Grand Bazaar is one of the iconic landmark in Istanbul. Its a huge single storied shopping mall, which was the first and largest covered shopping center in the world. It consists of 61 streets and about 4000 shops. Its famous for different types of Turkish laps, carpets, spices, soaps, porcupine items, bags, etc. But, the prices are comparatively higher than Spice Bazaar and shopes beside the market. However, its a must have shopping experience while you are in Istanbul. And, bargain is must.

Huge place where you can buy most anything. Many vendors will ship to your home...especially the larger items. There are washrooms inside, although direction signs are few and far between. Easily spend 8 hours here. Entrances are numbered...pay attention to which one you came in. Had good luck following others in our party via shared locations on Google maps. This helped also in navigating back to where we came in.

Very nice building that is still being gradually renovated. Great atmosphere, special atmosphere, a multitude of sellers and goods! I recommend it to all travelers, but I advise you to look around, because in the shops outside the walls, you can buy the same product for a fraction of it! For half or a third! It is often misleading for the first dear seller ...

It is a must visit when you are in Istanbul but prepare to be approached by every storekeeper. If you dont want to buy anything and just browse, you can politely say no and they will leave you alone. I found their greetings quite funny! A lot of stores selling fake branded items but if you walk through the quieter alleys, you will find some nice shops and cafes.

Grand bazaar was a great place for shopping. I could have spent hours there! I went there on a city tour. So many things to see. So many shops. Lots of outdoor shops as well. Also love learning the history behind the bazaar. The architecture was fascinating. Make sure when you go here you have enough time to bargain! Such a fun place to be. Although it is busy and can be overwhelming as they literally have Everything!! 😝 it’s a paradise for a shopaholic. I would visit again!

The best part here is that every shopkeeper is willing to make you taste everything you ask for be it Turkish delight, dry fruit, spices or flavoured tea.For the first time in my life, I drank so much tea in the form of sampling.In my opinion, its a one-time visiting place for first-time tourists.I still miss the chocolate Turkish delight I purchased for myself.

Very very characteristic market! Its one of the largest and oldest market in the world; in particular it has 22 numerated entrances. There are many narrow streets with very differences products from bags to jewelries, from shoes to souvenirs. This place is always crowded and shopkeepers will always try to make you buy something!

I found everything unde one roof and the best is its covered showing like a cave.

Over crowded bazar, next to Topkapi castle in Istanbul, this Bazar contains literally anything you have in mind. Prepare yourself to buy many things and be careful from being pickpocketed. Try the most famous turkish street food pita sandwich from there!

Its a beautiful place but not what I expected. A lot of fake brand name clothing rather than local stuff. Still worth a visit but the spice market is much better.

Great place to feel the ambiance of real bazaars. Bright and picturesque, with stalls full of teas, spices, turkish sweets, carpet stores, lamp stores. It is a mosaic of various colorful stores in the old tiled mazes that are stretched all over a whole neighborhood.Definitely worth seeing, but be aware buying is advised only for those who are experts in bargaining or doesnt care the prices.

Paradise for shopaholic for sure. All kind of Turkish stuff are ready here. Bargain is a must to get the best price. For me i like enjoying the environment better than shopping in here. Very beautiful traditional bazar. You need lot of bargaining skills to shop from here. Mostly shopkeepers will tell the price 3 to 4 times higher, depending upon your nationality.But few are very honest and they will tell you very reasonable price. Inside is cool and clean.

Its once in a lifetime kind of experience to visit grand bazaar with all the history and beautiful architecture it has. But don’t buy anything from there it’s mostly overpriced and you’ve to haggle with the shopkeepers. It’s only good if you wanna buy some souvenirs etc but do bargain before buying. Our overall experience was okay we felt this was the only place in Istanbul that was overhyped.

A unique experience, however after 30 minutes you feel like, every store is a replicate of another store that you just passed! over all a great atmosphere!

A beautiful place within the city center, probably the most famous building after the Hagia. It consists of many corridors full of people selling you food, clothes, jewellery.. The think I didnt like is the smell. There is too much spices that mix with the food and perfumes. If you are sensitive, I suggest to avoid it.But the merchants spirits are amazing. So much energy day by day. Dont forget to buy some baklava!

Highly recommend people traveling through Istanbul to stop at the Grand Bazaar. Make sure you get some turkish delight. There are so many varieties. The shop reps will even let you sample the products.

Amazing! The most beautiful market I ever seen! I love the fact that such massive place is so clean and organized! Its a shame that allot of sellers are extremely insistent to the point they make you feel uncomfortable. But it is still worth the visit.

