11-2020 I purchased an 89 Toyota Land Cruiser from private party in Encinitas Ca. The owner and I agreed Encinitas Foreign and Domestic (the shop) would represent their work by providing details of the mechanical history and condition of the vehicle. The shop agreed to answer specific questions with a provided Excel sheet listing questions specific to its history and mechanical status. Upon the completion of the report I asked the shop manager to sign the report validating the work and the inspection which was done and have on file. I flew to San Diego and took delivery. On the drive back to Texas I broke down several times with overheating, environmental and emissions problems. I had to have repairs made in New Mexico and approximately 10 shop visit in my home town to resolve the problems not revealed to me. I have numerous emails, invoices and documentation correlating my repairs directly back to their failure to maintain the vehicle. Ive spent approximately $15,000 direct and indirect cost.

After two recommendations here I finally stopped in and I couldnt be happier. Parts came in early, rental car was inexpensive, and when I had other issues with my vehicle they offered expedient work at a discount for a return customer. 10/10 best mechanic experience Ive in over a decade.

Down home, trustworthy, high quality, expert car care:Our elderly Audi A3 (with an ever more rare manual transmission) had a mystery warning light come on. It defeated all tests and resets. The Audi dealer projected thousands of dollars in cost to search. Carlos at EFDAR pursued the problem one (low cost) step at a time -- called with each result and laid out options for next steps. They found the problem and fixed it. Our car runs better than ever -- and its cleaner than ever to top it off.

This shop has a many new faces working here! Most of the people that used to work here have left since the new management has taken over. I have been a customer for 5 to 6 years and I am now deciding not to come back after one of my cars died from lack of antifreeze but had no leak. So what that means to me is that my regular shop never checked any fluids almost the whole time Ive gone there. THIS CARS ENGINE IS NOW BLOWN UP AND ONLY 80,000 MILES. This car was seen by them for regular maintenance for many years and they never checked my fluids! My brakes on my other car were 1mm away from needing rotors, and I think that my shop should have warned me ahead of time. I have had my brake lights go on and off for years and paid $384 a piece for each tail light and there are four on the car. Replacing them at this shop under their recommendation did not fix anything, so the I found an electrical expert and he charged $100 to fix the problem. I feel as if this shop wanted my cars to fail so that they could have major repairs done on my car that were 100% preventable. I will never be coming back after realizing this. It is a shops responsibility to always check our fluids and brakes. We hire these shops because the average person is not knowledgeable of these things. Encinitas foreign is only there to repair. They do not care about the well being of your car.I learned recently that it has been the same owner for years but an employee told me that it was under new ownership to get out of fixing a broken hood piece, when I came back to have them replace a hood part that was previously broken by a body mechanic that was not their employee but provided by them.

Okay people, listen up! Got car troubles?? If you are like me, I hate having car problems, especially when you have an older vehicle. I love my car and have found a place that I trust, is fair and AAA approved. From the moment you walk-in, youre greeted promptly, provided sufficient time to describe the issue and more importantly, listened to. Who knows your car better than you do, right? My car is 15 years old, 176k miles, unexpectedly the check engine light came on, never a good thing. I hated the thought of losing my reliable, even worse, a car payment!! I received an estimate to diagnose and drove off in a rental car. Jim, made sure I was kept in the loop on progress and final diagnosis. Im happy to report that the issue was repaired and tested, saving me time and $$$. Got a AAA discount, and my car looked amazing when I picked it up. For me, the true test of an auto repair shop is how they treat a woman who comes in needing service. Its very easy to bluff a little, tell a few half-truths, and generally get away with a $1000 charge for a glorified oil change.The folks at Encinitas Foreign treat women as intelligent humans. I have never seen them take advantage of anyone, ever.These guys have earned our trust with their service, pricing and honesty. They are very up front, very open and frank with everyone. Not to mention very friendly!On top of that, the coffee is good and the place is powered entirely by solar power!Highly recommended.

This is the most honest place I have done business with in regards to servicing my car. I thought I needed new brakes. Tried to make an appointment for s simple check-up on my 79 VW Camper which just recently was completely restored (ground-up) original, and in perfect condition. Was told that they could not guarantee when a technician would look at my car and that I should be prepared to leave it there for days (would not specify how many days). Inasmuch as I appreciate their honesty, I would NOT recommend them to anyone.

Years ago I took my van in for a brake and lamp inspection. Needed this inspection to register the van. They told me my rear drum brakes were oily and missing hardware. Gave me an estimate to fix it. I told them no I will do it myself. They even told me to sign that I was declining the work.Took the van home took off the brake drums and lo and behold no oil no missing parts just dusty. Called them the next day and they said the inspector must have replaced the missing parts and clean up the oil. BS. So while I had the brake drum off I put new shoes on and made another appointment. This time I watched as the inspector inspected from the alley and what do you know I passed. This is my experience here. I would be very cautious with any repairs, and any upselling. I’m lucky that I do most of my car repairs. Most people can’t and have to believe what the repair people tell them.Be careful and get second opinions.

Cant say good enough things about the service here!I have a 1972 240Z and a 1996 Jeep as well as a Saturn Hybrid.The repairs, and in some cases improvements, have been excellent and thorough. Its a pleasure working with mechanics who pay attention to detail and help prevent future issues from arising. Highly recommended!

Called and was able to get our 06 Audi in for oil change and AAA 40 point check on the same day. We had just purchased the vehicle so I was interested in getting an objective check-up. The shop staff appeared to be knowledgeable about Audi, and knew details about my particular model off the top of their heads. Cost of service was reasonable and the quotation for minor ticky-tack repairs was thorough.

I tend to dread going to the auto mechanic ... I drive a BMW, so repairs tend to be quite costly. But aside from the money aspect, I always feel vulnerable since I am a single female. I often cant help but wonder how honest the shop is ... do I REALLY need the full ~$900+ tune up, or can I get by with just changing out the plugs for now? Things like that. My friend referred to me Encinitas Foreign & Domestic and I couldnt have been more thrilled with my experience! Everyone was so kind and helpful. We have been customers of EFADAR with all our vehicles for years now. It just all works. Making an appointment is easy and they will actually have you on the books and will do the work as promised. We never get pressured to have more done than we came for and when something does come up, it is all well explained and we trust that it is really necessary if they say so. All work we had done there has been good and we never had to return to have something fixed again or corrected. They have a shuttle service and are within walking distance to the Coaster station so it is easy for us to drop the car of in the morning and pick it up after work. We will definitely be back because we trust EFADAR.

I brought a car here for a inspection today. Car was running perfect when it went in. Came out running horrible. There was no acceleration and the car was smoking. I asked them what they did to my car and asked them to fix it. They told me to put in a complaint with the bureau of auto repair and to take the car to a different shop or at least off the property. Now im stuck in a legal battle. My car had to be towed wich came out of my pocket and is now sitting on the street and i am stuck with no transpertaion due to this incedent.

Always professional, courteous, trustworthy and a pleasure to deal with.
