I absolutely LOVE this place! I go there every time Im in Eugene. I believe it could be the best vegan food in Oregon! And I live in Portland and there is a ton of vegan options here. But The Cornbread Cafe has that real good home cooking comfort food you remember from back in the days when you ate whatever your heart desired. Now you can again! And it is delicious! Everything I have ordered has been absolutely the best so I dont have any specific favorites. Id just say try whatever. And it will be good! Ill be back soon guys!
This is a great little hole in the wall vegan comfort food restaurant. They have vegan fried chicken, fried tofu, mashed and wedged potatoes, stewed greens, vegan mac n cheese, as well as wraps and several other items. Their namesake cornbread comes in plain, jalapeno, and gluten-free. The price is very reasonable and the food is well prepared, tasty and of good portion sizes. Being comfort food, its not low-fat, but there are options here that are not fried. We enjoyed everything we ordered and would definitely be coming back for more!

Everything was phenomenal. Most authentic vegan southern food ive tried. My family is from Alabama so Im picky about my southern food but they did it perfectly here. I recommend trying everything hahaha the mains are fantastic, and you can choose your own sides. We got fried chickn, mac n cheese, cole slaw , cornbread, jalapeno cornbread a hush puppies, biscuits n gravy!! They even have proper sweet tea. Next time Id love to try their kale, or would love to see collard greens on this menu!

Soooo darn good. Love the staff here especially. They are great and really care. My fav is thr seitan steaks with Jojos and Hush puppies. The Kale is baller too.
Fabulous vegan comfort food. All vegan menu. Maybe the best food in Eugene, hands down. Cant wait to go back. Make sure to try the Mac and cheese and any cake they have. And definitely the Cornbread. Dining is outside right now due to covid.
The cornbread, ribs, hush puppies & greens were delish. The yams were very bland, I gave them to my dog. My kid liked the chikn tenders and greens. So kind of them to include a free ice cream coupon for our next visit to town. My co-parent enjoyed his Eugenwich and asked that I leave a 5 star review. We will definitely be back for this vegan comfort food.
The Eugenwich was really good. But the Mac and cheese wasnt that great in my opinion and the fries were so incredibly salty.If I ever come back to town I feel like Id try another vegan restaurant out instead of coming back here.
Chloe at the front counter was super kind and gave me wonderful customer service. I stopped in today on my way to work and the location is wonderful and the vibes are awesome. Keep making delicious food and keep on being the awesome people you are ❤️
How is the Cornbread cafe always out of chilli when Ive gone there. Is that not a signature dish? Not a fan and not pleased. Youre welcome to go there and enjoy their delicious food but I cannot seem to connect with the operational order of things here.
Best vegan place in Eugene by far! Dank food all around! They even have a cover and and several picnic tables outside of their restaurant for eating out of the rain which is Awesome. Would recommend getting several peices of cornbread because it will be the best corn bread youll ever have in your life.
Vegan meets real southern cooking. Im a carnivore and I loved it. The cornbread with maple butter was delicious and the hush puppies are better than any North Carolinian version.

