This is a superb store with superb service. Hard to pick an example of their outstanding help from so many instances over the years. They sharpen blades, fix broken lamps, talk through and solve myriad home-owner problems . Once needed to move some large (100 pound) stones and the owner insisted on lending me his hand cart rather than having me purchase one. One of the true benefits of living in Concord is having easy access to Vanderhoofs. I love the store and the staff.

Recently purchased a new Webber grille from Vanderhoofs. For same price as big box store, they delivered the fully assembled grille right to our front door. Great service and we are supporting a local Concord business. Dont be fooled by how compact the store is - they have everything! Store is very clean and organized and the service cannot be beaten.

Once again, absolutely outstanding service and knowledge of all things hardware. I can call Scott or Thomas , place an order for pick up and get a text back within minutes that items ready for pick up! You cant get that at a mass merchandiser. Family owned, local residents and awesome service!

As always Vanderhoofs was awesome... Scottie and Thomas are incredibly helpful. Got a 20x20 square of hardware cloth cut to size for a very modest price. Just one piece perfectly cut no need to purchase a big roll.

I have been going to Vanderhoofs for 25 years and they are just the best- great service, friendly people , and they have everything! Plus Scott will fix anything that is wrong with appliances, screens ,you name it. I wouldnt go anywhere else even if prices might be cheaper at big box stores. I was in the area doing a job when I suddenly realized that I needed some junction boxes. Called around a couple places and nobody had them. Called Vanderhoof’s and surprisingly they had exactly what I needed. The gentleman was very helpful over the phone and was extremely polite when I came in! Great prices great customer service! Vanderhoof Hardware is the best hardware store ever! Not only do they have everything that you might need tucked away (just ask), they will teach you how to use the tool you just bought, or help figure out what is the best approach to solving a home repair problem. Recently I went in with the problem that my kittens were jumping on top of my parrots cage and sticking their paws through the bars. Scott not only had some ideas for what he could create with plexiglass to keep the kittens out, his creation was ready for pick-up by the time I got home. Creative problem solving coupled with amazing service and smiles. Local, family-run businesses are such a pleasure to support.

Very helpful staff here. They are always wearing masks and have curbside pickup.

We recently bought a 150 year old house in town and are doing some minor work ourselves. Weve been into the store a handful of times and have been really pleased with the service. Scott is knowledgeable, incredibly helpful and really patient with our questions. As first-time home owners, Im sure we are asking silly and simple questions.... but he helps talk us through things, giving us the confidence to proceed!

I cannot believe places like this still exist! It’s amazing!!! Maybe everyone in this area already knows about this jem but only having left city-apartment living relatively recently, I am both surprised and truly excited that a place like this exists. There are certain demands that arise with having property in the suburbs that I’ve had no idea where to go to have addressed and Vanderhoof has been there for us every time. I needed an axe sharpened—they do that; knife sharpening—they do that too. I went in to get supplies for my son’s pine wood derby race car project, and lamented that there’s not anywhere I knew of that could actually cut the car’s wood block, and the owner’s response: ‘I have a full workshop downstairs, I could do that!’. A refreshing and appreciated response especially after having gone to Home Depot and being told that there’s no way for the machine tech person to even access the blades to the degree that would enable cutting into wood that size. The only thing better than the fact that Vanderhoof’s can do almost everything (in my experience), is the owner’s genuinely helpful disposition and interest in helping people/solving their problems—an increasingly rare quality to see as more and more ‘mom and pop’ shops disappear. I feel so fortunate to live in a town that seems to be holding on to as many of them as possible.

A true neighborhood institution, complete with everything you could need. Cookware, snowshovels, batteries at Costco prices. Knife sharpening. Screws and nails and hoses and tools. I love Vanderhoofs!

I went to the store hoping to find a charger for my cell phone that I could plug into the wall as my daughter was Emerson Hospital and I didnt want to travel back through traffic to my apartment to get one. A young haughty man greeted me at the door. I asked him if they had cell phone chargers. He said well, I think you might need a Radio Shack for that, with a really annoying know it all attitude. An older gentleman interrupted him and said we have one right here. Although the charger charged slow for my phone, wasnt HTC brand, it worked and I was grateful. The young man seemed terribly put out that I got what I needed and slammed my debit card and receipt on the counter afterwards! I think he was on drugs! I dont know but he seemed like he thought that he was too good to work there or have a job period!

Ive been working with Scotty at Vanderhoofs hardware for 40+ years. He has everything you need and if it is not there it can be ordered. He does a great job fixing screens and broken windows. Stop by just for the experience of a real hardware store. Got a question about fixing things, ask Scotty.
