Went to lunch with my family and came out to a flat tire. Took tire off and brought it to pep boys asking for same day assistance. Not only did they help repair my tire but they got it done within an hour of dropping it off. Awesome service and definitely would recommend to friends and family. Thank you!

Had a tire patched here a few weeks ago, that went alright. Went to do some work on the car a few days ago and one of the lug nuts was tightened extremely tight to the point that the wheel stud snapped trying to get it off. They quoted me $315 to fix the wheel stud and said it would take 2 hours of labor to fix. Other shops quoted me nearly half of that. I took it home and did myself in 45 minutes with non power tools. Never again will I come back here.

Bought 4 new Cooper tires on Feb 1st.On Feb 17th the sidewall blew out while driving down the highway.... did not hit a pothole or road debris... pristine road.Pep boys will not honor warranty and will not reimburse tow (even though there is a big sign on the front door that says free roadside assistance for 1 year with tire purchase which includes tow and spare installation... this was 16 days, not even close to a year.)Manager says Best I can do is sell you a new tire and well mount it for free.Do yourself a favor and take your tire business elsewhere.2/28/20 - UPDATE from 1 star to 3The manager did come around and replaced the faulty tire.Still not a great first impression so I cant give better stars.

I got a tire deal thats out of this world.I got 4 new cooper SUV/TRUCK tires installed with tax for $518 out the door. I think it was buy 2 get 2 free. They are nice cooper tires. The coopers are better than my old good year wranglers. An average price for 4 new installed 18inch SUV/TRUCK tires would average from $825-$1000+

The word Pep should be stripped from this corporation as false advertising. They should be called, The Boys Formerly Known as Pep. A simple vehicle inspection which always takes 15 minutes at Meineke is now at 90 minutes and counting which is why I have time to write this review. I would have killed time browsing the shelves but they are mostly empty. I should have known by the peeling paint at the front door. These people dont care and it shows. First and last time for me.

This store is dying. Its it need of a good face-lift. Everything in the store is dirty and dusty. The shelves are all bare and half empty. And counter tops and main aisle is covered in clutter. Pep boys was once a cool place for parts and upgrades. But thats a far long gone time for pep boys. I doubt this store will be around for another 1 or 2 years.

Be prepared to wait. You arrive at your scheduled appt time and stand waiting for 10 mins to check in.They tell you that your car is ready, but you stand waiting for them to help you and give you the diagnosis.Then when you ask how long it will take for the fix, they say it’s going to take an hour, but it’s been 2 hours and I’m still sitting here.I need to learn my lesson and find a new spot. There has to be a tire shop that respects the customer’s time and is helpful and honest, right?

These guys were great i called a hour before close for a tire change it was a inconvenience for them with being short staff and it being so close to them closing the shop. Good maintenance service and fair prices. Needs more help behind the counter. I called 4 times before I was able to reach someone to schedule. When I arrived to pick up my car I wanted and waited. Finally, I asked someone from the store sales side to get someone to help in the service checkout. She was really sweet when she got there. Just not enough people.

There speed was good, but over tightened my lungs and was told by the guy he’d replace them, the lady replaced 3 and others are still bad, she was concerned of the price more then me a customer , most my lugs twist a 1/4” both ways and then will grip, cause they stripped them! Smh also passenger tire wheel badge was missing and two of the lugs were never tightened from being stripped, so three lugs were holding my wheel in and nobody said air you have bad lugs and they need to be replaced!

Such an great place for parts and service. I went in today for help on my brakes. I also got an oil change done. I could not get my brakes fixed due to a default caliber I got from another store. I have to say that the sales rep Olivia was such an amazing and sweet person. She help me with understanding my issue and help me understand it fully and not just take my money and push me out the door. I will be back again!

