I went in just for a second opinion on something I had diagnosed on my vehicle. I have an interlock device in my car and Ive never had issues at other mechanics when it comes to this. I had made it very clear to the mechanic at Steves to let me know if it started beeping and to have me go to the back or to turn off my car as soon as he took it to the back. He left my car running the whole time it was in the back and let it beep constantly. He ended up running a violation on the device and I had to waste my time driving out to the place to unlock the device and it is not close to my house. I had to pay $75 to unlock it and Steve refunded me which was the least they could do. And now there is a violation on my record that I can do nothing about unless I yet again waste my time to go to the dmv and try to prove why. Steves ended up quoting me a higher price than the first place so I just completely regret coming here. Oh and that same mechanic who was working on my car left black stuff all over the drivers seat which I was luckily able to wash off myself. EDIT: I also would like to add they were trying to charge me nearly 200 dollars just to replace the battery and clean the area because it was leaking acid. When in fact it is not leaking any acid one bit.

For almost 2 years now Steve Mills racing Eddie for Cadillac hearse and any other vehicle I have or any vehicle my friends need work on. The amount of knowledge that these guys hold on vehicles from foreign the classic and muscle is untouchable, not to mention the amount of professionalism cleanliness and respect that you should receive at any business especially one that is working on such an expensive piece and extension of your life I would suggest these men to absolutely anyone with any vehicle from the Model T to your current sports car it seems like theres nothing they cant do and within minutes they seem to be able to find any part no matter how obscure. If these arent your mechanics then its time to change

I have been going to Steve Mills for years with my Honda pickup. Steve and his employees have gone the extra mile to make sure my vehicle stays working. Had an issue with it losing charge over night and Steve didnt give up trying to find the solution. After several days, they were able to see for themselves what was happening and fix the issue. In my younger years I used to turn wrenches but times have changed to where I needed a shop with integrity, which is hard to come by in Colorado Springs. I am ever so grateful to the lady that suggested his shop several repairs ago. Even my wife, who has been condescended upon at other shops, enjoys Steves group for the respect they show and the willingness to explain things without the Little Lady attitude. So, if you are looking for a shop that does the job with integrity, honest pricing, respects the car and the driver, see Steve Mills Racing.

I have given Steve and his crew several opportunities to do quality work, I have yet to be satisfied. The caliber of diagnostic work is less invasive than a quick google search. I did enjoy the friendly service, but each time was soured with a steep bill for next to no progress. They have completely lost my business, and I will be adamant about warning others to steer clear of them. You’re better off hiring a mobile mechanic off Facebook.

These guys are awesome! We were new in town, when my husband was in an accident in my moms car (1996 Camry). On the spot, I called them to see what to do with the car (we thought it was a goner). After recommending a good towing company, they suggested we have the car towed to them, and they would check out the damage the next day. Low and behold, we had the car back, two days after our accident, in working condition for a reasonable cost. We were delighted that the car even looked and acted like the good old car we were used to. This is only one of our experiences with Steve Mills Racing. I highly recommend this friendly, conscientious group of guys to care for your car.

Had my car towed to Steve Mills Racing for diagnostics. Was told it would be $1200 to replace fuel pump. Couldnt afford that so had it towed back to my house. Paid the $150 bill for diagnostics. When my car was towed back to me, there was a plastic bag taped over the drivers side window. I called and asked what had happened, because when I last saw my car the window was working properly. They stated that it is normal for them to roll down the window before working on a vehicle and it wouldnt roll back up. They stated that it must have not been working before it was dropped off so it wasnt their fault. I disagreed with this so the individual I spoke with stated that he would ask the owner, Steve, and see how he wanted to proceed. A few hours later I received a call and the gentleman said that Steve did not feel that it was his responsibility to correct the problem. Quote We will just have to agree to disagree. They create a problem and then refuse to fix said problem.

