Good experience so far. Took my car for a broken exhaust pipe and I mentioned I might need a new muffler. It should have be easy to say ok if they wanted my money to install a new one, but the guy said it is still good. This goes to show theyll only work on what needs to be done and will not take advantage of their customer. They charge fair price. Ive been going for exhaust repair at a cheaper place but you get what you paid for. Work seems solid and the mechanic will show you what has been done to the vehicle before driving it out of the bay. Waiting room is small but there is an outdoor shed if you dont want to wait inside the office. Restroom is decent. Stuff were friendly too. This place has earned my business so far.

These guys are great especially FIDAN.They are honest, fair and get the job done right. Ive taken my Audi by them 3 times and was completely satisfied with the work. If youre in a hurry too bad. Its first come first serve and they abide by that.

I went in for a flex pipe, and the guy at the desk said theres a two-hour wait because they are behind on the cars from yesterday. Even though on the phone he said to head over and there is not a big wait. After we said, thats what you told us on the phone, he proceeded to yell and cuss at us. SUPER Unprofessional. I took my business to mediha mufflers instead and got the job done in 45 minutes.

These guys were amazing and quick. I own a 2003 Corrolla and they have had to do 2 repairs so far and both were amazing. They also gave me a oil change and they also replace your filter. They provided me with a affordable price and a quick repair with good quality.

Was told an hour for an oil change, waiting over an hour than asked how much longer and was told the guy is going on lunch break, what a joke, horrible customer service

I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and his son as the dedicated team welded my catalytic converter back in place after a failed theft. Everything about this place is Awesome. Ive taken my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer LS to see Matt and his team and every problem Ive had with my truck has been fixed and running like new. Matt is reasonable and fair on price and he is very honest guy. He does not play games with anybody. you have a problem, take the problem to him and he will fix it. I Have NEVER EVER had to return to windy city with my truck and argue with Matt about something that Matt or his team screwed up on. Matt is my best friend and always will be. I called the day before to get a quote on replacing my brakes. Dropped my car off the next morning which was quick and easy even with three people ahead of me. Got a call back a couple hours later with the diagnosis and another call back an hour or so later telling me the car was ready to go. The total price tag was the same as the quote; no hidden surprises. Friendly and courteous service from beginning to end.

Honest people - saved me $900 when another place quoted me over $1000 for a simple welding job. Ive been back twice since. Extremely quick service and VERY reasonable prices. The only mechanic I trust in Chicago.

This service center used to be a dependable and reliable place where you can take your car and not be scared to get ripped off. Now, after building customer trust, their service has gone down the drain. It is all about ripping off the customers who blindly bring and leave their cars because most of them still think they are getting a good service at a reasonable price at this place. I was one of the loyal customers. Until I started noticing that every time I brought my car to this place I had to replace something and paying big bucks, even if the part was recently changed and in good working condition...! Plus now, they talk to you like you need their service but they dont need you as a customer. My recommendation is, if you have a choice, find a newer more reliable service center thats building their clientele.

This is my first review. It takes a lot for me to take the time to write a review about a place, and let me tell you, Windy City Muffler & Brakes is a great place to take your car.First off their oil changes are reasonably priced ($19.95) and they are FAST. Im usually in and out within 20 minutes. They are friendly and helpful and there is free coffee while you wait.But recently I had to have my muffler replaced, as well as my front and rear brake pads and rotors. He quoted me (including parts and labor) at $450 for the brakes and $110 for the muffler.The thing that really struck me about this place is that if they find something else wrong with your car they will take you into the garage to show you. I know that it helps them turn a smaller job ($) into a bigger job ($$$) but I appreciate the fact that they show what is wrong with your car. They found that my brake fluid was leaking on one side. They said that they would just charge me for the part and not the labor. They also bled the system so there are no bubbles in the lines and even changed my tail light for free. In my mind they went above and beyond their job. I definitely would go back and suggest that you do too.

Matt at Windy City Muffler is an amazing guy. I highly recommend their place. A lot of repair places charge you unnecessary amount for scanning your car to tell you what a check engine light means. At WCM they offer you a free scanning and the prices are fair to both customer & the business. I was able to make this video and share it with my fiancee whos car I was here to get fixed. Impressed with the professionalism. I was gonna work from a cafe while the car got fixed, but the service center also has a Free-WiFi and Coffee, which I am making best use of while writing this review :-D

Love this place. Honest, reasonably priced, great customer service, and great work. I have a 99 Durango and on the fence about fixing or getting a new used truck... Matt the owner was very detailed on what my truck needed with no pressure of fix this and fix that. Matt provided me with his cell number and guided me through problem solving. Trust the reviews on this place! My check engine light came on and my car was chugging pretty badly during acceleration. I dropped my car off, they called about 2 hours later with diagnosis and cost, finished the work by the end of the day! My car is running perfectly smooth now and I am pleased with the work. They also provide a 1 year guarantee on parts and labor which means they stand behind their work. I will definitely continue bringing my vehicle here!

They are rude to me every time I call to ask for a SIMPLE quote and not answering me. Using the tactic to bring me in. When I call every other shop they give me a quote and dont make me feel like .....

As far as I am concerned when my car needs repair the very first repair shop I call is Windy City Muffler and Brakes. The service and helpfulness and knowhow is excellent. And they can perform a lot more than what their name says. The prices are reasonable, they are honest, and their skill is worth your taking full advantage of. Also they work on a first come first serve basis. So call them or just stop in to be pleasantly surprised.

