Our sales guy (YAY MATT!!), was very attentive and responsive. The parts department was great too (they installed our seats, that we purchased online). When you pick up your boat, Capt Keith takes you out and teaches you the basics. I worked with Jayson Lake here at MarineMax Clearwater. I can start with the service and attention that was provided by Jayson and his team including Mike Field and Captain Keith Lake, was first class. At no time did I feel like a dollar sign, Jayson was very attentive to my requests and wants. Jayson found my ideal boat and made it mine. During the whole process Jayson was patient did not oversell and try to push a vessel that i did not want he was patient enough to find the perfect boat for me and delivered it. Mike field had the same attitude very professional and very helpful I appreciate the customer service over the inventory availability which MarineMax doesnt lack. Captain Keith was very patient, detailed, helpful and informative when reviewing all of the equipment on the boat when it came to delivery day. The great thing about this process is there will always be things that come up and he will address them right there and then. I want to thank the service crew for prepping my boat they operate in the background but I appreciate all you did installing my additional options and prepping my boat. Jose the boat was immaculate very clean on delivery day I was impressed. I can go on but you get the picture these guys are great at what they do they made me very happy. Professional and Friendly Sales and Service!Back in August of 2017, we came to MarineMax Clearwater looking for a nice pre-owned boat. We were introduced to Aaron and explained what we were looking for. He said he would let us know if he found anything that matched. Aaron called just before closing the very next day and said a boat came in on trade that he thought we would love. Aaron stayed late for us and we were able to take the boat out on a test ride. It was absolutely the perfect boat for us! We came back a few days later to take delivery of our new boat and we were treated like we just purchased a million-dollar yacht. After getting familiar with all the safety gear, Captain Keith spent time with us on the water making sure we knew how everything worked.Since then, we have had our boat in for service on two separate occasions: upgrade electronic features, add a second battery and 100-hour engine service, full detail and trailer maintenance. Each time we worked with Chris in the service department. He was excellent to deal with and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Sam performed the service, and everything was top notch. Thanks again to the great team at MarineMax Clearwater!

This is why I love this place. I signed to purchase a different boat a few months ago and needed to back out, but Jacob did not care one bit. He showed us as many boats as we wanted and always came up with a great deal to work. Thank you to Marine Max and Jacob for selling and servicing our boat. I know there are people posting reviews about the service department, but always remember as a consumer the best places to receive service are the busiest! The workmanship supercedes time when dealing with a boat.I purchased a brand new pontoon in 2015 from MarineMax. It does cost money to have a boat. I had the bot serviced at this store 3 times. They do take care of you. Initially, I had issues when first purchased, but they showed up at my house with a tech and stood behind all of their work. Steve Jones in the service department is my direct contact and has been wonderful to work with. I am working on my next boat and it will get purchased through their store!

I cant speak to whether this dealer has oversold its capacity to handle customers, or the turnover in staff is an indication of declining service/business operations, but servicing boats waterside is now taking two weeks for a diagnostic appointment from a scheduling perspective. That gets compounded and extended by rescheduling, and results in almost 3 to 4 weeks before a boat is serviced and operational. Id make sure to identify a secondary service marina that would fulfill your warranty if you are purchasing one with your boat. The staff is apologetic and polite, but its not solving my problem.

We went in Jan 2017 to buy a pontoon boat. Ended up ordering a Harris Pontoon boat and was told it would take 4-6 weeks as Harris was back logged. Long story short, it took 6 months!! Had we known this, we would of went a different route. Finally got our boat July 2017. A couple of months ago we had incident with boat and having the same experience getting it fixed. Worked with a Chris E. at first and he was terrible with following up. Then I was told that because Harris was back logged would take 4-6 weeks to even get part needed. I got tired of the customer service and called the service manager Mike N. Having the same experience with him. As of to date I have sent 2 emails and left 2 messages and can not get a call back. I am writing this in hopes that anyone is looking to purchase a pontoon boat that I would not suggest going through Harris. Was told by Harris that due to the Hurricane last September that they are overwhelmed and very behind. That did not effect the making of our boat as it was ordered way before the September 2017 hurricanes. Now, whenever we need something fixed, getting the same run around. I work in a dental office and customer service is our #1. So doing business with someone who obviously does not care about customer service, frustrates me. Maybe it is because we did not buy a million dollar boat, I am sure those people get great customer service. As of today, several emails and phone calls, I do not have any response from Marinemax so have no idea how we are going to get this boat fixed. So I have resorted to google reviews and maybe contacting the general manager. Not a very happy client!!!

