Poor customer service and that includes the Manager. Made reservations on line but check in was a nightmare. The system would not download my drivers license from my phone after several attempts. Then it could not be read, but I kept trying over and over again. Finally there were more problems downloading the back of the license as I made several attempts to do that. After 25 minutes of this I was upset and mentioned I felt like complaining about the system. The manager exclaimed It would do no good to complain and then asked Do you want to rent with us or not? .

Not a bad place but paying almost 300 a month not even to have 24 hour access is crazy. I could buy a storage shed for the back yard for less than what we are paying. I know its the area but im from Missouri where we pay 45 a month for a 10×10×10 unit. Florida needs to rethink prices

April, the manager, has helped me three times in the last year with moving and getting a storage unit. I was upset and April was absolutely amazing at calming me personally and professionally on point!! She deserves recognition as an employee that actually goes above the norm!

They moved my prepaid $500 appointment without telling me, then called me a day before when it was supposed to be done to tell me I was late because they moved it, and then they moved it to another weekday when Im unavailable. They refunded me an gave me a credit for the issue but I still had to reschedule with another place and ended up paying more to have it done so I could avoid further issues

This uhaul is absolutely trash. They never answer the phone. The employees don’t know anything.

We rented a tow dolly. Our car did not fit on the dolly. The tires wouldnt clear the strap hooks. Had we been able to clear the strap hooks, the wheel wells were too deep to accommodate the front end air dam of the car. Unfortunately, the shop was closed by the time we gave up on making the tow dolly work, so it was returned the next morning. I explained to the employee what happened and asked for some reduction in the rental since the tow dolly was rated to hold our car and wouldnt. I was told that it should have worked, so no refund was available.

Terrible customer service. Called me a day before my due date to tell me I was late turning my equipment in and I had to send them a copy of my contract to prove I was not late. Also if youre gonna have a sign on the door saying to wear a mask, enforce said rule and not have your own employees wear a mask, its very ridiculous and hypocritical.

Twice Ive had to sit here for over an hour to get a lock off the unit. Once was our fault, Ill accept that. With that being said we bought a lock here to put on our unit and voiced so to an employee. They put on the more secure lock on top of that because apparently its mandatory but couldnt say a word when we wanted the other to avoid sitting here if it happened again. They dont have a master key either. Yay.

Knowingly rented a trailer to me with a giant chunk of tire missing. Called to see if I could swap trailers and was told road side assistance had to help. Said the tire was noted in the rental agreement, that I never got, and was never told about this safety hazard. Rent here at own risk.

Literally the worst company Ive ever encountered. self pickup is a joke. you make a reservation and they tell you its handled, but they dont actually have a truck for you.BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS PLACE

Had two great experiences here. Rep went out of his way for sure. He was trying so hard to get to everyone as fast as he could, multitasking, I had to tell him twice i was in zero hurry and to go ahead and get everyone else first.hard worker and very professional.

Zero Stars!!! Terrible terrible terrible customer service. Customers beware. First off, it would have been nice to know a lock has to be put on your storage unit or it will be re-rented without notice, no call, email, anything! I understand this is most likely written in fine print somewhere, but it takes two seconds to tell a new customer about this policy. So after we paid insurance on a new unit after ours was rented to someone else, a moving truck was parked directly in front of it for two days. When we asked an employee if it could be moved so we could get some stuff into our storage, she told us it was “our fault”. Seriously there is only one person in the office with any kind of people skills (wish we knew his name)....this does not include the ill mannered manager. So frustrating. I will not do business with Uhaul or this company in the future.

Wonderful experience with this U-Haul location! The GM, Ms. April, was very helpful. She had me checked out and the trailer hooked up in less then 15 minutes. I had some problems with returning it at my destination, but i ended up calling Ms. April again and she helped me figure it out. 5/5 all day for amazing customer service !!!

