Finally drove to Chicago to meet Mr. Julian Baumgartner here at his amazing studio where he has stages for all the pieces he restores. His workspaces are neat and tidy. He is so genuine and obviously very gifted. He treats you as if he has known you for years. It is a beautiful thing to see a masterful hand continue today as his father once had done years prior. Julian is a wealth of knowledge and we are anxious for his hands to restore our paintings.

I love watching the YouTube videos. They’re incredibly relaxing as is Julian’s voice (should read bed time stories!) The work is amazing and his ability to colour match might qualify as a superpower

With how well this man works with a scalpel when restoring paintings I should try to get my eyesight restored here, 10/10 work

I had seen their restorative work on YouTube so I looked at their website. I would use their facilities IF I had items neexing restoration AND I was living in the Chicago area of the USA. Otherwise it would be highly impractical.

Not only does Julian do amazing work, but he also documents the process in detail on his YouTube channel. The filming and editing is documentary quality, and better than a TV show. You get to know the personality of the man doing the work on your painting, and you see the true high level of his craftsmanship. Excellent content from an excellent business. God bless you friend

Julian restored a portrait from the late 1800s for me. The painting came out great, and you can see that he is very skilled at what he does. There were two small areas in which he forgot to inpaint, unfortunately they are on the face of all places, but luckily they arent super obvious.My main complaint was the lack of communication on his part through the process. On two occasions, I had requested that he not do something very specific to the painting. When I received my painting back from him, I immediately noticed that he did exactly what I asked him not to do. (the artist signed the verso of the stretcher and wrote the name of the individual in the painting. Julian nailed the tacks and new lining right through the artists handwriting) I politely emailed him to thank him for his work and I expressed my disappointment. I never received a reply.

Julian is very laid back, but he does terrific work. He restored a large 1920s family heirloom portrait and frame for us. It wasnt cheap and it wasnt fast, but it was done with expert care. I highly recommend Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration.

Julian is a literal god who uses his powers to restore paintings to their most beautiful original concepts. I would rate higher if possible.
