Chuck was absolutely amazing. Really knowledgeable on frames and glasses. Definitely coming back for my next visit in two years when I need another pair. The only thing is thou. I wish they would put the prices on all the frames instead of having to bring them up and scan them. But besides that everything was good.

I bought my glasses at another establishment and they were closed on September 24th, so I went to Pearle Vision hoping that they would be willing to adjust my glasses.Chuck was very helpful and he gave me some tips to help keep my glasses in perfect working order. I highly recommend them!

I am very much impressed by Chuck at the Pearle Vision - Oaks Mall. My mother and I had come twice and he was always so welcoming, helpful and kind. An establishment that actually provides good service and extends sincere help to anyone who comes in the store. I had an appointment for today, the office called me to schedule it weeks ago. Apparently the doctor wasn’t going to be in today, however no one from the office contacted me. When I called 15 minutes before the appointment to state I would be 2 minutes late due to traffic, the gentleman that answered the phone stated “you can come as late as you want we don’t have a doctor” then hung up in my face. I was a patient here for years, however I am now a patient with someone else who truly values their customers. I completely understand that things happen or come up especially given the current climate we are in, however that does NOT excuse the lack of communication.

Ive been a faithful repeat customer of Lens Crafters for over 10 years yet within 20 minutes of my walking in with an updated prescription, they lost my business, due to dishonesty. I walked down to the Pearle Vision store that also located in the mall, and the person there was very helpful. Yes, I did pay more, but wasnt given any flimsy excuses or lied to either. They conducted themselves in a way to show that they truly cared and really wanted me for a customer. I rewarded their efforts by giving them my business. If you want to be treated with dignity and respect, this is the place!

I am very upset with the service I have received from Pearle Vision. I placed my original order at the end of January for 2 pairs of glasseswith frames. I received a call a few weeks later that my glasses were ready. I arrived only one pair was ready and not the progressive ones I wear on a daily basis. I waited again and called them back after a few days. They said glasses were on again. I arrived and the distance vision was non existent. I saw the Dr again and was told I needed a different prescription. Again I waited and came back for the new prescription. Still no distance vision. Long story it is now August and I do not have my glasses that I paid $510.00 for. I returned and asked for a refund. I was told it is not thier policy. Per tjier own website it says if you are unsatisfied within 30 days you can return them for a refund or replacement. Since I never received my glasses this should fall under their refund policy. I would recommend that you go elsewhere for your vision needs.

They need to update their website. I went twice to get my glasses and they were closed. I have to drive 15 miles from home to the store. On the website it’s says that the closed on Tuesday when they are not they closed on Thursday. Then they said that they would open the Saturday before 4th of July went there and they are not open.

I am really annoyed at my experience here. First off, the girls working were very rude to my husband and I when we first went in. Then, while Kelly was entering my frames into the system i asked if I could change the style and she said, I already entered it all in. I would have to start over. So, I felt pressured to keep the frames. I received them two weeks later and when I put them on I had terrible double vision. I purchased a second pair from Kits.com and when they came in, I could see perfectly. I called and set up an appt at PV to meet with Kelly and when she checked them, she had shifted the PD to the left. I asked her if I could just go ahead and refund my glasses and she said Im going to fix this for you.. I pressed her and said I just wanted to return them to which she said, We dont do returns. I then asked about exchanges and she said, If you use insurance, exchanges dont happen because there is nothing to exchange. When I pressed her again she insisted that she could easily fix this. Why did she get it wrong in the first place??! So, I looked online and sure enough there is a 30 day money back guarantee on refunds and exchanges. I just left a message at their store and am expecting a call back. If she does not refund me over the phone, I am going up there and sitting in their store while I call corporate and will not leave until I get a refund.****UPDATE: I just saw the response below because Google notified me that a bunch of people saw my review NOT because anyone called me to tell the refund was approved. Kelly did call me and say they did NOT do refunds BECAUSE they were a franchise. So, if the Dir of Ops reached out to her why did someone not call me back to let me know my refund was approved? This shop is so unprofessional that its not even funny.I went for a contacts exam, and declined to have my eyes dilated. They tried to charge me for it anyway. They told me my copay was $150, and when I told them my insurance covers everything 100%, they told me it wasnt possible and no vision insurance covers eye exams 100%. I asked them for an itemized list of everything I was being charged for. They told me they couldnt give me a physical receipt, but they would email one to me. They never did.A month passes and they never called me to tell me my trial lenses were in, so I went into the store. They told me the lenses hadnt arrived, but I could bring home another set to try in the meantime.A week later they called me to tell me my trials were ready, so I went into the store to pick them up, and they told me I had to put them on and have the doctor examine me. I asked why, when I didnt have to do that last time, and they told me it was because the doctor wanted to see how they fit on me.The doctor did not even look at my eyes, he just asked me how they felt and told me I was good to go.I tried to order lenses through 1800 contacts and the doctor only ended up giving me an eyeglass prescription. 1800 contacts told me it was no problem, that they would contact Pearl Vision for the appropriate prescription info. 1800 contacts ended up canceling my order because Pearle Vision told them I was not their patient??Avoid this place like the PLAGUE. Their staff are rude, their storefront is filthy, they leave strange voice-mails on your phone, and they do not seem to understand how to properly run a medical facility.

