I LOVE this store!!! Staff is always super friendly and helpful. I get my fabrics here all the time because of the gorgeous quality, reasonable prices, and I love to support local business. Its a win win.

Staff is excellent! They have a huge selection, there is no way you wont be able to find what you are looking for. Buying online is virtually impossible given how much variables there are to fabrics and the fact the pictures are never accurate, so Im glad I walked in Habermans - made the experience of choosing the right one so much simpler.

This is the very first review Ive ever writen, but had to write to say how friendly and helpful the staff was when my friend & I visited the new store yesterday. Especially liked looking through the designer bolt ends. For those of us that like to sew - so we get something that fits, I would highly recommend you visit Habermans in Clawson.

I have been shopping at Habermans since it was in Royal Oak. You cannot beat the quality of the fabrics sold there but what I especially love is that the employees are actually knowledgeable about the world of sewing and they will help you no matter your need

Formerly located on Main Street in Royal Oak, Haberman Fabrics is the best place to shop for fabrics & has a large variety of buttons to choose from whenever you are looking to add a little flare to a pair of pants or an outfit.

I love this fabric store! My Grandma made me 2 beautifully quilted Christmas Tree Skirts and since we moved and I changed our color scheme, I needed to find someone beautiful fabric in May for a pie-shaped Christmas Tree Skirt! After going to 5 stores, (on our way) to Habermans, YET AGAIN, ONLY Habermans had the most gorgeous fabrics by Jacqueline Smith! I had to special order 2 yards each, but it was completely worth it and I cant wait to see the finished product!!!

I’ll start by saying that I LOVED the old location in Royal Oak. It was one of my favorite places to go, and I’d spend hours there. I finally made it up to the new Clawson location, and was extremely disappointed. It’s small and feels run down by comparison, and the selection is dramatically less than the old store had. Sadly, I won’t be back. Totally devastated that I lost my favorite fabric store. I’d much prefer to shop local, but guess I’ll have to order online from retailers since the new Haberman’s lacks a decent selection of fabrics. Really, really sad :(

This was the only legit fabric store in metro Detroit...before they moved. Still the best place for quality fabrics, but it seems like theyve pared down their selection quite a bit, and also dont offer much in the way of necessary basics. Only one small display of thread :(

I love this store!. The other option as a sewing professional is to get on a plane and shop In NY or England if youre looking for a vast selection for high-end suit wools. $$$$$ + airfare. Do they have all fabrics in the universe? Nooo!. Imagine, if that would be the case that building site should be as big as an airplane hangar. But, they have an amazing well curated selection. About labeling, its clear, concise and the staff goes above and beyond to get it right with burn test. Customer service is extraordinaire, the staff knows how to sew!. They love what they do and it shows.

This is the place to go when youre looking for high quality natural fibers and unique laces and sequins!!!I found the staff to be both well-versed and very helpful in all my sewing project related questions.Also they offer sewing classes! What a great way to be more than just a store and really build a community!!!!

Ive been shopping at this store for many years before they moved into their new location and the staff is amazing which they knows who i am when i call sometimes. They have a different vibe and selection of fabrics and items. Just love it.

Im a long term fan of Habermans; but, this was my first visit to the new location. I was not disappointed! They still have sensational special occasion fabrics, many unique fabrics throughout the store.My adult daughter and I had a great time going through the racks of 7th Ave cut lengths. I bought 6 pieces. Cant wait to start sewing; however, I need patterns. (sigh)Definitely worth the trip, even with I-75 construction.

Excellent quality fabric! Upbeat, passionate, skilled sales staff. Yes, they sew! Bonus rolling racks with cut yardage from New York. One never knows what youll find. This is where the professionals go !!! Now you know the scoop. Im a dressmaker and this is where I shop for my clients. Dont worry if your not an experienced seamstress, because the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Just ask for help with fabric selection, and even take a sewing class if interested.Tip - This place is very busy in the high season and fabrics get snatched up very quickly. So remember ladies No biting, kicking, or scratching !!!

Great collection of gorgeous fabrics!

I am so impressed with how knowledgable the staff is. They take their time helping you select fabrics and notions. I took the Bog Coat sewing class last week. I learned many new things. The instructor was so pleasant and patient. I couldnt believe I completed the garment in one session. That was due to the organization and effeciency of the instructor. I wish there were many more classes because I would sign up.

Came for some fabric prior to a wedding event. Store is well stocked and organized and everyone obviously cares about the customer experience. I imagine a person can spend quite some time here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only drawback was the limited reading material at the waiting area but oh well.

