This is an awesome used book store. It has a huge selection of books and vinyl. Its a fun place to browse and its right on Dentons downtown square. Fun stuff!

This place is so cool! Could look around for hours and still not see everything. Lots of options for kids books too which was a plus!

The establishment clearly respects their books and ask that you do the same by requesting the supervision of offspring and care handling specific volumes.Extensive, exhaustive categories in nooks and crannies leave the impression of a delightful maze (not like corn mazes. Those are terrible)with new surprises around every corner. Most impressive art selection I’ve ever seen. Note: no database so what you see is pretty much what you get, but books are organized well by section, and author. Additional signage to guide your search as well.Kind, courteous staff.COVID RELATED: public restrooms closed to the public. The vast space makes social distancing effortless.

My first time at this store and am I not amazed by the collection and variety they have. This bookstore reminds me of Powells bookstore in Portland Oregon. There are rooms inside another and another one inside with each category labelled well. They also have a underground section that has political , war and history. There is one second level too with fiction and other stuff. They also have a ramp section on first floor that has great vinyl records and books for music, art.What I like about this store is if you are looking for a book or something that store sells you can request that by filling a request form. They will have it for you. One needs more visits to explore lot of books and stuff here.Vintage stuff I would say.If you are around north texas area and looking for a great bookstore, just head to this store. We need to support these guys for such a wonderful place.

Im a little biased, my Wonderful son works here. They are a fantastic used book store. And they have a little spirit in the building I believe back around the childrens section. Go visit. You will feel it....

This was such a fun and interesting store to go to! The vinyl collection is truly unmatched and we found so many great gems while we were here. Some included Ornette Colemans Free Jazz, Snarky Puppys Sylva, the space jam original soundtrack and Taylor Swifts Lover. The book store is surprisingly big and has a bunch of hidden nooks and crannys that you could spend several hours exploring. Overall it was a very memorable experience and I will most definitely be returning!

This is one of my favorite stores on the Square. Its certainly not a big box store in any sense and thats part of the beauty of this place. Recycled Books is an eclectic mix of reading, listening, and viewing materials along with a smattering of wonderful and varied merchandise (e.g. Pop vinyl, board games, etc.). The staff are always as much a pleasure to do business with as they are helpful.

Very cute bookstore that feels like a labyrinth at times. I think it used to be an Opera house so there are rooms within rooms that are filled with books. Every turn was a nice surprise. Not sure about the prices as I didnt go to buy anything, but a great atmosphere.

The Opera house Recycled book store is a piece of Denton history and it is a huge staple in Denton! I have been coming here for at least 16 years! It is a super fun and unique recycled and used book store unlike any you have ever been to before! It is huge and they have an upstairs and downstairs filled with all of the most amazing selections of books! They have every book genre possible! They even have a super cute kids book section! You are sure to find the type of book you are looking for here! They also have tons of movies, cds, and even awesome vintage records! They even have toys for kids, and vintage board games! They have so many exciting treasures! There is literally something for everyone here! This bookstore is also always decorated super cute! I feel like I’m going on a treasure hunt every time I come! I love coming here on family nights with my husband and kids! We always have a blast! The people that work here are always really sweet and helpful!

Great place! Lots to see, very creatively laid out. Lots of books in different languages too. Needed more time to see all the wonderful things. I bought a wonderful French book for my little girl, with the English translation. I love it.

I went on a first date a few weeks ago. On this date I wanted to buy this girl an album but I also wanted to buy myself one. I have been looking for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy on vinyl for months. I could not find it in their assortment of vinyls. At checkout I asked the man behind the counter if they could help; he checked everywhere and finally decided to place me on an order list. A few weeks later the man that helped me (Axel) shot me a text telling me that it finally came in. To my surprise Axel had gone above and beyond by ordering me the special edition, I was ecstatic. The people that work there especially Axel are amazing people that make you feel like you have been going there for years. Thank you all for your help and I of course will be returning for future business.

This is the best bookstore because it never ends with its many treasures. I was sad to see a for lease sign on the building, I really hope this business continues to thrive anyway!

A broad range of books and records organized very nicely in a downright huge space. Ill definitely be going back when I have more time. (Be aware that if you have a large bag, backpack, etc, youll need to check it at the counter before you shop.)

Regardless of how much time you have, there isnt enough time to really visit this shop!Every nook and cranny has something that you really do need - even if you didnt realize that need until you saw it!There is something magical about a shop with a great (and well organized) selection of vinyl albums, 8 tracks, and every imaginable book. I bet Amazon has more books, but I also very Amazon doesnt know that a lot of these books even exist. Browsing is as educational as it is fun, and a great staff can help you find the unfindable.Go there, youll thank me.