Went for an eye exam and purchased glasses. It was all very expensive even thought I had insurance. The glasses never felt right so I barely wore them. Now a year later I went for an eye exam somewhere else and they read these glasses and an older pair I have. The glasses from pearl vision did not correct for astigmatism which I have had for over 10 years. Not sure if the optometrist messed up my prescription or they messed up when making my glasses. Either way I got a pair of glasses that cost several hundred dollars that were no good for my eyes. I also paid far less at a local optometrist without insurance than I did at pearl vision with insurance.

This place is all about the $.My eye test was done in 5 minutes. They tried to sale me glasses for $700. Got them down to $400. Did not end up purchasing. They charged me $85 for trying contacts on. They never had the ones I was prescibed. But they had me to try them anyway. So I at to drive a hour back a few days later. Thinking they had my correct contacts in. Butnthey just handed me a box and told me to go home and try them. I replied... Shouldent I try them on first?. So I went in the back room to try them on. Guess that cost me $85. So with insurance. For my wife and I. Cost $285. For a 10 min test. Will never go back. All about the $

The physicians and staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. Recently, I stopped by to repair/replace my sunglasses. Robert was extremely helpful and courteous! He helped me find similar frames and assisted with my insurance questions. He also repaired my sunglasses while I await insurance coverage on a replacement pair. I am sincerely impressed by their level of service and would highly recommend!

I went to numerous optical offices in the past, but I feel that my experience at Pearle Vision in the Oaks Mall was the best one so far, hands down. From the secretary to the ophthalmologist, everyone was very genuine and sincere. I felt right at home and did not felt rush when choosing my frame. They were very patient and quick to help. Overall, I am overly happy with my experience and cannot recommend them enough! You will not regret going there for your eye care, Dr. Griffin and Matthew are amazing!

There are really two different businesses here: I would recommend Dr. Griffin for an exam. His staff are polite and accomodating and he adjusted my prescription and got me into a better quality (and less expensive!) contact lens. The exam fee was quite reasonable. However, I have had mixed experiences with the Pearle Vision optometry staff (who handle eyeglasses and contact lens ordering) ranging from friendly and helpful to downright rude and awkward. Overall, this place is a decent bet for the money and I keep going back.

I bought glasses 2 years ago, and a protection plan. The lenses started cracking at the attachments to the frame (see images). I got them replaced under the plan, after having to hear: its impossible it happened. Guess what happened after a few weeks? Same cracks. On top of the scratch resistance not being there at all.I have now brand new glasses from Target and will never go to Pearle again. The gentleman at Target told me that the frame I have is known for such issues, in fact, they do not sell it. Pearle insisted that it was impossible. I never dropped the glasses nor abused them.On top of obviously not knowing what they are doing, one lady there was quite rude.

