Please read this before you place any similar order. I really liked a pair of skis online which I could order and have them shipped to my home. But I went to this Summit Sports location because a) I thought it could be faster b) I liked to make some contribution to my local stores just as the matter of a support. The salesman was happy to take the order and I was told the order is going to be available at the store in two weeks. He took my contact info so they keep me updated. I was happy too, because I really needed those skis because of our March adventures. Before I leave the store I went back again to double check everything.After two weeks I called to see if the order has arrived and they said they are receiving some gears today and they will call back once they get the them. They NEVER called. (So far no update whatsoever from this store)The day after I go to the store to check the status, the salesman look up my info, goes back and force on his computer, goes to the backroom to talk to his manager and comes back saying the skis were never available. When I ask how it is possible, I am told But this is the reality. I waited two weeks, cancelled my trips waiting for my gears and now no skis. More painfully, they are even sold out in these two weeks!! I really wanted to support my local businesses. I will not ever return to that store nor any Summit Sports.

Went in after getting recommended by a friend. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Lars helped me out with boot fitting and ski sizing. They helped me pick out the perfect ski and boots for my skill level, the type of skiing I would be doing, and the experience was just overall smooth and easy. Ended up buying skis, bindings, boots, socks, and insoles for my boots. Ask for Lars or Alex if you end up going in. They’ll help you with anything you’re looking for.

Not usually one to leave reviews. Summit was excellent recently though and I have been coming here for the past 3 years. Came in for a new boot fitting and a ski tune up. Alex was awesome with the boot fit and tune up was a quick turn around. Will continue coming back here for any of my shop needs. Thanks guys!

I called the store asking about Thule - Compass Kayak Carrier and was told previous to placing my order that the order was going to be shipped from the manufacturer and asked specifically if they knew it would be on the shipment on the April 13th date that is estimated. I called today to follow up to make sure that it was going to be shipped on time and was told that the shipment, despite me specifically asking if it would be shipped near the estimated ship time, would not be shipped to me on May 30, 2021, a full month and a half later than I was told. I will never shop from this place again as they changed the date and didnt even have the courtesy to call and let me know I wouldnt be receiving my item for a month and a half later.

They never answer the phone! I just want to know if they have products in store that are on the website, and all I get is forwarded to a mailbox. I’ve been to this location before and had plenty of nice experiences, but whenever I have questions about products that I want to know over the phone before driving 40 minutes and wasting my time, I can NEVER get through to anyone.

Would recommend Summit sports to any level of skier, snowboarder, or outdoors lover! The staff was very knowledgeable about various products and pointed me in the right direction! Cole set me up with a pair of Elan Ripsticks. Though hesitant at first, these have been the best skis for my style that I’ve ever skied on! Thanks Summit sports and thank you Cole!

50/50 at this store. Brought in two snowboards(a brand new board to be waxed and and an older board for a wax/sharpen) dropped off on Friday and was told to come back the following Thursday. When I came back in on Thursday the gentleman took 15-20 mins looking for my boards. After waiting he comes back and tells me that they were not even started yet, so he had to quickly whip them out. I would have been happy to come back the next day to give them time to do a good job! 15 mins for 2 snowboards, you can imagine what you get.

Bought some skiis for my mom and they got delayed twice, understandable, then they shipped it to the wrong location for pick up. Still all good, they give me better skiis for the same price, but they didnt tell me they were system skiis and forget to give me the bindings that come with them. The manager is good about it, so I go back to look at skiis for my kid to get fitted and I am ignored for 30 min and when I ask to get help am rudely told that someone will be with me in a minute. However, I have watched an employee sit scrolling on his phone the whole time I have been waiting clearly not working. Their service is either pretty good, or down right horrible depending on what teenage employee you get.

