Carolina Smoke and Guns have provided my family with ease of transfer for firearms purchases. Very convenient and professional service. Highly recommended for firearms transfer.

Shawn is an easy to deal with, no-nonesense guy. Communicative and answers questions clearly. Hes processed a few transfers for me without issue. Reasonable rates, definitely one of the cheapest in the area. For the folks rating 1-star because hes not a full service brick and mortar gun store OR complaining about his hours...both of those facts are readily evident by simply looking at info on Google or anywhere else. Yes, evenings arent a convenient time for some people, in which case dont use him. For anyone else (those who have the ability to read clearly posted hours) hes very solid. I personally prefer going through smaller/home FFLs and hes a good one. Would use again for future transfers without hesitation.

Have known & dealt with the owners for quite some time. Not just some business that wants your money. A business that will quickly become your friends.

NOT A GUN SHOPCalled 3 times in one evening, no answer. I was on that side of town though and prefer working with small businesses so I wanted to stop in to buy a few things. Turns out THIS IS NOT A GUN SHOP. It is the owners house. Im sure he helps someone out and does some FFL work out of his garage, but advertising your business on Google as a gun shop with an address and a phone you dont answer is pretty inconsiderate. Never thought I needed to check street view for visiting a place. Please listen to the suggestion of others on here and rove your address and advertise yourself as you are: an FFL dealer, not a gun shop.

About this business ,the owner running it as a side job .is no right for me to criticize how he wanted to run his business. About all the bad reviews on this site.I personally experienced a little bit of everything.no doubt all good reviews here is treated differently by the owner. Conclusion my opinion. good or bad experience with this business is depend what kind of values you bought in to this business .Good luck whoever you want to dealing with you have the right

Today was my first time doing business with C.S.G. The only thing I didnt like was waiting a week to get my merchandise, but that was due to my schedule not linking up with C.S.G hours of operation. So it was cool, I got over it. Other than that, there were no other issues/concerns to report regarding my experience with C.S.G. :) Thumbs up!!

Very pleasant experience. Shawn responded to my emails pretty fast and his wife was super nice and educated me on some important gun clauses that I did not know were there. 10/10 for me.

The pro to Carolina Smoke and Guns is that you generally get a quick response in regards to email, but I never got a response when I called the listed phone number. From past experience dealing with FFL dealers that work out of their house they are pretty flexible with their hours, this is not the case with Carolina Smoke and Guns. If you cannot get there between 5:30 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. this is not the one for you. Also they take a day or two to process your delivery so do not expect to pick up your item the day it was delivered.

Have bought a suppressor and several guns from CG&G. Have scored some very good deals. Good people and fair prices. They are also passionate members of the local competition shooting community. Humble home business. I am looking to avoid the big store/Walmart/Gander experience, so that suits me. A+.

Not recommended. Extorted a cash payment from me before turning over the item I already paid for! Use another dealer, there are many.

Shawn has been a great help in evaluating several of the NFA purchases Ive considered. Hes offers friendly , technical discussions on aspects of my planned purchases that Ive not been aware of. These have all been explained to me in a professional , low pressure manner.I find him to be somewhat left of my own particular political compass, but we all have our political comfort zone. At no time did I feel his slightly left of my political needle negatively affect the timely and courteous transactions we subsequently completed.Five stars.

I have dealt with CS&G for several years and have always been pleased by their service and support. Multiple NFA transfers and firearms purchases from them have all gone smoothly. Shawn and Susan are extremely knowledgeable about firearms law and an excellent resource for advice. I highly recommend them.

When faced with being shafted by another dealer, who sold my item that was paid in full, to another customer, Shawn went out of his way, and even contacted the manufacturer on my behalf. He obtained for me, in record time an almost unobtainable item.I cannot say enough good things about Carolina Smoke and Guns. These are fine people, who offer the highest quality customer service.

Much like another reviewer here I chose this business due to the proximity. It was nice and close by both where I live and work. However once my suppressor arrived to his house (yes - house. there is no store front) and I called to see when I could come pick it up I was also met with annoyance. The guy does pickups by appointment on weekday evenings ONLY. He continually pushed back on my several attempts to pick my item up claiming he was too busy. It wasnt until almost a month later that I was allowed to come and pick up my item. A MONTH!Once I got there and was able to do the paperwork, I discovered that he doesnt even really keep everything locked up. Piles of the NFA items are kept in a closet (with exposed hinges) with a tiny padlock on it.Anyone with 5 minutes, a hammer, and a screwdriver could break into that thing easily.I HIGHLY do not recommend.