I was told problem was fixed, when I went to boat I got the same error. MarineMax made me approve another work order to have another tech come down to boat. The second tech found the problem within 15 minutes and when he looked at Work the first tech performed he said none of this was needed and issue was not looked at. Now MarineMax is charging me again for fixing my boat. I don’t have problem paying for the work that was needed but they want me to pay for work that did not fix the problem or can prove he even looked at problem and just cleaned the values. Problem was a battery cable to the battery switch. Do not have them do any work unless your watching them if you have to use them at all. They are no longer getting my business.Update: worked with the service manger and resolved the issue

I went to Marinemax after quite a bit of online research, specifically to look at the boat I was fairly certain I wanted to buy. I went in and filled out the card since I had never been there before, and looked around. After looking for about 10 minutes or so, a sales rep came and found me to show me around. I told the rep I was there for a Mako skiff, but if he had something similar I would look at that as well. He took me over to the boat I was interested in, told me it was an alright boat and that I wouldnt be happy with it. He then insisted I look at a much more expensive boat, that held fewer people, and had nearly twice as large an engine; just not really what I was there for at all.I felt I had communicated my desire for a cheaper boat that wouldnt be a gas hog, and ran pretty shallow so I could get into the flats. What I got in the end was someone trying to sell me something at the very top of the budget, an engine that was bigger than I wanted, and just a generally not good experience. The problem here is that they cater to a very rich crowd, and when I walk in there looking to spend around 20k they lose interest quickly. I cant say I blame them though, I would rather make 1.5 million in commission on a sale than one or two thousand.Overall I am not happy with the experience there. I would have like to at least sat in the boat I was there to see, maybe I wouldnt have liked it after all, I guess I wont know until this afternoon when I go to Bass Pro and look at it there. (Who also sells it for the same price by the way, and gets you a 500 gift card if you buy from them)

He was fantastic, not pushy, answered all of our questions. If there was something he did not know he didnt hesitate to double check rather than telling us what we wanted to hear. We took delivery yesterday (monday) and can not wait to get on the water Saturday. We actually upsold ourselves to another boat without him even suggesting it. THat is not something a sales person would ever do. Al, was great and the captain that took us out on our final ride was amazing as well. For me pricing is only an issue in the absence of value and the value that they show is way more than the price. You have to go by there if you are in the market.

BUYER / BOAT owner BEWARE: I have not bought a boat from Marine Max but I have had to work with their service department unfortunately on 2 different occasions now and am very disappointed with the customer service and ability to do their jobs. If you are a boat owner that enjoys using your vessel this is not a place to buy a boat or bring your boat in for service. At this point in time my boat has been in for basic warranty work for over 6 weeks having dropped it off on November 8. And at this time no work has been completed on the boat. The company has no urgency to get the work done and does not do the basic parts of their job to ensure they are taking care of their customers. I have had to call the Marine Max of Orlando to get their service guy connected with the Clearwater service guy and then called Tige to get the warranty approver to get back in contact with the service department after he had already approved it the day it was submitted. The story consistently changes but the results of not completing their job does not. I was looking to be a Nautique from this dealership but have quickly changed that decision since it would require a long term relationship with the service department.