I love this bookstore!!! It has the old vintage feeling to it. I found some books that I havent seen in a long time... even at HPB. You will find small hidden rooms within a room and stairs leading to a basement and a third floor. Its open until 9 PM even though Google says 6 PM. Worth traveling the 45 minutes to get here.

Reasonable prices and very nice people. If its a hot day, be warned. The air-conditioning isnt very good. Its too hot in there!

They have just about anything you would want to read. However, the staircase is almost impossible to use if you have any handicap with walking. It also smells a bit musty but I think that is all the well loved books. Really a great place for a good look.

This is the place to find a hidden gem and at great price. Be prepared to spend a few minutes because they have a lot of items. On my last visit I bought an $80 photography book for $20 in near mint condition.

I have never been to this store before but it came highly recommended by multiple people. The selection was decent, the prices were fairly high for being used product, and the employees were unfriendly and of little to know help. I came, I saw, and my experience was nothing to write home about. Ill stick with Half Price Books from now on.

This is by far one of the coolest places in Denton. You dont ever need to go to half price books again. Theyll buy your books and give you store credit and they have upstairs downstairs, and lots of secret passageways FULL of books!

Should be closed down.I have never seen so many rude people working under the same roof. They range from disinterested to actively hostile. Ive heard them mocking customers behind their backs. They also rip you off if you sell there. Most of the good stuff they take and sell online. The store is basically a trash fire. Dont waste your money here, but hang out and youll get to observe some truly awful human beings working.

This is, bar none, the best book/record store in the country. fair prices, kind staff, incredible atmosphere, and an unbeatable selection. as someone who likes going off the beaten path, Recycled is a godsend. to illustrate- out of sheer curiosity, I once checked to see if they had Fitzgeralds Great Gatsby. on this particular day they did not - but they had an edition of an earlier *manuscript* of Gatsby, which is way cooler.I live in Georgia but visit Dallas often, and there is never a question of will I go to Recycled - it is *when* will I go to Recycled. easily in my top five favorite places.

The best used book store I have ever visited. Huge and diverse inventory, including many collectibles, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. If they can use something, they pay much better than other used book stores, but they are selective in what they will take.

Recycled Books Records CDs can be a treasure trove of wonderful stuff to find – provided that you are willing to spend the time and efforts to search for it. I have found many books worth reading from here. Check out their collection of CDs also.

Denton Square has 2 record shops you can visit. Recycled Books/Records has a cool vibe, fun decor, and a pretty good vinyl selection. I found 5/8 items I was looking for. No issues with anything I’ve purchased from there. Prices are fair. My vinyls cost between $5-$28 each so I was pretty pleased!Fun signage throughout!Staff could have been a little more friendly though.

The staff knows their books and theyre happy to give a recommendation! Great for buying gifts.

One of the best (if not best) used bookstores I have been to in the US. The bookstore is huge, well-organized, and has a great selection of used books. Its a great place to just wonder and find tons of new books, games, and other reads. One of the few things I miss about Texas!

Im a young woman from San Antonio who has what many call an interesting music taste. The record stores there dont carry my favorite music, and they arent so keen to take their time to help customers find what they really want. In San Antonio, there isnt much demand for brutal death metal, deathcore, or dance music, which have been hard for me to find, and these are my favorite genres which has saddened me to find out that no one carries this music on CD and cassette. I wholeheartedly appreciate the staff of this store, especially Axel, for taking the time to help me find a good starter kit of death metal, dance, and other genres I like to ship from Denton to San Antonio just for me. They also have a wonderful collection of classical and pop music from the 80s and 90s, just like I asked for. However, I wish they can improve the death metal and dance sections for future customers like me. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs help discovering new music.

I go here for my 15 yr. old granddaughter who now collects vinyl records for all groups she loves.The Beatles,Led Zep,Billy Joel and plenty more.She now asks me every time she visits does she get to go to Josey Records.Of Course we go.Great variety and costs.

Nice little bookstore to buy used books at, they also sell records and DVDs and store souvenirs. I bought 3 books for $24, a little more expensive than I was expecting but not too bad. I plan on going back and spending more time browsing all the books, the selection was varied and Im sure any bookworm could find something to enjoy here.

Get lost in amazement when you go here. The maze that is this old opera house is amazing. Books of all sorts. Religious (Wiccan, Christianity and the sorts) as well as Manga, art, history, and local books from local authors too!!! They also have a small collection of games in the front end and cards too! They have movies, CDs, records, and art, collectors items and a famous books for the tall section. Theyre one of the beat tourist attractions and youd be supporting local businesses. I absolutely love them and recommend them to anyone. Also you can sell your stuff for extra cash or trade it in as well!