Would 100% recommend this facility, hands down! From the moment I walked in the door, I had great customer service! First I met April, who got my reservation together for the rental trailer that I was using and canceled the other reservations I had somehow accidentally made online (I’ve been shopping around and looking at pricing for the past few months for our military move so I must’ve clicked something I didn’t mean to) and she was so polite and helpful about it despite my mistake. I asked her if I could take a moment to go hook up my trailer lighting to my car-I was running a bit behind due to work and wanted to check in on time, even though my lighting wasn’t hooked up completely yet. She said no problem and gave me some time. I ran to my car and went to plug in the part that I had ordered from Amazon a few days before that was specific to my vehicle, only to find out the part wouldn’t fit. I ran back in and asked if they had any similar wiring I could purchase and (I believe their names were) Collin and Bennie assisted me. Both gentlemen came out to my car and looked at my part I ordered, my lights, and even went to the extent of getting under my vehicle to check that my model of vehicle didn’t already have wiring underneath installed as sometimes they do. Unfortunately it didn’t but they took great care of me-took me back inside and found the wiring that would fit my car and helped me understand the instructions to install it myself. I am not super handy but wanted to do my best to try and learn on my own (stubborn woman here). I tried and I had to swallow my pride and walk in and asked if they had someone who could install it for me. They were slammed with installation appointments but April asked one of the gentlemen to call the auto shop down the road that partners with UHaul to see if he could do us a favor. They contacted him and could get me in that moment. They delayed my pick up for a few hours so I’d have time to get the wiring done and sent me on my way. I returned after a few hours and April got me checked in again, transferred the rental into my husbands name and information for the military discount and to suit the military requirements for a Dity move to get reimbursed. She was very quick and helpful with it all and then she met us by the rental and noticed our ball was too low to the ground and happily took it inside to flip it the proper way around and hooked up the large trailer to our vehicle all on her own and did the wiring and light indicator inspection. Despite being a customer with so many problems due to my own doing, the staff was quick, helpful, polite, and extremely friendly. I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever received such good customer service anywhere before, but my husband and I left there in such a great mood despite the stress of moving and packing up a trailer we had looming over us. I am so grateful for their patience and willingness to work with me and try to identify every possible solution to get me on my way. I would recommend this facility and staff to anybody and will be sure to pass this recommendation on to our fellow military friends who will soon have their own moves to do. Thank you all so much!

Had me drive all over fort Walton to drop a trailer at a different location. when I get back the manager said you could have just left the truck at that place too. it took me an hour and half to turn my rental in and 3 quarters of that time was me driving at their beck and call. also all the 5 good reviews seem to be fake.

April and Bennie turned out to be my guardian angels, assuring me they would get me back on the road and headed home to Birmingham, finding the problem, and fixing the burned diode on my car. Even though they were busy, they treated me like I mattered. My trailer lights were not working, and uhaul roadside assistance sent me to Beal Pkwy after two different technicians they sent could not find or fix the problem. April checked the trailer immediately when I drove up, and Bennie took my car back right away. Words cannot express my gratitude. These folks put their clients first, and it really shows. From now on, I will drive the extra ten minutes to do business with this location.

Terrible.worst experience ever at this place will never do my moving with this uhaul location again.the workers and manager are rude and customer service is terrible.I wouldn’t recommend this location or any location around here I would recommend doing business somewhere else don’t waste your time here.

Took almost an hour to rent a cargo van with no line due to their system being buggy. When I returned the vehicle through their after hours system, it wouldnt accept my card (i tried 3 different cards.) I had already dropped the keys in the return box because i thought I was done. Returned the next day to make sure everything was squared away and found out i got charged an extra $20 for the overnight return without using self return even though it was their systems fault it wouldnt work. Got told for future reference just take the truck home if it doesnt work, with no attempt to remedy my situation. For future reference I will not be using Uhaul.

Half star to be honest. Walked inside no one was there. One worker is sitting outside chatting about driving from New York and kept talking. I asked and he said be with you in a minute. I walk in and then four people come out from the back after asking over and over about 20 minutes.

I want you know about the very poor customer service that I received from the Uhaul Moving and Storage at the 631 N Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL location. Specifically, the manager with red hair and glasses was very abrupt and rude. When I picked up a 9 foot cargo Van, they were busy and did not do a walk around inspection. I used the van for a couple of days and when I turned it back in, she told me there was a scratch under the passenger door handle and an area of red paint. None of the damage was from anything we did. My issue is related to her horrible attitude. She stated the damage was fresh and we are responsible. She said they are very thorough and always do an inspection of the vehicle with the client. She also said pictures were taken when it was last used and there was no damage, yet she would not share those pictures (I don’t believe any pictures were taken). While I was waiting to talk to her, she was talking to another gentleman in the same rotten manner. She has NO customer service skills and she reflects poorly as a representative of your company. She either needs to be retrained on basic customer service etiquette or just fired. I would be most inclined for the latter option , as there are just to many energetic, organized and customer service focused candidates out there that would absolutely run circles around this women.