Disappointed.Appointment for replacing my car tires was at 10am on Saturday morning 10/17 . I woke up at 8.30 am and I was at pep boys sharp at 10.My car wasn’t even touched or moved untill 11.45amI was finally able to get my car back at 12.30 PMWasted 2.5 hours on Saturday even when I had my appointment confirmed 15 days ago.Never visiting or giving them by business again.They don’t understand the value of anyone’s time .If you ask what’s the issue- they have one fixed answer oh we are running behind schedule

He quoted some prices and said he would give a better deal. 30 minutes later I arrived at the store...they replaced my battery immediately... and we found some deals online that lowered the price by $60 more than what he quoted originally. Got an oil change and happened to walk in at the right time. No appointment and no waiting. I hadnt planned on stopping and had my dog in the car but no problem there, theyre dog friendly and she was invited into the waiting area with me while the car was being serviced. I didnt have to wait long, they did a good job and found a good deal too! Ill be back.

Take your car elsewhere. I regret buying tires on sale here- they had cupping within a year and I had to pay more to replace. The past two times they did the “free lifetime rotation & balance” i’ve had to take it elsewhere to get them balanced properly!! This time i also need an alignment...i only do city/highway driving and havent hit any major potholes....I will get my tires balanced somewhere else and in future 100% stick with Discount tire where i have gotten 4 sets of tires before (for different vehicles) with excellent customer service.

Made an appointment for 12pm. Took car in and ran some errands went back at 2:40 to get car. Still not done car hadn’t even been back. Asked how much longer, was told 4:30. Ran more errands came back at 4:15 car still not done. Told it would be done pretty soon but we could see they only had at most two tires done. Two of the tires were the same ones we brought in. Was told 45 min at that point and I sat there until 5pm. I talked with manager who said she was only retail manager and couldn’t do anything. Another lady came in with same story. I told her how long we had been waiting. She also talked with store manager. I was told they were short staffed. Not my problem. I would have been happy to pick another day had they just said we are swamped and we won’t be done till five hours later. I go to pay, rings up total says I gave you a 20% discount for your inconvenience, your total is $104 with the 20% off. I said no. He told my husband $77 something. Guy says, Well he only rang up one balance. I said sir I came in and had four tires put on. Why on earth would I only want one of the four tires balanced. That doesn’t make any sense. He said it was a mistake. So I call my husband and nope it should have been $80. So he fiddled with computer more and says $79 and some change does that make you happy? I’m like really? No. What would have madeMe happy is to have had my car serviced closer to the time you told us to bring it in. And after he fixed price he didn’t give me the 20% off for my inconvenience. I will never go back to Pep boys. They have lost all of my future sales.

I have always been happy with the service at Pep Boys until recently. People at the front desk and the mechanics are constantly changing. The people at the front desk are helpful but not very professional. The mechanics do not give a person the feeling that they are well trained and do quality work. Their appears to be no quality control oversight. Today I took my car in for service, left it with the understanding that I would be called when it was done. For the second time in a row I was not called, not a great inconvenience but a reminder of how quality there has slipped. I have three cars that I have serviced there. I will be looking for another place to take my cars.

Brought my car in to Pep Boys, after I had new tires installed just to check the alignment, car drove & steered fine no wear issues. Pep Boys said i need an alignment... I said oh ok go ahead. They finish my car I drove off and could tell they did something not right, they were closing so I couldnt bring it back until the next day and I was 4 hrs from home. 1 hour of driving and my tires were shot, I had to jack the car up and adjust the alignment myself just to get it home.

Just was in here 3 days ago to have my battery checked because I was receiving low battery warnings from my diagnostic device. They took about 45 minutes to test my batter and told me everything checked out fine. Well, its dead now and the car wont start. They also told me they topped off the air pressure in my tires but the TPMS light is still on 3 days later. Who knows what these guys actually did while they had my car. Seems like it was mostly nothing.

I took my van in for an oil change, paid $36 which costs were supposed to include a brief inspection. They were good to get me in that day and warned me there was a 30-40 minute wait, unfortunately from arrival to completion took about two hours. I was happy enough, however, because it needed to get done and they were willing to do it same day. Wish that was the end of my experience. When I got the van home I noticed an oil leak on my drive way which previously was not occurring. I wasnt able to get it it for a few more days and oil continued to leak. I took the van back today in hopes they had just not tightened things up enough. After checking things out, apparently I have a leaky oil pan which they said must have been there for a long time as they said there was burnt oil on the pan. Things are a little suspicious to me as they mentioned nothing of this in my initial report when they had supposedly looked things over with the oil change. If it had been there already, you really shouldnt miss something that obvious especially if they are working in the area. Dont think I would trust them further with the my vehicles unless some changes happen. Either not thorough in their work or potentially caused damage, which I would like to think they probably were just not thorough.