Amazing hush puppies! Sadly thats the only reason for the high review. I ordered within a minute after a friend and ordered the exact same meal as him. His order was brought out in 30 minutes whereas mine took an hour and I had to go inside to check on the order!!! The hush puppies were delayed because the batter ran out, so they said they would bring some out to me in 8 minutes. After waiting an additional 30 minutes, I finally went inside to ask for a refund. They gave me both the hush puppies as well as the refund for the hush puppies, but by this point I had been there for an hour and a half with a friend who was done eating after 30 minutes.
Love this place. The food is amazing and the service/ambience has always been great too. They had an amazing second location in Springfield, but it closed due to COVID, sadly. I hope it can come back someday. I highly recommend their biscuits and cashew gravy, but everything Ive had there is delicious. Ive taken carnivores there too, and they loved it as well.
Came here after being referred by a fellow vegan and seeing the clip on triple d. The food was delicious and we ordered a few different things to try out different entrees. The chicken and waffles was delicious and the cashew gravy was as good as any non vegan gravy Ive had. The Reuben was amazing, and in my opinion the best thing we ordered. The fish and chips was ok, our kids enjoyed it but thePhish was a little heavy on the seaweed flavor for my taste. I would give five stars for the food and subtract a star for cleanliness and a star for service. The bathroom was dirty and in need of cleaning, the menus felt grimy and one was placed on our table dripping wet. The service was pretty slow, waters were not refilled, and some of our finished and dirty dishes were not removed from the table, even when our dessert was served. It was fairly busy and it seemed understaffed, which in all likelihood contributed to the lackluster housekeeping and service. Overall, I was impressed by the delicious vegan food and I definitely want to return to try some more offerings.
This place is amazing. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere (even the bathrooms are cute), and the food is unbelievable. If you need some comfort food or something with a little more soul, head on over, vegan or not. Even people not into vegan food should have a real hard time being disappointed. I lived in the south for over 4 years, and this stuff is as good as anything I ever ate there, with the bonus of being healthier and cruelty free.
Not only was it amazing vegan food, but possibly the best burger Ive had, period. Our group together had the bacon ranch with mac-uncheese, the Eugenian with potatoes and gravy, and the southern Sammy with hush puppies. Everything was out of this world. We ordered it to go and it was ready right on time. This is all from someone who is not a vegan, and only transitioning to vegetarian currently. Best sandwich in town, hands down.
The food has good flavor. Its hardly world class and nothing really stands out, but its great having an all vegan spot in Eugene. Its pricey though and I dont think the food quality matches the price.

Delightful food. The reason I stop in Eugene when I drive by.As of June 2021 theres ~5 covered tables outside you can eat at. It might be hard to get a seat unless youre eating at on off time of day.
I stopped here from the Redwood Forest on my way back to Seattle. It’s the most-rated vegan restaurant in Eugene, and it’s obvious why! I’ve never really been a fan of Southern cuisine, but food this good changes my mind about it. I had the Southern Fried Tofu with a side of steamed kale, mac un-cheese, and a biscuit, plus agave vegan butter and Cajun dipping sauce. I hope to come back one day and try more things!

I tried to go there with a friend of mine but we both just stood inside and waited and waited for someone to help us/seat us/direct us in any sort of way. I even made eye contact with one of the servers and they did absolute nothing to acknowledge my presence as a customer. The same server walked past me twice without greeting me. My friend and I left after standing there for 10 minutes waiting to be helped. (And they were not busy at all - in fact there were two servers just horsing around together behind the counter).
Very good food and large portions. I got the tofu and sides. Will go back and get some more.

I wish they had one in Portland. The food tastes great too! Totally recommend this place!!I didn’t give it a 5 star rating because what I wanted most was the macaroni and uncheese but for some reason it just didn’t taste right. Server was great, offered another but I declined and chose something else. I also recommend the cheesecake. So yummy!
My husband and I are always skeptical of vegan and vegetarian quinine that markets itself to the general public but this place was widely reviewed as one of the best places in Eugune so we clearly had to try it! We were definitely not disappointed! It was so interesting and like nothing Ive ever had before! I highly recommend if you are wanting somthing new yet familiar and very very good!
I think about the Cornbread Cafe’s food regularly. so heckin’ delicious. Whenever I road trip from Ca to Wa I always make sure to stop here. I wish I lived in Eugene just so I could support their business!!
This is the best vegan / WFPB place around the Eugene metro, if not in the entire state.Their corn bread is always good, but when it is fresh it is delightful and delicious as any you’ve ever had—actually better.I wish they had sorbet or non-dairy Dole Whip on the menu and their prices don’t reflect the lack of meat in their dishes, but it’s hard to keep a gem like this open so I gladly oblige. It’s not expensive, but it’s not a food truck either.Check out their Springfield location, too. I like the inside of that one even better!
Went on a Sunday---didnt realize only serve breakfast on Sunday, but we got the chikn and waffles and French toast. I had the French toast with blueberries and it was ok but unremarkable... it didnt have much flavor to me. The waffles looked much better. House coffee was also okay tasting.Overall not bad, well come here again but Ill be getting something other than the French toast next time.