Took my trailer back 2 days early rented a storage unit at the same time. Now Im getting harassed by Uhaul saying I have not returned the trailer. Everytime I talk to someone they say they fixed the problem. Then I get another call or email.Can never talk to the actual place its someone in a call center.I better go check that my stuff is still in my storage unit!

It definitely wasnt the best experience Ive ever had. I returned the truck 30 minutes early and the representative said Just leave the key on the desk and well take care of it. Ill spare the details, but they didnt enter the truck as returned until the next day and charged me for an additional day. I couldnt reach them by phone for two days and had to resolve it through corporate.They also charged me for gas even though I returned it with a hair more than when I received it, which is probably due to their parking lot being sloped.I would definitely have the person processing the return walk out with you to assess the truck, and not leave until I had the confirmation in hand. Though, Id recommend using the Uhaul on Mary Esther Cut-off.

We went into this location to rent a small truck to transport some stored items. There were customers ahead of us. When we went into the office, no one was available. We could hear several people chatting in the back yet we were ignored for some time. There was a lady in the lobby area waiting and reading a novel. An employee briskly walked through and ignored both the customers ahead of us and us. Not a word. Not I will be with you in a moment... or so sorry I have a bathroom emergency... something... anything. Its an interesting way to run a business. We left and are going to a different location outside Fort Walton. We are consumers. We have choices. Our time is valuable. If Im going to pay several hundred dollars to rent a truck, I am not going to waste my afternoon being ignored like Im invisible. Also, there was a police cruiser in the parking lot blocking customer parking. This place is just a hot mess.

Staff has always been helpful and courteous to me. Ive rented trucks several times and used the storage space. Storage units are fine, but if you have an interior one you have to carry or cart your stuff down the hall and the doors are small. The external non-climate-controlled units have garage-size doors. I also never had a problem with the trucks.

The manager April went above and beyond helping us with our truck and attaching the car trailer for us. Made moving a little bit easier!

I have rented vehicles from this location multiple times and it has been awesome each time thanks in large part to Cheyenne! Shes friendly and efficient! Overall great employee!

Not a good experience. Rented a truck from here. Things went very badly. The president of UHaul ended up refunding our entire trip. The manager of this particular store does not have good people skills. Made for a very hard time for us. Would avoid this place when there are other UHaul stores within miles of this one.

A rip off. Beware, their pickup trucks have something wrong in the electric. They tried to charge us for 2000.miles,and we only had the pickup for 24 hrs. Plus they tried to tell us that it was a $1000.deposit because it was out of state plates. Had to call corporate office. Will not under any circumstances rent from them and I recommend no one else does either.

Showed up here at 9 on a Sunday to pick up a moving van. On the door it said they were supposed to be open. Nobody showed up at all. Store was closed. A dozen people were standing outside waiting.

Went to get a new hitch installed. They asked if I would like the old one in the back of my truck. The answer was YES!! It was not there upon arrival home. Went back to get it and was told an employee took it to a salvage yard. Love it when you get ripped off after spending money with people!! Use somewhere else for any moving needs. The Owner hung up on me and refused to allow me to prove her wrong. She knows I said YES!!

