Beware, staff is super nice when you are in the dealership, catering to you an even getting follow up calls when you havent even left the dealership, BUT once they sell you a car they wont move a finger for you.The sales man gave me diff totals, once I was in the finance office numbers kept adding up > typical of car dealers, right?My big issue is no one will call me back, the car I bought has some issues that of course are now fully my responsibility (only had the car for 5 days) + the contract has extra items that I dont want and had said so before leaving the dealership > the finance guy told me I just needed to contact the bank > the bank tells me they need paperwork from the dealership > I have called 3 times and I am still waiting for a call back (I am 2 weeks in now)... Hopefully this review triggers a call back and a positive resolution.

After totaling my Highlander a week and a half ago, I was traumatized and overwhelmed, especially with the current used car market. I previous leased and purchased all of my vehicles from Hendricks, and really loved the service they provided. But Chris V. at Carolina Volkswagen really set himself apart as he took the time to send us a personal video of the vehicle and expressed interest in meeting us by name. The entire experience there was hassle and pressure free, and the price and warranty offered was impossible to beat. We got there a little after 12, took a test drive, and the sale was closed in around two hours. They even gave us pizza! I love the fact that they’re a family owned business and they treat you like more than a commission. Definitely recommend to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

I bought a 2019 Jetta there in January. The salesman told me that it was a one-owner car that was owned by an elderly couple. After I purchased it, I found out that it was a fleet vehicle, meaning that it was a rental car. I never would have bought it if I knew that it was a former rental car.I just called to see about getting service for this car, and ironically the person who answered the phone was the one who sold me the car. I gave him my VIN number and he said This shows it is a National Car Rental vehicle out of New York, which confirmed my suspicions. Before you buy any car from this company, make sure that you do your research and carefully read the Car Fax. The salesman did not share this with me, which he was supposed to. I had to find it on my own. I will never purchase another car from this dealership.

My friend bought a car here, and we had a great experience. We called Donell looking for a specific car after another dealership sold the one we were looking at from under us. Donell held the keys for us, and was a dream to work with. First off can I give higher than 5 stars ? This dealership has been God sent. I worked with the Stokes Volkswagon in Charleston SC and it was horrible. I moved here and had the mindset their all the same. I was completely wrong. I was stuck in a car lease that I did not know I had being the last salesmen told me I was purchasing my car. The sales manager Danny, omg he was amazing and made you I left happy not only did I get out my lease I purchased a 2020 Tiguan no lease a 0% interest. Want he do it ? They are super patient, understanding and kind. Understood my frown meant business but I was smiling from ear to ear once I left. And they partner with a lot of companies do my employment took an additional $500 off. Come on now !!! Get in here and do business with them. My sales Guy was Mr Albino he was amazing thank you so much if I didn’t tell you enough this week.

Extremely Dissatisfied.I purchased a car here I believe May 1st, a 2017 Jetta. When I bought the car I was told everything worked perfectly, no accidents and that it was under a certified preowned warranty that Carolina Volkswagen certified themselves. A few weeks after I purchased it, I found out that the heat didn’t work. 6 weeks after purchasing the car, my AC went out. I called the service department, made an appointment, and took it in. I explained in detail what was wrong with my car and the service department rep. did not understand what I was telling him at all. They then took 3 hours to run tests on my car to come and tell me that they couldn’t fix it under the warranty because there was an after market part in my car. They then charged me for running the tests and told me they would charge me to fix the part. I was very angry. My father called them and got them to promise to replace the part for free under the warranty, which they should have done in the first place. I then went back 2 weeks later (mind you I have now gone about 4 weeks no heat and broken AC). My father called the service manager Chris and told him I was on my way and explained the situation again. Chris said he was ready for me. When I arrived, Chris had me explain the situation again and did not even know what part was being installed in my car. He then told me that it would take about 3 more hours to fix because they were running behind and they had to do more work on my car. 3 hours later I left only to find out that my AC still did not work. I waited a few days to make sure, but the issue was not resolved. I have now wasted 6 hours and 2 days of my time on a service department with subpar service and no understanding of how to ensure customer satisfaction. I then called the general manager Richard 2 weeks after my last appointment because my car still was not working. When I spoke with him he was very dismissive and pushed me back onto the service department and told me to bring the car in for them to fix. I explained again that I felt the service department did not listen to me and that they did not fix the car the first two times I was there. He then told me to make an appointment and the department would call me back. My father then called and the manager was very dismissive with him as well, not wanting to take any action towards compensating us for their lack of service or selling us a car with non factory parts after certifying it, he tried to dismiss our case and push us back to get our car serviced with them. I am extremely disappointed in the service departments lack of knowledge and inability to fix a simple issue, and I am also disappointed in the fact that I was sold a certified preowned car and then told afterwards that it had non-factory parts in the car. The general manager does not care about customers at all, and I would never buy or service a car with this dealership again, and I would advise anyone who is thinking about buying from them to go elsewhere.*UPDATE*I took my vehicle to German Imports who was able to diagnose my issue within 30 minutes of having the vehicle. The issue was the compressor and the fans were bad. This should have been caught in the precertification process and when I brought my car in for repairs. There were no after-market parts in my AC as we were initially told. The repair was costly. It is my belief that the dealership knew the compressor and fans were bad and did not want to absorb that cost under the warranty they gave me.

