I took my C3 Corvette to Joe some months ago for a general diagnostic and a transmission fluid leak. I drove my car in - running - and left the lot a couple days later on the back of a tow truck. In general, it was a very frustrating and costly experience. What I did receive for my money was a transmission hose replaced, going to the radiator. My desire was to stop a leak that I suspected was coming from my transmission pan gasket. Joe said there was no leak there, but he did find a leak in a hose going to my radiator - which he replaced. When I scheduled a pickup time, Joe said it had a really bad skip and I may not want to drive it home. I didnt think much about it because it normally skips a little until it warms up. He was insistent that I may not want to drive it home with the skip. Joe said it probably needs the gas tank drained, or there as a collapsed line - a lot of work to get it running. I reminded him that I drove it there with no problems, and I intended to drive it home. When I picked it up, he let me know the list of repairs needed. A restored would costs approximately $75,000 - for a $12,000 (at most). Thats when I started for the door. Again, he let me know it had a really bad skip and needed gas poured in the carburetor to start, which Id never had to do before. But, I not only needed gas poured into the carb to start, it needed gas poured in constantly to run - making it undrivable.I pulled the fuel line, turned the engine over, and showed him there was no fuel pressure. I suggested checking the fuel pump while I was there - because I drove it in, and wanted to drive it out. He could put it on the lift and give it a quick check. He once again let me know what an expert he was on Corvettes and the fuel pump wasnt the problem. (He also said he didnt work for free - I had already paid the bill). He said it was likely a clogged/collapsed fuel lines or the tank needed to be dropped and cleaned - expensive repair. I again reminded him I drove it there. My friend who drove me there to pick it up, said You need to get your car out of this place, and I agreed. My friend and I PUSHED my car out of his garage, into the rain - the same garage I drove into. Joe did offer to steer. I called a tow truck and had the car delivered Ashburn Tire and Auto for them to take a look - a general mechanic. After an hour labor, I got a call saying my car was ready to pick up. He found the fuel pump hanging by the hoses, and there were no bolts holding it in place. He replaced the bolts and the car ran fine. The mechanic also told me I have a leak in the seal of my transmission pan - which is what I originally took it to Joe to fix! I drove it home, and have driven it occasionally since.Im sure Joe is a nice enough guy, and he does know his Corvette trivia. However, I cant recommend him because of my experience. I had 2 long discussions with him after I got my car home, and he just doesnt see where he did anything wrong. What we fundamentally disagree on is customer service. If I were in his place, there is ZERO chance I would allow car that was driven in to my shop, leave on a rollback- zero! He didnt even offer to pay for the rollback. What amazes me is, this could have been quickly solved had he put the car back on the lift and checked the fuel pump. Instead, I heard the speech on his knowledge of Corvettes and how my car was hardly salvageable.Granted, my car isnt a pristine everyday driver - not even close - but its my car and its at least drivable. Its a simple car with no complicated computers of todays new cars. This was a simple fix and the negative experience could have been easily avoided. What prompted me to write this post now is Im getting all the work needed to make it more of a dependable daily driver. The mechanic I have now is much more reasonable in his prices and have so far done a great job. The bills for their work is MUCH less than Joes verbal estimates, and Ive never had to pick the car up with a tow-truck. Im sure Joes reply will excuse his inactions.

Joe has worked on 3 different Corvettes for me a C1, C2, and C3. Joe knows Corvettes. Just replaced gaskets for oil pan and transmission on my 1969 bigblock along with the rear main seal. Thanks Joe I have no more leaks on my garage floor. Also after hearing what some of the other Corvette shops are charging I wont take my Vettes to anyone else.