I went to an eye appointment here a few months ago since they took my vision insurance. They did not give me my prescription at the end of my appointment and I had to play phone tag just to get them to send it to me. Later on I needed to access my contact lens prescription as it was also initially not sent to me. I called asking them to email it to me, said they would, but then I never received an email. I waited a few days and still no email. Now I have been tried to call them multiple times and no one will pick up or return my calls even after I left an initial message. Its just very unprofessional to not follow through with something as well as not return a patients call.

This place by far is the biggest scam in the Oak’s mall! Went in for an eye exam and needed new lenses for my very expensive pearl vision frames, and I felt like I was buying a used car from an unscrupulous used car salesman. Tried to use my store credit (from the year before after being forced to purchase contact lenses the year before even though we never found a contact lense that worked for me!) but wow, miraculously, the price of new glass lenses doubled! $299 for lenses PLUS my $200 store credit! Sound reasonable to anyone? $500 for lenses plus $88 exam. What a steal! When I told the car salesman I was sure I could do better elsewhere, the price of the exam then increased to $148! Do yourself a favor and steer far away from these people. Only reason I returned after my last bad experience was the store credit. NO MORE!

I had the best experience at Pearle Vision! From the moment I walked in I was greeted and complimented by a sweet genuine employee. The lady at the frony desk answered all of my many questions regarding insurance in depth and took her time to make sure I completely understood everything. Dr. Griffin is a wonderfully nice guy who genuinely cares about his patients. He made absolute sure to get my new prescription spot on and took his time in doing so. His son (I dont remember his name) was a phenomenal guy as well and made sure my insurance covered everything possible. Diane was blunt, but VERY helpful and was working very hard. I came a couple of months ago for the annual eye exam but they could not find my insurance. I have been with this office for at least the last couple of years, no change in insurance. I changed the doctor only because the office I used for years was relocated. I made an appointment to go back today for the exam. Waited for an hour and the doctor was no where to be seen. I got classes to go too. Everybody has a job, not just doctors. The staff is friendly, but the doctor is something between being weird and arrogrant. The staff at optometry there is somewhat rude and patronizing. The worst experience for eye exams/doctors in my 18 years in Gainesville. Will never go back.

So. After a procedure at the hospital my nurse had these absolutely to die for Tiffany glasses on I was determined to get! She told me she went to Pearl Vision at the Oaks Mall so I just had to go. I went to Pearl Vision to get an eye exam and glasses, Carla was such a professional, sweet, kind hearted and attentive clerk there. I loved the doctor you could tell automatically he too was a kind hearted man, I was very impressed on not only the service but how welcoming everyone there was. They didn’t have the glasses I wanted in stock but they had a gorgeous selection and also told me they have new frames come in weekly, some of the frames were pricey but they were name brand and their fashion design was modern and unique, nothing I’ve seen at any of the other optical salons in Gainesville, Florida. You get what you pay for. I would highly recommend this place, don’t pass up a great experience. Thank you Carla and Robert and the rest of the staff I’ll see you next year!

I have had an awful experience at this store. In summary:1. The management is not able to provide timely and effective costumer support if your needs go beyond the simplest glasses adjustment.2. Any errors that the lab or the store makes have an uncompensated repercussion on the costumer despite his or her lack of fault.3. The store, at least in my experience, is unable to provide glasses without defects in a timely manner.This was my first experience at Pearle Vision and, for the reasons below, will be my last. I do not usually write Google Reviews, but in this instance I would like to advise any prospective client to be very cautious about ordering glasses from this store. Heres what happened.I ordered my glasses from this store a month ago. Due to an unspecified breakage in the lab that was manufacturing the lenses, the glasses arrived about a week late. I noticed a problem in the right lens; even though I insisted that what I was experiencing was a problem with the lens itself, the sales representative kept telling me she could not see anything wrong with it and that it was just due to my eyes adjusting to the new prescription. It turned out that there was, indeed, a problem with the way the lens was manufactured, so a new one needed to be ordered.One week later, I came to the store to pick up the glasses, and I noticed that the right lens was loose and wiggled in the frame. The store was not able to tighten the lens enough (the manager tried to justify this as a common problem with the wire-frame that I ordered; I have worn wire frames my whole life and have never experienced a loose lens) and it could still wiggle in the frame. The store is ordering a new frame, which will arrive in 15 days. So here I am, a month later, still waiting to pick up a pair of glasses free of issues.The way that management dealt with this situation was also unacceptable. Of course, they have a no-exception, no-refund policy (regardless of how much money and time is wasted bringing any defective glasses back to the store) and require a payment upon ordering the glasses, essentially binding the costumer to stick around despite any issues that he or she is likely to encounter. The managements justification for all of the defects with my glasses? Well, sometimes stuff like this happens. It shouldnt, when making glasses is literally your business; and if it does, why is the costumer the one that has to wait and essentially deal with it without a compensation or a sincere apology?Overall, I suggest that if you need a order pair of glasses without defects and in a timely manner, you look for another store. I understand that the lab that manufactured the lenses and the store are both responsible for the problems that I have encountered and that this fault does not entirely rely on the store itself, but that does not change the unacceptable fact that I have not been able to pick up glasses in good conditions from this store despite having paid for them in full.