This review is a 1 star cause I cant give 0 stars or I would.My husband and I went to this shop 3 times everytime being told we will get the ski in a couple week come back then as the store had nothing. Finally when we stopped in Alex was nice sized my child and said he could order the ski as the store still had nothing this was Nov 1. We paid for the skis,bidding and boots, we were told that the skis would arrive Nov 13th from the warehouse and then a week for pick up. So pick date is Nov 20th we never received a call that our skis were ready we trying calling finally Nov 27 we reach Alex once again they have no clue were are skis are or anything about our order. We were told they will call us back never did we had to call back they stated the warehouse didnt ship them and now they cant get them. Why did it take us calling them. The moment that my order was not going to come in they should have called us. We stop in Nov 28, they tell us they can order new should be here Thursday. Thats what you said Nov 1 when we originally ordered. We said forgot give us our money back. This was suppose to be a Christmas present. I ask how long til my money is returned to me, Im told a week. A week you took my money Nov 1 when I placed the order you fail to get the product and I have to wait another week. Now I have to find my child another pair of skis by Christmas because there consumer service is horrible and they dont care your just a number I will never return.

I want to start this review off on two notes. First being I am not a review leaving person, good or bad. Second being the only reason for the 3 stars is because of Parker. He’s great, otherwise this would have been a 1 star review due to the assistant manager Nick.1-star portion – Nick. Nick is the horrible gift that keeps on giving. I will say my interaction started a week ago so this is not an emotional response, I wanted to let that settle before saying anything. I am also only saying anything because the other employees unfortunately have to deal with the ramifications of their experience with Nick. My husband and I went in for bindings that we found online. Out of the two options Nick was quick to tell us the one pair was in the warehouse. End of discussion on that option (even though my understanding was that things could be quickly delivered from the warehouse). The other option they had in stock but not in the color I wanted. We were left wondering if we could even get them or not. We then asked if he could mount the boards for us. We were told yes but we wouldn’t get them back for a week or so, which wasn’t plausible for us. He then told us it’s something we can do ourselves and that it only takes 4 seconds. So my question here is if it “only takes 4 seconds” and we were the only ones in the store why it could not be done by him? We were handed the boxes of bindings and left to ourselves. We were so annoyed that we spent 10 minutes looking everywhere and anywhere else we could possible find different bindings but because of our time constraints that is the only reason we went forward with buying them. I finally chalked up enough courage (I say this because bothering him seemed like it would be a nightmare) to ask him if I could order the white bindings. I was told they weren’t online. I literally had to say “sooooooooo what does that mean?” the response was “I can check the warehouse” (my previous premonition of asking him questions was in fact a nightmare). I wrote down my information on a post-it and was told they’d be there by Tuesday and if they weren’t there by Thursday to call. We left knowing that they were not going to be there Tuesday and of course they weren’t so I called Wednesday night. Cue Parker and all of his wonderfulness!Parker asked if I had gotten a call from Nick as the warehouse was actually out. No shock there. And also no shock that I did not get a call from Nick. Parker did some searching and found them at a different store and was getting them for me ASAP. I also mentioned that Nick wouldn’t mount the bindings for us. Parker told me to bring the board in and he would do it for us. While on the phone with Parker we also realized that Nick didn’t order the right bindings anyway and that the store had the ones I wanted the whole time. Needless to say IF I ever return and that’s a big IF I will only work with anyone but Nick.

I called before Labor day to find out about ordering an Old Town youth kayak. The employee said he would call Old Town and see if they had it available and call me back. By the Thursday after Labor day, Summit Sports had not called me back. So I called and got Nick to whom I explained all the info to again. He said that he would call Old Town and call me back. Guess what? Its a week and a half later, he never called back.He also claimed that shipping of this $400 youth kayak might be $200!!! It explains right on Old Towns website that it is $50 to ship to a dealer (which I believe Summit Sports is) and $100 to ship to your home, so in my opinion that is completely incorrect or Summit Sports is just marking it up??? I thought Id save the $50 and have Summit Sports order it, but what a hassle to work with them. I felt like I was begging for them to order this boat and get information!So, I just ordered through Old Towns website, it was so easy.......kayak came motor freight and driver was so easy to deal with! I highly recommend skipping dealing with Summit Sports altogether and ordering straight from the manufacturer!We wont be dealing with Summit Sports again for any of our future needs. And I find it very interesting that the owner wont respond to my review.