It would be such a gem without all the fake stuff they sell there everywhere. Cheap ripoff’s of luxurious brands work like a magnet for russians making this place obnoxious. It’s much more authentic in spices bazaar nearby.

This is just one of those places you must simply experience it in person, get lost through the endless pathways, and visit some of the 4,000+ stores within! Grab a camera, bring some cash, comfy shoes and clothing and DONT be afraid to bargain for a better deal. After all that grand bazaar’s main shoppers are tourists- so a little with haggle you get to save a lil and they are still overpaid lol! Win win!

Add this to the list of sites you feel like you need to see, but... What can I say, it is exactly what you expect. A ton of people, some (really not that many) pushy sales guys, and endless stalls of more or less the same stuff.

A nice and must place for tourists to visit in Istanbul. But beware of shopping. Too much bargain. Quality not reliable. You can get the same product outside Grand bazzar in a branded shop with better quality and less price. Never buy any Turkish Delight Baklawa sweets from Grand bazzar. Mustafa Hafiz or Safa is best for sweets Turkish Delight 😋. Most of the items Are expensive. Check on Amazon you may get cheaper with option to change or return. Be careful with your wallet. Very crowded still Relatively clean and shoppers are very welcoming. Its a good place to see Turkish culture. Must nearby other markets as well which are economical.

It was like nothing I’ve seen before.Lovely place, clean and cool inside because of its covered ceilings.You can basically find everything here but be careful and haggle the prices because the sellers set the prices when they see you.Especially if you don’t speak Turkish.

This is place is something different in Istanbul.One of the largest and oldest Bazaar.It has so many entry points and you may lost inside.It is always busy from tourists, you can buy anything here Turkish delights, chocolates, special teas, antiques, carpets, bags, clothes, souvenirs.Also there are currency exchange shops inside.But do not forget to bargain on prices specially they quote always at high prices but negotiate always and if they dont agree better to move to other shop and try to buy there as there are thousands of shop there and you may get better deal.

A big variety of products, awesome atmosphere and authentic interior design from the Ottoman period.It’s an experience one cannot forget, bargaining for products and finding staff that knows a little bit of every language in order to make friends with all clients.Unfortunately, i spent so much time around the shops that the only photos I took were at the endwhen almost all shops were already closed.Recommend it.

Busy and beautiful place. Great for some indoor walking around. Lots of vendors smoke so if you have a breathing issue or allergies stick to the wide open areas. All the vendors will overcharge at least 150% above what’s reasonable. Just walk through to the outside and vendors sell the exact same stuff for half the price. Haggle for everything, really, when you think they won’t go lower, ask again. You can always walk away and find someone else selling it cheaper. Enjoy your time. Don’t get food or beverages inside cause they will charge way too much.

Super crowded with tons of fake products of the famous fashion brands. But its nice to visit just to experience the Turkish bazar atmosphere. Spices, sweets are bit overpriced.

If youre going for the historical aspect of the complex then yes , its worth it. But its impossible to find a good deal here , the products are more or less average and and the vendors frankly are too pushy at times. Yeah Yeah I know its part of the charm but to be perfectly honest after the first place the whole place just feels like a giant tourist trap. Which lets be real , you expected it to be.

One of the oldest bazar, with an amazing enigma and surroundings. It has multiples and streets in which they have shops, which are maintained inside bazar in a nice manner. You can buy stones, spices, clothes, scarfs, sweets, local tradition foods, coffees beans, gift souvenirs and magnet souvenir flags and tea and coffee ☕️. You need to bargain and a must visit place if you want to see the historical side of Istanbul. It’s infront of sea view and can easily be accessed with metro and tram.

Before pandemic this place should be a cool place to visit in istanbul...but with covid19...need to be extra cautious to walk there...most of people there dont wear mask...and the place is really packed with people

Very interesting place, they have everything, and anything you could think of to buy. From underwear to fake high priced watches, like Rolex, Breitling etc. To electronics, phone chargers and accessories etc. Definitely a must see while in Istanbul 🇹🇷

Timeless classic, consider your trip incomplete if you don’t go to the bazaar as a tourist. And buy everything here, don’t assume you’ll get better or cheaper in town. I made that mistake and I couldn’t go back because of time

Clean and not too intrusive salesmen :) Good selection and variety found in other streets aside from the main! Looks like the restoration process is underway - roof cover makes this ideal in rainy weather as well. Can spend time haggling and I am sure that you could be pleasantly surprised if this is within your budget. Altogether an amazing combination of old and new items.