This business is so close to being the best general Auto store/mechanic shop in the state. CLOSE.I drove over 1.5 hours TWICE to this location to get a battery changed and tires filled. Had an appointment both times (once was set via their website). First time they said oh actually, we almost for sure cant get you in today. Holy cow, OK, drove back home in a blizzard.Second time, i called ahead and verified that my APPOINTMENT was actually good this time. They said yes for sure come on in. I arrive and they said itll be AT LEAST 2 hours!!!Ended up taking 3 hours to swap a battery, asked to fill my tires with air and they forgot. The prices and actual service WHEN THEY GET TO IT is great, and the potential here is high, but they have no idea how to manage appointments and their schedules, honestly would have been fine paying double or triple what I did if I was able to actually get in when my appointment was scheduled.

I will never bring any of my vehicles or recommend anyone to come here ever again1. Last fall my dad made an appointment for me to get winter tires put on and gave him a price of how much it was going to be. Then when I arrived for my appointment they told me they had no record of my appointment and tired to charge me over $200 dollars more than the price they gave me my dad by adding a tire rotation and safety kit that I specifically told them I didn’t want. And refused to lower the price until my dad calmed them and asked why it was so expensive. I was there for over 4 hours even with an appointment and they tried to keep my summer tires when I told them I was going to keep them because they were still good for another year.2. About a month after getting my tires changed I noticed that they put one of my directional winter tires on backwards. And when I brought it in for them to fix they wanted to charge me to do it. But when my dad brought it in the next day they did it for free no questions asked.3. While getting my tires switched back at a different shop today the mechanic had to replace 5 of my lug nuts because they were so cracked and broken that they couldn’t get them to go back on. Which I can’t say forsure that this is due to Pepboys being rough with my car, but I don’t think lug nuts crack from nothing.I usually like to give places the benefit of the doubt, but after their carelessness of putting my tire on backwards and trying to charge me extra for things I very specifically told them I didn’t want. It is very obvious that they don’t care about the customer or their car and try to take advantage of young girls who don’t know much about cars or how much repairs cost.

Mine is a five star rating this place has excellent people behind the counter they tell you whats wrong with it if it doesnt need to be replaced then you dont do it they tell you whats absolutely necessary to get on the road and drive safely I would trust this place with all of my mechanical work I would come here and I suggest anyone need to know how to repair and youre around the Coon Rapids area come to this place theyll really take care of you this is my only place for car repairs

What a mess. This place used to be well run with great customer service. Now its a clown show. My wife made an appointment this morning at 8:30 a.m. for a brake job on our newer white suburban. They said if she got there at 11 a.m. they would get the vehicle right into the shop with no wait. She arrived before 11 a.m. At noon she noticed the car was still sitting in the parking lot. She asked and they said they had been looking for her old green suburban and had not been able to locate the car. Apparently they did not think to ask her where the car was even though she was sitting right there waiting. Well by 12:15 p.m. they pulled the car in for the brake job and she had also requested they change the oil while it was in. At 1:30 p.m. they came out and told her the work was done. She went to pay and found out only the oil had been changed. She asked about the brakes and was told she had failed to approve the work order. She said that despite sitting right there in the lobby no work order was ever presented to her for approval. They said they were sorry and if she would approve the work order they would pull the car back in for the brake work she originally requested. She said forget it and asked to pay for the oil change and leave. They rang up the oil change and she noticed they tried to charge her for a brake diagnostic. What a joke. She said there were 2 other unsatisfied customers sitting with her in lobby. One poor fellow said they installed a tail pipe wrong on his kids car and it burnt the bumper. So hed been there for hours trying to get it fixed and then they came out and told him they couldnt do it. I dont recommend using this place any more.