The U-Haul administrator waited until it was too late to warn about further employee schedules, so I lost the hitch installation & could not relocate that day nor sign the housing contract with my new landlord as planned.I trusted what was told 4 days ago that this hitch will arrive in time at the place by Thursday pm to Friday am.I waited these days and passed Thursday evening to verify that the hitch had arrived, ( to avoid bad surprises ). I was told that night by the polite employees that in fact, the hitch was there and to return at 8 am next day as scheduled. So I did.Today was that day and I was on my way earlier at 7 am, but at midway, I was called at 7:20 am to not come because the hitch hasnt arrived yet...Of course I was disapointed but I understand human error, so I went & ate something but finished my trip to U-Haul anyways to verify that everything was ok, ( so I didnt have to go somewhere else far that morning to get a hitch installed @ last minute ). That was the moment when I saw the manager & I was reassured later by her that the item in question will be at the place by 12:30 and to return around that time for the installation.Is true that she sent an employee to Pensacola to get the item but it is also true that I was never 100% reassured that at 12:30 sharp the hitch will be there and less to be there at that exact time or I will loose the installation work until Monday. Well, thats exactly what happened, I was waiting x their call to pass that the hitch was finally there, but instead I had a call at 1:08 & 1:09 notifying that the installation job was lost until Monday.I might have been there at 12:30 but because they had failed several times in the past, I decided to wait for the reasurrance call that they finally got the item this time & that I was ok to arrive.Because of these 3 faults, but most of all for the blatant denial of the administrator in accepting the fact that she did not warm me to be there sharp or else i could loose the work until monday, and worst of all, implying I am lying, I am placing a negative review of the place.They can simply communicate clear to avoid misunderstandings specially in stressful situations linked with relocations.

Service is not getting any better!!I called for an estimate to get a hitch and wiring harness put on. The email I received for the quote did not include the wiring harness so I called and told them to be sure to do that. I was told a note would be made. It was to take 1 1/2 hours to install hitch and wiring harness. The day of the appointment it took them 21/2 hours for a 11/2 hour installation and they still didnt include the wiring harness! UNBELIEVABLE. Good luck to anyone who reads this and goes there anyway.

From personal experience do not trust U haul trailers I set up a reservation to get the one that had brakes they did not tell me with change that the medium size didnt have brakes so with the lack of communication and the lack of information on uhal I was in a serious car accident where the Uhaul pushed my Infiniti and created us to flip trying to move from Fort Walton Beach Florida to Mesa Arizona when on I-10 going from Mississippi to Louisiana bridge at this point in trying to find a lawyer to fight them but havent found any luck due to the fact that this case is hard to prove that its their fault I will tell you it is because if they educated me and told me that you have to stop different because its going to affect your brakes or it can put you on a bridge and make the stopping harder where youre going to get in the car accident they dont explain any of that and then they blamed it all on me because I didnt pay the $70 for the insurance for the U-Haul they didnt even offer me a free second Uhaul so they were telling me it was $500 for a whole new one to get my stuff the rest of the way to Arizona from Louisiana so I ended up losing all my stuff on top of the car because of the freaking U-Haul so no do not trust them

This place is an absolute joke do not ever go there for propane or anything. The Manager is hands down the most rude woman I have ever met and knows nothing but in her words she is certified by the state of Tallahassee three times she said that. That was more than enough to let me know that it was pointless to try and get anything done right there.

This U-Haul rating for this store should really be 0 stars. I was told from this store that my truck was at 191 Eglin Parkway but my truck was NEVER delivered even after I was told that morning that it would be. I had to call this store and they transferred me to NEW YORK. Also the lady at the front desk was RUDE. It was raining outside when I returned and no one came out to assist me so I went inside and then someone went outside and I was told to go back out in the rain with him to give him the keys. I obviously said I would like to stay inside and out of the rain. She then told me to read the sign and I said no, I’m frustrated with you all at this point and she didn’t say anything back. Pathetic.

Reservation was changed with out anyone calling me. This cost us money and time with our business. To make matters worse my employees were treated terrible by an employee named April who told them are phone call was not important. Plenty of other places in town to take our money.

Id have to say, I agree with most of these reviews. Very much a you need it, we know it, so theres no need for pleasantriesHad a hitch + wiring installed on my Ford Escape a couple years ago... shorted out a month later and of course, no warranty available. Hitch was good, aside form the ugly UHAUL sticker giving them some free advertisement...Despite my last experience, went back to having wiring installed on my Jeep and rent a motorcycle trailer... still very much to the point-give-us-business-or-get-out.Useful place, but takes awhile for service and dont expect a friendly attitude.

Remember to return retal at the time your contract said. you paid full day retal. but you said need it for 5 hours. you will paid full rate for another day, if you returned after the hours specified in your contract in the same day.

They over charged me, didnt have the courtesy of refunding the overdraft fee acquired on my bank account from them overcharging me. They said I drove an extensive amount of miles which I didnt believe to be correct figuring I was in a 2 mile radius the whole time, charged me for that. If you want hidden fees, this is the place to go. The manager eventually refunded me for the day that they overcharged me but I am so disappointed in their service. Thank you.