Steve has an excellent reputation and he’s willing to take on repairs that have baffled other good mechanics. My Miata had been evaluated at the dealer and two other Japanese auto shops, but the sudden power loss persisted. Steve reviewed what the other shops had done, and he took the time to listen to my description of events leading up to these engine failures. We agreed the intermittent problem would be a challenge, and he’d need the vehicle to road test to try to replicate the problem. Unfortunately the problem didn’t recur, but Steve was able to bench test the rear O2 sensor which proved defective. We validated the repair with a punishing mountain run which triggered the last two incidents, while monitoring an OBD monitor. We’d lost confidence in the car, but now we’re enjoying the Miata as we intended. Can’t say enough good things about Steve and his shop.

Brought my 71 Blazer to Steve Mills because he is still one of the few shops in town that will dial-in and adjust a carb. I have a 750cfm Speed Demon carb and needed to get it dialed in and tuned. On my first visit they had the truck about 4 days as I had told them I needed it back on a Friday. One of the techs put the truck on the scope and determined they needed to jet it leaner 2-3 steps so they went ahead and did that. He supposedly dialed in the carb. They also told me I had a leaking seal in the transfer case so I told them to go ahead and fix that (which wasnt cheap but it was labor intensive). When I got the truck back it was running better but there still was obviously still an issue. Also they did not adjust the choke at all when I specifically asked them to do that. All in all after my first visit I was disappointed and told them I was bringing the car back as it was still not running right. I adjusted the choke to be somewhat functional so I could actually start the truck in the morning and increased the idle speed so it wouldnt almost die at a stop light. In retrospect I should not have rushed them but I felt 4 days should be enough time to do the job.I brought the truck back in and I think that Steve personally supervised the job this time. He called me and said they discovered a problem with a spark plug wire burnt against the header and that was causing a misfire situation which is the main reason why it was running rough. He also said that they went through the carb adjustment from square one and adjusted the choke. The truck is running much better now and I consider it finally fixed. , I think the issue was mainly the spark plug wire all along. They actually worked on the choke and took the time to keep the truck long enough to get enough cold starts in to dial-in the choke. My main issues were:1. They SHOULD have discovered the plug wire issue the FIRST time.2. I dont feel they worked on the choke at all the first time, the fast idle screw was backed all the way out.For the money I paid I should not have had to pay full price a second time when they missed the plug issue the first time. I felt I paid too much overall.I think they have the experience and knowledge to work on older vehicles once the right tech or Steve is involved. But that is just my experience.I would have given them 5 starts if the issue was fixed the first time. I will probably go back in the future for jobs that require skills for older hopped-up vehicles. For run of the mill jobs they may not be able to compete in price but it depends on the job I suppose. They have my number if they want to comment to me on this review.

Feeling really bitter that I just spent 3 hours waiting and paid a 115 bucks for a diagnoses on my Mazda 6 and they still dont even know whats wrong with it. Then Steve tells me to expect 350 when I come back just so they can keep trying to figure out whats wrong. Now I have to pay another mechanic to even diagnose my car much less repair it. They kept inferring it was my brake pads but I was paying for a professional to solidly tell me whats wrong with my car. They could have at least cut me a deal since they didnt even diagnose my car. Should have taken it to Bob Penkus in the first place but I try hard to support small local businesses and they assured me they knew how to work on Mazdas. If they cant diagnose an issue in 3 fricken hours it doesnt seem true that they are qualified to handle repairs on Mazdas. Im so disappointed and I really couldnt afford the diagnose fee this time of year. I wont be back. Total waste of my time.UPDATE: Took it to Bob Penkus like I should have in the first place they had it diagnosed as as failed BCM in 30 minutes.

They charge $90 an hour which is better than the dealerships $125. I took my Cherokee to them for a random no start. They called me next day said the fixed it. that it was a bad relay. Ok great. then they called me back and said that it still wouldnt start. ok. next day they say it is now fixed, faulty nss switch. ok they ended up charging me $678. $435 for the nss. its $279 at advance. I asked him if it was oem part he said he thought so, blatant lie he knew it was aftermarket and $25.99 for the relay. they cost about 25 cents. so they made it appear they were doing me right. On the labor they were, they just raped me on the parts and im smart enough to know they did. another business out to make maximum profit not to provide true honest quality service. glad my truck is fixed! didnt appreciate being hit over the head on cost with a fake smile. Thankful my truck runs. Paid too much! Not impressed. they are worth one star!