This is a must place to visit when in Istanbul for the experience alone. Just make sure to research or listen to a few offers before buying as the vendors will charge more (sometime double or triple) if the can. The items usually are not unique and you should be able to find them at another vendor if the price isnt right. Often I found the best prices with the least amount of negotiating occured in the non covered areas surrounding the bar and at the market across the street from the public ferry terminal (Eminönü turyol).

A very fascinating bazaar where you can literally find what you want ...from jewelry to food, spices, clothes and the list goes on. Be prepared to negotiate and be amazed how you can by good quality clothes at good prices, just dont be rude and salute, a smile and happy attitude can do wonders here. Inside you can spend hours. Youll also find restaurants and snack places, just careful to pay and ask for receipt, you might end up leaving the table and being yelled at for not paying ...clever trick to make you pay twice. The bazaar can be crowded so watch for your belongings and dont show off with fancy stuff on you.

The Bazaar was of the stops on our honeymoon. We only saw a small portion, since our tour guide warned us it’s easy to get lost if you wander too far. We were blessed to be able to visit. I really hope to return and see much more. The sights, the smell of spices, the beautiful bowls and other trinkets, friendly vendors. What a place to behold! The experience will be remembered for the rest of our lives.

There are so many national and exotic nice souvenirs for tourists as well as fake brands. All the products are overpriced. You would have fun if you like bargaining with the sellers...

A must visit place in Istanbul. The grand bazaar is a blend of ancient and modern turkey. We bought few things from there like Turkish lamps, evil eye, Turkish tea and baklavas..of course bargain is a must to get the best price!

Very neat place thar has different sections with different stuff. Want spices, go through all the vendors on one area. Looking for tobacco and shisha products? Also in the same. Clothes, leather, shoes, bags watches. Its all here. Lots of vendors but parking is not easy to find so anticipate that. But definitely worth a look of trying to find something specific and need more than one shop to find it.

Worlds largest and oldest covered market is the Almighty Grand Bazaar.These are the two doors close to each other opens to Beyazid Square and Old Book Bazaar.You might see the inside. It is a small copy of Istanbul, it contains everything. I mean everything. Chaotic and poetic like Istanbul. You want to runaway from people and crowd but you are also dying to be there.One word: Magical.

The first historic shopping mall and no doubt it has a history but people are vulture there, they think tourist are having swiss bank accounts and for 1$ item they are asking 1000$ just an example. Extremely expensive and unnecessarily high prices.They even themselves know what they are asking buyer will not pay but I visited last week there on our visit but I found it was a waste of time and 15000 steps you walked as no car no vehicle system available to visit that specific place. For just window shop you can go but I recommend lots of other markets like Flea market, Wednesday market, Sunday market, istanbul markets Spice bazaar are good but Grand bazaar its a waste of time literally.

This is one of the oldest shopping mall then when we use the word shopping mall, you should realize that you will find all kind of people here. if it is first time to visit that grandbazaar, most of the tour guides frightened you that there are some trade monsters over there and do not ever ever make shopping without asking them. Now you are in the cage. Their friendly face and warm smiles will be their commissions. :) Are there any bad shop owners over there? Definitely yes but try to trust your instincts and make your own shopping then you will realize that there are some good people over there and they are ready to sell their products with reasonable prices. Beyond all of this , if you are a first time visitor in this lovely city, this is one of the place you should visit.

I have visited Grand Bazaar for the 5th time and it always amazes me with all the spices, lokums, hand crafted products, handmade mosaic lamps and many other beautiful products. Istanbul is such an amazing place that you will never get sick of it no matter how many times you visit. Do not miss this charming Grand Bazaar when you are in Istanbul. You will love every moment exploring it.

Pretty cool place with warm welcoming people. Very atmospheric with jam packed shops and lanes, especially in the middle of the Bazaar. Many shopkeepers genuinely seem to enjoy meeting the tourists and most will offer you tea and a seat just to gab. Nothing particular authentic to buy as much is made in china or India, but dont let that stop you from a visit. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

As far is tourism concerned, its a good, beautiful and unique place and it is recommended to visit. But as a buyer this place really disappointed me, since there is no specific rate for anything. Every shopkeeper asks his own price and there is alot of cushion for negotiation. The shopkeepers are smart enough and they usually try to impress you by telling you about your homeland, this is their business tactics.However, a good place to visit, the overall area is historical.