Im confused. Shawn has never been anything but supportive whenever I have needed his guidance in the selection of a firearm or accessory. Bad service? Not possible if you are dealing with Carolina Smoke & Guns out of Durham. Maybe the reviewer is mixing up CS&G with another vendor. Highly recommend to anyone. And - I drove 2.5 hours to pick up my guns and it was still a great deal!

I used Shawn for my transfer on a handgun purchase from Buds. Mostly due to proximity from my home and the fact that TSA refuses to accept transfers from Buds (I have inquired with their staff who offered to explain why they dont in person). I have absolutely no complaints. Shawn responded to emails quickly and worked with me on scheduling a meeting time. I was greeted by his extremely courteous wife whom I gladly conversed with throughout the transaction. The process went smoothly and was handled professionally by Shawn. He was all business and answered all of my questions. I will gladly recommend CS&G to anyone in the Triangle area looking for this type of service and will utilize him for all my future firearm transfers, suppressors, and likely any firearm purchases if the price is right.

Called with a simple questions, the guy who answered the phone ( I’m assuming was the owner) was rude and hung up the phone before barely answering my question. Info about the business and how they operate wasn’t on google, so wasn’t need for attitude/rudeness. Honestly doesn’t surprise me given the way America is now days smh. Hopefully this helps another person not have to be treated like this.

I have bought 3 guns from Shawn. The process is simple, you call and let him know something is on the way, he will let you know when its there promptly, and you arrange a time to pick it up.He, his wife and his dogs are very friendly. His business is run out of his home and he is available in the afternoons during the week. This is perfect for me since I can pick up my gun after work. One time his wife drove to Greensboro to pick up a glock for me the day I ordered it, and it was in my hand 24 hours later. His prices are the best, and hes a stand up guy so hes the only person Ill buy guns from while Im in he RDU area.

Well, Im trying to understand what the 2 negative reviews expected. I am glad that the FFL I use on a regular basis is pro 2A. Right wing propaganda? I guess posting his legally required documents, a poster about the second amendment and a few American Rifleman magazines are right wing propaganda? Really now? I have transferred several guns and bought 3 supressors from Shawn. He has always been professional and upfront about being a small dealer without a storefront. He has also always informed me about how long Class 3 items take. When you are waiting on the BATFE, who knows how long these things take. As for scheduling appointments, I find after work is always the best time for me and because he has low overhead, his prices are some of the best in the area. He follows the law, isnt that what you want from a gun dealer?I always use Carolina Smoke and Guns for my transfers and class 3 items and I suggest you do too.

Ive used a number of FFLs in the Triangle before finding Shawn. Since then, hes the only FFL I deal with. Shawn is very knowledgeable about gun laws, whether its state and local carry laws, NFA rules, etc. Hes also active in the competition shooting community, and I know him to be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Great dealer and he and his wife Susan are great people. I highly recommend CS&G.

I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. When I ordered a gun online, I chose them as my transfer agents because of proximity. When I saw that the gun had been shipped, I got in touch to make arrangements, only to be met with annoyance that I had dared call and ask about it. Shawn was rude and unhelpful. When I finally made arrangements to pick up the gun, I realized this business is run out of a house, which is not particularly clean or well organized. Its an incredibly unprofessional environment, full of extreme right-wing propaganda and guns lying all about the house. And while the cost was reasonable, I could not help but feel like these guys felt they were doing me a favor, rather than engaging in a business transaction for which I was paying. Im deeply disappointed in this experience.

Just to clarify on the two negative posts. I do run the business out of my house and do transfers at a price way lower than a store front would charge. It is a house and I live it in. Have many very happy customers including at least 6 Durham County Deputies and hundreds of other people. As far as right wing propoganda, I sell guns so I guess I am right wing and I doubt many buyers are not also right wing. So no idea what the one gentleman expected. By the way, I received his gun and he picked it up the next day, less than 24 hours. For Mike I am not sure what he expected. All of my firearms are stored per ATF rules and I am fully insured. What he failed to notice is the door is locked and the windows and door are all alarmed so they are plenty secure and meet federal and state requirements. I have been audited by the ATF with no issues. His month wait had nothing to do with me, he was waiting on the ATF to complete their paperwork and mail it. Once I had the approvals I made the transfers.I would love to have your business in the future you can check many other sites and see my positive reviews including my own website, budguns and several of the NC firearms forum.