BUYER BEWARE! We have given this company plenty of opportunities to make good on our purchase and subsequent service issues with them and they have absolutely failed. We purchased an 09 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer through this Marine Max. From the beginning the broker misled us about the history of the boat. We decided (unfortunately) to go ahead with the purchase anyway after an apology was made, being assured that this was not a typical occurrence. This would have gone away had we been satisfied with subsequent dealings with this company. We had a minor oil leak that was to be covered by warranty, the company explained they needed to have the boat brought in to their shop. They had our boat for over 9 weeks. Over 2 months. They had no explanation for this and the service manager even became rude and argumentative when I asked for explanations. Finally, after several emails back and forth, his manager did step in and apologize stating that there was no reason why the repair should have taken so long. He assured me that he would look into why the boat was kept there for so long. When we finally got our boat back the carpet was destroyed by dry-rot and filthy. They also damaged the antenna. Mistakes do happen and we brought these issues to the service managers attention hoping for the best. He refused to make it right stating that the antenna was damaged already (an absolute lie) and that it was typical for the carpet to dry-rot. We keep our boat in a high and dry marina and the carpet was perfect when they came to get the boat. The antenna was not damaged. They obviously left the boat outside, uncovered, with the carpet in place for those more than 9 weeks. I am disappointed to say the least and I urge anyone considering a purchase through this company to look elsewhere. I hate to have to write this but I am so frustrated with the lack of service and honesty that I feel the public needs to know.

Buying a new boat for a family can be a daunting task, especially when you have sales staff who are trying to sell boats like cars – which is an entirely different process. Boats aren’t built like cars and options can have significant positive or negative impact on your overall boating pleasure down the road. Fortunately, the Clearwater Marinemax team has Jayson Lake, who helped me select the right boat for my family and spent a lot of time with me during the build out of a big Boston Whaler 420 Outrage. During the build process, a lot of questions came up regarding electronic components and boat options and how they would interact with each other. Jayson made sure that we always had an opportunity to speak with various experts and to make the right decision. Although that sounds easy, sometimes he had to dig deep to make sure we had a chance to speak to the right person at the Whaler Plant, Mercury, or Raymarine to make sure we ended up with a combination that would work well down the road. After delivery, Jayson went the extra mile again by ensuring that all “break in” flaws that any new boat owner will likely encounter were addressed by the right staff. Folks, boats are built in a very manual fashion due to the low volume compared to cars. As a result, things have to be aligned after delivery and you want to be in good hands at that point. Jayson was hovering over the boat as if he hadn’t even sold it yet. He gets an A+ for caring about the customer before, during, and after the entire sales process!!

I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for the people at MarineMax Clearwater. Specifically, Patrick Roark on the sales side and Bob Dinan on the service side. Please note, I own a cruiser from a competing brand and did not purchase from MarineMax. Plainly, I found a distressed buyer and simply had too good of a used option to pass up. That said, Im consistently impressed with the way Patrick takes the long view as a sales guy. We see him at boat shows, ask questions via email and txt, and hes always incredibly helpful. As such, we most certainly intend to buy our next boat from him when we trade up. If I could add another star to this review I would! Part of the warm feelings we get have are related to his willingness to help us get in contact with the right team for servicing our existing boat--again, not even a brand that MarineMax sells! Bob in the service department has been excellent with communication, providing updates, and reasonable pricing for service items. Our next boat will be a SeaRay and well be purchasing it from Patrick at MarineMax Clearwater.