The prices were decent, and the staff was mostly nice! A woman who appeared to be manager was slightly sassy, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt (could have been having a bad day, etc.). Would recommend this book store, even if just for the vast selection!

This is a place to remember, to feel, to love, and to read. The recycled book store holds a place of reverence in Denton, Texas for many reasons but my personal experience tells me it’s for those who love. Who love history, or culture, or astrology, or more. It’s a place that will be held dear in my heart long after I leave for the last time.

I have visited this establishment for over 15 years. It is always the same as I left it. My book heart is living here. Also, the Van Morrison collection is spectacular!

This bookstore is the best thing in Denton, I’m sorry if that’s not well fleshed out or specific enough but it’s just the truth. This is hands down my favorite bookstore. I know it sounds silly, but being in this store is like walking in a dream. It almost feels like a fantastical labyrinth of great literature, plus their vinyl section is incredible! I love this place, it’s always going to be one of my favorite spots.

Theyre bound to have something for everyone. They dont just have books, they have a little video games section, a music section and toy section. I dont even like to read but I like this place.

HUGE collection of books by TWU! I had been wanting to visit this place for the longest time and finally checked it off my list today. Parking in the area can be a challenge. Pricing is average and you can probably find cheaper books at half priced bookstore but the collection is crazy. The store is like a maze which I found it fun😀 I don’t remember last time I saw a cassette tape and you can find some here. They also have a big collection of records. You can easily spend all day here ! The building is old and you can hear the squeaky sounds of peoples footsteps and oh you got to love the smell of used books too

Have come by from Oklahoma many times over last 20 yrs or more. Always enjoy browsing the incredibly wide selection of books ans recordings. Was a little disappointed that bathrooms were closed to the public. Maybe covid precaution hope they can get them back soon.

Fun! 3 floors to hunt for the perfect used book, vinyl record, CD, DVD, and more. They have a lot of cool stuff, rare items and collectors stuff. You could definitely spend an entire afternoon here and not even realize it- I know I have!

This is one of the best bookstores in all of the Midwest—whether it be due to their cassettes/vhs dedicated to local bands, their DVD/Blu-ray selection, retro games, or any of the hidden gems you can find within. We stopped on our way back to OKC from Dallas, and we are so glad we did! The prices were better than any other bookstore, and it was just a great experience overall.10/10, we could have stayed here for hours just browsing.

I looooove Recycled Books. Ive been popping in sporadically for the last two years or so and I love the environment. The staff is welcoming and helpful, theyve got an array of books on different subjects, and every time I visit is like the first time because theyve always got something new! Honorable mentions: Axel (the human) and Rosie (the chihuahua)! Admittedly, they keep me coming back. This business is a fixture in the Denton community and I will always go there to buy my books, before looking elsewhere. The only thing I think could use improvement is carrying more books on the the Black gay experience/Black feminism having a separate section from other feminist literature. Recycled is a treasure trove of entertainment and knowledge. I highly recommend a visit! Lets do our best to support local businesses during this very trying time! 💞

Yikes. Ive probably never been treated so poorly by employees - the guy at the front with the dark hair and beard and the dark haired girl with winged eyeliner were SO rude and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we walked in. Absolutely DO NOT recommend this place. They probably have some great books, but its not worth it because of the workers!!

I don’t understand all the good reviews. This place is EXTREMELY unorganized and random. Searching for a specific book/author is very difficult. I’m not sure what alphabet they’re using but it’s not the same one I use. One shelf may be arranged alphabetically but the next shelf doesn’t follow in order. There are books in theater alcoves, (which I’m sure we’re great for theater, but not so great for a shop). The step up to the alcoves is way too high for most people. A limber person could make the assent maybe, the but I sure couldn’t. Unfortunately for me, I think the books I might have been interested in were in these alcoves. The store is mostly devoted to albums, CD’s, DVD’s. If you have a few hours to rummage through the shelves, aren’t looking for a specific book and have a taste for off the wall books, record, CDs, etc., then this might be your kind of place. It’s certainly not a book store for my tastes.Also, as a side note, they’re very expensive!

Three floors chocked full of used books. They have many copies that are signed and a rare books section. The staff is knowledgeable. The place itself is a wonderland paradise for book lovers.

This store is AMAZING. Rooms upon rooms of books and music and more - I never wanted to leave! If I didnt have to go to work, I probably would have stayed for at least several more hours. The Rare Book Room was incredible from afar but we didnt have time to ask an employee to accompany us inside. Next time for sure! The staff was incredibly helpful and so nice. There was even a tiny sleeping Chihuahua on a pillow at the entrance that I just had to pet. I cannot recommend this wonderful place highly enough! You wont be disappointed!
