Took my truck in for a second opinion. Another mechanic said my transmission was bad. Aamco transmission said there were other things wrong with my truck, but the transmission was not the problem. I rated them 5 stars cause that was the best news! 3 weeks later my truck broke down and wont move forward and wont move back. So I guess it was the transmission after all. So I am very disappointed that a transmission shop couldnt diagnose I had a transmission problem.

This is the only place I would ever go to get my car to fixed. Everyone here is so trustworthy and Chelsea is exceptional with her customer service. I have never had a problem coming here. I would recommend this place to any looking for a fair price and outstanding customer service.

I dealt with a fantastic representative named Pat. I explained how I did not want to put a new transmission in my vehicle as it is up there in age. He put in the work to shop for a used transmission for me and got me a great deal on a replacement transmission saving me THOUSANDS from what the dealer quoted me and still managed to get me a 3 year warranty!The vehicle drives great. I’ve been coming here for a couple years now. They are honest, timely, and provide great customer service. They always answer all of my questions about repairs that need to be made and their work is high quality.

A1 service, Pat kept me updated every time I either stopped by or called. The hold up was with my company fleet approval, not AAMCOs fault. They would of had it all done a week earlier. They have a drop-off key slot for off hours. Note: they are closed Saturdays and Sunday so, plan around this. Thanks Pat.

Amazing shop. One of the best experiences of having to take a car to a garage. Staff is friendly and very knowledgable, and even takes the time to explain what is going on at every stage. I have an older car with hard to find parts, but they spent the time to track them down and get me back up and running. Have to say the prices are more then fair, and will be my first stop for my future car problems.

Staff is very pleasant. They explain things to detail. Job was delayed but it was not their fault as the replace transmission was defective and a second one had to be ordered.Now I am to drive the car. I hope and prey this transmission installed ends up being great.But the service was great.

What a great experience! I dealt with a fellow named Ray who was upfront and honest from the very 1st call i made before i had an appointment to replace my rear brakes and rotors on my jeep,definitely will be going back after this experience! It is very hard to find an honest mechanic shop and the price was fair being that it was $250 less then the dealership!.

I have been using AAMCO for all my vehicle repair needs since the opened. I used to deal with Pep Boys since they were the only brand name repair facility in town, and since making the switch I can honestly say AAMCO is a completely different environment. The manager is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and shows me what is wrong on my car. The quality, speed and cost of repairs are far better than Pep Boys and overall the place is just nicer. Keep up the good work guys!

I have been coming to AAMCO for 3 months now ever since my transmission blew on my Ford. I know its never a good thing when you have to go into a repair shop but I can honestly say Pat and the team made me feel good about the service being preformed and the price. I was blown away with the professionalism and shop cleanliness. My Ford was delivered on time and they even brought me into the shop to educate me on what happened with the transmission. I now take my Ford to these guys for everything because they were that good. The hands down best auto repair experience of my life. I was told by another transmission shop in the area that I needed to replace my transmission to the tune of $3000! Took it to AAMCO for a second opinion and spoke to Pat. They called me a couple hours later and told me I needed to have my computer reprogrammed. I had a great experience here in an otherwise frustrating situation. My car broke down on the Turnpike and it turned out to be a transmission problem. The staff here was honest, thorough, and ultimately helped me choose an option that gave them less money but was better for me. Highly recommended.

Good for taking your money I spent almost $2,000 to have an oil leak fixed and now today Im spending another $2,000 to get the same problem fixed dont know why?

STAY AWAY. They Ripped my relative off hundreds of dollars by inflating their prices.They will say this is not true. THIS IS TRUE!!!!

I am not one to normally waste time writing reviews but I feel the need to tell you about my experience at AAMCO. After going to a small shop in Carteret and spending over 800 dollars and 3 trips back for the same problem I went to AAMCO. They found the problem and took me out to the car to show me the part the other shop broke and then tried to GLUE! AAMCO fixed the car for under $200, better yet I got my car back the same day. I should of went there the first time, the place is really nice and clean and the staff was so friendly.

I had an emergency the car was overheating. They worked all day to figure out what the problem was. Ray, the Manager couldnt have been nicer. I was stuck there with my puppy and we felt like family. They fixed the problem and the car is running great! Everyone there was just so nice.I would highly recommend Aamco to everyone. I felt they were genuine and the service was impeccable.

I was traveling from my home in Massachusetts to Disney World with my 2 children when my van started shaking and the check engine light came on while I was driving on the New Jersey Turnpike. In a panic I pulled off the next exit and saw an AAMCO sign. As I pulled up to the store they were closing for the day. I explained my situation to the manager who was in the process of locking up. He was very friendly and said he would try to help. He put his machine on the car and checked the engine light. After he checked the car out he found out I needed an ignition coil. Luckily there was a part store local to them. He changed the part and it fixed the problem. I am very thankful of the employees who stayed to fix my car after they closed on Saturday. As I am sure the staff has their own families and things to do. They could of easily told me they were closed and then I wouldnt of known what to do. I wanted to take the time to write this review to let other people know about the good people that work at AAMCO in Carteret NJ. If I lived in New Jersey this would surely be my mechanic shop. Thank you!