Visiting from California, I was excited to try this vegan restaurant. The couple in front of me had a very nice person take their order and give them their food. I got “Mr. Personality.” He was rude, obnoxious, condescending, and either unwilling or unable to answer any questions about the menu. I told him I didn’t appreciate his bad attitude.As I waited for my order to be filled, the couple approached me and said they had a similar experience in the past—so apparently it’s just not me.The only reason I gave it one star is because the food was so good. If not, it would have been a zero. Shameful...
I pass through Eugene at least once a month for work and ALWAYS make sure I swing into Cornbread Cafe. Even if I’m in a hurry, I get it to-go. This place is pretty much all the foods I grew up eating in the south, except it’s vegan! Really reminds me of home.I also recently took a couple non-veg coworkers here and they loved it! They were telling everyone about it the next day.
I absolutely loved the cashew gravy!! Thats exactly why I went and it didnt disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly and even the other patrons went out of their way to speak to me. This may be one the best experiences Ive had in a restaurant. I came in close to closing time and wasnt rushed. You would have thought it was 2pm.I was impressed with the variety of foods the menu boasted. The preparation was precisely as described and the waitress was so patient, prompt and polite. I am currently here for work and I will definitely return!! You will never regret visiting here :-)If you want great food and large portions served by smiling faces, this is the place for you!!

This is one of Eugenes best restaurants, vegan food aside. Friends and family who have visited have told me they craved Cornbread Cafe after they got back home.
We stop here every time we come near town, even if it means driving out of the way. Totally worth it every time. I highly recommend the Buffalo Hot Things as a starter and you cant go wrong with the Eugenewich. Dont forget to try the cornbread!The desert case is always full of something new and delicious. Just recently tried the banana and walnut cake and, let me tell you, I think it was my favorite dessert from here to date. I wish I had gotten a picture of it!Aside from the delicious food, the atmosphere in this place is absolutely adorable and welcoming. I love finding a little vegan café while we are on the road. As much as I love being able to find a vegan option in any restaurant, this café just has that local feel and home-cooked goodness that I crave while traveling and its ALL vegan! Highly recommended!

The Cornbread Cafe is one of those unassuming places that you know are a big deal once you enter.The waitress was a friendly woman who was happy to explain the menu for us, since we have never been there before. All staff seemed to be comfortable and relaxed, which made the atmosphere a place that made you feel like you were at home.Something that tickled me pink and made me instantly love this place was their restrooms. The signs for them said Anyone instead of announcing a gender or marking it for all genders. The inside of the bathroom door was covered with that chalkboard paint and a tin of chalk was attached to the wall. You could leave a message of your choice! I really like this idea.The food was spectacular. I had doubts about vegan alternatives to chicken fried steak, meatloaf, and fried fish but was pleasantly surprised to find that it tasted EXACTLY like what it was imitating.Next time Im down in Eugene or Springfield for any reason, I will definitely be bee-lining it to the Cornbread Cafe for some good ol Vegan Comfort Food.

Had the bbq seitan, it was great! Slaw is the best, fries are super crispy delicious fruit crisp awesome. Looking forward to eating there next time Im in Eugene.
Had to knock a star off because they were out of rye bread for the Reuben. Other than that, very good. Love the fact they dont put ice in the water. Too many people mention the crowds. Go a little earlier. I picked my own seat, service was quick and efficient and no crowds. Definitely will be back next time Im in Eugene.

I ordered the French dip with Oh Ju sauce. It was delicious. My girlfriend got the Eugenewich - Southern fried tofuOn a fresh roll. We both got a side of fries that came to our car hot and fresh, delicious! They dont have dine in as they are too small. You place your order in advance or when you get there and wait in your vehicle. They bring it to you quickly and I highly recommend the corn bread cafe! We came to Eugene while on vacation (from Oklahoma) just to eat at the Cornbread Cafe. We were not disappointed! The food was awesome, the location was neat, and the service was great. And staff super friendly. Everyhting was great and I love it!! Highly recommend.
Excellent options. Reasonably priced for a dinner. Very comfortable diner. Service was excellent. They were slammed because of a concert happening that night so speed was slow but they were aware and brought some of their delicious cornbread to thank us for our patience. Partner had seitan steak, I had the buffalo tofu. Very tasty. Drinks were a bit spendy but not outrageous.
Cornbread cafe is a place you never want to leave. Ive been here 3 times now and had the pleasure of dining in before covid hit when their retro ambiance diner made you feel like you were walking into a diner from the 50s (only plant based)! Theyve done a great job offering pickup and adjusting their menu to a simplified version of popular items.
I have and will continue to drive four hours or more to get this food! When I lived in Mt. Shasta California, I would come get their food and drive back. Now only a few hours away I continue to make this day trip. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

