This place is seriously the best. I was visiting East Lansing to tour campus prior to attending MSU in the Fall. After walking through campus I realized I definitely need a bike. The bike shop was right across from my hotel and I figured I might as well check it out. Nikki not only gave us a lot of info about all of the different bikes but was also very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! I ended up finding a very nice bike. They certainly don’t cut corners at this place. Nikki made sure that we had everything we needed. Very happy with my visit!

Got a beautiful used bike here! The staff rocks, plus they are open all weekend long, which really helps for us folk that work Monday through Friday. Big props!

Brought my bike in for a tune up and some cable clean up. Bike is dialed. Shifts smooth. Brakes nice and tight. These guys have my business!

They are the exact opposite of a corporate franchise. Local guys who love bikes dealing with the specifics of your problem or needs. I always go in with something unusual, and that only makes them happy, because it means they can learn something. Very reasonably priced and very unpretentious. Its sort of like being in a small town with nothing between you and the business to interfere with getting your work done.

Found the part I needed at a good price. The staff was friendly and helpful. Bicycle parking was available but poor.

Great vibe! You walk in and the owner is working on a bike on the stand! An adorable dog with a killer name that I cant recall lays in a chair by the door. He doesnt say boo! Having window shopped the evening before, I has my eye on a bike I wanted to try. No pushy salesman here. Casual atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

Emily was very helpful and low pressure about explaining what was needed for repair and maintenance and suggested some very handy accessories. Great experience. Highly recommend.

I am beyond impressed with the service I received from this great bike repair shop. Trek was a funny guy and Dan was a skilled professional when it comes to repairs. Dan really put in a lot of time an effort to ensure my bike was perfect. I am very satisfied with the results of my bike repair. They fixed my breaks, and fixed up my back wheel. It was in rough shape coming in, but now she rides like new. I would defintely recommend this place. They have great prices and even better people!

With all the problems I was having with my bike, Trek was more than amazing when I came in to get it fixed. The second I walked into the shop and explained my problems, he instantly began looking over my bike and got to work to fix all my problems. Not only that, but the shop understands that being a college student and struggling to find spare money for inconveniences like this is hard, so they did their best to accommodate for me like offering to transport my bike back to a department store when I was considering returning it. Everyone in the store is super friendly, helpful and honest. They always give the best advice and tell you which option is the most cost efficient & nothing is better than having a helpful and honest business. Trek is awesome and Andrew is a huge help too :) love this place!!

Wow. Great service. My bike is looking better and working better than it did when I bought it. I love the atmosphere, and the rates are fair. If you ask me, its worth every penny. I recommend this place to anyone who wants their bike taken care of. Great advice, too.

What a fantastic experience! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Gave me some great advice on how to extend the longevity of my bike. Didnt pressure me to make a sale. Proved to me that I didnt need to change my rim in order to use an indoor trainer (unlike another local bike shop). Bike tune-up was priced reasonably, job was completed very fast, and the work was perfect! My bike hasnt operated this smoothly in years! Theyve earned my repeat business. Will be back to buy both the trainer and a pair of new tires from them once I save up the cash. :)

Not awful, but not great either. Ive had a fair amount of service here because it is closest to where I live. But, they compensate on know how with niceness.Edit/Reply: Sure. Two issues Ive had. 1. I have tried to come in a few times (during listed open hours) and found the store to be closed. This is very inconvenient. While I understand that you caution that the hours are flexible, it would be far better if you posted when the store is closed online. 2. I got my bike seat tightened, and it ended up almost entirely loosened. While when I came back it was subsequently fixed (with a new part), this was quite inconvenient as well.Again, all of the service has been nice, but these issues have made the bike shop my non-preferred bike shop.

Ive been going to The Bike Shop since it opened last year. I can honestly say that this is definitely my most favorite shop in the Lansing area. Trek basically runs a one-man shop, but he still gets the orders and repairs done in a quick time. He also makes small repairs for you right on the spot and has you in and out of his shop and riding again in a matter of minutes. Did I mention that his prices are very reasonable, especially compared to the larger shops in the area. Anyway, youll catch me at the Bike Shop if my bike ever needs any repairs.