Misleading signs and overpriced fabric are in not in short supply. If this store is further away than your local JoAnns save yourself the trip. My biggest issue is the signage. For example, they have a display which advertises 100% cotton however the first and second fabrics I touched were polyester blends. Not to mention the wool section which is mostly plastic

They have an amazing selection of upholstery fabric. I was able to browse through an astounding number of samples and was inspired by the displays. Our salesperson, Jill, was so helpful and knowledgeable that it made the experience that much better.

The store didn’t seem to have as much selection as I had hoped. There’s a lot of lace trims and glittery fabric for prom dresses but the price is only okay. They do have embroidery and appliqué trims and the staff is helpful and provided a great list of local seamstress and what they so I am very grateful, but unfortunately they did not have the trims I was looking for.

This store has amazing fabrics! If youre making a formal dress/ wedding dress come here! They have everything youll need. They also have a lot of home dec fabric swatches for special ordering.

A fabulous experience! My daughter & I came to the store to find fabric to enhance & augment her Gammys vintage gown, circa 1955. The gown is tulle, lace and silk in a creamy dusty yellow color. Haberman Fabrics was the only place I could think of that might be able to fill the bill. Natalie came up to us and asked to help us. Boy! What a great sales associate! She listened to my daughters ideas & vision for the gown and suggested a few different bolts. With Natalies help, we found the PERFECT fabric! Thank you Haberman Fabrics, thank you Natalie.

Nice selection. There are multiple sections for wedding dress fabric, home fabric/samples, apparel, etc. They seem to have a sewing machine repair area too. Im giving four stars instead of five because the prices were very high, and I also didnt have any interaction with staff, so I cant rate the full experience. It seemed very nice, though.

But if you want exquisite luxurious Fabrics you wont find it anywhere else unless you travel to New York City garment district.They have a beautiful selection of Bridal fabrics and laces which you also wont find at Joanns. I love this place Ive been going to Haberman since they were in Royal Oak and Im glad someone bought the name in inventory and I dont mind traveling to Clawson to get just what I need. I have been shopping at Habermans for a good 10 years and LOVE IT!!!!!! Fabulous material, extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff every time. Recently when I had a problem figuring out how to lay out a pattern, I went there for help and the manager herself spent time with me and was so very kind and patient. It is the ONLY place I buy fabric!!!

First, big hug and thanks to Cindy. I came in with my daughter who was in the middle of a project-gone-wrong, and embarrassed to seek help. Cindy made her feel so good, encouraged her, brainstormed solutions and taught her about sticking with it and finding a solution.Beyond that, it is an ocean of beautiful fabrics, and a wealth of really knowledgeable staff who have always been happy to help. It can be dangerous though...there was the time I went in to buy a button and came home with a new sewing machine...

I have visited this store twice in order to purchase material for the wedding gown my sister is constructing for me. The first time I went, the trip was okay--nothing special about it. The second time however, was extremely frustrating. I arrived at about 7:45p, with ample time to make my selection before closing time at 10p. I waited 10 minutes for help (after asking for it when I first walked in) and even after an employee finally came around, she didnt meet my needs. I gave her the item description, bolt numbers, and cost per yard, but she was unable to find the silk material I needed. At first it was fine (inventories can become depleted, I understand that) but the fact that the employee was rushing and not giving due diligence made me want to look myself--so I did. Twenty minutes after the initial interaction, I found the material I was looking for--additionally, the employee did not assist me in choosing another (comparable) product after failing to locate my selection. I strongly support buying local, but I will not be going back there. You would think that when a customer is looking to buy five yards of a material that had a list price of $70/yard, youd at least get their time of day.

If you want bridal fabric or special garment fabric this would be a great place. If you want home decor fabric -meh. I came for the large selection of these on bolts but that is gone. Not worth a drive for me. Also brick and mortar stores have to offer service to compete with online shopping. When I picked up my order the woman I asked to get my fabric seemed quite put out that I was interrupting her task. And she couldnt find my order so I waited a while. Not that big a deal but I an apology for the wait or a thanks for the order would have added to the Fun of driving 45 minutes to a real store.

First and last experience was horrible. I spent 15 minutes in the store and there were an abundance of employees. I was not greeted or welcomed upon entry. The cashier saw me pass by and did not greet me. However, I noted that two women coming in after me were greeted. I browsed and passed by employees, none of them spoke. I felt it kind of weird because you would think that at least one employee would have said hello or greeted me. I was extremely disappointed.I must admit that while the store offers quality fabrics, I will not be spending a dime of my money where I can not even get a Hello or Can I help you?...You should teach your employees customer service is owed to every customer. Its unfortunate because I felt I was being profiled and discriminated against because I was an African American woman coming from the gym. If this was not the case that is how it came across. Very unfortunate experience, and they lost out on major business as I work for a very successful business in contant need of large amounts of fabrics and textiles.

