We got our first above ground pool this year and Pool & Spa helped us get everything we needed to get our pool water ready to go for the summer. From the knowledgable and friendly staff and the free water testing, we will definitely keep coming back for all of our pool needs

After reviewing the options in Cedar Rapids, we purchased our new hot tub here and we couldnt be happier! The staffs knowledge and expertise were clear from the first time we walked into the showroom. The staff was always available for questions but not pushy. At time of purchase, we mentioned needing an electrician and they provided an excellent recommendation for us. The delivery was smooth and quick. The final step in our purchase was a visit with a technician, at our house, to teach us how to use the tub and explained tub settings and chemical usage. I would highly recommend Pool & Spa Concepts to anyone seeking a hassle free experience, excellent customer service and knowledge. Finally, I love the extra standard features that you would pay more for anywhere else. Thanks, James and team for everything!!

These people are the best! From looking for a new spa all the way to delivery! Delivery was perfect, they came back a couple days after to show us the basics, common water issues etc. We wouldn’t recommend anyone else. Thanks so much guys!

Wow. I can’t rave enough about Don and his guys over at Pool and Spa Concepts. We had an extremely heavy hot tub that simply needed to be moved out of the way for a deck project and then moved back when finished. They were so willing to help, at the perfect price, and were friendly when arranging it! Even better, I ran into an issue when reconnecting the electrical (all my labels wore off and I had no clue what plugged into what!) and a quick call to Don resulted in a house call on a Sunday evening and not only did he come, he TAUGHT me how to do the wiring myself. He was so patient and kind! So fabulous and when a new tub is required, we know where we are heading! Trust them, they know what they are doing! Thank you!!!!!

I called today to talk to someone about an in ground pool project we are looking at doing. I simply stated that I was looking for an inground pool quote and was quickly met by a rude response stating “it’s impossible to quote an in ground pool over the phone”. I then stated that we had a size and options in mind since we have our research into this, and again was met by an abrasive response. NOT the kind of first impression you should leave with someone who is looking to spend the kind of money to put an in ground pool in. Plus, with COVID-19 going on, you might want to make it a little easier to discuss pool pricing and options without “coming in” to the store. Definitely will not be using this company to build our in ground pool. Perhaps you should have someone else answering your phone, you just lost a job! Sad.

I have worked with a few pool companies in and around Cedar Rapids. My experience with Pool & Spa Concepts has been the best. They are very responsive to any concerns and try their best to resolve quickly. I also think the owner is very hands on with his customers and wants to ensure their satisfaction. I feel like I am in good hands with this company and highly recommend them.

I normally don’t write reviews but for terrible service I will. I purchase all of my chemicals for my hot through pool and concepts. I had a leak on my seal and called for a repair. Talk with James and he asked me to send some pictures of the pump which. Was told he would call the next day. At 2:00 in the afternoon the next I called back and talked with James again. Said he had a used pump he could install but would call me back from 5:00 - 6:00 when he got back to the shop so he could confirm he had the correct. Next day at 4:00 no call back. I willing to pay have my hot tub fixed and seems like they don’t want any business. Lost costumers.

Staff is very knowledgeable, great customer service and fair prices. Love the early bird specials on pool chemicals. Locally owned!

UPDATE: The owners response to my review is inaccurate, deceptive, and misleading (i.e., hes lying). The renovation was performed by his company, not another pool company. The issues I am experiencing are a result of his company and no one else. And I was never fully satisfied with the results. He knows that. I have documentation to prove it. Just more of the same lies and lack of accountability that Im used to from the business owner. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS.Don and his team have one priority...get your money in their hands. Don was always more concerned about getting a check than doing the job right. The lack of concern for quality and a failure to follow through on their word is a definite strength of theirs.If you are looking to spend thousands of dollars in repairs after they install your pool, feel free to give them a call. Two years later Im still paying others to fix their shoddy craftsmanship. Its amazing to me that they are still in business.

Always responsive, pricing seems in line with other companies in the area, and the owner spent about 20 minutes just talking me through a problem I was having with my skimmer once, no money to be made just helping out a customer. Very happy with this pool co. after a bad experience with one in Fairfax. Friend of mine who is also a pool owner has had nothing bit good experiences with them as well.

Go ANYWHERE but here. Anywhere!Pool & Spa is by far one of the worst businesses I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Right from the start they failed to complete our pool setup in the time frame they promised. That is perhaps the most frustrating part about dealing with this company. They seem to have a really hard time doing WHAT they say, or doing it WHEN they say.Our pool piping looks terrible, as if it was installed by an untrained blind man. It only took the business owner 3 times of re-piping it to make it look marginal at best. Clearly whatever the easiest thing to do is always approach they take. Not a clue or concern if the job gets done right.I dont believe proper prep was done during installation either. The bottom of my pool is full of ruts and grooves. Not smooth and you can tell where the liner is stretched and sitting directly on top of support posts. The pool’s stainless steel screws and galvanized metal started rusting almost immediately. Pool looks terrible at this point. Does quality stainless steel or galvanized rust out right away? No it does not. Funny how the quality stainless screws Ive replaced have never rusted.P&S also has very little if any in-store communication. That leads to customer concerns not being resolved in a timely manner. Expect weeks to months to pass before anything gets done. And make sure YOU follow up on the problem…they don’t. Multiple times the person responsible for resolving an issue was never told about it. Getting things done in a reasonable time frame is NOT a priority for P&S.I have been waiting weeks for yet ANOTHER replacement chlorinator. This part was incorrectly installed by the owner himself. The chlorinator owners manual clearly states the unit should never be installed in a vertical position. Thats exactly how he installed it. When brought to his attention, he insisted it makes no difference. The manufacturer confirmed that the unit was not installed correctly. Imagine that, the book shows a picture clearly stating how NOT to install it. And that’s exactly what the business owner does. I guess he didnt read the manual. Not too knowledgeable from my experience.The unit is absolute junk, and 100s of reviews on the web confirm that. If you’re going to P&S to get quality equipment, make sure you do your research first, because they dont.Again, still waiting on that chlorinator. The answer is were working on it. Im not sure if these people simply do not care about customer service, or they simply have no clue. I suspect it is a mixture of both. [UPDATE: we did get the replacement chlorintor, which failed within the season. Junk, removed & trashed]James is the “go to” guy there. Ask just about any question & youre told to speak with James. No one else there ever seems to know anything about pools or spas, especially the owners. If James is on vacation or not in, don’t expect any help until he’s back. Im not sure what P&S would do without him. James is very knowledgeable and I gather very overworked.Every time I look at this pool, I sincerely regret getting it. Not only has my experience with Pool & Spa made me dislike them, it makes me hate my pool. Please do yourself a favor and avoid the nightmare that is Pool & Spa Concepts.- Unreliable- Poor Customer Service- Terrible Communication- Poor or no Follow Through- Owners Lack Knowledge- Questionable Quality of Parts/Supplies- Fail to See the Job is Done Right
