The best place to go to for the best professionals to work on your car.Their prices are fair depending on the problem with your car and they were also let you know if theres something else that you didnt point out about your car and will suggest to get it fixed.I will recommend anybody to go and get the car checked out by them.

This place was amazing! I destroyed my catalytic converter and was supposed to leave on a road trip a few days later. The insurance company gave me the run around saying it would be a few weeks but they got on the phone, pushed it through and had it all done in a day. They even fixed my radio no charge. I was able to make my trip. So grateful to them and would highly recommend them to anyone needing work done. I appreciate you guys! Thank you for getting us on the road again.

When you drive past Fair and see a line in front of the door at 7:30 am when the business opens at 8, you know they are doing things right!We have been taking our automobiles for many years to Fair on Western. Scott is very knowledgeable about the business and is very honest. Just recently, our catalytic converter was stolen and Scott worked with our Insurance Company to get it replaced immediately.Bob, Scott and the Team are the best!

Very fast and efficient work. Recommend me to a very affordable tow guy and even replaced my starter for much less than what places were offering. The towing and the starter replacement was much less that why many places near me were offering to jus replace but with the towing and replacement and fast work it was worth the money and I wit for sure! 100% recommend!!!

Was quoted far too high than other shops.UPDATE: Called to get a quote for a simple oil change and was quoted $40 for regular oil while the Toyota dealership charges $37.97 for a full synthetic oil plus inspection and alignment check. Also, when I called you never asked for my name or any other information.

Breaks, batteries, oil changes, tune ups, filter replacements, electrical/computer, and headlamps replacements.Scott and his crew are prompt, professional, certified and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain what the issue is and the available options. On ocasión, they had me bring the car back a few thousand miles later because a repair wasn’t necessary yet. I couldn’t tell, but they’re the pros and earned my trust. They’re proud of the work performed and their reputation in the neighborhood.

Hey everyone,I have been a customer of FAIR COMPLETE CAR CARE at 7001 N. Western since 1996. The service and professionalism is spot on. Their prices are very good and done well. I highly recommend them for all your car repairs.

After losing my driver’s license inside my car door (at no fault of my own) and not wanting to deal with the DMV due to COVID, I called Fair. Fair is in my neighborhood so this is why I cold called them first. Scott answered the phone and made me feel comfortable and not foolish about asking if they could remove my inside door panel to retrieve my driver’s license. He said it’s not unusual request and that people lose their credit cards inside their car doors. He explained he could assist me the very next morning. I arrived at 8a, Scott told me that due to servicing other cars it will take about 3-4 hours. I left my car and he called to tell me he had my driver’s license at 10:45. Yes, I could’ve easily went to the DMV and spent $15 to get a replacement license but again due to COVID I didn’t want to stand in line after line for hours. The professional, friendly, efficient and fast service I received at Fair was worth the $78. Thank you Scott!

I have been a very satisfied customer of FAIR since 2008. I have a 2002 Buick Lesabre and over the years it has needed work done, especially as it has gotten older. Having FAIR near to where I work has been very convenient and the reliable staff has allowed me to feel comfortable that my car is in good hands. The staff has always been good about figuring out what problems exist and explaining them so I know exactly what is going on and what steps need to be taken – I have also found them to be very honest which is important when dealing with car repairs. Most recently my car started idling rough and it was not accelerating well; it was so had I wasn’t sure if my car would make It to the shop. I did make it and Scott, and the rest of the FAIR crew, got to work. They eventually diagnosed that I had a severely damaged intake manifold and faulty ignition control module. After several hours of repair my car was running like new and I was, thankfully, able to take my car home the same day. Considering my car is 18 years old I’m sure this won’t be the last problem it will have but at least I know it will be in good hands when the eventual problem happens. I would highly recommend bringing your car to FAIR Complete Car Care.

If you don’t know much about cars this might not be the place for you. I needed to have my car repaired after towing it in, the problem it was towed in for was a simple battery replacement (after talking to the dealership), which they did but they told me I had a much larger problem with a warning light. They pressured me into fixing the warning light problem which cost over $1000, they said if I didn’t do it then I would have to wait a long time and I would ruin the car. After two months the same warning light came on and the problem was a simple fix at the dealership. They told me I almost certainly didn’t need the repair that fair performed and dealership fix was about $150 (which fixed the warning light). So be aware if you don’t know much about cars that you might get taken advantage of.