2015 Corvette Stingray Z51, 3LT, w/ 40k milesTruly awful service experience from Corvette Motorsports and Joe (the owner). DO NOT take your Corvette here!I picked up my car from Corvette Motorsports on May 1, 2020. Services I had performed included:Replace front brake pads and rotors, brake fluid exchange, replace coil #5 and spark plugs, transmission fluid exchange, and replace all 4 shocks. Price quoted was fair and Joe came off as knowledgeable via email initially. After picking up my car and beginning my drive back home to DC, I expressed via phone call to Joe that there was an extremely loud rattle coming from the rear left of the car during my drive home. There was also a large scratch on my leather dash that was not present before dropping my car off with Joe. I’ve attached the picture for reference. There were also boot scuff marks on the inside door panels. To this, Joe responded, “Mystery to me…All I did inside was drive the car..One hand on the wheel, the other on the shifter..Try some cleaner on it perhaps it’s just a smudge of something.”As far as the rattling, Joe expressed that he didn’t know anything about it, but he’d be happy to take a look as he offers a “12 month/12k warranty” on all of his work.I knew during my drive home there was no way I could possibly bring the car back to Joe, warranty or no warranty. He had clearly proven himself an incompetent/incapable mechanic by handing me back a car that sounded like it was going to fall apart ($3,800 later), leather damage included in that price.. I needed to take my car to an actual CERTIFIED Corvette technician. Never making that mistake again…Once getting back to DC, I decided to drop the car off at Jack Winegardner Chevrolet that same day to get a second set of eyes on the work performed. I’ve attached their invoice for reference that details exactly what they found…“Customer states rattle coming from left rear while driving (Customer states struts and shocks replaced at another facility) Performed diagnosis, checked suspension, nothing loose. Removed left rear interior panel, found clips not secure, clips and retainers missing. Reinstalled clips, retainers, reinstalled panels, NOISE REMAINED. RECHECKED SUSPENSION. FOUND TOP BOLTS AT 35 FOOT POUNDS. SPECS ARE 74 FOOT POUNDS. RETORQUED REAR SUSPENSION. COMPLETED RETORQUE ON SUSPENSION AND RETEST. RESOLVED CUSTOMER CONCERN.” Labor: $420.It turns out the shocks were not installed and torqued to specs (74 foot pounds) by Corvette Motorsports, thus causing the rattling! It took the dealership 4 hrs to pinpoint the cause of the rattle, but I’m glad they did!The service manager at Jack Winegardner Chevrolet recommended I forward the invoice to Corvette Motorsports and should be able to receive a $420 credit since they did not perform the services properly and to spec. Joe, of course, declined, and stated his “warranty” as the reason.Joe’s “12 month warranty” and “fair” prices hold ZERO water when he doesn’t actually know how to service your car to spec! He torqued my shocks down to only HALF the foot pounds they required! Maybe he is better with C6 and older corvettes? Certainly, don’t even think about taking a C7 to Joe! This is not his field of expertise. On top of it all, the scratches in my leather dash and scuffs on the door show a general lack of attention to detail and carelessness.Again, prices appear fair, but TAKE YOUR CORVETTE ELSEWHERE! You truly get what you pay for here. Avoid the frustration, lost time, and future expenses of the incomplete work.

I recently bought a 75 corvette which is somewhat of a project car. Took it to Corvette Motorsports and Joe (the owner) spend quality time letting me know what exactly needs to be done and what he can do himself.picked up the car and it runs smooth and Joe has done a great job putting it back together. These days you dont find an honest mechanic specially someone who works on specialized cars like Corvettes. Joe is one of a kind, skilled and trust worthy.

These guys are the best!! I took my C5 Corvette to Joe for some aggravating electrical problems... I tried the dealer who kept my car for two weeks and was unable to isolate or repair the problem...Not only was Joe familiar with the problem, but he knew what it was going to take to fix it right..It was a simple fix and I also had some upgrades done as well..I am VERY thankful for finding this shop and I totally recommend any Corvette owner that is interested in quality service, to check them outH

Joe is a very professional Chevrolet Master Mechanic. My 1998 Vette has had many electrical issues and has sat on my driveway for the past 7 months due to a bad BCM for starters. I had the car towed to Corvette Motorsports and Joe met me and with through the problem scenarios. He spent the time to call and update me every step of the way with my C5 Corvette. He went above and beyond and I have a Corvette mechanic for life now. Even though I have other Corvette specialists near me, I will go out of my way to have Joe work on my car from now on. I drove the car out of Joes shop and it drove better than it ever did. I have future plans to make some custom mods and I guarantee the car will be sent only to Corvette Motorsports. Cheers to you Joe!!! One of a kind. 5 stars all the way.

If you own a vette in the NCR this is the place to have it worked on!——6 jul 18Had Joe do an overhaul on my c-3 power steering. Outstanding work once again.

Took C5 in for oil change... bring it home and it leaves an oil slick. Took it via flatbed to a transmission specialist in Frederick MD (look them up) who put it on a lift then laughed. Oil filter improperly installed... pathetic. Take your baby elsewhere... these guys dont care.
