I have only positive experiences shopping here.I love their backcountry meals selection and have happily fed myself for several trips with them.I purchased my newest pack from them with confidence after the fitting and weight testing I could get done in store.Budget conscious people may not stock themselves with everything available in store however I enjoy supporting local and paying a bit extra to do so.

Great store for picking up quick items. Would shop here more often if they didnt change their membership rewards...its no longer worth it to spend alot of money here since if you dont use your rewards in 30 days they now expire. Ive lost pretty much every reward dollar thanks to their new system. So for big ticket items I shop with REI since they dont hold a gun to my head to use reward $$$.

Great local store in the Dayton area! All of the employees are super friendly and excited to help you in whatever outdoor adventure you have planned. They are a smaller store, so they dont always have a huge availability of products. But they still have a ton of great choices. Consider shopping locally before traveling the 45 minutes to go to REI.

Great Miami Outfitters recently helped me turn my 2012 Toyota Tacoma into a sweet overlanding rig! They handled the purchase and install of a Yakima rack system, a rooftop tent, a basket rack, and an awning.My wife and I took it out for the first time to Babcock State Park in West Virginia and it was awesome! We were comfortable and the gear performed flawlessly. The expert installation made using all of the gear a breeze.If you are in the market for anything from clothing to kayaks to car camping gear, I highly recommend Andrew and his team at Great Miami Outfitters. Their attention to detail and killer customer service will keep you coming back. I live close to a Cabelas, a Bass Pro Shops, and an REI, but I will gladly drive 30 minutes to Great Miami Outfitters from now on. And you should too. Youll be glad you did.

They can show you a product and tell you what its used for but are not permitted to show you how it is used. This place is too politically correct for me. What a shame.

Great people. Went in last minute for a backpack for a hiking trip to Glacier. I was fairly set on one but they recommended a few others and loaded them with weight for me so I could test them out. Ended up buying a totally different one that worked out AMAZINGLY well. 10/10 go here.

I got the information I needed to make the best purchase, ideas for future gear and assistance with installation. I highly recommend and felt it was well worth the 3.5 hour drive.

What I like:Great Miami Outfitters has a great selection of high quality gear, and have the capability to get pretty much anything that you need for a trip. I enjoy the fact that there is a small business in the area that caters to the outdoors. The staff is knowledgeable about what they sell.What I dislike:My experience off of several visits, and attending their booths at MOX (pre-covid) is that the staff tends to be condescending. I understand that a majority of the customers that they help are average or intermediate level outdoors-people, it would behoove them to ensure that they ask what level of experience the customer has. In particular, there is an employee who is tall and blonde with glasses, who needs to work on the interpersonal skills, and lose the idea that he knows more than everyone else. There are people in this area who have much more experience and knowledge than they may understand.Though I still would recommend an average and intermediate outdoors-person to shop at GMO, and take advantage of their knowledge and guided trips, if you are highly advanced, I recommend being aware that there may be better options out there for you. Personally, for the time being, I will be giving GMO a rest, and doing my shopping at REI.Edit: I stopped in the other day to check out a piece of equipment that REI didnt have in stock and noticed a significant improvement in the way I was approached. It really does show that this company does care, and takes customer feedback into consideration. That goes a long way for me, and Ive changed my rating from four stars to five stars. I now feel comfortable recommending Great Miami Outfitters to those who are advanced outdoors people.

These guys are top-notch in the outdoors game. No big chain store in the area comes close to their product selection and expertise, especially the expertise. Great Miami Outfitters offers some gear for the hunter/fisherman, but their primary focus is on backpacking, paddling, and camping. In those areas, gear can be a big deal, and often choosing the right equipment has safety implications when out in a backcountry setting or on any body of water. Here is where the knowledge comes through far better than the big chains in the area, which mostly focus on the hunting/fishing aspect of the outdoors anyway.Even among local camping/backpacking stores I have visited in other cities I have lived over the years, I am proud that this store in my hometown area is the best I have seen so far in nearly all aspects. Out of 65 reviews as of this writing, a 4.9 average says it all. Good luck on the move to Centerville this year (2017)!

Great store with really kind people. Picked up a great pair of boots and found out that they have a great return policy in case I find that I dont think these are the ones I want. They have a lot of helpful classes on different outdoor activites if there is anything you were trying to get better at or trying to learn about. Really nice place all in all.

Pretty limited selection. Maybe 2-3 options from each manufacturer unfortunately...all of which are more casual/leisure items rather than actual outdoor sport/hiking/climbing outerwear. Cool store nonetheless. Just nothing I actually need. If you just do light outdoor activities, youre sure to find something here.

Great gear, they only carry high quality stuff which can be hard to find around here. The prices are very competitive, I have found gear here cheaper than online. Great gear shop. The staff are always friendly and eager to help you out on whatever your next adventure is. And even if they dont stock something they are often willing to help get it for you. Great products that are pretty much available anywhere. Very rude staff to deal with if you need to return anything. Was giving nothing but hassle when I attempted to make a reasonable return. With other options like Amazon and REI (which makes returns very easy) there is really no great advantage of dealing with this store.

I LOVE this place! The staff has always been extremely patient with me, answering all of my questions and making great suggestions on top of it. I also love that I earn points for my purchases. These guys actually care that you get the right equipment the first time.

I came in Sunday afternoon and they were super busy but Anthony and Bob (I hope I got names right) were so helpful! They took time to go above and beyond for me even though the store was busy. Who knew 4 types of kayaks - recreation, sea, white water and fishing, plus all types of camping equipment to include stoves, pots and accessories and water containers. So many selections of outdoor clothes such as breathable rain jackets. Everything is coming in for the 2018 season to include back packs, sleeping bags and cargo boxes.