I live nearby and never had a need to use their service until now. This morning I called and asked about how long of a wait. I was told about an hour so I drove over. I left my car and walked home, received a call about 45 minutes later and was given a very reasonable estimate. I told them to go ahead with the work and was told my car could be ready in half an hour. Bottom line, fast friendly service, reasonable price, and no over sell. Ill be back.

The ONLY shop you will find that is honest. I have taken my car to their shop a few times and it was such minor work that involved removing a defective part or tightening something down and they’ve done it free of charge. Would highly recommend.

A jiffy lube told me my front brakes were needing replacement. Went to this shop and they told me the front brakes were only half worn. Honest guys.

I was at the shop a while ago with my BMW. They replaced my muffler for an aftermarket one that they recommended to me. I picked up the car after like an hour and paid the ballance. I didnt like the sound of it so I got back there a week later to put back my original one. I still wanted to keep the one they sold me. They charged me extra 50$ for the mounts that they removed before and didnt give me back. I was talking to the young guy that was in charge and I told him why didnt you give me my old mounts that were still good? and he couldnt answer my question and said they probably threw them away and either I pay for the new ones or Ill have to drive out with no muffler... poor service. I live across the street from them and I could give a local business more customers but after this situation Im staying away from this place and not recommending to anyone.

Its my first time to bring my car to Windy City Muffler because of rattling sound on my muffler.I read all the good comments from them thats why i decided to bring mine.They found a little piece of metal that touches the muffler itself and did detouches it.The owner didnt charge me at all.I am a living testimony that these people are honest,fast and know what theyre doing.So my forthcoming services i will be back again.I strongly recommend their shops.

Ive been a car owner in the Chicago area since 1999(been to several Chicago area auto repair shops): Windy City Muffler and Brakes is the best auto shop to bring a car for repairs that I know of in terms of a sound/honest business and doing a good job. I havent had recurring problems after any repairs. They dont upcharge: was expecting my last repair to cost a lot more. They take the time to explain what repairs could be done at a later time versus what repairs have to be done for the reasons the car was brought in. Thanks for your help, and your business.

This place seems a bit run down and has very little parking space. However, for the price you pay, it is very reasonable. I got a brake fluid exchange job for $60 where other places would charge over $80. If you dont mind the wait, this small car shop is worth it.

Do not trust these guys! This used to be a great shop. We took all 3 of our cars there for everything from oil changes to repairs for about 7 years now. The father, who was a very nice, honest man, must have recently retired and now his sleeze bag son is running it.Not only did he try to up the price $200 dollars from the quote he initially gave us (good thing we kept the quote!), they left our car on all night. So when we came back to pick it up Sunday as we planned (they were closed, but knew that is when we would) we came back to a dead battery. We have a recent recall we need to address where the ignition button sometimes has to be pushed a 2nd time to turn the electricity off. We told him that 4 different times (no exaggeration!) because when we stopped by to grab something while they were working on it they had forgotten to turn it off and we caught them, so stressed again they needed to make sure it was off so we didn’t come back to a dead battery. Did they? Apparently not, otherwise they left something on because the battery is 3 months old and fine once jumped. Which we had to run around and do after just getting back in town and finding it dead.Additionally, I said we had a spare key so would pick up our key we left with them that Monday. Instead he left it in the glove box. Since we have the keyless start, anyone could have driven away with our car with the key in the glove box.One of the worst parts for me is that all he had to do was say sorry. Accidents happen. Instead he didn’t even call me back and when I confronted him again he insisted they turned it off and said it was our fault because we hadn’t addressed the recall yet! I wasn’t asking for compensation or anything. And we made him well aware they may need to turn it off twice. Not to mention you’re mechanics...you don’t know when a car is still on and what will happen! Complete jerk and totally shady. I feel bad for his dad who built a great business to have him run it into the ground.

I had a great experience! I called Tuesday afternoon to setup an appointment for leaky exhaust. I was advised to show up first thing in the morning. Within an hour and a half my car was done at a good price by friendly people.

I got oil changes for 10 years here with no problems.Then it was taken over by the cousin of the original ownerI went in for an oil change and was told I needed $1000 of work on my car that I was later told was absolutely not needed.but worst of all they broke the cable that holds the front hood down on my car.as I was driving home 2 blocks after I left the hood blew up blinding my vision and nearly causing an accident.when I looked I could not fasten or secure the front hood.I spoke to the owner and he said he was not responsible for breaking it.it was working before I went inAnd was so badly damaged when I left that it put me in an unsafe situationwhen I explained to the owner how dangerous this was he had no concernhe told me to go somewhere else and could not help meAnd that if I believe in Godthen God is laughing at meAfter 10 years of loyalty this was how I was treated

Everyone is friendly. But the owner will try to sell you things your car does not need. He told me that my car needed new rear brakes and new bearings, but I couldnt afford it at the time, so I said Id bring it back when I had more money. A month later, a different garage mechanic told me that the breaks and bearings were fine, not even close to failing.A few months later, WCMB owner tells me that I need a new control arm and ball joint - even walked me under the car to show me. Guess what the other mechanic said? Nah, these will last you for a few years.Like I said - everyone is very friendly. But this place is taking money from (at least some) customers that isnt necessary to the health of cars serviced, here.

Brought the car in as the AC was not working properly. They said that the freeon is full, but the compressor is bad. They said they are not certified to repair hybrid compressors and charged me a very small fee for the diagnostics. I appreciate the honesty as it is impossible to find any honest mechanic nowadays