Staff was busy flirting with eachother and giggling so my $12.10 transaction took about 7 mins to complete. Left there pretty irritated. Otherwise, Im glad they are open later than other locations

This Company sold us a used truck- and did not disclose it had a blown engine. Furthermore - I can not get a return call if my life depended on it.... even the most vicious private seller would have disclosed this type of defect.

I didn’t have a problem with the customer service. However, when I returned the truck they tried to charge me for 47 miles. I set the odometer to zero before I pulled out of the driveway and I used mapquest for exact mileage before I even rented. Mapquest had my mileage at 26.4 miles and the odometer in the truck had mileage at 27. Where they got 47 miles is beyond me. They checked the log of when the truck came in and said that everything was correct. I know where I live and I know without a doubt it, it’s not 24 miles from Uhaul to Valparaiso! They ended up only charging me for 35 miles, but that’s still more than I drove. I can’t imagine how much money they make off of charging extra mileage to people!!!

Made an appointment for last Friday to get a light tow package. took off work, arranged someone to pick me up, showed up and they said my appt was on Saturday at 11. I never discussed Saturday with the person on the phone as I had something to do that day. Very non apologetic, seemed to place the blame on me for the mixup. unfortunately, there was nothing to be done since the guy had already gone home. rescheduled the appointment today (had to have it, picking a camper up on Thursday). I had printed my appointment confirmation and brought in showing that indeed I had been scheduled for Friday at 3. The desk person said, couldnt have been at 3, he goes home at 3. I pointed again to the paper that showed a 3:00 appointment. she looked in the system and said that the MANAGER of the store was the one who changed my appontment day/time! I said shouldnt they call you if they change it? she said yes. No apology, no acknowledgment of any issue on their part. I didnt have anyone to pick me up today, so I sat there and listened while no fewer than 3 customer service issues were dealt with. The staff is obviously immune to any complaints. I wont ever go back to this site.

Horrible reservations and customer service. Called to get a tow hitch installed twice and they just moved my appt after its confirmed twice: Drive a hour to show up to my appt., aggrange a ride, and then they tell me your appt has been moved to tomorrow we dont have anyone here to install it. I never received a call even after the they said they called me in the notes. Clearly I wouldnt of drove a hour to come to my confirmed appointment if I received a call. They didnt offer any discount or a apology.

Went into this Uhaul location very frustrated after going through a call service twice ( no help) , was immediately greeted with a smile by a young lady named Cheyenne ! Cheyenne solved all of my issues and the manager April stepped in as well and apologized for having so many issues with the call center rep ! Just wanna say thank you to the awesome staff at this location.

Benny was professional and disclosed everything I needed to know about my truck specs before adding charges. Already have in mind for them to do my wifes Honda CRV and fix my daughters wiring on her CRV. Thanks

The customer service is pretty awful and the storage building is in rough shape. The parking is a mess and its challenging to get in and out. The price is just not worth what you get here.

Ive used these folks many times over the years, and previously encountered some somewhat grumpy service as well as personalities akin to a wooden Indian ! However, I was there in May of 2016 and the people were fantastic and there was NO POSSIBLE WAY to get me in and out any faster nor could they be any nicer ! I highly recommend...

Had my reservation ready but was told the keys were locked in the vehicle and it would take 2 hours to get pop a lock to open the vehicle, then once I agreed to wait her story changed to something else that didnt even make sense and basically my availability went from 9am to 4pm. There were 2 10ft trucks sitting outside not doing anything the whole time. Bottom line is that I wouldve only had the vehicle for 4 hours, she couldve rented it TWICE in that time frame. Ended up using a different local company. Very rookie staff, others in line were complaining as well.

Ive been helping my brother and mother move this year, so I have been up to the U-Haul about 5 different times. Each time I have to stand in line for about 1/2 hour while sales person talks on the phone to someone ordering a truck.

I reserved a truck a month in advance and the corporate manager called an hour before my pickup and said they didnt my truck. Very bad way to run a business

Expect to spend at least 20 mins here whether its buying a box or renting a truck or trailer...always something going on here.

I called for a reservation on 12/11/17 and was told I could pay cash only to be told when I went to pick it up was I told about a $60 deposit.