I spoke with trek. I had purchased a mountain bike off eBay. I took it to him to have it checked over. I cant fully describe how knowledgeable and helpful he was! Great experience. I will go there any time I need service, and recommend as many people as I can to do the same.

Moved our son in today and realized that we needed an Allen Wrench. Stopped in The Bike Shop and Trek saved the day by lending us some extra wrenches that he had and one was the perfect fit! This is the way all places should be run. Next time we have any needs for our son’s bike - we will definitely be visiting Trek and the Bike Shop.

The Bike Shop is the place to go when you want the job done right AND you want to be treated with respect. Highly knowledgeable about every piece of mechanics that goes into the bike, as well as the various different options to choose from that fits your needs, and Trek (the owner) is one cool cat. Hes down to earth, and genuinely cares about the people who walks through the door.

I called this shop 15 min after close because I needed a repair before class the next day. The guy offered to have it done that night, and ended staying open an hour later. I cant express my gratitude enough. Its not very often you get service like that, especially from the we-dont-offer-any-warranties-on-our-repairs pricks at the on-campus bike store. I had to go there for a simple tire repair for my sons bike and not only did they repair it on the spot but showed me how to do it if I need to in the future. Super quality and great service! Its really close to MSU, located one block off from Grand River, right on the street level of the colorful parking ramp! Try it, youll love it!

Took my bike in for an inspection, and after as good look over it was declared in good condition. Aired up the tires and oiled the chain and sent me on my way free of charge. Quick, professional, and didnt try to upsell me products I didnt need. If I ever TRULY need repairs, Ill come here.

Trek, yes like the compay and also his name, is awesome. He has the best bedside manner and the fastest repairs around (Ive checked too). He also sets tight prices so you can get the best deal possible and will always be honest and let ya know whats up, so if you actually need something or not.Oh, and whats better than buying local?

This place is great. Owner came out as I approached, helped me with my bike and immediatly started giving the bike a full inspection. He quickly found the problem but that didnt stop him from checking every piece of it to make sure it was perfectly sound when it left his shop.

Needed a bike for college, the staff here were more than happy to tell me about their selection and offer a free warranty to me for 30 days. Great place to buy a bike or get one fixed!

Trek the shop owner is a really chill guy and will help you to the best of his ability. Unlike my experiences at MSU bikes and Velocipede he does not make you feel dumb when you have a question or advice on your bike. Its a new store at the hamster cage that everyone in EL should take the time to check out! Happy riding

This is my favorite bike shop. Trek and Dan are always helpful and friendly. I stopped by many times with questions about turning my road bike into a single speed. I also wanted to switch out the super wide bars with drop bars. They ordered me bars, but they ended up not working with my bike and let me return them even though they had specially ordered them for me. I really appreciated this! They were honest, and we came to the conclusion that transforming my bike to a single speed would just be more money than it was worth the effort. Ended up buying a single speed PureFix from them that I had been eyeing for a while as I was coming in with questions about my bike. Even got a cash discount! This is my go-to bike shop in East Lansing, and I always recommend it to my friends.

Stopped by because of a typical flat tire. Andrew was very professional and got it fixed in 15 minutes. No hassle. Will definitely come back if there is any problems with my bike.

I walked in after my back tire went flat and the rubber began to fall off; 10 minutes later I walked out with it fixed. The shop is beautiful on the inside, and I was amazed at how little it cost. I know this is starting to sound like one of those fake reviews that owners write for their own shops, but just by glancing at some of the others I found that this is normal - everyone rates them 5 stars. Honestly, its frustrating I cant give 6.

Dan is a great bike mechanic - with lots of attention to detail - and I like that he clearly loves bikes. Also, they often can get you in quicker than some of the other shops around town, and they charge more than fair rates for the work.