If you’re buying a new boat, this is a serious must read. Enjoy!I’ve owned many boats over my 65 years. I’ve bought them from marine dealers located between Florida and New Jersey. During my experiences, I’ve learned the good, bad and ugly. I’ve brought the process down to a simple concept that works for me: “SHIPS”. It stands for Service, Honesty, Intellect, Price and, Skill. My life experience has taught me to use this simple device to help me grade a dealer when I buy a boat. Before I tell you the grade, I’ve given Marinemax Clearwater, let me share my story. Late last year when I decided to buy a new boat, my first issue was to trade in my 20-year old Grady White. Although I kept it in tiptop shape, getting a fair price for it wasn’t a guarantee. Next, at least for me, it was time to size down. My goal was to find a boat that could handle tough conditions like a champion, yet at the same time, was easy to maneuver and handled like a pro for fishing, as well as a day on the water cruising around with my wife. Another major factor for me was how much water the boat needed to float. Like many homes located on the water around where I live, the water behind my dock is extremely shallow. After visiting numerous boat dealers, I stumbled upon MarineMax Clearwater and they assigned me Brian Bocklund, Sales Consultant. Knowing my trade-in value was important, he did extensive research to find the highest price my boat sold for and sent two mechanics to my house to inspect it. They actually took it out for a ride at the end of the process conducted a thorough engine examination. When they were finished, they matched the highest price we found online, and I was totally impressed. Knowing my other key needs, they steered me two a 21-foot Boston Whaler Montauk which only draws 12-inches of water, as compared to my Grady which required 2.5 feet. Not once during the process did, they rush me. Brian visited my house and inspected my lift on numerous occasions and even recommended a lift company to adjust the lift to fit my new boat. By the way, when I finally took possession, they drove my boat to a ramp a few miles from my home and then drove it my lift and made sure everything was perfect. I’m getting ahead of myself. During the experience, I met with Mo Struder their Manager, and Mike Fielf and Al Casellas from their business office. From time to time they interfaced with the process to make sure I was totally satisfied. As I got closer to my final decision, they gave me a fantastic price and actually beat comparative prices from research I conducted online. After I bought the boat, they arranged a day on the water for my wife and I with Captain Keith who spent time with me to make sure we understood every nuance about the operating the boat and the electronics. Small things count too. They also made me feel special with gifts that I received by choosing to buy the boat from them. This brings me back to my boat buying acronym, “SHIPS”. Of all the boat dealers I’ve purchased boats from over the years, Marine Max excelled and surpassed everyone goal I had: Service, Honesty, Intellect, Price and, Skill. Their service department is extraordinary, nothing less than you would expect from the largest national boat dealer. They will actually be picking my boat up from my dock for service and returning it. Honesty was demonstrated throughout the process, a rare thing today. They are highly knowledgeable and have an extraordinary intellect in terms of all thing’s boating. They made some custom enhancements that really made the boat perfect for me. Lastly, there’s not a more expert company you can buy a boat from. From a very satisfied MarineMax customer,Paul

I purchased a new boat from Marine Max Clearwater in 2015. A sailfish center console which I initially was very happy. I took excellent care of it and left it in a dry dock and was flushed and fully washed down after each use. Within 6 months the boat had signficant rust damage. I notified marine max and they said they would take care of it. I continued to trust them and had my boat annually serviced there thinking they were on the up and up and would take care of the rust as it was under warranty. They led me on for over 2 years and it still has not been taking care of!!!!It gets better, they have the ballz to send me a $500 bill for an oil change even though they have not taken care of their responsbility. They have sent me to collections regarding this issue. I have no problem paying for the oil change, as long as they honor the warranty. To sum it up, once they get your money you are just another sucker. I have been working with Aaron Abel for a few years now, I know I drove him Absolutley insane over the last 4 years being unable to decide what I wanted . One day I wanted to fish, the next day cruise , the next day live on the boat. He could of sold me anything over the last 4 years, but I do believe he wanted to sell me something I would love and I just could never get there until now. Took delivery of a 2019 32 sea ray sundancer and could of never been this happy with any other boat. His patience to find me the right boat that fir both my needs and my wants has now made me a marine max guy for life ( as long as Aaron is there ) thank you everyone at marine max for the service ! Purchasing from you is worth every penny

I had a good buying experience and have had great service and communication from them since the purchase. I worked with Patrick Roark on my purchase and he was amazing. He was patient, knowledgable, straight forward and easy to deal with. In fact, I probably wouldnt have bought a boat if it werent for him. A+ experience so far.

MarineMax charges a premium for their boats and their service. Ive found out the hard way that is wasted money. Neither MarineMax nor Boston Whaler stand behind their products. If your boat has no issues, youll be fine. If it does, Ive learned that MarineMax wont stand behind the products they sell. I wont be back when I upgrade.

I encouraged my friend to purchase a brand new Sea Ray from Marine-Max in Clearwater. The staff was so great until he had an issue. Two weeks after the purchase the stainless steel on the bimini began to rust. He cleaned it several times and it came back worse each time. Marine-Max said they had an issue with several of these and would get it replaced. Now after 18 months, they tell him to bring it in and he can pay to have the rust removed. Of course, it is now pitted and is a constant headache. This is a horrible way to treat a customer. Ive owned several Sea Rays but I can guarantee my next one (soon) will not be through them.