This place is just amazing. You can really tell they put a lot of thought and care into each item and all vegan! Their ranch and agave Dijon is to die for! I would totally recommend, youre definitely getting a great bang for your buck!
My mother in law and I are disabled and drove two hours to go to the dmv. To say the least we were drained of life after the experience. We searched Google for food nearby and considering the fact that I am vegan, we chose the Cornbread Cafe.I dont write reviews for restaurants but I had to for this oasis. We ordered in excess to try almost everything and Oh Boy!You better believe everything we tasted made us excited and and gave us that Mmm factor. Small, very casual location that was packed with people at 2:30 on a Friday. All plant-based menu with lots of dinner options. The Cheesy Jalapeno Hush Puppies were delicious (although the remoulade sauce they came with was quite salty), their famous burger with Souther-Fried Tofu was delicious, as was their Peanut Butter Crisp Cake. Basically tasted like a candy bar. Jalapeño cornbread was a definite win. Savory and slightly sweet, with a hint of spice -- I wanted a whole pan of it.My only pass item was the Mac Uncheese. It was fine, but neither noochy, tangy, or faux cheesy. Not bad, but I wouldnt make it the first item you introduce a non-veg to. In a menu of so many winners, I would look at other items.Food was so good I am planning return just two days later to try more. A no brainier for vegans and vegetarians, and I am sure non-veg friends would find plenty to enjoy.

Where do I start!? We were seated immediately, our waitress was extremely kind and answered all our questions. My wife and I both got drinks which were very flavorful and then our food came! This is the first vegan comfort food restaurant we had been to and it lived up to all expectation. The food was delicious! Check this place out. They also have great music and gluten free beer among other things.
We were passing through Eugene on a road trip, knew we would only get to eat here once, so we went with the sample platter to try as many items as possible. Highly recommended. The rest of the large menu looks delicious too, who knew it was possible?! Seitan steak and mac n cheese were my favourite parts of the platter. Also chose fries and gravy, and kombucha & iced tea for drinks. Everything was SO GOOD. The service was friendly, helpful and upbeat. The restrooms are gender neutral. Their cake cabinet looked amazing. They were also donating a % of the takings to an LGBT+ charity the day we were there. Everything about the place was brilliant. Thanks for making our flying visit to Eugene a good one, folks!
I personally think this is one of the most Eugene restaurants. I have been coming here for the past 6-7 years now. The selection is great, and everyone I have brought here loves it, weather or not they are vegetarian/vegan.My personal go to is the Eugenewich, Mac Uncheese, and obviously some cornbread.

One of the top best vegan restaurants in Eugene hands down. My family came here on our trip all the way from mount shasta for the first time. This place is amazing for vegans and people who love southern food. The service was very kind and the prices are amazing. The menu is so diverse and authentic to southern/soul food, it was hard to decide what to get because everything is so delicious! This is definitely now one of my go-to vegan spots when i come to this area
Great vegan food. Great food period. Southern style. We had cajun fried tofu, chikn fried tempeh, yams, kale, hush puppies and some good corn bread. Wish they had one of these in Beaverton. Definitely eating here any time we pass through Eugene. Only gripe was closed on Tuesdays.
This place is delicious. I just made the decision to go vegan. In my search to find restaurants that serve vegan food eugene does not have many of them which is very surprising. Im so happy i found this place though. You guys regardless if your vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore you need to try this place at least once. Its the yummy yum in your tummy. Seriously, my BF does not do anything vegan and he enjoyed the bite he took of my food. You will not regret trying, plus youll be supporting a local business.