Husband and I both needed glasses so went to Pearle. Had wonderful experience with Dr Griffin, he was funny and did a careful and thorough exam. Picking out glasses took a while because I couldnt make up my mind but Gretchen was so helpful and knowledgeable it worked out . Picked up our glasses in a week and all was good. The doctor is not rude, as another patient complained. He is a witty guy with a dry sense of humor. He is easily the most comprehensive and thorough eye doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Griffin is superb, as is his staff. The in-house discounts provided when purchasing the truly necessary eye care equipment trumped the groupon ($29 for $229 towards glasses) I had purchased. I am a patient for as long as he continues practicing. The staff is warm, friendly, and professional.

EDITED ON 06/22/2020: I had originally given 1 star. I am now updating to 4 stars. I received a call from the store manager, Kelley, who advised all prior staff has been let go and new staff hired. They heard our complaints and completely “gutted” and redid the store. She wanted to make this situation right. Please take that into consideration when reading myPrior experience. Dr. Griffin is NO LONGER AT PEARLE VISION. Thank God.********************************I am getting married in Feb & I wear glasses normally. I started my journey to becoming a contact wearer at the Pearle Vision Newberry Road location in the Oaks Mall. I set up my initial appointment mid November, thinking this would avoid any last minute rush situations.When I arrived at my appointment the total appointment time took almost 3 hours. That was fine, I expected it to take longer since it was a first appointment. The doctor told me my glasses prescription was completely wrong; this was shocking to me as I felt I could see fine out of them. But, they were a year old so I told him I would wait until after the wedding and come back to get new lenses. He said the contacts I needed would have to be special ordered since they don’t carry what I need in store. He said I had an abnormal prescription and with my astigmatism I really “needed to purchase the daily’s for the health of my eyes”. No problem, I ordered a 3 month amount same day.My contacts were supposed to arrive in 5 days, but I had to call several times and check in because at 2 weeks I had heard nothing. When they came in I couldn’t see out of them at all, I had to pull off the road and take them out. They were no where close to my correct prescription.This happened FIVE MORE TIMES. I would go in, he would change my prescription, order new trials for me to try. I would come in, pick them up, they still would not be right, and I would have to insist for him to check my eyes again. By the fifth time I was COMPLETELY put off and flabbergasted at the situation. I did not understand what was going on?? During this time I insisted on trying a different brand or type but the doctor declined. He said I had to wear the daily’s not the monthly’s (I’m sure now it was because of kick backs for him). At the end of my appointment when he changed my prescription AGAIN he made a comment that if these don’t work I was going to have to pay because I’ve came back so many times. As if it was my fault!?Finally, I gave up. Its 1 month to wedding day and I have to get this figured out. The staff was wonderful and kind when I came in a SIXTH time to have my records printed and to go somewhere else. The poor staff can’t help that they work for a quack eye doctor.I went to a new eye doctor today and the new doctor confirmed a) he prescribed the complete wrong prescription & b) there’s nothing wrong with my glasses prescription. It’s dead on correct. Many new eye doctor also confirmed there was no reason for him to push daily contact lenses except kickback perks. With the shape of my axis, I should have been prescribed monthly’s. My new doctor had me fitted with correct contacts in under an hour.DO NOT GO TO PEARLE VISION NEWBERRY ROAD. YOU WILL BE PUSHED TO PURCHASE ITEMS YOU DO NOT NEED AND YOU WILL BE LIED TO BY THE DOCTOR THERE.