I cant recommend Scott and the team at Fair Complete Car Care enough!I have taken my car there multiple times now for large and small repairs and will never take it anywhere else. Prices are better than I could find anywhere else, service is fast and reliable, and they are so welcoming to everyone who walks in their doors. I have yet to walk out of there without a smile on my face, even when the repairs were more than I expected. They are one of the best neighborhood shops I have ever been to!

In the multitude of years I have been driving, I have never found a more reputable and honest repair shop as Fair Muffler. They have always been extremely friendly and very competent. The mechanics are intelligent and always make sure I know what is wrong with my car before proceeding with the repair. I have been using their shop for over ten years and have never had problems or complaints with any of the staff, service or prices. I have been driving for over 35 years and taken my car to several repair shops. Every one of the other shops Ive used has been an ordeal I wish to have never had. I certainly do not desire to have car repairs, but when I do, Ill always go to Fair and nowhere else. The owner, Scott, has always treated me with respect and makes sure I am well informed about my needed repairs. To say they are Fair is a gross understatement. They are more than exceptional. We brought our car in for a new thermostat and tune up a couple months ago. They were quick, thorough, creative, and reasonably priced. They explained everything they were doing and all the charges.Recently we noticed a burning smell coming from under the car. Fearing a faulty belt, we brought the car in this morning. It turns out we ran over a very large plastic bag that was now melting. They put it on the rack and used a torch to clean it off. Best part, no charge!We will enthusiastically rely on Fair for all our future maintenance needs.

These are my guys, plain and simple.The staff is knowledgeable, down to earth, and do what they can to keep things affordable. Their work is timely, professional, and reliable. BS not included. Car problems that other mechanics spent days failing to diagnose, were identified within minutes of me walking through the door to Fair. And on the rare occasion that my car was possessed by some manner of winter demon, they spent hours a day for three days looking into the cause and verifying that it was safe to drive, with no bill attached.Very much a neighborhood spot, this is where I will always go as long as I can reach it. This is where my family has always gone for multiple generations of cars. And for as long as the quality of service stays where it is, I can’t imagine taking my ailing car anywhere else.

I have been going to Fair Muffler for over a decade now. Of all the mechanics Ive been to over the years, I find that Scott and his team are the best of the bunch. Not only are they extremely knowledgeable, but they are very detailed - and down to earth - in their explanations. Theyre also very honest. If something needs to be done, they tell you. If it doesnt, they tell you. The first time I went there was for a second opinion, and much to my surprise Fair Muffler ended up saving me a bundle of money on work that I was told needed to be done, but that didnt really need to. All that was required was a minor adjustment. Ive been going there ever since, and as long as I live in Chicago, Ill continue to go to Fair Muffler for any work that needs to be done on my car.

I cant say enough good things about this place! Ive had my car worked on here twice and have been happy both times with the results and the cost. Most recently, the night before my boyfriend and I left for Ecuador, his Jeep was overheating. As we had a plane to catch, we left the Jeep parked in front of our house. Not really knowing what to do, I called Fair Muffler from Ecuador and they gave us guidance, towed the vehicle, took a credit card payment over the phone and had the vehicle ready to go when we came home. I will always bring my car here and would recommend Fair Muffler to anyone.

Great experience. I took my car in because of a rattle when going over bumps. I was called a couple of hours later to say a part just needed tightening. No more rattle! Id been there before and also had a very good experience. They are my new go to shop.

EXCELLENT !!! This probably THE most trustworthy repair shop I have ever been to. My car failed the emissions test. They did a complete test, gave me options so that I could try the least expensive fix first (my car is 12 year old so I did not want to invest a great deal), no hard sell whatsoever, very honest. They also did a follow up diagnostic at NO CHARGE and I ended up oassing my second emissions test with no problems. Scott is wonderfully honest and friendly. I would never take my car anywhere else.

The other day Firestone told me I had four brake lights out and I found this odd since Scott had replaced four only a month ago. I declined and went straight to Fair. Long story kinda short....I had taken my 2013 VW to the dealership to remove some keyed lug nuts and the dealership insisted they evaluate the brake wear notification despite my ask to, not concern themselves. The dealership quoted me $707 to fix the brake harness. I left the dealership and drove my car to Fair Complete Car Care where Scott looked at the brake wear notification. I did not tell them what VW found. Scott came back and said it was the brake harness and it will be $225 without tax to fix. AND they ordered genuine VW parts...the same parts as VW had to order. I had my car back the same day they got the part. Needless to say, ALL my auto work will now be going to Fair Complete Car Care.