Came here to get my car fixed a little over a month ago. It was by far the worst experience that Ive had from a car repair shop.1. The day after I had my car dropped off at the shop, the guy who called me to tell me what needed to be repaired had told me that I would receive a 10% discount... Never received that discount.2. A few days after I paid them and picked up my car, I started having issues that I have never had before in the 1 year that Ive had this car. When I had them inspect the car, they told me that the whole engine needed to be replaced.3. They put the wrong oil in my car. It clearly states right under the hood that my car is only supposed to have dexos approved synthetic oil. They put in conventional oil. It also states that an engine flush is not recommended, but they did that anyway also.4. When I tried to file an insurance claim on the situation, they lied to my insurance rep and told him that it was normal wear and tear.I guess they really believe that Im really clueless on this subject. My father has been a mechanic for many years and he already knew that there was a problem on their end as soon as I got my car back. I pretty much gave them $2,600 for free. Very pathetic of them. Definitely wont be going back here ever again and I will make sure my friends/family dont step foot into this place either.

Pep boys used to be the only store i shopped at. Their parts and prices are top notch. The only reason Im giving this 3 stars is because of the employees. Went in yesterday and got a water pump, there was a younger girl working and she wouldve got 5 stars. I found out I needed a hose. Ordered and when I went to pick it up an older lady helped me and she couldnt find the part. I kept searching the aisles figuring she went to look behind the counter. When I went to see how she was doing, she was helping someone else! I left.

Very good place to go and buy your auto parts and have your car serviced. I went in for tires, they sold me on the buy 3 get 1 free set. When they found out that they did not have them in the store, they gave me different set and marked down the total to match the original offer. Plus they always show their appreciate for the military and gave me a discount on top of the mark down. Great store and great service. Thank you Coon Rapids Pepboys!

We used to prefer this location over the others. Now, well probably need to try another one-and yet stick with PB as one of our cars has a lifetime rotation attached to it. People at this location keep 1. overbooking their schedules, and 2. messing up our appointment times. It causes us to lose time and gas and rearrange our schedules too much. No longer worth it here. Deals are good, so 3 stars still.

Ok my exact experience I called and was put on hold for maybe 30 seconds and than a gentleman answered the phone and I told him I needed a new tired but I could not tell which tire as to I just attempted to put some air in and could not find it. He than proceeded to tell me it’s probably the one that low right. Which is kind of insulting because I can clearly use my eyes when it’s comes to dangerously low but it might be a slow leak so I can’t tell you which and just by that one encounter I was not comfortable bringing anything around someone who is suppose to be helpful not tell me something I already know. Work on the customer service it will go far. My car is all I got so sorry boys to the next.

This place is a joke. If I could give them negative stars, I would.They refused to test my battery because it was 7 pm and 27 degrees outside. Apparently they cant do their jobs when it is winter in Minnesota.And they wouldnt let me use their battery tester, so I wasnt able to get my battery tested.Dont waste your time, go to one of the many other better establishments.

Well I know that I would never service done here again. My fleet vehicle needed a battery and wipers were skipping badly. I took the van in to have the dead battery replaced and asked for new wipers. The service took all day and when I called to check around 4 PM, the person told me that they were just wrapping up. I asked to see if the wipers were replaced and was told that the wipers worked fine in the shop. Truth be told, they did not even looked at my wipers and I told them to replace it again. I had a bad experience here once before where the mechanic did not rotate my tires. I knew this because I marked my wheels to keep track. The video recording of the work magically skipped and did not show the mechanic actually rotating my wheels. These people are full if BS and I would discourage anyone from doing business here.

Made an appointment to get all four tires replaced and an oil change. Drop off was quick and painless.My boyfriend recieved a call about 1.5 hours later, they told him there was a small issue with our order. They only had 3 out of 4 tires in stock for our order... initially we thought they only replaced three tires... turns out they upgraded all 4 tires to a better brand at the same cost and gave us a free road hazard warranty! They turned a bad situation into a positive!This is the second time we have used Pep Boys in Coon Rapids for service on our vehicles and both times we recieved excellent customer service. Definitely reccomend!