In my experience, this store is unable to provide glasses without any defects if you order anti-scratch+anti-glare+progressive+bifocal lenses. The quality of the glass is poor comparing with its price. I went to this place because it was close to my house, but I made a mistake as I am very unsatisfied with my glasses.I would suggest that if you need to order a pair of glasses without defects, please look for another store. I believe that the manufacturing lab of lenses is not capable of making the right pair of glass if you require all in one lens. When I see through the lens, I feel dark. My anti-glare is not proper, and I cannot use this glass comfortably for my reading and working on the computer with ease. I believe both the store and the lab are responsible for this problem. The glasses cost me extra $100.00 out of my pocket which I wasted.

My wife and I have been going to Pearle Vision in Gainesville for many years and have received generally satisfactory service. Most recently the business was acquired by Dr. Griffin and several of his employees are family members with obviously many years of experience. The service and the knowledge of the staff has take a step up.My wife ordered new glasses a few months ago and Angela was very professional and helpful with a difficult situation. Most recently Matthew replaced the nose pieces on my frame and he was ultra polite, patient, caring and competent. I also noticed those same characteristics as I waited and observed while he helped the previous customer who was an elderly gentleman.

He was extremely knowledgable and talked me through what was going on with my eyes. The staff was great also. They were friendly and helped explain everything to me. If youre in need of a good place to go for your eye exams, you should definitely check this place out!

Customer service are like car salespeople. When you do your job and compare prices they get mad cause it must be cutting into their commission. I highly recommend you go elsewhere. Only issue is that most of the places in the mall are owned by the same company. At least customer service can be better at other places. On top of that one of the managers does not know how to handle a return and treated me like someone thats never purchased anything. Just transferred to another location after getting issue resolved.

My wife Angela when there around 6 times and we paid more than 800.00 dollars and she couldn’t get the right glasses this is the first time happened with us we always used LensCrafters but the oftalmology sent her to this store so we ended up losing 800.00 and returning to LensCrafters because the didn’t return the money and they didn’t change the prescription no mater if we did the prescription at the same store, in LensCrafters return your money if you are not happy with the product.

I went into the Gainesville Pearle Vision Center today for an exam and eyeglass fitting and was blown away with the service. The detail and time the eye doctor took for my exam was shocking, he didnt rush things and double check anything I had a question about. When it came time for finding frames and deciding on the right lenses to match my needs Michael was the best. The service was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. However I was intentionally mislead you on how long your prescription will take to fill. I was told in store it would be some time next week, turns out it took almost 3 and a half weeks to get my glasses. Literally no reason to ever give this business your money, LensCrafters can have your glasses ready same day for the same price, without a Groupon

Very bad service, I came in as a first time contact customer and nothing was explained. The doctor rudely took me out of the room and sent me away because I would not purchase contacts (which are overpriced) at the establishment, but just wanted an exam and prescription for new eye glasses as well.