Highly recommended. They found another mechanics’ shoddy work and fixed it for me quickly. My truck drives great now!I just got my first vehicle and I knew it needed work just by driving it. I didn’t feel safe driving my daughter around in it. My mother suggested I take it in to Fair to be checked over. They immediately found some major safety issues that needed resolved and I left the truck overnight. The next day when I picked it up I could tell the difference in how smoothly it was driving. I also needed an alignment and they recommended a place where I got a discount. Unfortunately, right after the alignmen, the car started missfiring and the check engine light came on. I took it back to Fair. Scott had them run the computer scan and quickly found the problem area. Upon inspection, they found another mechanic had used the wrong bolt on one of the parts, so it wasn’t seated properly. They changed it to the correct sized item and I am very happy with my results. I appreciate the fact that even though I didn’t know much about Vehicles, the mechanic drove around with me and showed me the parts and explained why they were necessary to be repaired.Now I am driving my family around in my “new” used truck confidently. Without fear that there are any safety hazards or parts that are going to break down on me anytime soon. Even though I live in the suburbs, I will return to Fair for any future needs. The staff made me feel comfortable and treated me like a regular. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I now have a good reputable mechanic in my contacts.

Careful going here if youre young / look like or is a student. Im fair-ly sure I got ripped off here several months ago. Ended up handing over few hundred $$$ for an unnecessary new part and diagnostic that wasnt even the issue (real issue was covered under warranty after visit to actual dealership service). Not completely sure if they even gave me anything new at this point. R.I.P.TL;DR You might get taken advantage of if they know youre a student.

Let me start off by saying that I am naturally suspicious of mechanics. After a few years I start to feel ripped-off and find a new one. The fact that Ive taken my cars to Scott at Fair Muffler for almost 15 years says a lot about the place.The Fair team takes care of all the routine maintenance and repair on my cars, which have mostly been Hondas, Toyotas and Hyundais. The manager, Scott, will be the first to tell you that he likes American cars, but he and his team are fully able to care for all makes and models.One key point that makes Fair a great choice -- they will tell you when you need work done, and when you dont. If they cant do the work they will always recommend someone who can. And for small stuff, they often will not even charge a fee. I think I get fair value for the work they do for me, but they are not out to nickle-and-dime you to death. I think this is one reason the shop is always busy.Fair is also fast. Its very rare that I have to even leave the car overnight for a repair.Im glad I dont have to look for a new mechanic all the time.

I knew that buying a BMW would be more expensive as far as repairs but Scott and the boys at Fair Muffler did me a solid and what would normally have been $1700 to replace the fuel pump for my turbocharger he managed to save me $400, IF he hadnt done that I would not have been able to afford to get my car back. FYI when I bought my car at Auto Match they sold me the primary plus warranty which is a huge waste of money it covers absolutely nothing. So, if you were going to buy a warranty get at least the ultimate plan that covers nearly everything for any reason. Now the repair on my car would probably have cost $3000 at least if I brought it to a BMW dealership so Scott and the guys save me a lot of money. A few days later I could smell gas in my car, I brought the car in and Scott help me out by replacing in ordering free of charge, and Im very thankful because I really dont have the money to pay for any more work, and exchange I writing this honest review about Scott and Fair Muffler. Firstly, trust is the most important factor when you Bring in your car to an auto shop. But honestly I can say that Fair Muffler did a great job and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks so much to Scott and the boys at Fair Muffler, and no they dont just do mufflers did you complete car care and at rates that are less than most places you can find in Chicago.

They wont sugar coat when you have a problem, but they wont do any work without your say-so. They did work on my car, and it turns out they installed a faulty replacement part. Rather than making up a story and charging extra, they owned up and made it right at no additional cost. And when there was a problem that needed to be fixed for emissions testing, they brought it in to the nearby testing center for free!

This car repair place in my neighborhood is a must for all car owners but especially those in west rogers park. Every time I stop in for a problem they address it immediately and with honestly. Manager Jeff Floss is a mensch. Thanks guys for always taking care of me!!

It is a comfort and relief knowing when there is an issue with my 2006 Toyota RAV4 I can get an honest and straight answer from Scott and his team. I have been taking the RAV to FAIR for three years now for oil changes, brakes, warning lights, flat tires, etc. I had been taking the RAV to a Toyota dealership for service. My wife finally convinced me the dealership wasnt worth the price being (over)charged; so, based on the recommendation of her retired mechanic, we tried FAIR. Best recommendation ever! Scott is knowledgeable, a pleasure to deal with, and very social (the conversations alone are a reason to become a regular customer). Excellent service at a fair price with no up sell. Scott and his team are highly recommended!