I had an appointment at 11:00AM for a tire balance, and was told it would take about 45 minutes. At 11:50AM, I asked for the status of my vehicle as it was still sitting in the parking lot. I was told it would take another 15-20 minutes. At 12:25PM, the technician was only half way done. I had to cancel the service, as I had another appointment to attend. I had to return for another 30 minutes for them to finish my tire balance. So about two hours at Pep Boys for a simple tire balance. In conclusion, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

More like Lack of Service DepartmentThis place is a joke. Had an appointment at 3:30 for an oil change. Another customer walks in and says he has a flat tire. His vehicle gets in right away. I wait another 20 minutes before I see my car in the garage. (I thought that was ok, it only takes a few minutes to change the oil). Service guy drops off my keys at the front counter after about 45 minutes, so I stand up and wait to be called. Waiting 5-10 minutes before the guy at the counter decides he needs a break and walks away. The Service Advisor (thats what the tag on his shirt said) sees that Im obviously pissed off at this point and decided to try to help. I watch him click on computer for about 5 minutes before I am finally handed my keys. The wait would not have been bad at all if I was acknowledged. This place needs someone with customer service skills at the service counter!

We have been going to this Pep Boys for years. We have only had 1 issue and that was when we were trying to get tires put on our car. They said they had all 4 tires, after an hour, they could not find it. They determined that 1 of them was missing from inventory. they spent another 30 minutes looking, then ordered an entire new set in. They ended up giving us a free oil change and free windshield wipers, which was over $60. The tires we bought were only $300 installed. I know it was only 20%, but we had not complained or anything as of yet, and they just gave it to us, without asking for any compensation. I find that the best type of customer service and these days, that is hard to find.For those complaining about price, please stop, because if you are unable to realize that 90% of their prices are on a huge sign on their wall, then you should not be writing a complaint. NO they are not the cheapest, but I have gone to the cheapest and most of the time they end up costing me more in the long run.

Last week I had an extremely dangerous experience driving home. I hit a small bump on the road, and my front tires began to vibrate heavily. I barely had a chance to get off the road without losing control.I brought the vehicle to their service. I was busy for the day so I had someone else pay for it. I had a 10% off coupon, that the service writer said she would see it was deducted.$500 later they said it was a Pitman arm, and replaced it. Figuring they were on the ball with the diagnosis I confidently drove to work. Then on the way home, exiting from the freeway again the problem occurred again AT 65 MPH!!! I slid off ramp, and was able to regain control enough to stop it.Of course I call them and its slightly too late. Now tomorrow I have to miss work and bring it back to them. Well see what they do when they find out their fix failed.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------07/01/2014 - I Shouldve known better than to give them another chance. Today I went to this Pep-Boys to get a tire replaced. I had been to this store before several times. I was greeted, the service writer let me know the cost, and said it should only be 20 minutes. After 30 minutes I walked back in the shop to notice the car still on a lift and all tires are still on it. I asked the guy that appeared to be assigned to my car (mainly because he seemed to be wandering aimlessly) how much longer it might be. His reply was Sorry, parts havent brought the tire up yet, they must be backed up. I waited another 30 minutes, now an hour in to this 20 minute service I ask to speak to the manager. He points at the one person now dealing with a line of 4 people. When I finally get to him I ask him what is going on with this? Why is this taking so long to get the part? He left and got the tire himself, and gave it to the technician. Another 45 minutes later he finally told me the car was ready. In the end he said hed take off $20. Which basically said heres $20 instead of good service. Going to Discount Tire from now on...

Ive been to this location several times looking for service and every time the employees were incredibly rude. I asked to have a tail light changed last time and I was informed that the workers in the bay will be going on break soon and it would be a 4-5 hour wait. The previous time I was quoted a wait of approximately 3-1/2 hours for a oil change. Id recommend going elsewhere for your service needs.