If there was an option for an 1/2 half star I wouldve chosen that!My daughter who isnt experienced with servicing her car brought her 14 TDI Passat in for a check engine light diagnostic. Anyone familiar with the VW diesel emissions scandal should know that any emissions related issues for that car are covered for 10yrs/123k, even the cost of diagnostic. They said initially that she would have to pay the 135 diagnostic fee and that the EGR valve, (part of the emissions system) was bad, but that was due to something not covered by warranty and she would have to pay 885.00 to get it fixed. They said the looked to see if the emissions warranty applied to her car and that it did not and no repairs were covered.Only after I leave from work & show up at the service dept did they search and find that the emissions warranty did apply to her car. Mind you that this search can be performed from a smartphone so why a dealership couldnt find it is beyond me. I discovered that the part that was said to be the source of the problem, was also under warranty after speaking with VW customer service, contrary to what I was told by the service manager. This is the abbreviated version but so many lies were told I couldnt list them all.Disappointed isnt a strong enough word to describe my experience today. Integrity is shown in doing the right thing even toward the inexperienced and even when you THINK you can get away with it. I will never recommend this service department!

Went into Carolina Volkswagen this morning and had just the worst experience possible. I called this past Friday to make an appointment for a new tire and rim. The girl I spoke with was very nice and I let her know the situation and what I needed. Never in that conversation did she ask me if I knew which rim etc... in order for them to order the correct one. I just assumed they knew and would order as I shared the type of make/model/year car I had. That should have been my warning. I went in this morning and the man at the front desk was just extremely rude and not customer service focused at all. Essentially turned it on me, saying it was my fault that I hadnt told them to order it. Shouldnt that have been the assumption on Friday when I made the appointment? I gave them the information, and they are the experts, not myself. Then he insinuated that I wouldnt be able to afford the rim and tire. At that point, I asked for the type of rim I needed and for my keys back. When it comes time to purchase another car or have any additional maintenance, I will most definitely not be going to Carolina Volkswagen

Do not believe anything they say, will not stand behind their word. They are a bunch of crooks. In fact, avoid any dealership owned by Dr. Renaldo.

You know that they dont have your best interest in mind. That is just a fact. Proof - $280 for a key. I dont buy that it is going to take a hour to program a key. And I surely dont see the key costing more than $10. I am ok with you charging me 3x the cost of the key. But $140?!? Really?

I recently purchased my second pre-owned Jetta in a year here! (My young adult son finally wised up and sold his expensive sports car!) Loved the personal attention from the ENTIRE staff! Compared prices in not only Charlotte, but also Atlanta, and couldnt find a better deal! The transaction went so smoothly that I kept expecting a glitch to pop up. It didnt! Vehicle plates arrived in a week! No call came that financing conditions were being changed. So different from horror stories I have heard and experienced from other dealerships. I highly recommend the team at Carolina Volkswagen on Independence Blvd!

Please avoid this dealership at ALL cost. Dan and Vinny will make a mistake and then lie about it. Never once did they tell me the car needed to be towed to the dealership to get a new key made. Instead of refunding the 150 paid to get the key made, Dan said tough luck. I will be contacting corporate to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else.

He is such a good listener and he made good on his promise to communicate my needs to his team members. He really went above and beyond by spending time with my six-year-old son while my partner and I made phone calls, finalized the paperwork, and took time to weigh our decision privately. I was so grateful and so truly impressed by the customer service at this dealership. We also worked with Chris Viton, who was an enormous help while we got insurance quotes. He answered all of our questions about the leasing process and was very thoughtful and kind during the entire process. We worked with another Chris who actually completed the transaction for me. Having recently moved to Charlotte, coming to Carolina Volkswagen was simply an attraction to a certain Atlas model Ive been curious about. What I didnt expect, was to feel immediately part of the sales family from the moment I walked in. The culture that Danny is setting forth is one that I reach to replicate with my own team. His entire sales floor, including Richard who followed through my whole sales experience, were courteous, professional, and made sales what it can be - fun! Honestly, I wish I had a reason to come back...and not just for the free carwash. Without a doubt, this sales team is impeccable. You will not be disappointed, but know that your chances of walking out with new keys in your hand are extremely high!

