Avalon has delicious pastries (chocolate croissant is divine), good coffee and savory treats (get the avocado toast!) for breakfast. Also enjoyed their simple but well-made Turkey sandwich for lunch. The savory focaccia was big enough to share! The bread is top notch and the customer service is too! Grab a cookie on your way out - they’re the best!

The Willis location in midtown is a favorite morning stop for me. The coffee is always good and the quiche is to DIE for! There are clips secured to the outside of the building to clip a leash to so I don’t have to worry about my dog while I go inside to order, and to top it all off the staff is super friendly! Definitely recommend this place.

I come here for the breads, you cannot best their fresh and moist delicacies. The texture and taste beat out supermarket breads any day of the week. The breads here are all made with quality ingredients, youre not buying disgusting enriched bread packed with preservatives. Youre getting some legit bread man! The prices arent too steep, but they arent exactly cheap. Youre getting quality here. I love the rye personally, the chewy outer shell, and its soft and delicious interior has me hungry just thinking about it. Stop by if youre nearby and check it out, the smell might attract you regardless.

Let me start off with an O.M.G. the flourless chocolate cake was phenomenal! The coffee brownies are also a WOW! The Brioche pecan Julia Child cinnamon bun got an O.M.G. too! But all their savory items Ill pass on the broiche w/ham etc.(for the price to have something reheated I try to avoid). Parking can be tricky if you arrive during their peak hours to give enough time to find parking during those times. Their bread(for me) is phenomenal I enjoy the Pumpernickel, Rye(without seeds) and the rye marble, if youre expecting a fluffy light bread youll be sadly disappointed they use 100% organic flour for these and all breads but because rye is denser you end up with a bread a lil more denser that will keep you fuller longer, a very good artisan product!(just wish they had the bread available all the time or post in IG when they dont have items would be appreciated) Service was efficient and quick but the cashier was a lil more friendlier, the coffee I ordered(lrg latte) wasnt anything phenomenal or even the regular (American) coffee that you pump yourself out of thermal containers(for the price I would appreciate better, & freshly brewed coffee) the choices for regular coffee were only two, with such large choices of coffee around Detroit it would be nice if theyd step up their game in this area. Ill continue coming here(driving over 46miles one way) for the bread and sweets alone, but in off peak hours! LOL

Theyre so efficient. Just call when you get there and theyll bring it right out. This is the kind of bakery where everything seems kind of dry, which some people like but isnt my favorite. The salted chocolate chip cookie was good, but its a hard cookie (also not my favorite). Ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg and tomato. It was the worst avocado toast I’ve ever had. The bread was not toasted. The eggs was over easy, not poached. It had sliced cucumber which I didn’t care for. The avocado was not fresh. Was disappointed. Maybe it was because they were busy. I’d suggest going during a weekday.

As always, fantastic service and quality food. This was my second day in a row to pick up baked goods and lunch with a friend.*Currently, during the pandemic, they are limited to 4 people inside. Best bet is to order online and pickup. The orders are placed right inside on the right.*This was my first time trying the Vegan Willis Wich and it did not disappoint! Perfectly moist, flavorful sausage patty and sriracha mayo.My friend and I also split the Turkey Gouda Songs Butter Biscuit. If it sounds like a mouthful, it is! Its a really hearty biscuit sandwich and can easily be shared. The sweet apple butter pairs well with the turkey.Avalon is a stand-up business with core values and great relationship with the community!

Been coming to Avalon since its inception! On my many pedestrian haunts through the ever expanding Midtown, if found this little gem. I was once actually courted for a management position, but Im the morning person... I love Avalon, how its evolved during the years, the product is consistent. I enjoy the eclectic mix of patrons. The counter people know the regulars, its the meet-up spot and its like your kitchen, but you didnt make anything. They used to serve this wonderful Ethiopian tea...but, theyve stopped (wonder why...). Seating is a challenge on busy Saturday afternoons. They always have the bread that I like, even if theyve been slammed (win-win). music is always bumping, and you can sit and snap, or bob your head. Parking is quite a challenge, as you will circle the block trying to get a space....ugh

Ive been relying on Avalon for many of my breakfast, lunch, and random bread needs since moving to the neighborhood in 2015. While Ive always enjoyed the fresh and tasty food, the friendly staff, and the neighborhood vibe, Ive never been moved to write a review until this morning. I tried the house made vanilla syrup for the first time in an iced latte. Lets just say its one of the most incredible things Ive ever had. My apologies to Starbucks, Great Lakes, and Tim Hortons down the street, but I think this drink is the only coffee beverage I will ever consume again. A+ Avalon!