Got to coon rapids pep boys at 9 told them I needed my car done today because this is my only sick day I can take for work(i am sick too) At 1130 they said they just inspected my car and it would take another 2 1/2hours. It is now 230 and I asked them how much longer and guess what they said!? Another few more hours.they are only half way done

Store is fine if you can walk in, get what you need by yourself, pay and leave. Much like all auto parts stores now days they hire people that know little to nothing about vehicles. I understand dumb labor is cheap but you will drive away customers that do know cars while costing yourself business. If you need parts...figure out what you need and order online. As far as their service department....no thank you. Rookies as far as the eye can see.

Came in for an appointment for a free ac check which I was told would be $35 for a recharge and to check the system that would take about 30 or 35 minutes. Almost 2 hours after I checked in they finally told me they recharged the system and it is working. So what took 2 hours when they said it would take 35 minutes.The service writers acted like they could careless I was there or that it took longer than the time they told me.If you drop off your car and dont care when it is done this might be the place for you but I question if the mechanics know what they are doing if it takes almost 2 hours to do a 30 minute job.

I wonder why I cannot give a zero star to it! I drive 20 miles to it. The oil change package included tire rotation but they didnot do that for me and no compensation for that. Oil change service costed me 86 dollars! I am now in Midas, do another oil change service. Their services are really impressive, and makes feel comfortable.

Extremely Negative Experience.Brought my car in on 5/29/15 to have a tire plugged/patched. I ran over a screw. The cost was $20. My vehicle was given back to me with no valve cap, multiple dashboard warnings from not resetting the tire pressure sensor, the tire was 10lbs under inflated , and the entire outer edge and front facing edge of the tire rim was chewed up ruined. I took pictures of my rim before servicing, in front of the service tech, inside their garage, and again after the servicing. I immediately pointed out the damage to the rim, and asked them to fix the tire pressure sensor. Their response was that they could not help me and to have me come back tomorrow, when their master tech is present. This is a basic procedure, that I waited an hour and a half to have completed. The damage to my car is unacceptable. The incomplete service is sloppy. Telling me to come back tomorrow without addressing these issues immediately is insulting!** Update **The rim for my vehicle was replaced and the cost for the initial service was refunded. Ryan (service manager) was the name of the individual that helped resolve this issue. Ryan was extremely professional and understanding. Ryans customer service skills are far superior to the store manager that sent me away on my initial visit. While Im not likely to return to this store, employees like Ryan are the key to winning back customers.

Complete joke of a service shop..... I came in for simple job...was given a quote for other work that needed to be done. Came back a week later shop lost quote would not honnor previous quote and added other items that were missed.... told me work was done came to pick up and was not even invoiced or ready..sitting here for 20 min...still no bill.Do not go there!

Good selection of car stuff.Went there because my vehicle came with prepaid oil changes performed at Pep Boys.There was a coding issue that didnt want to let them do it for free. Several staff members tried to resolve it. They then called their manager who said send me on my way, hed clear it in the morning.I give high marks because they handled a problem well.

Disappointed with the customer service. They never called to say my vehicle was ready. When I was transferred I was asked numerous times who I was. Excellent customer is essential in retail and they don’t have it.

I went in for two things. I wanted my oil changed and my tire looked at because it wasnt holding air. I had an appointment at 4pm. I was there early, they got my car in, and I sat down and waited. An HOUR AND A HALF later they finally told me my oil change was done. I asked them about my tire, which they didnt even check. He went back and said there was nothing wrong with it. Less than a week later it was flat again. These people dont care about their customers, and will not get my business again. On a positive note, there was one woman who was kind to me and gave me a discount. But still, not enough to make me want to come back.

A company has to work hard to be this bad.. Bought 4 tires, went back 2 days later as one tire was 20lbs low on air, the person behind the counter says he doesnt have time to look at it and offers to put air in, I said no and I need it fixed. He then looked at me and said he doesnt have time and asked me what I want him to do about it.. Really.. make the time to fix it. He then suddenly could make the time and they fixed it yet I was there again the next day with the same issue on the same tire.After 3 trips in they determined it was the valve stem leaking, thats when they said they dont replaced them, Ive never seen a company not replace the valve stems when putting new tires on yet charge $80 for mounting the tires.As for the tires themselves.. I have 3000 miles on them and they are junk, no traction in snow, loud, out of balance already, and have reduced my gas mileage by 5mpg
