This is my favorite store of all time. I was visiting from Salem because Im going to UO in the fall, and Im so glad I did! I was attracted by the plants in the window, but once you go inside, they have everything from teas, incense, Japanese dishes, rugs, pots and pans, adorable stuffed animals, and nice bath things, like soaps, lotions, and so much more. I ended up buying the two noodle bowls that are pictured. $15 for the box :)

Best garden store with the best fertilizers and problem solving. I have only had one moment of discomfort in the, approximately, decade that I have been coming to this store. I left a review and Down to Earth responded immediately. Last week, I went in to find that the offending employee was no longer there. Down to Earth has great products and great staff. I admire their ability to stick to their values in such a tumultuous time.

Management/owner needs to train staff in basic customer service skills. Smiles are a good place to start.Door banged the back of my foot on my way in. I cried out but employee could not be bothered to look up from her book. Check out counter woman officiously counted my boyfriend’s stuff like at 60+ years old he is gonna be stealing 5 bare root asparagus 😂 whereas minutes before we had walked out with a pot in hand to look at plants before we paid up. I would like it better if someone paid attention so these young folks get better job training. I can always go online to shop and not be treated rudely.

We talked a few minutes and I told her she made my day! When it was time to pay I was unable to get my boxes in and the cashier checked me out and even put it in the van for me.This is the reason I always shop here, it’s always a nice experience.

Would’ve LOVED to support local business. Unfortunately we left feeling disgusted with this place. The man outside the door was rude and lacked personal skills. Instead of asking us to wait to go inside, he put his hand up at us like we were beneath him. He told me to pull up my mask, as I’m standing over 10 feet away from him OUTSIDE. All the fear pushing leaves a bad taste in my mouth! Their discriminatory practices will prevent me from spending another $1 there!I was refused entry because my mask wasnt to their rediculous standards! When I didnt comply they threatened to call LAW enforcement..well funny thing is mask wearing isnt a LAW! Considering N95 masks are the only ones preventing the spread of COVID...all other masks are not helping..so to have someone posted out front to choose whos good enough to enter and whos been shunned isnt professional buisness practices..

Wanted to shop local and support local business. Unfortunately, we were not greeted properly. The guy that was working one of the doors was rude and wanted to know the exact reason why we were shopping and had no personal skills. He sounded irritated that we were trying to shop there because he was so concerned with COVID. We had our mask ready to wear and happily shop and he was rude. No reason to act the way he did. They will never get our hard earned money with how they treated us. Bad business. It’s sad when you are having such a good day and it ruined by someone with a terrible attitude.

Rude and aggressive mask policing.Mask requirements are reasonable, but this store has their employees stalking their customers, rudely interrupting them to nitpick, belittle and demean them. They will approach you to inspect your mask to make sure it is above the bridge of your nose and secure on the sides of your cheeks.Shop here if you dont mind being treated like a child or forced into submission by an authoritarian micro-state. These people are tyrannical and it is unhealthy. My guess is the owner is a tin pot dictator using Covid as an excuse.Aside from the mask policing, be prepared to be marched through store check points by staff barking commands through hand radios. If you enter one section of the store, you cannot return to the section you have just left.Overall I was very insulted and disgusted. Way over the top.

I want to preface this review by telling folks that Im an avid shopper here, I have recommend the store to my friends, and I have literally spent thousands over the years on plants, soil, tools, compost bins, and gifts. I am a multiracial person, and generally have not experienced much discrimination in local stores. The incident I am about to describe has happen to me numerous times, all in the same section of the store.Multiple times when Ive gone into the indoor plant section of this store I am basically snubbed by the older white woman who works in this section. I wouldnt consider it being ignored, except she greets and asks literally EVERY other customer in the section if they want or need help, only to look at me and then walk away. I understand that her prejudice is her own and not a reflection of the store, but I can say that when I go in to purchase a couple large plants or trees, soil, and new pots for the large trees, her rudeness is the reason why Down to Earth is then losing a couple hundred dollars. Many people of color and young people deal with being treated like this in situations where staff is making the assumption we dont have money or wont purchase anything, but youre guaranteeing that we arent spending money in your store by acting this way. Plus, regardless of what we are spending or what we look like you should give the same service to everyone. Anyways, Im sure this person doesnt even notice her own behavior but its disappointing to walk in expecting to make a big purchase and to leave feeling like I am not a valued customer.I still bought a couple plants but will spend my money at nurseries where I am treated with respect and given the same service as other customers. Although I usually get better service (which is unexpected) than other customers elsewhere because most staff seem to remember that I love to spend money on dirt and plants. :P Honestly I would give a lower rating but there is some excellent staff in the other sections of the store.

One of my favorite places to stop on every trip into the Northwest, sometimes change my route just to go there. This is a place that combines a fine kitchen store, gift boutique, garden/nursery and a feed store. They carry wool and decorative socks, garden hats, books, cards, toys and yard tools. Bird houses, hand built garden work stations, and tons of great kitchen ware. Fiesta dishes, utensils, sushi plates, kettles, towels and mats. Live plants and pottery too.So, so much more. Their prices are quite reasonable and the quality is great of their brands.I have always had excellent customer service, greeted with a friendly hello and offers to assist.Convenient parking in their lot. Tyrannical owner, management and staff acting as medical police despite a complete lack of medical comprehension. Speaking as a dental professional, your mask becomes bio-waste after only 30 minutes. Covering your oxygen receptors with bacteria traps not only dehumanizes but creates staph and strep infections leading to gum disease and lung infections while cross-contaminating everything you touch. Mandates are guidelines, and guidelines are not laws. Governors cannot make laws. All places of business open to the public are public spaces, that is law. Harassing disabled and elderly despite exemptions is illegal. Exemptions are not required as we are protected under Constitutional and Civil Rights laws. Compliance is the only thing keeping this farce alive. Do not kneel to tyranny. Please think, throw away your tell-lie-visions and do your own research.