Great customer service... Broke down on the Turnpike, limped off exit 12. As soon as I got off i saw an AAMCO sign across the street. I stopped in at 4:30 in a panic. They checked the car and told me I needed a water pump. They ordered the parts and stayed 90 minutes past closing to wait for the parts and get me on the road. I really appreciate the staff at AAMCO staying to help me out. Car ran great the whole way home.

Car broke down on the New Jersey Turnpike and was towed here. Pat and his team were very professional, gave me several options for transmission replacement, and got service completed promptly. Glad these guys were here and highly recommend them!

Pat took me in last minute and got my brakes taken care of before my road trip. It was raining today and they even offered to give me a ride back to my house. I returned after work right after they closed and they had my car in the lot and my car keys ready for me so I could head out that night without waiting for my car the next day. Great guys!

I blew the trans on my 2006 Acura TL after calling a few shops AAMCO caught my eye with a great warranty and great customer service. My car was in and out fast and my car is running better than when I first bought it!

STAY AWAY! I brought my car in for a simple coolant flush only find out that suddenly it needed a water pump (the water pump was fine before I brought it there! So whatever they did they caused the bigger problem!) I had the car looked at, at another place to find out there was more issues that they didnt mention. Now my car is not usable AT ALL! It was old but it was reliable as a 2nd car now I dont even have that! I will FOREVER REGRET going there!

I always get my oils change here they are fast and professional and they don’t charge a crazy amount.

I’m a long time customer of this AAMCO. Pat and Ray have treated me honestly and saved me money. Seeing the number of 5 star comments here, I see a lot of people feel the same way. Regarding the 1 star comment, Mr Mitrow, insurance companies settle because they don’t want the expense of going to court, it doesn’t mean anyone admits guilt. Don’t be so naïve. This is a good repair shop and I always recommend them.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! “99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited”... I’ve been to 3 different mechanics about a rattling noise in my front end that sounded like my car was going to fall apart over every little bump... So after having these places replace tie rods, steering stabilizer shock, axels and a wheel alignment it was still making the sound and truck was all over the highway. Their response to me was “Well, I don’t know what to tell you”! So I decided to give it one last shot and called Aamco here in Carteret. I spoke to a Gentleman named Pat that was very professional and courteous. After 1.5hrs he told me it was my stabilizer bar bushings. Needles to say my front end isn’t making a sound anymore and the steering control is like a brand new truck!!! Awesome People and Establishment!!! They will be the only Automobile Techs to ever touch my vehicle again!!!!!

There are the best you get your car the same day and if anything is needed they will fix it . the price are a little hight sometimes but other then that i am happy

I cant say enough good things about the service I received at the AAMCO of Carteret. I drove in, Pat diagnosed the issue told me what the options were and what the cost would be. I dropped it off the evening before and was able to pick it up the following day as promised.

I will be making my way back there within days to service my car again.

I took my 04 corolla to a pepboys because of a rattling/ clanking noise in the front passenger side whenever I pressed the brakes or hit a bump in the road.. They told me I needed new sway bar and bushings. I got the work done, but the noise continued.. I brought it back to Pepboys and they told me I needed all four brakes/ rotors and all four struts replaced. I was able to replace brakes/ struts myself, but the noise was still there. I decided to take the car to a AAMCO in Carteret- they were able to quickly identify that the problem was a loose lower control arm. They tightened it for no extra charge (I paid $39.00 diagnostic fee). I dont know why pepboys didnt indentify the problem correctly the first or second time I took it to them, but from now on I will be going to AAMCO for service/ repairs.

I had a good experience at this business, they are fast, friendly and professional.They are full service, and fixed a leaky tire while I waited. The business is right off Turnpike exit 12 and the neighborhood is safe.

Really saved the day , thought I needed a whole new transmission , they were able to just replace a single part and send me on my way . Thanks guys.

Be careful of this place. Trust these people at your own peril. Their main aim is to bleed you as much money possible. The whole 69.99 break special is trap. Once you go there, they will make sure you pay them at least 500 bucks. 500 bucks is really the minimum if you are lucky. I fell in to this same trap had to suffer enough agony to break my head. Instead of changing my break pad, they gave me a list of more then 500 bucks to spend. When I asked them to change only rear break pads, initially they agreed. However after two hours, they again called me that caliper is broken and to replace caliper, I also need to change rotor. Again I told them just change the break pad but they said without changing calipers, new break pads can not be installed. Finally, I asked them to do nothing to my car and I showed to another mechanic. Interestingly, the only thing I needed to change is break hose connecting to caliper but not the caliper. The break hose cost me 20 bucks. The mechanic told me my calipers including my rotors are in very good shape. Oh god, How can people be so dishonest? If you are thinking of taking your car to Aamco Carteret, then think twice. Go there with enough money to bleed.

I wouldnt use this place if it was the last place standing .. They didnt fix my car correctly and it caught on fire.. His insurance company took full responsibility and paid the claim.. The inconvenience that created was absurd.. They the son calls us up being we stopped our charge being rude... How doe expect to get paid for something when you didnt fix it right creating a car to catch on fire.. And dont say it wasnt your fault cause your insurance company paid the entire claiming accepting full responsibility.. Until you accept responsibility for your mistakes I wouldnt trust you to fix or try to help any customer..
