I came here to pick up a rented viola for my 9 yr old. The customer service was better than expected with the gentleman explaining everything clearly to my son concerning care and play. What REALLY took it over the top was when we went to leave and my car wouldnt start. He spent nearly an hour after they closed helping us out trying to get my vehicle started, I eventually had to call in reinforcements. The BEST part was he came back to check on us and brought us back drinking water just as my help arrived.I will never forget the above and beyond customer service they provided outside just simply renting a viola for my son. This was human decency and compassion. They truly deserve 10 stars in my book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great old building, great service, good place to rent equipment, even with damage they just swap it for a working instrument and they even tune it for you.

Outstanding and reliable service. We have been working (renting & taking care of instruments) with this locally-owned business since 2013 and have consistently been impressed with our instruments and the customer service we have received. Highly recommend Baroque!!!

I came here to get some new strings, a shoulder rest, and a bow for my violin I haven’t touched since high school and Mike did an excellent job helping me! Not only did he make a sale, but he made sure to be informative about the do’s and don’ts with my violin, and showed me how to change my strings and what to watch for. Thanks to him my violin is ready to go on the road with me to Tennessee State University!

Fabulous place to see if you like Violins, Violas, Cellos, and bass. Violins are the largest component of this shop. It is much larger than you would expect and the range and selection of instruments is mind blowing. Mike gave us a tour of two of their buildings, one is the administration area which the house was built in 1805. We enjoyed the knowledge and history explained to us in regards to how a violin was made and created. My daughter was impressed with the range of violins she was able to try, and while we were tempted to buy one while there on this trip, we felt that we need to spend more time here to select one. The staff are super friendly and nice, and really make an effort to accommodate what your in search of specifically or assist in ooi thing you towards what you may need. We definitely recommend visiting, and we are planning to make a return trip back so we can spend more time in order to make a selection.

*edit* Returned to the shop to replace a different string on a different instrument. We were taken care of immediately and felt like valued customers. Again the staff gave us what we needed and offered us additional value in showing our kids some of their amazing instruments and some of their history. Wonderful above and beyond service.(Original review)Went to get a string replacement for my sons 1/2. We were greeted walking in the door and the man sold us a replacement string, put it on the violin, tuned both of our instruments, and gave us a wealth of useful information about our instruments (which we dont even rent from them). All for $18. Wonderful service.

Rented a violin from this store for a program put on in my daughters school. They came to the school to fit everyone and make sure that they had all of the equipment but at the end of the school when the program was over for the year, they wouldnt come back to the school to pick up the instrument. So my options were; allow them to continue charging my credit card, mail the violin back at my own expense or drive 45 mins one-way to return it. Seems like a money making ploy to me. Will not be renting from them again and will let the program know about the issue with the company they endorsed.

Damaged my violin. Took it in for a simple bridge replacement, came back with a 1-inch gouge through the finish into the wood. The gouge appears to be from the E fine tuner. Evidently they werent careful with it, didnt disclose it even though it is very noticeable, and left it for me to find. Aside from lost appraisal value, I now have to pay a reputable place to repair it.

They are knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Im a newbie cello mom and they answer all my questions without condescension. They replaced the string that broke for free. This latest visit was an idea i had to get through a cello rebellion with my 5 year old. I decided to rent a cello for myself as well, so we could do the practices together, and they were again very patient and helpful. I love this place!

After playing rentals from other places, I still didnt find my sound. After a friend told me about her experiences here, we took a 24 hour road trip from Chambersburg, Pa. to try out violins before I gave up playing altogether. We took a spur of the moment road trip, 5 people in a small car to Ohio. The tour was wonderful, but the best part was Paul taking about an hour or so answering questions and teaching us.Afterwards, he took out 3 violins and left my friends and I to do a blind sound test to help me find my sound....for 45 min.Needless to say, I found my sound! After traveling about 7 hours up until 1 am, we spent 3 hours at the shop and then traveled 7 hours back home.Paul is professional, knowledgeable, and very pleasant as was the gentleman in the store who gave us the tour.I have spoken with Michelle (from the warehouse) several times. Each time, she has been very helpful and knowledgeable.Out want until I got home and watched a video about Paul that I saw how passionate he is about providing good, quality instruments in schools to encourage them in their playing. A student/ beginner level rental is at an intermediate one.We only briefly met the other people who were working on violins. Considering the quality weve experienced, I am impressed. Employees in any business will do good quality work when they like who they work for and in a positive work environment. Why the mention of travel time and the small car? To show what a good reputation will do and emphasize that whole trip was well worth it? TOTALLY!!!If I decide to get a higher level violin, Id takethe trip again.BTW, we all played the Stradivarius!

Baroque is a family owned business by Paul and his sons. They travel extensively around the world to aquire the best hand-made bodies. The first time I tried one when moving up my daughter from a Suzuki violin, the difference was night and day. Paul gave me a very reasonable deal on a full-size instrument so I could accompany my daughter as she learns. He also gave me a full appraisal for tax purposes to help with the older suzuki model we donated to the Wyoming School for Fine Arts. Rental prices start at $16 a month - very reasonable. We have had a few new strings break, but new ones are free with the rental. Overall great service and appreciate the work Paul does in the community to support musicians.

Now a family heirloom is gone and theres nothing I can do about it.

I ordered expensive handmade violin fittings from Italy for my violin and asked Baroque Violin Shop to install the fittings. While doing so they ruined the pegs which had to be reordered from Italy. The end button was sloppily shaved and was sticking out. The set came with Kevlar tailpiece cord and they installed a cheap plastic cord instead. In my 30 years of violin playing, Ive never experienced such poor workmanship and integrity in handling the situation. Baroque Violin Shop may be fine for cheap student violin rentals, but if you have a nice violin, dont let them touch it. Horrible experience and nightmare.
