Super cute and trendy coffee shop. The coffee is amazing and the baked goods are HUGE and delicious! The staff is very helpful and friendly if you need suggestions on what to order.

Probably my favorite coffee shop to visit just because of their dessert/bakery selections. Coffee was decent and they provided multiple lactose free milk choices. I recommend trying any of their creamy desserts and the pepperoni croissant.

This place is so GREAT!!! The coffee is fantastic and the employees are so, so kind! I come here at least once a day; the prices are reasonable and the quality of coffee and food is phenomenal. I love supporting local businesses and I will continue to support this establishment!! Great job all around!!!!!!! Highly Recommend!!!! During summer months there are tables outside and if the weather is nice, it makes a great place to spend your lunch hour.

When my Greek immigrant family stepped off the boat from Lady Liberty my Grandmother chose Cleveland, Tremont to be exact. Perhaps she had a prescription filled here when it was a pharmacy. Today it is a cozy & welcoming cafe, with accommodating staff.

I was introduced to Civilization by some cycling friends, and it has become one of my favorite coffee places in downtown Cleveland. It is small with an old fashioned feel inside, and everything about it is excellent, from the coffees to the pastries to the breakfast food options. My go-to while there is a cafe americano and a ham and cheese croissant. Check them out - you will not be disappointed!

Yesterday was my first time , met a friend here. I had the apple cinnamon iced tea I believe , and it was indeed delicious . Today I took the grand kids in for a snack, we picked the dark, dark Chocolate vegan cookie and I got a different flavored tea which was equally as delicious as yesterdays . The 3 of us shared the cookie and we all 3 are in agreement that , that, was indeed, one of the most fantastic tasting cookies weve had. Ever. We will be going back .

Great Coffee. But the attitude of the employees is hit or miss. Everyone was really nice to me accept a younger shorter man. I even had one woman suggest for me to try a new drink and it’s now my favorite. Great place.

The coffee is always good and even on a Saturday they had great stock of the stuffed croissants from heaven! (Look, I havent been here for over a year: Im excited.)They have an extended entrance so you dont have to wait in the wind, 4 customers at a time are allowed in the main room, and the bathrooms are open for customers. Masks are, of course, required. No indoor seating but they do have a few tables outside.

“Business decision” to keep inside seating closed though state requirements expired, disappointed to be denied AC for recuperation on a sweaty day, the reason we stopped here. Otherwise, pleasant space and drinks.

It was a nice spot to work for about an hour one morning. The coffee was good and they had a decent selection of pastries. Service was fast and polite. The only complaint was it was a little cold in the building (in the summer). But that would not stop me from going back.

Good coffee, single vs double was a strange way to denote size but the double is a 16oz or larger. The bakery is what is amazing. The croissants are massive!

My friend and I first laughed because your name is “Civilization”. With a tag line like “a cafe in the European tradition”, it genuinely insinuates that Europeans curated coffee drinking which is far from true. The Chai tea I got was a cup half filled with foam and it came with no sleeve to protect my hand from the thin cup that it was served in. My brownie came with German chocolate icing but warming up my item wasn’t even offered as an option when it’s 45 degrees outside... you did what I expected... in European tradition, you let me down.

Super cool place. Wish there were more room. My wife and I were looking to sit down and there are only a few seats in the whole place. Only one table and a small bar area. Great place for to go orders only.

This is one of the best non chain coffee shops to visit. They have great coffee, good eats and great indoor and outdoor seating with nice atmosphere. Whenever winter ends I love coming here to eat outside and enjoy the new warm season.

The coffee was amazing and my cranberry/orange scone was fantastic. The staff was super nice. They seem to have a good variety of teas and flavors. Recommended!

Excellent combination of fast service and great product. I had the double cafe mocha and my wife had a vanilla latte and we both had our drinks by the time we were finished paying. Both were also very tasty.

My first visit and I was very pleased with my great tasting panini sandwich! Well worth the $7. Nice clean establishment with friendly courteous staff. Will definitely go again to partake of one of their freshly prepared awesome looking pastries. The size of some them would actually take the place of a sandwich! Cant wait to try one! And the incredible prices on them will probably result in me buying one for me and one to gift to a friend!

I live right around the block from Civilization, and Ive been meaning to try it for awhile now. I went in for the first time with my cousin. She got a regular hot chocolate, and I got a white hot chocolate. They were both fantastic!!! We were so surprised at how good they were. The place was so warm and inviting. Just what you would want from a little coffee shop. The prices were great as well. This is definitely one of my new favorite places! :)

I love this neighborhood coffee shop. Its a gathering place for work or friends, you can get things done on your laptop, or just enjoy the variety of coffee, teas, and food. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful and I believe you can bring your to-go coffee cup instead of taking a disposable one. Im usually in there at least once a week - big fan.

Almost every morning before work I head in to get coffee at Civilization. I am first greeted outside by Bruce with a friendly conversation about the weather or traffic, then always greeted by name from Taylor or Nancy the owner. I worked at Starbucks for 7 years and I appreciate the individualized excellent customer service I receive each time. Its nice to be a regular somewhere. I love supporting this local coffee shop its definately worth it! Its always a great way to begin my morning especially after a long commute in traffic.

Food and coffee were good, atmosphere was great but too cold. The door outside opens right into the seating area blasting customers with cold air every. single. time. Hate having to wear my down jacket inside during the winter...

Stopped on a bike ride for a coffee. The latte I got was decent - better than average. I did enjoy the atmosphere - worn and authentic. I wish I would have tried the soup as it looked delicious.

Relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. Seems like plenty of regulars come here and chat with each other, and the barista, which, to me, signals its a nice place. As a first time visitor, it was nice to experience that friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Also, decent number of outlets if you are looking for a place to sip coffee and work on laptop or other electronic device.

Classic Tremont ambiance, with the tight spaces for mingling and parking and the delightful commotion that that implies. Only tried the regular coffee, which was fairly priced and served without any of the chic urban snobbishness you might expect. Check it out. Youll be glad you did.

Pastry and coffee selection was okay, nothing special. Coffee was served to go in a regular Dixie cup, which made it feel more like I was drinking a K-cup than a cup of coffee from a real coffee shop. Not the place to go if youre looking for great coffee.