I want to share my experiences with The Bike Shop across 4 bikes. First ride was a GT BMX Trek hooked up. When I needed to upgrade to something for riding to, from, and around MSU Trek took care of me again with a GT grade alloy. I rode it HARD, too hard. Blew out numerous racks and 2 rear derailleurs. Regardless, they were there to take care of me each time. When I was gifted a rare vintage Japanese road bike Dan helped me restore it. My most recent ride is a custom randonneuse. Parts from obscure & niche companies were sourced to build me the ride I wanted. Trek and Dan are encyclopedias of bicycle knowledge/skills. With every bike they listened to my needs, did their homework, educated me, and nailed it with pricing/service. Andrew is on point too, even fixes mopeds in his spare time. Big thanks to Trek for sourcing a Mission Workshop bag and the 3 hours Dan spent fitting my French fenders. Can’t thank these guys enough for keeping me rolling, 365 days a year.

I cant say enough great things about The Bike Shop. I purchased a new bike online and needed a professional to assemble it within a very short amount of time. Prior to calling TBS, I had called other more well-known local bicycle businesses who pretty much laughed at me when I said I would like to have it assembled within 3 days because they had so many work orders ahead of mine. The young man who assembled my bike was EXTREMELY friendly and even though it was over a holiday weekend, he said he would do his best to finish my bike in time for me to take it with me on my trip up north. He ended up completing my bike earlier than I had hoped! And he charged me a very fair price for the labor. He even gave me a lesson on how to use the special features of my bike and helped me load it into my car. I HIGHLY recommend The Bike Shop and will be giving them my business from now on!

I recently dug an old bike out of my parents shed. It had been sitting there for years gathering dust throughout Michigan winters and summers. The tires were flat, the brakes were shaky, and shifting gears sounded pretty rough. I took it into The Bike Shop and asked to get the bike in good riding condition. Rather than upsell me, the owner was honest about the essentials that needed to be tuned-up. He could have easily tried to sell me more expensive parts or pushed unnecessary repairs, but he didnt. I got exactly what I wanted for the lowest possible price, and my old bike came back looking and riding like brand new.

I purchased a pair of two used left pedals from this shop by mistake. I do not know much about bikes, or pedals to be specific, so I installed them and ended up trashing my right crank arm. When I told The Bike Shop about it, they took my bike, replaced the crank arms and even gave me a new pair of pedals, all for no charge. They went completely above and beyond to fix their (partial) mistake, which speaks wonders about any store. I recommend these guys because if they make a mistake (even if its not entirely their fault, like in my case) they will stand by their service and products. The staff is also very friendly.

Trek does awesome work, I have an old junky bicycle (that I love) and Trek has helped keep it from being a complete death trap. Definitely the best shop in the Lansing area.

Great shop!.....Im new to bike riding and the people there were really helpful in getting the parts I wanted and doing the repairs. Very reasonable prices and the shipping to get the parts in were much faster than I expected.

Ive worked with Dan on several bikes over the last few years, and hes always been a great help. Hes very knowledgeable, and hes able to diagnose problems quickly. I have used this shop since it was located on Albert Ave., but the new M.A.C. Ave. location is even better. Ive had spokes replaced, brake system adjustments, pedal replacements, and a bunch of other stuff done here---and their prices are pretty competitive.As an MSU student, I recommend this bike shop to all others. Dan and Trek have always started working on my bike same-day, and I dont think Ive ever waited more than 48 hours for a completed job.The shops hours are a little wonky, but thats simply them trying to be open when people would use them the most.I cannot say enough nice things about this bike shop; other than the official MSU bike store, this is the most convenient one to get to, and they have a lot more tools to get more advanced work done (for example, the MSU bike shop cannot use drills of any kind, due to it being a fire hazard...).

The bike shop is awesome! They have everything you need and more!! And if they dont have it theyll order it! If you every need work done on your bike the bike shop is the place to be!