Not only does Haberman Fabrics offer an incredible and beautiful variety of fabrics, their customer service made my design and sewing of my debutante dress a pleasurable experience. They went the extra mile to make everything perfect. They enjoy what they do and really care about their customers.

The staff gives you invaluable sewing help. This is the best place to go when you are stuck on a project.

I can’t say thank you enough times to Patty and Stacey for being so helpful. I am a decorator in Winston-Salem, NC and my go to fabric store here told me after more than 6 weeks of placing an order.... they could not get the fabric for me. I needed 18 yds for 2 clients and both color schemes were planned around this fabric.... one project with existing furnishings and one furnishings had been bought to go with the fabric. I was very upset when I got the call.... I took a deep breath and said a prayer.... it a little long to fill in the rest of the details but God lead me to Habermans where Patty answered the phone. She found and ordered the fabric. She and Stacey were so helpful and kind. The fabric arrived yesterday and now I can get these much awaited window treatments completed for my clients. Thank you!!!.... very professional and kind to work with!

The fabric choice is too die for in this place!!! Of course they have some expensive fabrics they are a premium fabric retailer, BUT to my surprise they have GREAT clearance selections!!!! I strategically chose the expensive faux leather fabric for some dining room chairs that I am using in a salon renovation and $5.00 per yd. Fabric for a waiting room sofa.....Also I had help and enthusiastic guidance throughout my process!!!!P.S.Joanne Fabrics have even more expensive fabrics for no reason🤔WONDERFUL Experience WONDERFUL!!!

They certainly have a large space and a variety of apparel fabrics. However, I was expecting more and in more contemporary and classic styles - and the prices were a bit much. The staff are helpful and cheerful

Nothing like the store use to be prior to their move. Not nearly as many fabrics as before, very few patterns to select from and most fabrics are not for make items to be worn on a daily basis. If your looking to make a prom or wedding dress your in the right place, otherwise go elsewhere.

Sorry, aint what it used to be. Pattern selection is miserable. store is good if you are looking for bridal or evening goods, so-so selection otherwise.

When I went to buy oil cloth for a project, an extremely pleasant and personable young woman began to assist me. Although my entire transaction could not have taken more than 20 minutes twice during that period some barely polite supervisor(?) came up to us to point out to the assistant that some other customer was waiting for service. It was a different person each of the two times that spoke with her and they were condescending and treated her as if she were slacking. I was embarrassed at how they treated her. Presumably either one of these two overseers could have waited on a customer rather than picking on a conscientious worker. The fabric I wanted was there but the weird atmosphere made it an unpleasant experience.

I was recommended to Haberman Fabrics for lace for my wedding dress. The women that helped me was wonderful! You worked quickly to find me the perfect lace and was very helpful!

Easier location for parking than the original Royal Oak location. I also loved the charm of that store- with the wood floors and nicely cluttered feel.

I ordered a custom bridal veil for my wedding at Habermans. We worked with a woman named Judy who was incredibly knowledgeable and patient as she helped me design a veil. They have a large amount of fabric/lace for bridal sewing projects, whether it be for a veil, dress, accessories, etc. If youre looking for a veil, especially a long one such as cathedral, look into custom veils at Habermans! If you know someone who can sew for you, it turns out to be less expensive to do custom than to buy in bridal salons and much more special on your wedding day!

I have stopped in a few times, thinking that maybe my poor experience was a fluke. It wasnt. The staff are RUDE and the selection of notions is laughable. I was never once greeted by an employee and saw a customer treated poorly when they asked where the Liberty fabric was. I REALLY REALLY want to enjoy shopping here. It could be such a treasure but I have found zero reasons to (and that says a lot coming from a fabric addict). Sadly, Habbermans makes me not feel bad about shopping at big box stores and on the Internet.

I purchased fabric a couple of weeks ago for a client that I make stage clothes for as she is a singer. She chose a different fabric for me to use. Now Im stuck with 5 yards of fabric I cant use because I couldnt return it. I wasnt offered an even exchange either. I wasnt told that it was a final sale at the time i bought it or I wouldnt have bought it. I was told today that I shouldve seen the signs posted all over the store that they dont take returns.

I am not happy with Habermas right now. I was led astray thinking I could take my daughter in there and no matter which wedding dress fabric she picked they would be able to get that fabric for her. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. After spending 1hour looking at fabrics she finally made a decision only to be told by the employee they could not order anymore of that fabric. And we continued to learn that there were many fabrics not available to us. Habermans you should probably say that up front to a bride!! Shame on you...