I went into the store to get some snowboard gear before my trip out west. I was immediately helped by Lars even with a busy store. He fit me for boots and went above beyond to make sure I was prepared for this trip. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable! I definitely recommend you check them out.

Friendly staff that went out of their way to help me get my skis together before I went up north and out west. Stopped in the store in a hurry to have bindings put on because I moved out of state and don’t have a reputable ski shop nearby anymore. The entire staff was helpful and Jeff volunteered to slap them on with a one day turn around. Glad to have ski techs who go out of their way and would recommend Summit to anyone looking for a ski shop in mid-Michigan.

Always been a huge fan of this place and have spent a lot of money here. Drove 25 minutes here today and arrived over 10 minutes before posted closing time and doors were locked with open sign still on. I called and was told they counted their drawers early and sorry about our luck.

Purchased a rather expensive tent, on sale, and was sold eithout poles. The Manager I spike with several times was helpful until the very end. I neber heard backfrom him or anyone else solving this still. No call back. No poles. Nothing.

So its been over 20 years since I purchased any snow gear or skis. I stopped in and was helped by Alex, who was amazing. The kid knew his stuff. Having been out of the loop for so long, I didnt know anything about any additional perks to skis, poles, etc. and his knowledge was greatly purchased. I am very much looking forward to trying all the new gear out next month when I head up to Boyne for an extended weekend of skiing. Thanks for everything Alex!

Great service, prices and selection with friendly knowledgeable service!! If you are looking for skis and want to by equipment that works, listen to their recommendations!! If you are trying to buy ski boots, and its busy, ask when the best time to come back is. Its true for any decent ski shop and you wont be disappointed here.

We took the family in today to be fitted for skis/boots, as we are thinking of purchasing in the future. We had Mike (I think) help us. He was so knowledgeable, and helpful. He explained everything to us, was awesome with our kids. We will definitely be back when we are ready to purchase!

Just got my board waxed and the amount of wax scapings on the binding side of my board is insane. I got alot of attitude from the guy at the counter. Think his name was Nick. Im really disappointed as I have been a long time customer and sad to have this experience. I live in Battle Creek and still drive all the way up to this place as it used to be amazing.Also asked about advice on boots and just gave very short answers. Didnt even recommend anything. Just said my boots were to basic. Its unfortunate but I will not be coming back here again.

Could I give a zero star rating? Requested specific ski boots at Summit Sports in East Lansing. Salesperson said they were not in stock but would be in the store two days later. When I showed up to try the new boots, the manager (N. Goldberg) said the truck was diverted and my requested boot was not available. He then tried to sell me another boot (his choice). I refused but agreed to purchase a boot which I thought would work. When I got home, I found the boot didn’t fit properly so went back to switch it out. Was told by the manager that my requested boot was not available and I could not return the mis-fitting boot - even though the receipt stated a 30 day return policy. Then he said I needed a $10 plastic wedge in order for the boots to fit properly. The guy was so smug, condescending, and a total jerk. I will NEVER re-revisit the store.

Looks at first glance like s place with lots of good deals and massive rebates. Maybe if you are shopping for snow-gear in the middle of summer. My shirt from a rack with other advertised stuff would have had a regular, ridiculous price. No rebate. Sneaky! Thanks, but no thanks. The close Moosejaw in East Lansing is the far better option for outdoor gear.

Great shop for kayaks and equipment, knowledgeable staff. When I purchased a new kayak, they also recommended that I purchase a safety whistle, they showed me how to attach it to my kayak PFD, and today it kept me from getting run over on the lake by a distracted boater. Boy was it loud and caught his attention right away. Thank you Summit for keeping safety a priority. Good job!

We purchased kayaks here last year and the several sales people that waited on us were very friendly and super knowledgable. Because of our great experience we came back in the winter for all our snow toys. The best thing we like about this place was their honesty. If they didnt have an answer to our question they didnt just guess or bs their way through it. Thats hard to find these days.