I wish I could give ZERO stars. WORST service in the auto department. TOTAL CROOKS! I have been going to this VW dealership for 4 years. I only get my car serviced by the dealership. I scheduled a routine oil/tire change and planned on spending the $100.00.I went in for my service and after reviewing my car I am told by the front desk attendant that I SHOULD Have had all this work done on my prior visit. I SHOULD HAVE had a bunch of filter changes, spark plugs, brake fluid flushed and I was told I needed to NOW spend $700+.WHY wasnt I told on prior visit that I needed the critical items changed and I would have said YES. In hopes to spend $350 at that visit and then informed I would need additional services at my current visit. This would provide me the opportunity to budget.THIS is entirely VW responsibility to provide ME the customer the correct information. I am PAYING for this customer service.I spent 11am to 1:30 arguing over this cost and how they should split the difference with me since this was on their end. I asked to speak with the owner of the dealership. I was denied access to speaking with them.The autopart manager was trying to justify and started debating me on my cost of my SHOES!!! I understand what MARKUP IS SIR....and I bought my SHOES for HALF the retail cost. What does that have to do with my CAR?? SHAME ON THIS DEALERSHIP.....I was given a basic 10% discount and I told them they have LOST my business forever. DO NOT GO HERE!!! There are other VW dealerships and local business that will be HONEST!! THIS PLACE IS NOT!

My family and I have bought over 13 cars from VW in a 10 year span. This week we had the most disappointing experience with this specific dealer and sadly, that will be the end of it. We will no longer give our business to a place that lied straight to our face to make a deal and then gave us the run-around saying someone mispoke when that deal was made; this was a very deceptive business practice. We were brushed off without a single apology on their behalf to customers who stood behind them all these years. This dealer has been lacking for several years now but the staff they have at the moment has got to be the worst. It doesnt matter how many times they gut the place down if they keep hiring morally questionable people.Now they are going to reply asking us to to talk to their General Manager but unfortunately, he did nothing to help this situation when we directly called him before. Please, do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else where they actually value you as a customer. Years of being faithful to Volkswagen didnt pay us well.

Couldnt recommend Chris enough. His knowledge of the vehicles hes selling is impeccable. He answered every question my husband and I had about the VW Atlas. As soon as my feet hit the parking lot I was wanting to see the numbers. No sense in looking at something I cant afford. He jumped right into that and didnt try to push us into the top trim level like a previous dealership had done. He was personable yet professional. The dealership negotiated well (my husband even got some pizza out of the deal haha). To be honest my husband was not a fan of VW brand but Chris and the dealership were able to give advise and statics to back up the VW brand. We left very happy with a 2021 Atlas SEL.

My husband and I worked with Val and Danny and they BENT OVER BACKWARDS to help us get into a new car. They got our rate low and helped us keep our monthly payment low as well. It was such a pleasure to work with them. We came to the dealership after working with someone else at a different dealership and the experience was so much better here, we had their full attention and we even kept them after closing (so sorry) but they were so cool about it. Will definitely bring my car back for service and everything in the future.

I visited within the last week. I had been in communication with Richard Albino as I lived out of town. He was great! Very down-to-earth. I found a vehicle in my town that I purchased, but Richard did not make me feel bad about it. Went searching for a new car. My wife and I found a Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg Edition it was a nice car. We went home and looked the car up online and found out the car wasn’t available. So my wife and I decided to go to Carolina Volkswagen and check their inventory. Glad we did. Once we arrived at the dealership we got out and started walking around looking at cars. After a few moments a salesman came out an introduced himself. His name was Chris Harmon. Chris turned out to be the consummate professional. We told him our story, and what we were looking for. He listened attentively asked a few more questions then led us over to the Passats. After looking at the New models we walked over to the Certified Pre-owned and there it was, a Passat R-Line w/Comfort Pkg. a really nice car. We took it for a test drive as well as an SUV and fell in love w/the R-Line. The rest is history we chose the R-Line. Through the whole process Chris didn’t try to pressure us or hound us into buying a car. Thank you Chris.

I LOVE THE TIGUAN I BOUGHT FROM RICHARD AT CAROLINA VOLKSWAGEN, and I loved my experience! Car buying is stressful!!! But Richard Albino provided excellent service and made my buying experience so smooth. I just relocated to SC from NYC during the pandemic, and I dont know where I will ultimately live, however, I do know that I likely will only shop at Carolina Volkswagen for my future cars. A solid dealership with great deals. The pros - they took care of me after their salesperson miscommunicated the deal we reached, and on a separate occasion they comped me for patching a tire after an unfortunate puncture. You can tell they value customer satisfaction.One star removed during COVID because most the salespeople Ive seen have been walking around without a mask, and I overheard a few other employees goofing in the corner with some inappropriate conversations among themselves (think either politics or religion -- not appropriate within a customers earshot). Nitpicky, but worth noting.
