made sure to help the young white man, of which her tone completely changed to a friendly and warm voice. She asked if he needed help, and I could tell he wasnt impressed by her from what he saw. He said no and ignored her. Meanwhile Im trying to get out of the lane, which again, she was blocking and she knew I was there. I had to squeeze past her and she didnt want to move as she was still trying to talk to the young man...Id have been profiled some times before, but this was the worst since she was pressuring and trying to establish authority by standing and watching THE ENTIRE TIME, while other people needed help. Im a biracial black and while female who happened to be wearing all black.

Terrible experience they have everything digital sales and they will not honor it unless you go online. Shop assistant very validly stated that 90% of the coupons are on line. Well not being computer savvy I will stay away from Safeway for good!!!

Clean, well organized and affordable prices

Place is always clean and nice the staff are always friendly. There are good prices compared to competitors in the area. The reason I took off a star is because there are no self checkouts sometimes there are only three cashiers and a self checkout section would help the lines get shorter.

Very nice and clean. The deli is very well stocked and Mondays 8pc chicken special $5! Its worth stopping by!

They have the best clearance shelves! Including a freezer! With lots of ice cream, pizza, and other good things!

They are doing updating, thus some items are not in there regular places. However, believe it will look nicer once done.

Not my favorite store to shop but the location is convenient and the staff were friendly. I was able to stock up on essentials with ease. While the competitors prices are lower, they had the items I was seeking - I will return on occasion.

Safeway is the only store that has 1/2 gallon Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Yes - I shop at this store just for the quality ice cream.

This Safeway has been here for a long time. It still manages to look clean and organized inside. The staff are friendly and its not typically too busy. The prices are absolutely ridiculous, bordering on a Wegmans or Whole Foods. Otherwise, its a nice place to shop.

Not as busy as Fallsgrove, but this location doesnt have self-checkouts, so the lines for the checkout lanes get long. Freshly baked breads.Deli staff are disgusting. They dont change gloves after doing things like taking out the trash, and then go about other tasks in the deli, but dont change gloves before slicing meat. They touch every slice of meat from the slicer. They slice the meat into their hands. They touch every slice as it comes off the slicer before putting it on the deli plastic.

Clean and not crowded. Expensive though

I mainly go to his Safeway because I love thier bakery options, but the two lanes they have open but seemingly always closed quick checkout lane, and then the lack of self-checkout is ridiculous. Ridiculous! Why? Why? This is not 2003. The bolillo bread however...is always on point.

Stinks inside. Rude and unhelpful clerks. No one EVER asks if they can help me find anything. One guy just grunted and pointed when I asked. Avoid. Yuck! Outdated rotten produce.

Special ordered a rib roast from the Darnestown Safeway for Christmas Dinner. Marco in the butcher shop area helped me decide on a cut and correct size roast to order. When I returned to the store on the agreed upon time -- the roast was ready and waiting.Cooked it for Christmas Dinner and it was delicious. Have been using the leftovers for the last three dinners at our house -- still delicious no matter how I have prepared it.I sent a lot of leftovers home with my guests for their later enjoyment -- but I didnt share any of the roast -- it was too good for sharing.And, it was on sale!Thanks so much.

Produce and Floral sections carry an extensive selection slightly more expensive, stick with the SALE prices, they can be a great value. Meat and Seafood sections are very well stocked and can contain items priced as Managers Specials which are like getting Gold for the price of Tin. Bakery and Deli are above board unique selection of items from personal care to sodas again SALE prices are your best value, consider joining the Safeway Loyalty program to enhance your benefits. Needs to be noted that what really shines here is Customer Service the friendly & helpful staff and caring knowledgeable management keep me coming back.

This is the worst Safeway in the area. Management and customer service is terrible. Today, it took 15 minutes for the cashier to ring up 5 items. This did not include the time I waited on line. The store is usually dirty or under repair. The meat/seafood counter stinks of rotten food. On this visit, there was a shopping cart with thawing seafood to be put back in the frozen case sitting in an aisle.

Safeway on Darnestown MD is a local grocery store. It has produce, deli, bakery etc. Lots of free parking. It would help if carts were returned to parking lot Caddis.

The Darnestown Safeway now has free WiFi for customers. I noticed it in August 2019. I have used WiFi in another location, but not this one. They have a large produce department that includes refrigerated juices that I like.

Clean and recently renovated store with an average inventory and average pricing for the area. They do have a nice pharmacy and selection of pre-made foods to go. Starbucks located inside.

A major improvement in the last several months under new management! I used to DREAD having to stop there and wait in a long line at the only checkout open. I still wish they would put self checkout in, I prefer that. But I havent had to wait forever like I used to. Bravo!

Really not a great Safeway. Most of the time, only one or two cashiers working and no self checkout; whats up with that in the 21st century? This is the slowest shopping experience in Montgomery County. Its probably faster to drive 2 miles down the street to Giant and use their self checkout. This Safeway also often has moldy produce. Not only that, but be prepared to get ignored at the deli counter.

Low key, friendly, charming. This is the place to go to avoid huge crowds and stock up before snow storms.

I bought some $20 foster grant sunglasses here, 2 pairs to be exact. And the first time around i went to wipe off the lenz the glasses cracked around the frame. So i used the 2nd pair instead Same thing happened, first time trying to wipe tge lens, cracked tge frame. Too bad its been over 30 days now, and i do not have the receipt, was going to return.

The absolute WORST grocery store I have ever been to in my life. EVERY time I have been there arent that many people in the store, but checking out takes 20 minutes minimum. The store deserves to go out of business. AVOID IT if your time is worth anything to you! Only giving one star because I cant give zero.

Great meat but bathrooms are not very clean and there aren’t many cashiers so there’s always long lines but the quality of the meat is better.

Long wait time and very smelly, you can smell swage after heavy rain. Cashiers are polite but are a bit slow. If you are in rush, it is not a speedy checkout store.

This Safeway is chronically understaffed. On a Monday morning, only 1 checkout lane was open. Even worse, this is one of the few Safeways in the area that doesnt have a self-checkout lane.

This particular Safeway is pretty old and in need of remodeling. Through the years, service has also become spotty.

Horrible selection with huge prices. Not a single self checkout, and the cashiers are usually slow. Giant in Kentlands is 10x better

Eh... Just came from here. The milk and cheese were more expensive than Giant. The Haagen Daz ice cream was marginally cheaper. Probably not going here again. It seems like for the most part it was more expensive.

Only store that has no check out and no matter what time of day they only have 2 people on their cash registers! Avoid and go to the giant or go during an odd hour and you could luck out.