Couldnt be happier with the new G23 Nautique we purchased from Aaron Abel at Marine Max. Aaron, Mike Field, and Colin Heimensen made sure that everything was perfect and delivered as promised. This is our second G23 Nautique purchase from Marine Max and Aaron went above and beyond. Thank you!!!!

Id like you to know what happened to my brand new 260 sundancer while being repaired at the Marinemax facility in Pensacola. This is by the way the second boat I bought from Marinemax, but I can assure you it will be the very last. Our boat had some issues with the dynamic running surface. Sea Ray had Marinemax of Pensacola get the boat from our very secure dry storage facility in Niceville (14 June ) to run some tests on the 15th and 16th of June. After the testing Marinemax stored my boat outside and uncovered (even though there was a cover in the cabin of the boat). Marinemax called last Thursday (22 Jun) at 2PM and told me that the boat had tipped off the rack due to high winds. (See pictures below). We checked and the highest winds encountered that day were about 40 mph gusts. How that could knock over a 7,000lb boat that was properly placed on a bunk is beyond me. We asked what time they had discovered the boat and they said 9AM.......so why didnt they call us earlier? They said damage control. Meanwhile there were no other boats on the yard that were tipped off the rack.Bottom line is that My boat was in Marinemax possession, to be fixed at the request of the manufacturer. You had an obligation to treat my boat with the same care that it wouldve gotten at my marina. Marinemax had days to prepare for this tropical storm, and yet did nothing to mitigate the risks. They didnt drive the boat back to my secure dry storage after the testing, they didnt try and put the boat inside their dry storage facility and if they couldnt do any of those things then they shouldve put side supports on the boat. They didnt care. They did however care about my insurance carrier, the first question they asked was whos your insurance carrier? Can we contact them directly? Fred your regional guy from Marinemax made no apologies or offered to take care of this.Notice the boat next to ours with the side supports. Notice how it didnt tip over? You guys should be absolutely horrified at how Ive been treated. Shame on you guys.

Very bad experience! I bought a sundancer one year ago and wanted to trade up recently. Marinemax offered me a trade in that was so low that I am embarrassed to say that I bought the original boat from them. I have now learned that Marinemax has overcharged me on the original boat. I understand a little bit of depreciation, but this was ridiculous and has caused me great concern. I caution anyone heading to marinemax to beware of their pricing and trade in tactics!

The people are terrific but the Mercury Engines they pedal are horrible! Mine left me stranded with less than 10 hours on it. It continued to have issues for nearly 3 years until I myself had to find what was wrong. It was fixed but continued to run like crap. I tried to swap the motor for a Yamaha but Marine Max wanted more than $6000 difference, really?? Just as others have said, if youre not there spending about a million dollars you get the feeling theyre just putting up with you. If I had to do it over again I would find a local dealer who sells one or two particular brands of fishing boats and deal with them. Not a huge corporation raking in the money at all costs.

I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a boat at MarineMax Clearwater. I traded in a boat of good value and in good shape for a boat of essentially the same value and essentially the same cost. The overall cost of the transaction was minimal so I can assume that the commission was also minimal though I couldnt tell by the service. If you go, ask for Matt Haines. The entire experience was excellent. From the first phone call to the close of the sale, it was seamless and easy, how buying a boat should be. The truth of the matter is though, trading in your boat for another thats across the state couldnt have been easy.I had tried other smaller dealers prior to MarineMax and was swindled by all. Prior to approaching MarineMax, my boat was valued by others at literally half what MarineMax offered and for no logical reason. My assumption that a large company like MarineMax wouldnt be willing to cater to a, lets face it, smaller value transaction was completely wrong. I am very impressed that it was the contrary. Judging by the service I received through the entire transaction youd think I bought a 150 foot yacht, and not a used 23 foot fishing boat. All in all, I highly recommend them. Ive never posted a review online before this but Im motivated to do so in this instance because I feel that their hard work and professionalism should be commended in some way.Excellent performance, MarineMax Clearwater.