Ive been in the eyeglass business for about 3 years. So when I moved to Gainesville, I knew that I would have to fend for myself when it came to getting eye exams and glasses. this isnt my first rodeo as Ive had glasses since a teenager. when I made the appointment at pearl vision the front desk attendant was super sweet and answered all my questions. I told them I simply wanted a normal eye exam since its been about a year since my last one. they proceeded to tell me that the service was going to cost me $79... when I arrived It was like all hell broke loose in the store. I find out that they have a new technology to measure eyes so it wont be as bad as the traditional form of tech checkup. what they didnt tell me was that the $79 would turn to $120. although I was livid I didnt let it show. when I met with the doctor I told him that I needed an eye exam, he asked me if I was planning on purchasing glasses and I told him no I was planning on filling my script online, since Ive had previous experience in the optical world I feel that I hold that decent privilege. He rudely said you know Im not going to be responsible if your glasses and prescription come out wrong. at least if you do them here and something goes wrong we can change it that was a red flag. what doctor who has probably done this for 20+ years tell a customer that their prescription might come out wrong. this is 2018 no-one fills glasses the caveman way they use modern machinery to do so, which is why we can have glasses ready in hours time. well anyway, I proceeded to tell him that ill take my chances. he got pissy like a 4 year old and did my exam in the most uncomfortable way possible. but I of course didnt let this get to me due to my previous experience....if youre still reading this is the fun part. exam is over I pay the $120 and then I said you know what let me see what frames they might have here. I saw this really beautiful Kate spade navy blue frame. retailed at $350, this is just the frame...with lenses (single vision) and anti-glare the total came out to 886.00......I found the same frame with lenses and anti-glare at a well accredited online store for $140 can I get an amen!! moral of the story: dont go to these crooks. walk a little more further to the LensCrafters they may be shmucks but at least they use lubricant and talk to you nicely before they rape your out of your money!!

The eye doctor made fun of the glasses I had bc I had purchased them from Walmart. The customer service was awful. When I had went back to get a copy of my prescription, I had asked the associate to explain what the doctor wrote because it looked like scribble, she was really rude to me. I am not going back

This place is a complete ripp off. They mark up the frames almost 300 percent then what an online store will charge you. I payed over 370.00 for frames and basic lenses versus 84.99 from and online vendor. Lenses make me dizzy and sick to my stomach when i wear them so i asked the lady why do they do that, she said thats normal it will go away. Im gonna be going back in to confront them about my lenses. Stay away from this place at all cost. They got me, dont let them get you too!

I bought pescription glasses from Pearle Vision 4 months ago. I paid for EVERYTHING out of pocket and bought a $300 pair of glasses from them. Fast forward to a month ago, I called to schedule an appointment for contacts. They told me it would cost $69 for the fitting and I would be required to buy 2 boxes. They told me because I had bought my glasses from them so recently I woudnt be charged for the eye exam to confirm my perscription hasnt changed. So I booked the appointment, cleared my schedule, took off work and went in today for the appointment --hoping to get contacts for my birthday. Well, apparently according to the receptionist, I was misquoted on the price. It was now $150 IF my perscription has changed (which we wont know until I do my exam). This seems bizarre to me considering that I had been there so recently and I was quoted a very different price over the phone (which is why I booked my appointment here instead of somewhere else). But I understood that mistakes happen. Maybe there is a way to correct it? I thought. I asked if she could talk to the doctor and explain the situation because it doesnt seem fair that I came all the way here having being lied to. I asked if the doctor would be willing to peek at my eyes and see if my prescription had changed to that I would know before hand whether I would be charged those extra $80. The doctor said that he needs to be paid for his time and wouldnt be able to help me... AT ALL! They gave me no solution, didnt honor their price (even though I was a returning customer) and said I wasnt worth his time (even though he gets paid hourly to stand there and not per perscription so he COULD have at least come out to talk to me). But instead I left and went somewhere else. They tried to scam me and did nothing to resolve the mistake that they made. And the kicker is that if I would have come in sooner for the contacts I wouldnt have been charged ANYTHING. Hilarious considering they didnt mention that in my first appointment even though I asked specifically about contacts. All they want at Pearle Vision is to milk cash payers for their money and upsell you on products without even telling you the correct pricing. Not only will I be telling everyone not to go there but they will never receive my business again.

The doctor along with this particular pearle vision is running scams on unsuspecting students. They have mandatory practices I have never seen anywhere else in florida. You have to buy 90 days of contacts to receive your script. Thats right, you pay for the exam but you cant have it till you buy their contacts too. You have to have your eyes dialated and if you choose the no cost route you will have to make a second visit. So pay extra or take another day off. I have never seen this anywhere else. Btw if you give them a good review you get a discount on their marked up products. Nice. And if any teenager mentions consulting their parents, they are reminded that they are adults now and dont need their parents advice, in other words dont call your parents or they will tell you to get the hell out of there.
